Reviews for Marigot Beach Club & Dive Resort
Review 1:The facilities are a bit old. The first room was smelling humidity and the bathroom was awfull. The second room was good but we learned afterwards that it was of a higher category. The overal vakue for the money is not good, which is not acceptable in regard to the local salaries.
Review 2:The location. The restaurant had good food.
Review 3:Tired, tatty decor. Cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Mouse spotted in my room. Poor facilities - so many different internet connections and still couldn't get a connection in my room! ... Couldn't wait to leave!
Review 4:The only fantastic thing about this hotel was the location. Stunning view.
Review 5:No internet Staffs are not intetactive No proper food Rooms are there on the hill. Have to walk.
Review 6:location of hotel Room Water sports Midnight Fireworks on 1 jan 2016
Review 7:Marigot Beach Club and Dive is an old hotel with really bad management. We stayed at the Panorama studio since that was the only type of room left at the time of booking. We paid $294 per night for a room that should be about $70 per night. You have to walk up 5 flights of stairs outdoors and if it rains the tile is super slick and dangerous to walk on. The employees are nice until you ask for something. Everyone from the restaurant staff, the management office, security, janitors no one is helpful. The beds are so uncomfortable and the decor is just sad. The owner is around everyday and you can overhear him talking bad to his employees. He should have a hotel management over take over and run that place well, as well as take down all his pictures off the walls. We have never been so unhappy with a choice of hotel and service. We will not be coming back.
Review 8:Marigot Bay is a gorgeous place. Hard to get to and it only has a small beach.
Review 9:Did not enjoy the ferry ride back late at night. Pool area slippery when wet as were the steps up to our room. Beach was a little disappointing.
Review 10:Waterfront restaurant was stunning and food was great. Rooms comfortable with good sized balcony to appreciate the amazing views. Very friendly staff
Review 11:In a very quiet bay, perfect place to relax for a few days and to forget about your worries ! Was worried about the boat, but it works 24/7 (at night you just have to call and they'll come pick you up), so no problems there !
Review 12:Staff, mainly in the restaurant, did not always come across as very friendly or helpful
Review 13:Great location in lovely Marigot Bay , wonderful view from the large veranda, value for money, full kitchen in the hotel room
Review 14:The owner verbally abusing us and forcing us to leave. Being downgraded on arrival and telling us it was the room we booked. The refusal to deal with our 3 pages worth of problems whilst we were there...offered us compensation at one point but they failed to actually let us use it. Refusal to discuss our bill and now after promise of a refund for the unused nights that we were forced out of we have still not received a refund and it is now over a month since our stay
Review 15:Only 2 staff were outstanding, the rest absolutely rubbish at their jobs and obviously hated being there. The location is ok but full of people trying to sell you drugs. The best part was the day we went across the bay to lunch at a different restaurant and the monsoon weather on one day... At least it was entertaining.
Review 16:the customer services are a bit poor, the staff need a bit of training, can't explain themselves and not friendly.
Review 17:the food was great, the room was fantastic, my only disappointment was it was my husband birthday wanted it to be special but my request was not meet.
Review 18:The rooms will have a good view but it is a little bit of a climb.
Review 19:Best food we had on island, the dinner special was best value app, dinner, and dessert. Great on site activities, rent snorkel equipment if you don't bring your own, shallow cove you can see fish and eel, rent kayaks, or take sunset cruise, pool tables in bar to keep you entertained. This is a secluded quieter hotel.
Review 20:No Wi-Fi in the Bungalows. Personal at the Breakfast Buffet was kind of unhelpful and not very friendly. This changed after I've complained about that.
Review 21:The Marigot Bay itself is really beautiful. There is a 24h Watertaxi to the Hotel for free. Bungalow Interior is really tasteful.
Review 22:The mosquitos but we was in paradise, they were expected.
Review 23:The property and view was amazon! The staff and locals was great. It felt like paradise with a family atmosphere. The food was great! I'll definitely be back very soon.
