Reviews for Byblos Fishing Club Guesthouse

Review 1:need some facilites as a refregator , some decoration in rooms

Review 2:The place is amazing , and so calm , next to the Souk and to the Beach same time , the old style is fantastic

Review 3:The location is absolutely perfect - and the staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. This place is a must see in Byblos, it's a true institution to the area!

Review 4:Not worth $80. Should include breakfast for the price. Didnt even supply a hairdryer.

Review 5:The location was excellent, room was small but clean. Very comfortable bed. Staff very helpful.

Review 6:The "deluxe" room was not very nice. The power must've gone out 10 times in one morning, making it hard to get ready.

Review 7:Great location! Also my friend rented the junior suite which had a huge outdoor balcony filled with plants and places to sit. Close to all the wonderful restaurants

Review 8:The location is perfect. We reserved a group of rooms including a suite which had a large outdoor space. The rooms are simple and clean. The staff was very helpful. I would stay again.

Review 9:No clear parking situation

Review 10:Wonderful location in the old port, rooms in historic buildings, friendly staff that offered us a better room since there was a wedding taking place close to the first room.

Review 11:Great location in Byblos, near old souk and all the great restaurants. Junior suite has great terrasse if you're with friends. Amenities are basic but comfortable.

Review 12:Room very small - much smaller than looked in the pictures. nowhere to put your clothes so I wouldn't recommend any extended stay if there are 2 of you. Restaurant not open in the morning to buy breakfast - scope out where you are going to go the night before to save wandering round searching

Review 13:Cute rooms just up from the harbour. Very unique. Lovely decoration. Comfortable beds

Review 14:The room was small, dark and dirty. The value for money of the room (80USD) was poor. I would not stay again in the future if I had the choice. If was off-peak season.

Review 15:Great location.

Review 16:Shampoo was used. We found lizzard in the room. No windows to outside air. Tv remote control batteries were dead. Tv was too high and directed towards ceiling. No fridge. Shower is very small. No breakfast served. No service after 12 am. Restaurant waiter is also the receptionist. No one carried our bags nor offered to. Waiting time to be served was too long.

Review 17:The location is in the heart of Byblos very close to the port.

Review 18:great location, nothing fancy but clean and with AC and TV, and we even had free wifi (which is only available in one of the rooms due to the thick old walls of the buildings)

Review 19:The sheets of the bed are too small for it, so it would come off and it's really annoying because you'll end up sleeping on the matress itself without its sheet.

Review 20:The Location and the concept of the Guest House are amazing.

Review 21:Coast : overly priced. Gates are closed and no one in the morning to talk to . the parking is another issue

Review 22:location is great. Room setting and decoration is amazing. Simple and charming ambiance

Review 23:- the stairs to access the facility are not ideal if you have a baby stroller.( stairs are part of the old town)

Review 24:-The proximity to the port and the historic old town. -The suite had a private patio, excellent space for kids to play outdoors.( not possible in a hotel. - The Facility manager Mr Milad, was helpful and caring. He provided his mobile number in case we needed him.

Review 25:Staff very abrupt/ arrogant about payments upon first arrival andnot clear about vat not included. No reception desk (perhaps that wouldhelp since the staff for the restaurant were also the ones receivingclients for the hotel). Price a bit high for the amount of electricityshortages and small room. No breakfast - absurd!

Review 26:Great location by the port! Very quiet and private. Comfortable andclean room.

Review 27:The suite was cozy with its own private terrace in a very quiet side street off the ancient Byblos port. Very economical compared to other places. We had dinner at the restaurant (Pepe) which was very good especially the Calamari!

Review 28:no WiFi inside the rooms..... its only in the restaurant.

Review 29:The location is perfect.... It is inside the historical and touristic side of the city and overlook the old harbor. The restaurant food is good.

Review 30:EXTREMELY OVER-PRICED. NO ELECTRICITY IN THE ROOMS, IT'S SUMMER & REALLY HOT AT NIGHT & NO AIR CONDITION. NO PARKING SPACE, WE HAD TO PARK & PAY FOR VALET (EVERY TIME WE GO OUT) AND WALK ALL THE WITH OUR BAGS FOR 15 MINUTES TO REACH OUR ROOMS. WE EVEN SAW RATS NEXT TO OUR ROOM!

