Reviews for Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea

Review 1:Rude and arrogant receptionists! I book the room months in advance. When my friend and I arrived at 4pm to check in, they said that the room was still not ready and asks us to wait for 30 mins. We are an hour late of the supposed to be check in time (which is at 3pm)and still they want us to wait for 30 mins more? I asked if theres anything he can do since this isn't something i can give a solution myself. He was pretty rude and did not offer an alternative way to solve it! Damn this guy doesn't know Customer service. However the manager sure knows his job by stepping in to fix the problem. He gave us a different room and brought us straight by himself to the room.

Review 2:Room is clean and comfortable to stay in. The resort is nice as well.

Review 3:The location, staff, facilities were all excellent. I stayed in a standard room which very well appointed. This is the first time I have stayed at a Kempinski hotel, it definitely wont be the last.

Review 4:Nothing to do and no facilities available for when it's raining.

Review 5:Fantastic location with a great stretch of beach onto the dead sea. The Kempinski Spa is world class and a hidden trove of treasure. Seema - the Spa manager - is the best!

Review 6:Gusts can't use Hotel facilities like pools and sauna and spa.. I have to pay an extra charge... And that's not what booking noted at there website... It was the new year night.. We have to pay for entering the hall I should been told at least when I booked our stay .. :(. And Whyyyyy No drinks allowed to take to the hotel .. So strange. As far as it said no food.. But not drink..

Review 7:As an architect, it has a beautiful buildings but unfortunately it is cold, empty from inside. It looks like an empty and cold museum. The lobby entrance is not welcoming at all. I believe that it need a lot of work in the interior decoration using worm colors and indoor plants.

Review 8:The location, facilities and the staff

Review 9:Unfortunately, this stay was pretty terrible. There were sewage problems and the main building of the hotel smelled pretty terribly, especially near Codes (the Thai restaurant). We paid 68JOD for the Special Menu Christmas Buffet the hotel offered. We arrived at 8pm, roughly 2h30 before the last order and the Xmas food was already finished and most of it was not replaced. We kept asking for the turkey, in particular, since it was the only true Xmas dish, and we were told would be done "in 30 minutes"..Even though we stayed at the restaurant until it closed, we never had a chance to eat it, as it was never actually prepared. They were clearly lying in hopes we would give up waiting and go away (very common practce in Jordan, but one would hope the Kempinski brand would be above it). In the end, we were given a batch of french fries and some fried chicken, which a) is not Christmas food; b) was actually hard to chew and not tasty AT ALL; and c) we could have gotten for 10JD at Bufallo Wings & Rings right next to the hotel (10min on foot, 5min by car). Actually, at 68JD it was so overpriced we could have ordered an Uber to and back from Amman at 25 JD per ride and still paid less to eat the same dish in town (and probably better prepared) and STILL PAY LESS (25+25+10=60). In fact, there were issues with replenishing of foods throughout the entire holiday, to the point of waiting for 40 minutes for an order of falafels at breakfast. Additionally, the guests staying next room were extremely loud and rude (we were awaken at 4am by yelling and shouting on the next room), which made the stay even more difficult Staff seemed completely unprepared to handle any of it, and complaints were normally met with blank stares, like no one had no training or no idea how to solve any of those issues. Overall, this was just a massive disappointment.

Review 10:I stayed in Kempinski back in May and some of the good things from that occasion are still around: great pools, good location, good gym, nice rooms, great shower.

Review 11:- The acess to the spa when it is cold and raining. An underground access. - there is no small shop inside the hotel for chocolate , gums etc. - the breakfast is not very rich.

Review 12:The spa Italian restaurant The food in new year s eve was GREAT!

Review 13:Too many flies. Food left at breakfast needs to be covered as attracted all the flies which is disgusting. Buffet restaurant not as clean as rest of hotel

Review 14:Great location, perfect for floating on the Dead Sea. Lovely pool areas with attentive staff. We were upgraded to a large ocean view room which was very good

Review 15:That we only stayed there one night.

Review 16:We loved absolutely everything! From the excellent service to the incredible quality food, to the amazing location and the luxurious room.

