Reviews for Avalon Residence
Review 1:Not very clean, staff only medium helpful, night shift doesn't speak English. Minor plus is the proximity to the bus station to get you out of the city, which generally doesn't offer much. Pakse is the better start for exploring Laos.
Review 2:Nothing really to be annoyed about. The TV was a little small (though still lcd, maybe 32" or smaller), and a little fuzzy (had True Cable), likely too many TVs without a booster. That is the only nitpick.
Review 3:Clean, modern, everything worked. Wifi on every floor. Aircon worked. Staff pleasant. Comfortable bed.
Review 4:no wardrobe, just a stander with 2 clothehangers, I would have liked more clothehangers.
Review 5:Simple but nice hotel. Good room size, comfortable, hot shower that actually works, good location as well. Located next to restaurant serving quality food at a fair price. 2 mn walk to bus station, walking distance to thai consulate (10-12 mn walk though). Staff was very friendly, and accomodating. They let me check in earlier than 2 PM, and allowed a last minute change in my dates.
Review 6:Convenient location for Royal Thai Consulate for Thai visa services and bus station. Quiet, fairly new and clean. Short tuk-tuk ride to the river and old part of the town. Food available at Avalon Coffee shop next door.
Review 7:The coffee shop has a limited menu, but very friendly staff. The website says 24 hour desk but when I arrived, the shutters were all down, making it look very closed.I was quite worried I would have to spend the night sat on the step in the street. The security guard eventually let me in but spoke no English.Did let me sleep on the sofa in the lobby which was very comfortable though.
Review 8:The hotel is very close to the bus station & a walk away from the Thai embassy for visa runs. The staff were very helpful.Room was large & comfortable, very clean & comfortable. The staff got me into my room early which was great as I was so tired,I just needed to sleep.
Review 9:Great hotel with very friendly staff rooms were spacious and very clean Hot water convenient cafe next door very close to the bus station so convenient for stopovers
Review 10:Dont really have.
Review 11:Very clean and tidy Close to bus station Just 10 mins drive from airport Nice coffee shop for breakfast. Just one thing am not so used tp is that you couldnt wear shoes within indoor area. Yet, they offer you slippers.
Review 12:Below average wifi which disconnects regularly and had no signal at all in our room. Literally hundreds of mosquitoes in our room because of no screen on shower outlet.
Review 13:10 minute walk to Thai Consulate, plus decent breakfast and good real coffee available. Check out White House restaurant, Macchiato de Coffee and Oshin Japanese restaurant while in Savannakhet.
Review 14:Good location & friendly staff. We especially liked the old part (also a bit cheaper) of the hotel - which is located right next door. Stayed in both parts. (beautiful building with nice history).
Review 15:It was my second stay at this property and both time the recptionist Mr. Lah was outstanding. He was very helpful in organizing a scooter for me on both visits and dealt with any other request promptly and very professional. It is a basic but clean hotel which is very well run. I can highly recommend it for the visa run travellers.
Review 16:Great experience and very fair priced. Location is okay with a 15 minute walk to the "center"... The staff at the hotel is excellent, top of the line really. Speaks great English, very helpful and always with a smile.
Review 17:We had a room at the 5th floor, the lift wasn't working, so... So quite a lot of stairs... Even with the balcony door closed, the water gets inside the room when there's heavy rain
Review 18:Very friendly staff and bikes available for rent.
Review 19:Elevator is still not working.
Review 20:Hotel is close to bus station, area around hotel lively, easy to find restaurants. Large rooms, but bathroom not so large. Friendly staff at the reception, who is really happy to speak english. Bicycles available for rent
Review 21:Very nice compared to my last stay in Savannakhet. Extremely nice and hospitable staff. Very clean room and bathroom. Comfortable bed, and excellent views. Even a little restaurant. Didn't want to leave. 5 stars.
Review 22:very spacious, clean and bright room! the hotel is within short walking distance to bus station and market. And the next door Avalon Coffee shop serves good selection of breakfast, coffee and juice drinks.
Review 23:actually had no bad experience during one night we spent over there. There is absulutely nothing to do to kill your free time, although outside the hotel is all the same.
Review 24:Located 5 min walk from bus station, 5 minutes (40 baht) taxi drive from Thai Consulate. The breakfast is served any time you like in the small restaurant next door. The food is good enough.

Review 28:No lift installed yet, and the aircon could have been a little better.
Review 29:A new, clean hotel with friendly staff and excellent wifi, with a decent small cafe attached. Close to the bus station.
Review 30:Unfortunately the rooms go up to floor 5 and there is no lift. the air conditioner appeared to be only just up to the job of keeping the room cool and had to be set to "turbo" to do this. Others complained of poor air conditioners too.
Review 31:Large rooms, friendly staff, new building. the food at the adjoining cafe was really quite good and they do a good cup of Laos coffee. the water in the taps was actually HOT - whether the tank on the roof was getting super-heated by the sun or what, i don't know but one didn't need the water heater most of the time.
Review 32:Convenient and affordable restaurant that's part of the hotel located right next door. We walked to the Thai consulate which was about a 15 minute walk along the main road.
Review 33:i was on the top floor and the elevator was not yet working
Review 34:very big balcony on the top floor outstanding hotel for Laos standards staff spoke reasonable English
Review 35:We actually got upgraded to a bigger room in the annex, which was fantastic. Excellent bed and shower, good amenities. A few minutes on foot from the bus station, and around 30 minutes from the city center.
Review 36:Internet was a little hard to get at first but later it was fine.
Review 37:Room was good with clean washroom and room area. Carpet on Tile floor:-)) Never seen that before in 7 years traveling S.E.Asia. Also outside my room was a dinning area, with table and chairs, A sitting area with sofa and sofa chairs and desk area; in the building I was in I had the ground floor room and up on the second flour was 2 other rooms. They could share the downs stairs area too. My room was separate but walked out of the room to a whole living area; it was great I used it for 2 days for relaxing. I was on a Visa run so get for me. Their Restaurant was very nice, clean and Served Good Food. Served a nice Breakfast(Eggs, toast, Juice & Dish of Fresh fruit) Good Variety of Coffees too. Will use on next trip again.
Review 38:The choice of avalon was a good one. The International bus that bringsthe traveller from Mukdahan to Suvanakhet stops at the bus terminal only200 meters from the hotel. There is a wonderful local daily market witheverything from food to souveniers. When coming to the hotel and seeinga gleaming new lobby I half expected the rooms to be less impressive (asin the case in many hotels throughout Asia) but at avalon the rooms arevery nice, new and clean.
Review 39:Nothing
Review 40:Staff very friendly, hotel just 2 minutes walk from bus station, 15 minutes from Thai Consulate (for visas) and 15-20 minutes walk from the river front.
Review 41:It is a 20 walk to downtown. not bad in the daytime but tuk tuk needed at night. Only 20,000 kip.
Review 42:Big room. Modern bathroom. Comfy bed. Fridge. Balcony. Great AC. Felt like home. Easy to relax after half day cycling in forest. Owner/manager helpful to get tuk tuk at 7am. And always checked everything ok with me.
