Reviews for Hotel Residence San Gregorio

Review 1:Restaurant was so-so. Sofa bed in suite had too thin a mattress.

Review 2:Modern facility, proximity to center of town, free parking. easy accessibility for auto travel.

Review 3:This is the place to stay while visiting Pienza! It is spacious, the management is gracious, and there is a top notch restaurant in the building, and there is free underground parking. Plus it's just half a block from one of the (walled city) gates.

Review 4:The breakfast is good, but can be better (although I generally think European breakfast is generally kind of simple and lacking variety)

Review 5:Everything is perfect! This hotel is by far the best three star hotel I have stayed at. The staff is very helpful, answering all questions with big smile. The location is perfect with free parking, and a supermarket close by.

Review 6:Spacious rooms. Nice furniture. Excellent centered location if you want to have the several tastes from Tuscany like winery, historical buildings and relaxing on thermal pools.

Review 7:No bad experience - only that the hotel is lacking in the character and charm that is so aboundant in Pienza

Review 8:The Hotel San Gregorio is a nice central place to stay and to explore beautiful Pienza. It's a Clean, comfortable, and a functional Hotel. It offers good value.

Review 9:The owners were lovely and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. Food was OK, not really special. Room just fine. Town charming and location of hotel perfect for getting in and out of town.

Review 10:Furnishings are austere, and seem more so because light levels are very low. More and brighter lights (fixtures and/or lamps)would have greatly improved our comfort.

Review 11:Great location at the gate of Pienza's historic center, with secure free parking behind the hotel complex. Very pleasant restaurant adjoins the hotel. The large room (a suite, really) was handsomely furnished with traditional furniture, including chest, dining table, and armoire. Convenient self-catering equipment (though we did not use it,) Good wifi. Tile floors were a bit cold in autumn, but probably feel wonderful in summer.

Review 12:We had a generously sized room with modern bathroom facilities. The location is very quiet, but close to the historical centre of Pienza. Breakfast is provided in the restaurant in the same building, reachable around a corner and with a good choice of food and drinks.

Review 13:Bed was a tad firm

Review 14:Fantastic location. Excellent breakfast. Great car parking Friendly staff Spacious suite Hotel in excellent condition, and being well maintained

Review 15:It was a bit difficult to park and drop off the luggage at first, as there is no lift from the parking. Furniture looked quite old

Review 16:Friendly staff, spacious room, right in the center. Very good restaurant Dal Falco - just around the corner. Coop supermarket is within a walking distance.Private underground parking, enough space even for bigger cars. Good breakfast in the restaurant in the same building.

Review 17:Staff in the restaurant - seems that they are not interested in they work and are not satisfied for something. Never smiled and always was angry. Breakfast could be better. Could be used better products. Apartment for 4 people is more suitable for 2 adutls and 2 kids than for 4 adults. Double bed actualy was a sofa bed and it was very unconfortable.

Review 18:Location is very good. Staff in the reception is very helpfull.

Review 19:I think only restaurant could be better, going to Italy i set high expectations to restaurants. Don't understand me wrong it wasn't bad but it wasn't good

Review 20:Wi fi is a little poor and in my opinion breakfast can be a little rich

Review 21:Location is perfect, the room was very huge, and u have your own kitchen which means if u have a little child, this kitchen saves your life And the staff is perfect, they are really helpfull for everythink The hotel has its own garage so u dont need to think where u gonna park

Review 22:We had a suite overlooking the pool so we had lots of room. Car parking under the hotel and near a small supermarket is good. If you like walking in the morning, there's a great walk along the old city walls and out into the countryside, and you can go down any of the side roads if you want some down and up variety. (Just cross the main road and go straight down to find the walk, two minutes from the hotel.) The hotel is just outside the old city and there are lots of terrific places to eat within the city walls. The family who own and run the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The pool was lovely after a hard day touristing around this beautiful area.

Review 23:No safe in the room.

Review 24:Location in the center of the city with private undeground parking besids hotel. Close to restaurants. Clean and comfortable room.

Review 25:la colazione e' in un bar esterno con un buffet abbastanza limitato, vista l'accoglienza della struttura e' l'unica pecca e puo' sicuramente essere migliorata

Review 26:posizione molto centrale, staff eatremamente cortese, parcheggio coperto, stanze ampie, wifi free

Review 27:Difficult to find somewhere to park/stop nearby on arrival while getting garage key from reception. Loud music from karaoke at bar next door although it finished quite early.

Review 28:Very friendly reception. Suite of rooms (if simply furnished). Excellent dinner and breakfast in their restaurant (nest door) included in great value DBB package. Free garage parking. Very close to town centre.

Review 29:Nothing...it is a lovely hotel that I would readily recommend to others visiting this area.

Review 30:Location, architecture of the hotel, simple but lovely room, very generous and satisfying breakfast.

Review 31:We wanted to go out to take a sunrise shot over tuscany hills but the front door was closed (will open at 7AM). We didn't know that we can use the emergency exit at the side door and need to call the staff.