Review 17:Some of the spaces were not kid / family friendly. Room pricing structure is a tad goofy, felt like a shell game when paying bill. Just watch the room charge

Review 18:This resort is amazing!! Everything you would want! The majority of the staff were amazing. This hotel was a splurge on our around the world adventure, but it turned out to more than i had anticipated.

Review 19:The hotel is wonderful and everyone is extremely nice and service oriented. I came to Hotel and Ms. Tugba was incredible. She upgraded me to a nicer room with no additional cost. When i cheked out, I stayed for a few more hours in the hotel and she gave me the towel card so that i can use the swimming pool. At swimming pool Mr Emad was very attentive. I drunk a bottle of water and he brought another one. The beach on the Dead Sea, my room and swimming pools were extremely nice. Breakfast is amazing! Everything is great! I highly recommend this hotel and I will for sure be back!

Review 20:Nothing that would affect your stay. The tennis rackets could be newer, and the room furniture is slightly outdated. Again, nothing major to complain about. The place is a bit pricey.

Review 21:The location is fabulous. You can walk from the property to the dead sea, and are served a bowl full of the mud for your own spa experience. The facility is huge, with its own tennis courts (the rackets could use changing) , spa and an amazing heated infinity pool.

Review 22:Nada!!

Review 23:Staff were always welcoming and ready to help. Everyone showed eagerness to make our stay the most comfortable and convenient. Magnificent premises, clean and fresh.

Review 24:To leave

Review 25:Excellent design that complements and enhances the Dead Sea experience. Large and well appointed rooms. Good variety of restaurants . Excellent spa. Friendly and efficient staff.

Review 26:This hotel was beautiful, clean, and full of great things to do. Our room was spacious and beautifully designed. The complimentary breakfast was the best I've ever experienced, featuring cuisines from around the world. Dinner was delicious and the staff were very attentive and polite.

Review 27:They took a while to organise our rooms, but upgraded our second room without request. And we found plenty to keep us occupied in the meantime.

Review 28:Superbly designed and organised. One of the best Kempinskis I've stayed at. Top class service too.

Review 29:We were told the beach area opens at sunrise which was 06h30 when we were there. However we found that often there were no staff to supply towels, etc and that the area was still littered with empty water bottles and beer glasses from the day before. Perhaps that could be double checked as the rest of the hotel area and pools were always pristine. The Dead Sea is what attracts people to the hotel and the area down there should get double the attention. It is a natural wonder and a privilege to experience it!

Review 30:Great place to relax and explore the Dead Sea and surrounds.

Review 31:Restaurant personnel ignoring us during the dinner and the buffet just included water as a drink. I was expecting more from this hotel.

Review 32:Facilities are great and the beach personnel

Review 33:- Rooms are outdated and a bit smelly - There are flies all over the place so it is impossible to sit outside - We waited 30 min to get a golf car to the reception on our check-out day - Very high prices - bit ovverated - Breakfast quality was a bit poor and too crowded

Review 34:- Direct access to the dead sea - The hotel provides mud for skin treatment - Beautiful view with many pools

Review 35:Extortionate prices for food and drinks even by western standard five star hotels. The fly infestation by the swimming pools. Chaotic breakfast - no one at 5 star hotel should have to wait 15 minutes to be seated for breakfast.

Review 36:Location, friendly staff, pool beach and gym facilities.

Review 37:Only two pools were heated other pools were very cold. They need to find a eco friendly way to control the flies.

Review 38:Great facilities and very friendly and helpful staff. Nice variety in the buffet.

Review 39:NO-THING!

Review 40:Amazing facilities, beautiful hotel, professional staff and great location. All the amenities are here to have a great time with a magnificent location on the dead sea to enjoy straight from the hotel and be able to fully embrace the experience

Review 41:Food was great, beach staff great (Yousef), nothing was too much trouble. Even if hotel was close to Marriott< movenpick and others, didn't feel crowd and Kempinski was definitely the best option. nice DJ by the infinite pool, nice surprise.