Review 24:I was very unhappy with this hotel I paid for two room one with champagne in it and never got it I also asked for an extra bed because I need one and I had to re ask for it them wen it rain one of the room leaked but if it rained heavy it poured in from the baloney and finally when it was time to leave and for me to finish pay my bill they told me they only took a deposit for one room but considering I call the hotel every month from May to make sure everything was in place and to know how much I had left to pay the last call I made to the hotel was two weeks before I arrived and asked how much was left they told me under £300 pounds so I was happy but that wasn't the case when I had to pay on my last day and all the Manager had to say for himself was I changed three staff members and he was sorry about that which isn't good enough. So will defo not be going back there or recommending anyone else too. Very disappointed
Review 25:I like that is was on it's own little island and some of the staff was very nice and friendly
Review 26:Floor in room very dirty! Not mopped. No converter for hair curler. Had to get maintenance man to repair.
Review 27:The Bay. Sailing in small day sailor. Love the local people at the beach. Staff was so kind to send note to me at the jetty regarding transportation glitch. Could not catch him to tip.
Review 28:WiFi was unreliable and very slow. We had only a hot plate and no sink to wash pots etc.
Review 29:The room was excellent! (Rose cottage) Eugeine did a superb job and was very warm and friendly! Would like to also mention Ashley. Can't sum it all up here! We had a fantastic time!
Review 30:Nothing to complain about. Saint Lucia and Marigot Bay are top!
Review 31:The perfect location to relax, even if I was there for business in Castries. It was like heaven, travelling to and from the hotel on the tiny ferry, meeting locals at the beach, learning about their lives and exchanging fruits and chocolates. Definitely a place to return to!
Review 32:It seems that stuff don't really care about You. We have waited from 1 to 2 hours for breakfast. Every day stuff tried to make us pay for it although it was included in the price. The restaurant is extremely expensive while the food served there is not prepared properly (ex. Salad with goat cheese was served with mayonaisse), for dessert we had to wait 50 minutes (fruits!) and we were forced to pay first. The bill we have received had many positions which we hadn't ordered.
Review 33:Hotel is perfectly located. As we have stayed in delux rooms with sea view we were delighted with the view from our windows
Review 34:The staff are very robotic and lack interpersonal skills, all of them! The way they talk to guests resembles reading a script. Upon welcome the staff were borderline rude and not at all showing the Caribbean hospitality I am accustomed to. And although booked with breakfast included we had to argue with the staff about the meal plan because they tried to charge us extra!
Review 35:Views are stunning and worth seeing for 15-20 minutes. Then you get annoyed by everything else.
Review 36:The kitchen and bathrooms are very outdated. And worn.
Review 37:We were unaware untill arrival, that free parking was the parking at the ferry. It is required to take a quick ferry to access the hotel. So it does make you want to stay on premises more to eat, which is very expensive. But it is a quiet area, no dogs barking or loud music. The balcony on the deluxe beachfront studio and the firefly were huge and a great view my favorite part. We scored this hotel 48 hours prior, with 57% off 110$ with breakfast and all taxes. I'm glad I didn't pay more.
Review 38:The silly patio doors, no possibility to leave a window open due to security. Our room 16a had no shade over the balcony at all. Breakfast in the blasting sun is not nice. All other rooms had shade.
Review 39:The location, view, cooking facilities, ferry rides and the security staff.
Review 40:restaurnant expensive. fish and chips, fish and shrimp 72 $ u.s for 2 people. small grocery store also expense. do not know what rest of food costs, staff not all aware what is included
Review 41:close to beach , great taxi thru desk, great breakfast
Review 42:Staff not as friendly as we had experienced previously in nearby resorts. Bathroom and kitchen in lodge a little tired, but for the price can't really complain.
Review 43:Great location in Marigot Bay. Lovely views from the rooms. Had access to a small beach area and a water taxi across to the aim marina. Has a spa, very basic but the treatments were reasonable and very cheap. Doolittles restaurant served decent food and drink, with lovely views over the bay. Stayed in a grand lodge which were nicely decorated with a small kitchen but enough to meet your needs and a lovely large veranda. Lodges in a lovely setting surrounded by gardens and shrubs. Altogether , a lovely resort for what you pay, very cheap indeed.
