Reviews for Dormy Inn Hakata Gion

Review 1:I loved onsen and it was one of the reasons why I picked Dormy Inn. Unfortunately after I had the first round I felt so itchy. I made no complain because my skin was always very sensitive. However it was a bit of disappointment that I could not enjoy their onsen.

Review 2:Location! Location! Location! It's all within walking distance to Fukuoka Station, 中州 and Tenjin. The room was clean and tidy, albeit a bit small but it's still good for value.

Review 3:Staff didn't speak English well and relatively less polite with other Japanese hotel. It is a bit noisy, wish to have better sound-proof wall/window such as JR hotels that I stayed earlier (Nagasaki & Kagoshima). I didn't hear the train sound though the hotel is just above train station.

Review 4:It has onsen, but no dinner, only ramen at 9:30pm. You can also have your breakfast with pajamas & slippers. It is like in between ryokan & biz hotel. Breakfast is nice.

Review 5:There is a premium version with the same hotel name. Our GPS led us to the wrong hotel which is located not far away.

Review 6:A short walk from subway station. Very good ramen store across the road. Short distance from the airport by taxi. Onsen bath. Tatami room with two beds and two futon for four persons in a room.

Review 7:Staff is lacking of Japanese hospitality and politeness, however it is still acceptable.

Review 8:Onsen is big and excellent. The room size is good considering Japan standard. Near to Gion station, family mart is located in the same building, very convenient. Breakfast was really good with wide varieties.

Review 9:Room very very small. With my luggage in room, no space to move around. The staff not friendly at all. One good spot is that there is a corn tea service you in the lobby.

Review 10:Nothing

Review 11:What's not to like about this hotel ? The breakfast is fantastic, the staff are helpful. All Dormy Inn's have onsen, if you visit Japan stay at least once at Dormy Inn

Review 12:the lady receptionist who worked the morning shift was a bit grumpy.

Review 13:Good location. All the tourist places in that area (Kushida shrine, Canal city) are in walking distance. Offer free hot spring baths. Offer free ramen from 9pm - 11 pm as well.

Review 14:The price (40,000 yen for two nights) was inflated and extortionate because there was a famous Japanese pop group (AKB48) in town. Despite the hefty price-tag, the staff refused to contemplate checking-in even one-minute before the allotted time of 3pm. I wasn't very impressed by all of that. The room was satisfactory.

Review 15:Nice bed

Review 16:Car parking was costly, at 1800 per night at dormy inn Hakata Gion.

Review 17:We stayed in 3 Dormy Inn hotels (Magasaki, Kumamoto & Fukuoka)during our last 8 day trip in Northern Kyushu. All very good.Complimentary night noodle service at all the Dormy Inn hotels wasexcellent.

Review 18:Room is quite small that can only open one luggage at the same time.

Review 19:This hotel is very clean and it is quite convenient to station or shopping sites. Onsen is very good and its security is quite good as password is needed for entering the female onsen.

Review 20:If front can speak more English, that will be even more perfect!!!

Review 21:Onsen Location Reasonable price Well worth We love that it is very close to Hakata so we can manage time with train very easy. And it is very close to Tenjin, Canal City. And it is very close to Nakasu where foods are there all nigh. But once we're tired, we can head back to the peacefully quiet Gion area for Onsen!! and sleep quietly ready for the new day.

Review 22:DIY washing equipment is charged too high.

Review 23:Although the room & bed is small, the great location (close to Gion train station, Family Mart, delicious restaurant), wonderful breakfast, and hot spring / SPA really give us a great impression.

Review 24:Strong smell chlorine in onsen water. Bed could have been bigger, and mattress softer. No English tea in room, only coffee and green tea. We are staying in Grand Central now and they supply Darjeeling tea which is great. No bath.

Review 25:Staff, ramen after 9, free onsen. Excellent onsen,

Review 26:Despite of the poor English of front desk staff, the Japanese lady at front desk simply gave me and my wife a face without smile and speaking without the ending tone. It was as if we were under the detention by the Police/Security Bureau. If you wish to experience the real japanese service (which we have stayed at other spa hotels in other area of Kyushu), you may not get it from this hotel.

Review 27:I booked the breakfast in booking. When I arrivel, I don't know why, they cancelled my breakfast in no reason.

Review 28:The location is good. Free shuttle bus to railway station.