Review 42:This hotel is very pricey and unless you find a deal (like on booking.com!) I wouldn't say it was worth the $400+ rack rate.

Review 43:Customer service is incredible at this hotel, as are the pools and restaurants. The main infinity pool bar plays cool chill / house music all day and has a very cool vibe. The Italian restaurant serves amazing food in a gorgeous setting and our server Ibrahim was awesome. Loved floating in the dead sea and generally had an amazing time!

Review 44:The staff are very friendly and the check-in and check-out are very fast! I'm very happy with my stay but it was a little expensive judging that it was not on a high season.

Review 45:The valet people need training the almost destroy my new car. the lift the car on for about 20 hours until the gas is consumed and the battery is dead.

Review 46:If it wasn't that person at the reception desk (Ahmad) who almost spoiled my vacation, I would have scored the hotel a full mark. I believe training of the staff is essential.

Review 47:everything was good 1. clean rooms 2. housekeeping 3. hotel managers (Mr Nour) 4. location 5. food...etc

Review 48:The toilet flush broke twice, but it was fixed quickly. Breakfast was busy on the second day, so they opened up a second restaurant but this had less choices.

Review 49:We visited the Kempinski over Eid, so it was a bit busy, but this can be expected. However, we were upgraded to a suite which was great. Overall staff were very friendly. Ambience of the hotel was good. We ate at the Thai restaurant at night which was excellent, and there's also a large selection in the breakfast buffet. The views from the hotel are stunning, especially from the infinity pool overlooking the dead sea at sunset.

Review 50:We wanted a late checkout and unfortunately the hotel could only offer us an extra hour although this was at no extra cost.

Review 51:Beautiful location and a beautiful hotel with lovely really helpful staff. Breakfast was fantastic.

Review 52:have stayed in this hotel many times and quality has gone down immensely, sad to see this hotel go downwards

Review 53:Beautiful hotel. Very relaxed location overlooking entire Dead Sea, there's a special area for mud and huge private "dead" beach

Review 54:The property needs maintenance. Finishes are getting worn and walls around trash receptacles are dirty. We were kicked out of the sunbeds by a pool at 6 pm while it was still light and we were still chatting with friends. That is much too early.

Review 55:The location on the Dead Sea is great. The design is very interesting. The free minibar is a plus.

Review 56:The resort was understaffed, at many times we couldn't get service at the pool because everything was closed.

Review 57:The location was great, easy to find, the resort was big and spacious.

Review 58:There is absolutely nothing to do in the hotel or the area. All is forbidden. You cannot get alcohol in with you. The staff is clueless and the taxes are SO high it's unbelievable. Such an expensive place for absolutely no reason

Review 59:The view, the clean rooms

Review 60:Stayed at hotel for one night with my wife for anniversary weekend. The experience was excellent from all aspects. Ishtar deluxe room was spacious, well appointed, fabulous bathroom, and immediate access to semi-private pool AND easy access to lowest level pool (great for early morning laps!). Service was exceptional. I informed hotel of anniversary ahead of stay and they offered a small cake on arrival, decorated the room for the occasion, and even ran a bath for us while we were swimming. Had dinner at new Thai restaurant - food was good and reasonably authentic. Breakfast was exceptional. Throughout, service was exceptional. Facilities, world class.

Review 61:Cleanliness - found a lizard in bathroom and a dead bird infront of the balcony. Safety - balcony window was broken, Front office was cool about it. I insisted to fix it instantly then maintenance team were sent.

Review 62:Pools and facilities

Review 63:1. The layout and the design of the room ain't that much (lightning-furniture-shower area). 2. Room service and housekeeping lead time ain't as expected (they take too much time to provide you what you ask for). 3. No clear directions to the main entertainment areas.

Review 64:The complementary items available for free all the times.

Review 65:The only downside for someone who loves coffee in a country with great coffee is the coffee powder in the room, not so tasty.