Review 44:Owner called away on emergency and big wedding at end of stay meant that service declined somewhat - we knew why, but it was unfortunate Wifi was only in public areas and somewhat erratic
Review 45:Wonderful, friendly staff Glorious setting Comfortable, cozy guest rooms Dolittle's restaurant
Review 46:Firstly they need to invest in a more powerful wifi router and the restaurant staff could be aloy more clean. .. but all in all wonderful experience
Review 47:Everything from the picturesque location to the friendly accommodating staff... comfortable bed and peace and quiet... was an all round wonderful experience.
Review 48:Pretty shambolic service in the bar and restaurant. The beach isn't really anything to write home about.
Review 49:Reasonably priced, acceptably comfortable accommodation in a great location.
Review 50:Cleanliness of the room could be improved. There was a hole in the window net and we ended up with a few mosquitoes in the room during a mosquito born virus outbreak.
Review 51:The location is perfect and you can easily access great snorkeling and diving spots by boat.
Review 52:The kitchen is very basic, a microwave would have been good.but still we didn't have a problem cooking just everything had to be fried or boiled. Np. The location is beautiful but remote. If u don't hire a car then u have a choice of the local bus which is the cheapest option but takes a bit of effort getting up the hill to catch one.the other option is land and sea taxi which are v expensive and will soon eat into your spending money.
Review 53:The hotel was good value for money. The deluxe room was great, the bed was great the bathroom was great and the balcony was great. The room was cleaned every day. The staff were very helpful
Review 54:This was my first time to St. Lucia I couldn't have picked a better resort. I loved the location; it lends itself to many activities or just relaxing with a book. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was very helpful and courteous. I have already told all my friends that if I ever return to St. Lucia this would be the place to stay. Thank you for a memorable time which was much too brief.
Review 55:The a/c could have been cooler.
Review 56:The staff was perfection in every area from the bar, the restaurant, to the office. We met the owner and we had to compliment him on his corner of paradise. We want to return for a longer stay.
Review 57:Everything was just perfect!
Review 58:Location staff and everything was amazing! We loved our holiday there and we really didn't want to go!!! It's definitely a destination and resort that we will visit again soon!!! The atmosphere is magical and the small boat to take you to the hotel is simply amazing!! Best bay to stay in St Lucia!!!!
Review 59:Beautiful beach to sit on balcony and view with good restaurants and cheap beer
Review 60:I did not like that every morning breakfast was late!
Review 61:I loved the fact that the resort is so tranquil and reserved
Review 62:No hot water and roaches. And the room I got was not the king room that I paid for. It was not the same that was shown online.
Review 63:Nothing
Review 64:Environment
Review 65:There was absolutely nothing to dislike.
Review 66:Everything. I was so impressed by the overall ambiance. I shall definitely be back.
Review 67:Poor breakfast and drinks overpriced
Review 68:Location
Review 69:The room we had was a little tired and ready for bathroom upgrade.
Review 70:Fantastic location with very large balcony looking out on the stunning bay.
Review 71:Marigot is beautiful. Don't stay at this hotel!
Review 72:The WiFi access was poor
Review 73:The hospitality and access to beautiful beach and views
Review 74:staff not quite active
Review 75:I could not get the hot water to work.
Review 76:Politeness of the staff, and the attention given by staff at dinner.
Review 77:Other services (food etc) not cheap, lot of hassling from locals around the property
Review 78:Nice to be at the beach, friendly staff
Review 79:Not much to do here. Right outside the resort locals badger you to buy things, including drugs.
Review 80:The bedroom and balcony area were beautiful. View of the bay is great.
Review 81:The hotel offered pilates, nature walk, and yoga as complementary on their board at the entrance. None of this was available. Neither the windows had mosquito screens nor did the bed have a mosquito net. Obviously the hotel management considers their guests to only rely on the air conditioning.
Review 82:The personal was very friendly and helpful. 2 minutes to the small beach for an early morning swim is just great. The room had a small kitchen incl. fridge. Both come very handy. On the beach locals rent out water sports gear. Ask for rates for a few days or a week. Those vary between US$50 per 4 days to US$60 for a whole week. Hourly rates are incredibly expensive.
