Reviews for Hotel Emma

Review 1:That we could not stay longer.

Review 2:We were really looking forward to coming back to Hotel Emma and we were not disappointed. The staff are very friendly, efficient and make you feel welcome. They provide any information needed and try to make you feel at home. Their breakfast, which includes lots of local and organic products, is excellent. There is parking nearby at a reasonable price and if you want to avoid carrying your luggage up the stairs to reception, it is better to get your key from the receptionist and use the lift from the back of the building. Our room was clean, it had all the amenities we needed, it was quiet and the bed was comfortable. If you want a modern, sterile hotel do not visit it. If you prefer character, warmth and being spoiled then visit Hotel Emma.

Review 3:I liked it all, a very cosy kind hotel where you feel very welcome and taken care of. I very much appreciated the atmosphere of Jämtland/Östersund and the generous breakfast with delicious local specialities.

Review 4:The entry, halls and main areas were dingy and musty.

Review 5:The hotel offered an excellent breakfast with mostly locally-grown foods. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 6:We had to leave early in the morning and were offered generous breakfast supplies in our room. Staff went out of their way and were extremely helpful in all cases. Great location in the pedestrian area.

Review 7:Lots of atmosphere and cosy. Central location but quiet room. Good breakfast. My answers are not being accepted and my review score should be about 7.

Review 8:Great value for money for Sweden. Good cold breakfast selection. Bright, sunny room with massive windows looking out over the (quiet) main shopping street

Review 9:The hotel is quite old, the bathroom specially was quite outdated (very clean, though). I didn't find the bed particularly comfortable.

Review 10:The staff was really friendly. Breakfast buffet was small but very nice, full of locally produced good. Hotel is in the centre of Östersund, really well located, but still very quiet.

Review 11:When we arrived at 9 pm the front door was locked and we had difficulty contacting reception. Once inside, we were confronted by a long flight of steep stairs; not a welcome sight for tired travellers with heavy bags.

Review 12:This small, quiet boutique hotel is really like a B&B. Our room was large and had a pleasant atmosphere. The breakfast was excellent.

Review 13:The location in the old town on a pedestrian street is great, an easy walk from the train station. It's a beautiful historical building, the room was spacious and comfortable, the staff were wonderful, and the breakfasts were amazing.

Review 14:the room was directly overlooked by flats/rooms opposite and we saw people looking straight into our rooms. even with the satnav/GPS the hotel was hard to find and the car park impossible to find so we ended up parking in the town carpark

Review 15:Breakfast. Town centre location good for finding the cinema, shops and restaurants

Review 16:This is an amazing hotel with an amazing staff, amazing, immaculate rooms, comfortable beds, And amazing food. I'm not sure why other reviewers found this hotel hard to find because I had no issues once I was pointed to the right street. I speak very little Swedish and this was my first time out of the United States. The staff all spoke English very well and were very attentive to me and my needs. Maria-Kristina was absolutely wonderful to me. Thank you so much for the breakfast and the history of the building and area. I loved my room #30. I barely heard a peep out of any of the other guests. It was so quiet. I'm very picky about hotels because of my experience working in hotels and I will say that Hotel Emma passed inspection 100%. There was not a speck of dust on any of the furniture or under the beds. The television was very nice and the desk was set up perfectly. I felt at home from the moment that I walked into the room. Honestly, I did not want to leave. The bathroom, I have seen described as dated but I found it nicely renovated.(In my room, at least) It was a nice size and even had q-tips, which I have never seen as a hotel amenity before. The little details matter! I did purchase some Organic honey with propolis and jam, which I unfortunately had to get rid of at the airport because it was too late for me to check my bags :(. My heart was broken, it was really good stuff. I love the way that they support the local economy and serve only organic food, teas, and coffee. This is a wonderful place with great value for the money. The location couldn't be better, right in the heart of the city with stores everywhere and within walking distance of a supermarket. Thank you for such a wonderful experience and I hope to see you all again soon. -Medina

Review 17:Its not modern nor renovated. The rooms don't give a business travel feeling to them if you are looking for that.

Review 18:Has all the charms of being personal, feels a bit like staying at someone's. The staff is very welcoming and attentive to your needs. Location is great everything within walking distance.

Review 19:My only complaint (as a news junky) is that there is no English news channels. Popular American and British series/movies are available with Swedish subtitles but no English news at all. CNN or BBC World News would be nice. Maria Kristina is looking into this and assures that one of the two will be available soon.