Review 66:The hotel is amazing, I don't have any complains. The staff is very friendly and helpfull, the room is beautiful, with great space and an amazing view. The guest is always surprised with gracious compliments, fresh fruits, salt from the Dead Sea; very welcoming. You have great pools for all ages and taste, all in a wonderful cadre. The breakfast is huge, with all you may desire and in a restaurant facing the dead sea. We had a great experience at the Kempinsky, I strongly recommend.

Review 67:The service speed on the 14+ pool restaurant was very slow The overall taste and quality of food is very average compared to the exuberant prices

Review 68:Excellent location Staff are very friendly Spa treatment was excellent

Review 69:It was a good trip except that we didn't know that we have to pay for extra beds. I ended and paid extra ON MY TWO ROOMS. Not to mention that we reserved 4 rooms + 1 suite. The cleaning service was good as food that we enjoyed. hoping that we will come back again. all the best.

Review 70:Generally the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea is a four star establishment in the European standards, it lacks the quality and the service of a five star management, the main restaurant looks more like a airport cafeteria than a restaurant, the staff is helpful and kind but with poor English other than the reception area, the public and private areas need a make over, looks quite outdated and worn out

Review 71:Location is good as any other hotel by the dead sea

Review 72:several leveling in the infrastructure of the hotel, but that's the geography of he place and nothing more

Review 73:Staff was very friendly, Kids club facility was excellent specially the staff and Miss Zaheyya who was giving extra care of the kids. also the customer care staff who were continuously ensuring everything was at the expected level for the customers breakfast was tremendous

Review 74:The sightseeing day trips arranged through the hotel were fairly overpriced.

Review 75:The hotel is luxurious and has a very pleasant layout with a number of beautiful swimming pools to choose from. It is in an idyllic location right on the banks of the Dead Sea. All staff I encountered went out of their way to give me outstanding service. The spa was simply incredible and I would recommend it and the hotel to anyone needing a holiday to relax and destress.

Review 76:Our sliding door to balcony would not lock had repair man there for an hour told was fixed on our return to room door was still broken had to wait another hour for repair man to fix very personally invading..Then went for drinks in bar, bar person made mistake on our tab that we had paid for rang our room four times over this mistake by them woke us up for something that could have waited until morning...Had breakfast lots of choice but we asked for cheese and spring onion omelette when it came it also contained mushrooms (these were not asked for) my husband is allergic to mushrooms...

Review 77:Room was nice clean had all necessary parts

Review 78:Public areas ugly, room drab and dark and smelled musty. Restaurant dark and cold, other restaurant full of flies. Left after 90 mi utes and checked into another hotel.

Review 79:Nothing.

Review 80:i ask for late checkout they refused so i had to talked to the duty manager omar mazar"aa he refuse in the first place although i explain that my flight at noon and one of my friends were sick so need to checkout at 3:00 at they end he agrees and move us to another room to stay the extra 2 hours i never had this problem in any other kempenski hotel I choose kempenski worldwide so no matter which country i stay so the staff and managers should behave as per kempenski reputation

Review 81:the location was good

Review 82:The rooms are not too comfortable though big...old TV and bathroom drainage is scary!

Review 83:The property is vast....spa is unique and the staff very understanding! Food is great!!

Review 84:I didnt like the service .as an expert ,i believe that staff should take courses in the cutomer service and how to treat world wide customers.

Review 85:the view is amazing

Review 86:Really bad rooms. Booked a junior suite in the main building, but the suite looked more like a cramped up long room. Bad view. The bedding was definitely old. The minibar stinked as if it wasnt opened for days and the cooling wasnt working in it anyway. Then went for lunch to their italian restaurant (Ashur) ,where there were flies all around sitting on ur food, irritating. Then the AC hardly worked and the staff was indifferent. Also, no one to guide you where the beach is or where the restaurant is. Go fetch for urself.

Review 87:The pools, the location, the view is really good. The property in itself is amazing with its terraces and bars!

Review 88:Can't think of anything that could be improved.

Review 89:This hotel has one of the best personalized service I have experienced. Very clean and comfortable sea view rooms, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.Pools are superb.

Review 90:the type of music in the pool and not cordiality 'of the disc jockey.