Review 31:NOTHING. ELECTRICITY WAS CUT OFF ALL NIGHT. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.

Review 32:The outside area should be cared for much more because it really is amazing and it is an asset.

Review 33:The place is really amazing for couples and to host a small gathering or a party outside and even the space incide is good.

Review 34:I didn't like that we were honeymooner, and we weren't treated as so, no decoration although they promised us. plus they refused to provide us with a late checkout, and asked us to immediately leave the room without letting us have our bath knowing that we checked in early in the morning the night before. plus there is no breakfast,

Review 35:location

Review 36:Some parts of the room weren't very clean but they rectified this when I said something. Sometimes there was a bit of noise at night (earplugs recommended). It was a little expensive for what it was.

Review 37:The setting is lovely and the rooms are nicely decorated. The manager was very helpful and friendly. They gave us everything we asked for. It's a perfect location for seeing the sights in Byblos.

Review 38:The mattress had a cotton mattress protector that was lined in plastic on the reverse side which makes you sweat at night - didnt like that.

Review 39:It is a very cute place with rooms nested in old stone structures. The rooms are decent and clean with AC and shower and toilet. Our rooms had a small shared, private patio which meant we could sit outside as a group. Charming place, really. You dont really expect service- you just want to feel like you are in your own private little place in Byblos as opposed to being in a hotel - which is perfect. You are minutes from the souk, the old port, and the fortress. Perfect location. We would definitely do it again.

Review 40:No breakfast offered, but espresso is available, and there is a great breakfast place close by.

Review 41:These little huts are perfect- right on the harbor and connected to a fabulous restaurant. It's quiet, beautiful, and has everything you need (AC, water, tv, toiletries, espresso machine). I love the set up with the common courtyard- it's perfect for small groups. Great value!

Review 42:Our room had no wardrobe, nor a shelf for clothes. On Sunday, local restaurant would play loud wedding music that made it impossible to sleep. Luckily, it lasted just until midnight.

Review 43:Byblos is very interesting itself, and Pepe Abed's Guesthouse would only emphasize the authenticity of this lovely town. Our stay at Gueasthouse made a lot easier because of two lovely people working there: Miled and Ranya. They will do everything for you, from calling a taxi to recommend of interesting places to visit across Lebanon. There is also Nabil, taxi driver (Byblos taxi) who was the only one speaking English, and was more like a tourist guide for us. Room has a great terrace. and was cleaned daily by a lovely lady. We had a flights with very unusual time, but the late check-in (about 4 in the morning) and early check.out (about midnight) was no problem.

Review 44:Didn't like sharing the common court yard that much... BUT loved the location which out rated that and the fact that it is JUST so close to everything.....and a great rate.

Review 45:Service was great, room small BUT clean with AC and quite location...never heard a sound..... and cleaned daily.

Review 46:No breakfast on offer. Bring your own, or use Byblos Sur Mer hotel nearby. Restaurant is very expensive if you eat fish (but then they all are in Byblos).

Review 47:Location. Room had its own terrace. Very good value.

Review 48:Being so close to the harbour meant that it was not that quiet.

Review 49:Service was fantastic, and the view from the little hut over the harbour was gorgeous. Very private in its own little compound shared with one other room.

Review 50:They don't provide breakfast and it's difficult to get breakfast in Byblos

Review 51:The rooms are very quaint and well styled and there is a great restaurant linked to the fishing huts

Review 52:There is no room service or a minibar, bring your own water and snacks. The pillows were not comfortable but not soo bad.

Review 53:It is close to all the restaurants and pubs where you can enjoy your time in Jbeil. No need to drive, most of the happenings are withing walking distance to you.

Review 54:Service could be better: Restaurant workers could be a bit more relaxed and also smile more. The locals say the place used to have a better owner. No good view from the hotel room.

Review 55:Great location near the port. Fair price when booked early!