Review 32:- Excellent location, town center and tuscany view point is just across the street - Excellent breakfast - Free private parking (but you need to check-in to get the key first) - Staff facilitated us for our late check-in

Review 33:Nothing

Review 34:we liked everything about this hotel. We stayed in four different hotels during our two weeks in Italy and this was by far the best. Location, suite, staff, parking-all were excellent. Ideal place to stay while enjoying Tuscany.

Review 35:could have been better if there is a reserved 5 minutes parking space in front of the hotel, so people could park, check in and get the key to the garage, rather than wondering where the complimentary parking is.

Review 36:localtion, staff, cleanness. Nicola was very helpful when we found what was booked through booking.com in his note was slightly different from my record. Parking was so convenient that we parked the car and went directly into the UNESCO old town for a walk in late afternoon before coming back (200m) to the hotel and checked in.

Review 37:The breakfast is a little bit disappointing. Very few selections and the yogurt was without cover and surrounded by many flies.

Review 38:Love this hotel! Reception was welcoming, room was clean and stylish, and the location was good.

Review 39:Dull, Spartan, charmless room interiors. Lacking obvious facilities such as waste paper bins except in bathroom; no coffee-making facility; cheap sachets of shampoo. Noise from outside the hotel ( bar, school), and inside hotel due to hard floors and powerful acoustics. Breakfast tedious after a couple of days.

Review 40:The exterior; the position; adjacent parking, room size, not expensive

Review 41:Leaving

Review 42:The staff, the food, the suite and the town are absolutely delightful and a perfect spot to headquarter for a Tuscany adventure. Pienza and Hotel San Gregorio were incredible.

Review 43:Breakfast only Ok not great, wifi spotty

Review 44:Good location 100 yards from city center. Large (for Italy) shower and bathroom. Nicola on the desk and Mario in the dining room very friendly and helpfully Pienza beautiful small town close to Montalcino and Montepulciano L

Review 45:There is nothing not to like, hotel is right in the beautiful town of Pienza a true gem, close to visit other wonderful towns nearby, we were sad to leave this beautiful place

Review 46:Hotel website gives the impression that bike hire is available in the hotel but in fact, it's not. It's through an agency in the town, which only deals in a particular type of bike. A very small complaint, really! And hotel was helpful in suggesting an excellent alternative...Ciclo Posse.

Review 47:Restaurant was perfect when we arrived quite late at night. Great service and lovely meal. We appreciated the help with bicycle hire and being able to have a shower after bike ride though it was well past check out time.

Review 48:No refreshment availability by pool.

Review 49:Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Very welcoming despite our delayed arrival. Hotel just outside old town wall and with its own car park very convenient. Nice pool.

Review 50:Friendly family run hotel Staff could not have been more accommodating Had pool area to ourselves Excellent base to tour whole of central tuscany Underground car parking excellent

Review 51:We stayed here two nights and had a very pleasant experience. The room is not opulent, but is very nice and had everything we needed. Everything was clean. The location was very good. We drove in and were able to park in a parking structure at the back of the hotel. It was complimentary...you get a key to go into the underground structure when you check in. The hotel is just outside and across the street from the old city of Pienza. A very easy walk brings you into the old city. We were pleasantly surprised and had no idea how beautiful it would be, with a magnificent walk along the old wall that has a fantastic view of the countryside. Pienza is a great place to be if you want to visit Montalcino and Montepulciano. Both a very short drive away.

Review 52:-Breakfast was very poor. Not fresh. Bad selection. Not refilled frequently. -Beds were hard. -Most of the staff did only speak italian.

Review 53:-Free parking under the hotel -Dinner at the restaurant was good

Review 54:Breakfast very poor for Kitchen that was in Michelin guide, not sure how that works. All food provided as part of buffet was poor quality, cheap produce from an area with an abundance of excellent quality products, unforgiveable and can't really cost much more to have good quality fruit, pastries, cereals, cheeses, etc so don't know why this lets hotel down. Happy to pay extra for good breakfast but if it's included make it acceptable. Didn't try restaurant on account of the breakfast. Also didn't get the resident parrot squaking at the restaurant during the day, completely out of synch with relaxing at adjacent pool. Hopefully these comments accepted as recommendations which would improve overall visitor experience.

Review 55:Location, pool, size of room, reception staff, Pienza beautiful, quiet location.

Review 56:Almost perfect except the beds are old and not so comfortable

Review 57:Good location in the center of Pienza ; very helpful and nice staff ; the room is big enough ; the restaurant in the hotel should be well recommended , very delicious Tuscany style food and the price is good , especially guests in the hotel can get discount.

Review 58:Very beautiful hotel right outside the main city gate of Pienza. Hotel grounds are very nice with a large grassy pool area. Morning breakfast included in the daily rate was very good with a wonderful restaurant staff. Great value in a very quite Tuscan town!

Review 59:A very poor breakfast. Very little fresh fruit, at a time when the shops are full of seasonal fruit. The croissants were stale, and the eggs were cold.

Review 60:High level Staff.

Review 61:the general atmosphere, the warm welcome of the staff, the excellent breakfast, and excellent position!

Review 62:There was no safety deposit box in the room.