Review 91:I liked the nice view , the number and diversity of pools( a lot of nices piscines with different sizes and shapes) I liked a lot the intercontinental breakfast.. The staff working around the piscines and the beach was very nice and friendly

Review 92:Nothing!

Review 93:The place is gorgeous - the grounds, buildings, swimming pools. The bed was really comfortable and the pillows were perfect. Staff was friendly and helpful. We ate lunch by the pool (very good), breakfast and dinner at the main restaurant (great and good respectively) and dinner at the Italian (lovely).

Review 94:Had to wait for room to be readied, which was fine, but a complimentary refreshing drink/snacks would have made the wait more bearable after the long drive. My 'beyond call of duty/extra mile' service recommendation.

Review 95:Everything : Location, staff, rooms, facilities, Porter Mahmour's friendly service in particular.

Review 96:There u fortunately was a thunderstorm at night so all the planned events were cancelled. The hotel could benifit by adding indoor activities. We were left with nothing to do, couldnt even get cards from the giftshop as it closed early.

Review 97:The rooms, service and facilities are amazing.

Review 98:The restaurants and over priced..

Review 99:The customer service is really good. I'm really impressed. And the lifeguards were so friendly. I would definitely visit again. Beat customer service ever. I salute the manager.

Review 100:Employees could be trained better. Hotel is huge so need carts to take you from lower area to upper area. Waiters need more training, missing key fundemental training .

Review 101:Hotel is very well designed and efficient. Infinity pool incredible. Right on the dead sea.

Review 102:a lot of details in the furnishings and fittings in bathrooms aren´t right or already broken, it comes across a bit tawdry in some places

Review 103:great location, great staff, great food

Review 104:the only thing that really bothered us is the cleanliness of the outside of the rooms, although the room is very clean but the stairs and the outside of the rooms was full of dust and the balcony too.

Review 105:The stay was outstanding the service was excellent. the restaurants food is out of this world.

Review 106:There is no water sport , or at least water glide. And what was not comfortable that all the pools close 0,5-1 houre before sunset (ghat was annoying

Review 107:The staff of the services around the pools needs more trainings .and the prices are not reasonabl sometimes .

Review 108:The atmospher was great full of relaxation air

Review 109:The hotel does not have any serious entertainment programs. You will end up having to either go back to your room very early or going to spend some time in the Marriott next door as it has more lively activities.

Review 110:** The hotel is so clean. ** Staff is very polite and friendly. ** Food quality is good. ** It's so quiet as well. Suitable for couples looking for quiet time off.

Review 111:On arrival to reception we ddidnt feel welcomed no water juice or cold towels were offered , it was my 1st year anniversary with my wife and front desk was informed but nothing special happened, we had one small bag it was delivered very late i hade to call twice !! To ask about ! , we went to the bellydamce whihc was nice but the resturant worker asked us to LEAVE , because we didn't order yet !!!! we really expected more from this kind of hotel

Review 112:Different pools , free cold water on pool side , free minibar

Review 113:One of the best hotel in dead sea, we were extremely happy , Staff are very helpful and very nice, rooms spacious and clean, the balcony very big facing the dead sea Great experience in their private beach area so relaxing and the mud available all the time, on Wednesday there was a DJ playing beautiful music on the horizon swimming pool The food over there so Yummi, overall it was amazing vacation Thank you Kempinski team for the lovely stay.

Review 114:The resturant with a lady dancer is not a style that we prefered,i do prefer a guiterist or pianist who can play a lot of oldies songs, jazz, slow, love music, psychedilic, rock orslow rock etc than having a lady dancer night .

Review 115:The life guards pool were so helpful, the staff overall are smiley and serving properly ,the vallet employee were so nice with us.

Review 116:Nothing

Review 117:Best hotel I've ever been to. I've been to many 5 star hotels, this hotel tops them all. My experience from Reception thru the whole stay (3 nights) till check out was extremely superb. I would like to thank all the staff and management for make this experience a wonderful one.