Review 29:The price of parking was well above average (1800 p/n). It was unfortunate that a TV was installed in the 'external' bath area. Not the best way to achieve a relaxing bath. Having booked online it was unfortunate that we had to pay a significant amount more on arrival to use the accessible/universal room so my wife could access those features.

Review 30:The room was good. The bath was good. The location was good. The staff were excellent.

Review 31:Small rooms but that's the norm in Japan

Review 32:Modern, clean, comfortable. All you can ask of a city no frills hotel. Great with onsen attached. Can't complain at all.

Review 33:room is small! but that is the same every where for Japan

Review 34:free hot spring in the hotel is great! Free after dinner noodle soup at dinning room is a plus especially on a cold winter night. Fabulous breakfast!!

Review 35:pillows were too soft there was a not too pleasant smell from the bathroom. we had to spray the air freshener to freshen the air

Review 36:breakfast pleasant staff

Review 37:Very small room even for a double Small double bed - I almost fell off it

Review 38:Location near subway, Canal city and many restaurants English speaking and friendly staff Free ramen at night Free wifi Cleanliness Shuttle bus to Hakata City

Review 39:Should seperate smoking and non-smoking floor very bad smell

Review 40:Nice onsen, clean and comfortable room although a bit small. Staff are helpful and location is good walkable from JR

Review 41:Room is very small. The bed is also small. Smaller than a normal queen size. The pillow is uncomfortable. It flattens totally when you rest your head on it.

Review 42:Excellent location. 5 minutes walk to Gion station. About 10 minutes walk to canal city. Quite a number of restaurants and eateries nearby. Nice onsen

Review 43:front desk English is not good enough during night shift. While check in , reservation check took lots time.

Review 44:Free coffee all day served . Hot spring is good. Breakfast is awesome. Room is good. Space is enough. Before arrived, email communication is good .

Review 45:The light infront of the door is bad, said it's automatically but found it's not so good and do not know how to switch it off. The front desk unable to communicate in English and not so friendly, not helpful.

Review 46:A free ramen is a good idea, breakfast is good, onsen has a great facility, location is good for a traveller who wants to go to famous temples and near a great restaurant.

Review 47:We found some dust on the shelf under TV and on tissue paper box.

Review 48:It's in walking distance from Hakata station. Also, there was shuttle bus to Hakata station in the morning. We walked to Canal city in less than 10 mins. The onsen was big and good enough.

Review 49:Nothing. It was excellent

Review 50:Great location only 10 minute walk from Hakata Station. Lovely onsen which was great to relax in at the end of the day. Breakfast and noodles at night was great. Staff lovely. Would definately recommend.

Review 51:I didn't like the fact that I could only stay one night. I wanted to stay longer, but I was leaving Japan!

Review 52:I love the Dormy Inn Gion! The Onsen, the breakfast, the comfortable bed, the location, the coziness, the convenience, the EVERYTHING! I ..love... Dormy... Inn! Oh, and did I mention, the price? That is good, too.

Review 53:Though the hotel location is good, it's not the most convenience place to stay

Review 54:Location - 10 mins to hakata station. 2 mins to Gion Subway station Walkable distance to nearby attraction

Review 55:Could not figure out the AC. But it was not so hot so I survived.

Review 56:I found the hotel close to city centre, walk of metro. Staff friendly, room clean and comfortable. I would have no issue staying again.

Review 57:Perhaps wasn't good value for money, may have been more expensive the weekend we stayed, got a cheaper and bigger room in Osaka the next day.

Review 58:Lovely onsen, good breakfast buffet and staff were friendly. Location was great, could see as soon as you popped out of Gion subway (exit 2 I think).

Review 59:There's a lots of dust in my kids's room. And if we forgot to bring out the "Please clean the room" the bed will not be done. My kids forgot everyday so the bed was not clean.

Review 60:Onzen

Review 61:Wind of aircon exactly blowing on our face/head but can't change the setting ourselves! Small room and not very clean, even disposed our stuff put on desk. but still good to stay there.

Review 62:onsen, location.

Review 63:The room (especially the bed) is a little bit small for a couple. The breakfast is expensive (1200 Yen). Not fluent english of the home agent.

Review 64:Calm, clean, good situalted in the city and hospital agents.

Review 65:There is nothing to dislike!

Review 66:Dormy Inn Hakata Gion is in a great location...walking distance to many attractions, shopping, Hakata Station for bus, rail and subway. Tokyu Hands and a 100 Yen store is located at Hakata Station. The breakfast is fabulous and the workers are so efficient and humble! The FREE nightly ramen is delicious, too.