Review 63:Location. Big room. Big bathroom. Secure underground parking. Smiling staff.

Review 64:Great location clean hotel

Review 65:Best location for Pienza. Good hotel and good restaurant.

Review 66:Great location and free underground parking was a big benefit in a small town with limited parking.

Review 67:fantastic location

Review 68:family owned and nice personal touch

Review 69:Bit ornate, but all the hotels are like that in Pienza

Review 70:Location - accessible to Pienza centre and good parking. Nice market/festival going on.

Review 71:Noise & echo from the hallway was loud. We woke up when ppl walked and opened their doir normally.

Review 72:Service & location was great!

Review 73:Spacious rooms - very clean and well maintained. Pool lovely to cool off in and very handy underground car park

Review 74:Big rooms, great location,parking

Review 75:Parking is a little bit confusing

Review 76:It is located at very wonderful place of Pienza. And breakfast is excellent

Review 77:Very close to Pienza center, very spacious room, clean bathroom, nice breakfast, great staff

Review 78:Everything..Location, Staff, Breakfast, etc.

Review 79:Friendly staff, spaciuos room.

Review 80:the room was a bit murky noise from corridor and upstairs (problems with accoustics?)

Review 81:beautiful old building Friendly staff garage

Review 82:They have parking lot and the location is great. Just few minutes walk to the city center. The staff are very nice and helpful. Breakfast is fine.

Review 83:nothing

Review 84:the location, the staff, and the breakfast

Review 85:From the charming staff to the great location this hotel is a super place to stay!

Review 86:No kettle for hot drinks in suite No vegetables at breakfast No fresh bread at breakfast

Review 87:Size of suit Clean Location Staff Reasonable price

Review 88:No hot water kettle in room

Review 89:Location was excellent. Pienza was fabulous to visit. Good undercover parking. Nice pool.

Review 90:great location

Review 91:Absolutely wonderful hotel in a perfect location. Great staff. New hotel. Beautiful setting for breakfast. One minute stroll to walled city.

Review 92:Wifi was poor

Review 93:Really nice place, great location for visiting Pienza. Just by the entrance to the old town.

Review 94:Everything

Review 95:Location, staff, parking and price.

Review 96:Nothing special

Review 97:very good location, friendly staff

Review 98:Perfect location... Wonderful hotel

Review 99:We should stay longer

Review 100:Pienza was great great surprise! Loved the hotel!

Review 101:Restaurant food ok but not excellent

Review 102:Friendly staff in an excellent location

Review 103:Beautiful town just a few minutes walk away with some lovely local restaurants

Review 104:The hotel is located in the most central Florence's historic district. The hotel has an agreement with the parking garage which is nearby (350 meters). As we were the guest of The Residence San Gregorio hotel, the garage parking staff gave us a very low price for parking our rented car for 3 days. On the last day the vehicle was brought to our hotel so we did not have to walk with our luggage to the garage and it was very helpfull for us.

Review 105:Strong perfume in halls & lobby. A group of tourists was blamed, however, 3 days after their departure the odour lingered. I suspect cleaning fluids & poor air movement in the hallways. Otherwise the stay was excellent.

Review 106:Location, deal at restaurant, €22 each for residents, excellent service by staff.

Review 107:On both sides of the pool there are uncompleted buildings, which is not attractive. Not enough sun beds around the pool. At breakfast there were flies on cheese, ham etc. Would be better if they were covered and cooled, especially with hot weather.

Review 108:The hotel is in a perfect location, just a short walk into centre of Pienza. A lovely town! Very friendly at reception!! We were lucky to get an appartment and therefore had lots space. The underground parking was very handy. Enough choice at breakfast.

Review 109:Breakfast could have been better, don't. Appear to have pool. Lots of street noise

Review 110:Excellent location a few hundred metres from town Own Parking Comfortable room

Review 111:No TV in the bedroom; shower head in an odd position, that water always leaked from curtains. A lot if room with separate living/dining, but not enough bathroom shelving. Would like screens in windows so bugs don't fly in and bother at night.

Review 112:Friendly staff. Location was good; town and restaurants in walking distance. Parking garage was definitely good to have, but a little difficult to maneuver car in the space.

Review 113:The pool was not open....end of May, a bit strange. Wifi could be bit faster!

Review 114:English is difficult for Italians but the staff really do their best. No problems with understanding each other. We stayed 10 days in Pienza and we had a great time in this lovely hotel. The suite was spacious, very clean. Breakfast buffet was okay, typical Italian. We had to walk outside to get to the restaurant for breakfast, no problem! The parking garage is free and spacious. 50 meters walking from the old centre, perfect!

Review 115:The room was a bit far from the parking lot. If you have lots of luggage; it might be a problem. But is was not that much of problem for us.

Review 116:Excellent location. Large parking and big room. Kiteche in the room may come handy even though we didn't use it.

Review 117:Friendly staff. Big room (in fact a big room and a living room), very convenient for a family. Good bathroom. Nice breakfast (excellent capuccino!), lots of sweets but also salty. Excellent location, just outside the city walls. Free parking (very handy). A nice, charming place.

The Fine Print