Review 56:Utterly disinterested manager at the fishing club restaurant. Being charged $4 for an instant packet cappuccino. Nearly $90 a night for very basic room means a big profit margin for the fishing club. Would be nice if they even feigned liking their guests. Take a lesson from say...owner of "La Paz" bar further up in town - very affable and welcoming!

Review 57:Location - wonderful place and well worth a visit. Guesthouse very convenient, but please don't rely on this alone.

Review 58:The hotel is with perfect location but as per room and services very bad.Such a place is perfect needs a little renovation and this hotel will be the perfect in byblos

Review 59:Quite honestly, everything: The rooms were cute and gave us a unique experience of staying in the same place fishermen once did. The restaurant had great food, really cool dining rooms providing a preview of the past, and a lovely view over the harbor. As for the staff, they were the best!! When I got sick from a drink I'd had at a different restaurant in Byblos Miled, the manager, dropped everything in the middle of a crowded restaurant to drive my boyfriend to a pharmacy. He then kept checking up on me and took it upon himself to make sure the restaurant whose food got me sick was aware. Miled cares about his guests having a good time in Byblos/Lebanon in general, not just at Pepe's and is a great example of how service should be everywhere. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Review 60:No breakfast included.

Review 61:The location is great at the old harbour of Byblos. The room has a nice terrace and it is conveniently furnished (except that there is no facility to hang your clothes).

Review 62:Absence of wifi in the room Less light and views from the room No breakfast possibilities

Review 63:The wonderful location in Byblos The incredible nice and efficient staff, that support everything we need Originality and authenticity of the spaces to live Restaurant space and quality of the food External spaces linked to the rooms

Review 64:Wifi is not available.

Review 65:It's nice for a short stay. It's a walking distance to everywhere you want to go in Jbeil. It's a hut, so no minibar or lots of toiletries but it's very clean and safe with a nice porch.

Review 66:Nothing.

Review 67:Beautiful, the harbour is lovely, the coastline is gorgeous. The suite we had was lovely, with it's own terrace, quiet and private. The food at Pepe's is great.

Review 68:overpriced for basic accomadations. The rooms are much smaller than pictures insinuate.

Review 69:The staff are wonderful people and made every effort to accomadate us.You are paying for location which is wonderful.

Review 70:Slightly grumpy man at reception who couldn't find our reservation and seemed to blame us - even though it was their mistake...

Review 71:Great location, right by the marina - you couldn't want for a better spot in Byblos. Rooms were small but cute and very secure. I'd definitely return here.

Review 72:We stayed for five lovely days at Pepe Abed's- still run with care by Pepe's son and enjoyed every minute. The room was small but clean, quiet and perfectly located. We had everything we needed and felt part of a family. Highly recommended.

Review 73:Byblos fishing club is absolutely the best place to stay in Byblos. We were a group of 7 friends travelling from London to Lebanon for our friends wedding in mid June. I accidentally reserved for the wrong week and Miled waited up till 12 at night, when he realised my error he was quick to help me out and didn't apply any charges. We loved it so much we booked for an extra night and Miled moved the existing bookings around so that we could stay in the same rooms. Miled and Rania couldn't have been more wonderful and we are already planning our next trip!

Review 74:The room is small but OK for 1 person. The room I was in wasn't really quiet. 2 rooms side by side mean you (and your neighbours) have to be very quiet.

Review 75:Great location, within a few minutes walk to everything in Old Byblos. Great view of the old harbour.

Review 76:Water problems.

Review 77:Location

Review 78:Reception

Review 79:Pepe's Beach club is a charming and fascinating institution right on Byblos harbour.

Review 87:In the heart of the old town and Byblos is a very special place

Review 103:It was quite and comfortable room in a busy area.

Review 104:Courtesy of the staff, location 5 min walking from the ruins and the night life of the suk, quite and relaxing stay.

Review 105:No tea & coffee & kettle

Review 106:Loved the Pease and Quiet, very friendly helpful staff

Review 107:The rooms are basic but that's not the problem. The managing staff are the worst on the planet; they are disrespectful.

Review 109:More than helpful staff. Great location. Near the old city and ruins.

Review 110:Very homy place to stay for few days in byblos for tourism. It's location is perfect for people who want to walk in the old city.