Review 83:Being greeted by 'Betsy' (huge black dog) and a Cockroach in the reception area. A hike is required to reach the room. The area is poorly lit and there is little to no security. The room has a sliding door with a curtain that barely block the outside and not an actual door, so you have no privacy. ALL of the Managers were NOT AVAILABLE for contact to address our concerns.
Review 84:The receptionist 'Natalie' was very helpful. Thanks to her again for aiding as best as she could, it was very much appreciated.
Review 85:Our only regret was that we could not stay longer.
Review 86:“Marigot Beach Club & Dive Resort, St Lucia.....is beautiful”We stayed in a "Deluxe Studio" - Our room was clean and comfortable, our verandah a perfect place to chill, with a view overlooking the garden and beach front. The staff were absolutely brilliant and could not have helped us more. They organised tours and taxis for us when we emailed ahead, We loved Doolittles bar and restaurant and the staff always had a friendly smile. The Resort reflects the warmth and charm of the Caribbean. It is set on the edge of tropical rainforest in what is probably the nicest natural bay in St.Lucia. Yes you need to catch a ferry boat (for free) to hop across the small bay, but the ferry operator was always there and he was always willing to help and the ferry actually added to our experience. Not surprisingly, given its location, there are chirpy little tree frogs and a number of other small harmless creatures. These have every right to live here and they do, enhancing the atmosphere and bringing delight to many. If you normally stay in a soul-less, modern, multi-national chain style hotel then this may not be your first choice. However for us it was absolutely perfect and we would like to say thanks to all the staff...... We will be back. We read a number of negative reviews before booking and could have been put off, perhaps communication is the key.
Review 87:If you are looking to get to other areas in St. Lucia, the staff can make that happen for you. Just be ready to pay more than you will like for transportation as the cost comes at a premium. But, that is not the resort's fault. It is the way business is done in St. Lucia. There is one thing about the walkways and stairs. They could probably do something about making them less slippery. I slipped, thankfully didn't fall, but if I had it would have been ugly! So, be careful when walking.
Review 88:I liked the location of the resort. It is a bit secluded and takes effort to find your way to any other part of the island. Depending on what you are looking for, that can work for or against you. Marigot Bay is picturesque and well worth the stay. They have all sorts of activities available for you to get into. Oh. And the food - it was delicious. Fresh fish, good roti and delicious salads. Yummy!
Review 89:The room was not so clean,it's says 4star hotel but not, very expensive island, from the airport to the hotel was 70us$,no beach for the hotel, closest beach from the hotel is 25 min with taxi
Review 90:Beautiful view, good food in dollitles restaurant, tango sailing trip was very good
Review 91:the beach is not the best for swimming. although it is ok for a couple of days
Review 92:the place is beautiful. the hotel is located in the best part of marigot bay. rooms are perfectly spreaded on the side of the hill with a really great view on the bay. each room has a lovely terrace / balcony for chill out at anytime. the hotel is in a good syncro with the environment. it is not a cold new minimalistic kinda building. the food at the hotel is exquisite, everything we tried was delicious. maybe a little expensive.
Review 93:Excellent hotel. Peacefull and good service. Location is a privilege. A ferry boat adds charmful to the site. Some tips for hotel guests Do not pay taxi, at the hotel.Pay when watching the car. Advanced payments will allow the driver to resell the trip to a low quality vehicle. As you are done you cannot reclaim.
Review 94:Unfortunately the hotel was dated, the staff were very rude and unhelpful and there were no spa facilities (yoga, Pilates, etc). The website gives the impression of this being a well maintained hotel and it is not. The rooms were not clean and god forbid you went anywhere near the hotels beach as the local 'beach boys' did nothing but harass - and they did this in the resorts complex too, at the bar, at the restaurant, etc. Never again. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 95:The location was lovely. Very picturesque.
Review 96:Property is run down. Needs updating. Had rain leak on my head in the night while sleeping, from the roof. Restaurant prices are ridiculous. Food was ok, but for those prices, it should have been a 5 star restaurant.
Review 97:Beautiful view. Friendly staff.