Review 118:No Jacuzzi or Spa in Hotel - Have to pay separate fee for access to these facilities such as Sauna and Steam Room No Fruit Basket in Room! V limited Choice for Lunch and Dinner at 1 or 2 very expensive restaurants Very poor service in Signature Itailian Restaurant

Review 119:Pools Dead Sea Upgrade Room Complimentary Mini Bar Service excellent in general + Special Occasion / VIP treatment Cake, Flowers etc Breakfast Excellent

Review 120:The tv system needs to be improved The service on the beach to be improved

Review 121:How they are trying to add smth no one of the other 5 stars hotels provide it

Review 122:I would like to face more children activities on the beachside, as well as in the pools. The hotel is mostly for adults.

Review 123:Vista is amazing. All rooms are open to the sea. Design of the pools is great too. Thank you.

Review 124:Reception attitude and the hotel is not baby friendly where you need to use stairs and didnt consider trolleys or wheelchair situations.

Review 125:Pools and the atmosphere of the facility

Review 126:Service was not quick we had to wait a long time for every order we did complain to the manager!! The hotel was busy and you were understaffed to cope with the amount of orders!!!

Review 127:Hotel very nice and clean

Review 128:1- as always jordanian staff :( were roughly speaking and dealing with me. 2- bikines and alcoholic drings all over the place as if we were in Europe not in jordan. opscenity is what i did not like. 3- no tissue in rooms only in bathrooms. 4- club cars are mostly not avaliable and they will always say 10 min sir and the 10 min did not finish until i left.

Review 129:Mostly everything is so perfect. I really recommend it.

Review 130:There are some things that hotel management needs to improve: 1. Shower door was leaking - the whole bathroom floor was covered with water every time I was taking a shower. 2. There is a dressing mirror in the room and the hairdryer in the draw, but there is no socket near this dressing table?! How I supposed to dry my hair? Only one socket was available in the room and there was no mirror around... 3. Bar attendants need to have a great training on how to make cocktails! I could not believe what I was given when I ordered pina colada! Honestly guys, this is a 5* hotel 4. Food in restaurants are very average and overpriced.

Review 131:Great place! Excellent location, clean and comfortable rooms. Very good breakfast. Definitely will recommend the place to my friends if bar attendants will make better cocktails!

Review 132:Eventhough two pillows were provided by the hotel, they were two soft and I ended up not enjoying my sleep. Flys/bugs was the other annoying thing! The pestering bugs did not only exist outdoors, they were also indoors; this made my dinning experience less than satisfactory!

Review 133:Staff were extremely friendly, cooperative and professional. The junior suite I booked was spacious and eye-catching.

Review 134:Restaurant quality and price tags. for dinner at the buffer, it was 40 euros per head. if you included a beer or two then this amount was well over the 50-60 euros per head.

Review 135:We liked everything here except the food scene. It was during Ramadan and we only had the choice of the buffet and a poor Italian restaurant. Also pricing of the food was far too high for what you get. The Spa is amazing but prices are to the high end. Overall though the resort and the people working there are amazing. Thank you

Review 136:The bathroom had some signs of usage (like broken handle of the magnifying mirror), but all of them were minor. The prices for the drinks in the bar could be a bit lower (10 JD for 0.3 bottle of beer is too much, I think). Apart that nothing more to complain.

Review 137:This is just an amazing place to stay at Dead Sea. The hotel is just big, but if you don't want to walk you can ask a golf cab to pick you up and transfer to whatever part of the hotel you want. The staff is super friendly. In general, I have nothing to complain at all. One of the best experiences in my life. Hope to come back here.

Review 138:Started with a long time waiting for the check-in. Got to the room AC was not working, after 1h the engineer arrived tried to repair, but the temperature never went below 26. The hairdryer connection was broken, cable energized on air, waited 45 minutes for a new hairdryer, same in the bar or to get a sunbed just passion and wait.

Review 139:Pool is nice but not sunbed available for the guest of the hotel.

The Fine Print

Please note that the infinity pool will be closed for maintenance starting 11 January 2016 to 17 January 2016. During that period of time, guests can enjoy the Sunken pool which will operate from 7:30 to 23:00 as an alternative.