Review 20:The location is on the pedestrian boulevard in the middle of town. I arrived late at night and received a text message with two codes and a room number. The first code was for the front door. Once up the 20 steps to the 1st floor there was a white box where the second code was entered. This opened for my room key. Terrific DIY system. Took the elevator to the 4th floor and to the lovely room. I was there for five nights and felt very much at home. Maria Kristina and her staff make you feel welcome and gladly offer local history and tourist info. The buffet breakfast is excellent and just like the pictures. The adjoining pub/restaurant offers 15% discount to hotel guests on meals. Lots of other good restaurants close by. Try the JazzKoket down the street. Amazing food, ambiance and music.

Review 21:Nothing.

Review 22:Everything! its clean, its nice, friendly and very informative staff, spoke perfect English, I have stayed their now seperate times now, and the last time I stayed I didn't want to go. Best test itamd you will see.

Review 23:Bathroom a little outdated by clean and functional

Review 24:Room comfortable staff and service excellent. Breakfast great. Wifi connected first oh and no problems.

Review 25:Everything. Delicious breakfast with local products on the terrace on sunny day. Very pleasant staff. Very large and bright room and comfortable beds. Tea/coffee maker in the room. Fika (tea, coffe, cakes) all-day in self service. Location : in on of the main streets of Ostersund, but not noisy.

Review 26:Very noisy , Very hot (no A/C), absolutely no privacy, bathroom smelled terrible! We requested QUIET room in advance , but the room we got was noisiest place we ever stayed in our life facing the street and contraction! Drunken people were walking the street all night talking loud and horrible construction noise- starts really early . Addition to that because of no AC, it was impossible to stay inside without opening a window - which also makes no privacy at all. If you book this hotel, keep in mind they only have 18 rooms and many rooms are actually facing the street .

Review 27:Quality breakfast Free Wifi

Review 28:Reception is up a long flight of stairs from the street. When you arrive, the door is locked and a sign tells you to key B100 on a lock pad, but this never worked for us in several tries. It also advises to call a local number, but that call wouldn't complete on my US iPhone. So you are standing there wondering what to do and finally the staff hears you rattling the door and runs down to let you in. Once you are past this bizarre access procedure everything is great, but it's a bit off-putting on first arrival. There is a small lift at the back of the building but you don't know that until have checked in and they have explained how to find it (through the adjacent carport and the back yard) and anyway you need a room key to unlock it. So on first arrival you schlep your bags up the 20+ steps to reception.

Review 29:This was a one-night stop for us, a convenient layover before taking the train south. The building is old but the room was comfortable and large with a good shower. The staff was very willing to help, gave us discount coupons to the pub restaurant downstairs and to the Jamtli amusement park. The breakfast buffet was good and the breakfast room pleasant.

Review 30:Great breakfast, good location right in the city centre, lots of restaurants near by, friendly service in the reception

Review 31:The breakfast is to die for! Fantastic! And the staff are exceptional! I will absolutely book a room next time I´m in Östersund.

Review 82:Breakfast was amazing and the staff so friendly and accomodating. I have already booked our next stay as the location is excellent and we were made to feel so welcome.

Review 83:We arrived late and would not have been able to get access to the hotel had it not been for another guest letting us in and showing us where the room keys were left )in a locked cabinet)

Review 84:Nice and clean if a little basic. Great Breakfast with all organic produce

Review 85:I found it difficult to operate the radiators and the bathroom could do with a little updating, to bring it in line with the pleasantness of the room itself.

Review 86:Staff was very welcoming, and the room was pleasant and personal. There was also a communal 'living room' with books to read and borrow.

Review 87:Very friendly staff. Super breakfast with all kinds of local and fresh food. Large rooms, even with 4 people in it. Decent bathroom. Service perfect: if you have to leave before breakfast, they put a fridge in your room with your breakfast in it!!! excellent!

Review 88:Reception staff severe. The whole hotel was in need of refurbishment. In our room the paint on the radiator was peeling and chipped. The central glass light was not screwed to the ceiling but hanging from the electrical wires .Above the window there was a large damp patch.

Review 89:Central location.Convenient paid parking.Breakfast staff excellent.

Review 90:For the money, it can't get any better than this super friendly hotel in the center of wonderful Swedish town of about 40,000 population. I can recommend this super quite comfortable hotel to anyone traveling through. We were traveling by train between Stockholm and Trondheim and had the good luck to find the Emma. Now that we found the Emma in Ostersund, we wish we had more time to spend here.

Review 91:The room we had (a family room) was a bit spartan and bare, but clean and had everything we needed (hot water cooker, blower dryer, etc.).

Review 92:Location and staff. The place was wonderfully homey, especially with coffee and fika always available in the matsal. It was also quiet for its central location. We loved our stay and plan on returning soon.