Review 98:n/a
Review 99:My parents felt right at home with Marigot BAy...the staff was absolutely AMAZING, providing them a great experience as they celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary. The room was clean, with a spectacular view and the overall service is to be commended. The staff is completely dedicated to their guests, as can be seen when my parents missed the last boat back to the hotel and security immediately sent someone back for them. Forever grateful. I absolutely recommend Marigot Bay, all around excellent.
Review 100:Glen the bartender was excellent very friendly also yellow the security and the receptionist (one from Grenada) she's great. Samantha at the spa we loved her. Great location and we absolutely loved the rotis
Review 101:In the map it is close to the airport, in reality it's 30 min mountain road drive
Review 102:Interesting location - the last way is with the motor boat. Nice view about Marigot bay, good restaurant and beach
Review 103:The toilet didn't get work properly, the shower had no hot water, nobody cleaned the shower, the bed sheets were old, dirty and they needed to buy new ones. The shower didnt have a proper plug hole, the towels were old and had rips in them, there was an ant infestation, the kitchenette area was poor and needed updating, the air conditioning machine was faulty, the toiletries needed up dating, no one seemed to mop the floors, the menu food waant always available. The sswimming pool was small and old
Review 104:Beach small and dirty. Restaurant very expensive. Swimming pool dirty. No change of towels in one week. If you don't have a car taxi will cost you 200 $ to go anywhere in the island.
Review 105:the water took long to heat up and showered in cold water when in a hurry arranging transport via boat late at night is inconvenient restaurant menu was too overpriced booked through booking.com and requested a cot which wasn't there on the first night, was told would be placed following morning and was never done. could be a little cleaner
Review 106:the view from the room was nice the rooms were comfortable well air conditioned
Review 107:The hotel is very well located in one of the most beautiful bay of the island, very authentic and with amazing blue/green colors. The hotel is accessible after crossing a short sea channel on a ferry, so you really feel far from everything.
Review 108:Staff service very average some didn't bother to serve us, facility bit old, food over priced, all made up by it being a beautiful spot for a chill out holiday
Review 109:Beautiful spot, not crowded, good to relax
Review 110:outdoor facilities a bit run down, but that adds character to the place though. Complimentary ferry was often broken. Quite expensive restaurant
Review 111:Helpful and kind staff, beautiful and peaceful location, nice view from our room, complimentary welcome drink, powerful shower, fresh flowers in the room.
Review 112:Facilities are slightly tired Limited availibility of dishes fromthe menu Reception wasn't always available
Review 113:Location Staff were friendly Very good value for money
Review 114:Value for money at the restaurant is a bit disappointing. Need to be on the lookout for not being overcharged for other services also (e.g., for watersport activities or taxis order from reception). Getting enough tissue/toilet paper supplies (as mentioned in other reviews) is a bit of a hassle.
Review 115:Very picturesque location. Direct access to the Marigot Bay beach. Free ferry to/from hotel works fairly efficiently/reliably.
Review 116:Hotel very dated and shabby
Review 117:Liked the location
Review 118:Hotel is tired and in desperate need of refurbishment. Staff did not seem to want to work there!
Review 119:Location, view from balcony
Review 120:The fitness room is dangerous, and should be closed before someone is hurt.
Review 121:Everything but the gym,i had a wonderful stay,a little piece of paradise.
Review 122:Rooms are slightly dated
Review 123:Good location in a beautiful area
Review 124:beautiful location, very relaxing
Review 125:The beach with the constant peddlers
Review 126:The location and the nice balcony looking out on the small harbor
Review 127:The hospitality and ambience.
Review 128:Security of my surroundings.
Review 129:Easy access to the beach.
Review 130:The views from the room were amazing and the location was truly peaceful.
Review 131:Great location & very good value.
Review 132:The service/ house keeping was awful. Couldn't wait to get out.
Review 133:The view is spectacular.....
Review 134:Unfriendlyness of staff and guys harassing us in front of the hotel andtrying to sell us drugs
Review 135:Very nice hotel and location
The Fine Print
Please note that the resort is only accessible by boat. The hotel has free ferry transportation to all guests.
