Reviews for Hostellerie La Butte aux Bois

Review 1:Check in and check out was but messy; wanted to offer room of lower category, problems with the credit card reader... Perfection is what customers visiting a relais chateau, are expecting.

Review 2:Fantastic setting right at the entrance of the Limburger national park. Fantastic gourmande restaurant La Source with a excellent wine selection

Review 3:The room was poorly lit. Atmospheric lighting is all very well, but it is difficult to see to read and you lose things more easily.the shelf in the shower was useless as the small bottles kept falling over. Could do with more shelf space in bathroom. People travel with a lot of cosmetics and toiletries these days.

Review 4:The bistro restaurant. The size of the room and the gardens

Review 5:Not a bad experience but the food in the bistro lacked variety nothing suitable for someone which plain tastes.

Review 6:the peace and tranquillity of the hotel, the excellent bedrooms,

Review 7:That we couldn't stay longer.

Review 8:Absolutely everything. From the Location to the hotel grounds, to the staff, to the food. The breakfast was the best we have ever had. It was sheer quality. The staff were the best trained we have ever encountered. We have stayed in many top quality hotels in the world, but this was by far the best. Dinner and wine were superb fine dining.

Review 9:That's an easy answer. There was nothing that we did not like.

Review 10:The location, the accommodations and the professionalism of the entire staff. It is and was exactly as each reviewer stated. Hands down, the best among bests!

Review 11:no bad experience but a little help to open the room and get the luggage out of the car in the bed room would have been appreciated. This lack of service is not understandable as my wife had a hip operation.

Review 12:the location the bar the staff the food at diner (excellent and very good price ratio), etc..

Review 13:we were taking a road trip from Netherlands to Belgium, was going to stop at Maastricht, but then we found this hotel right at the entrance of a national park (only 10mins drive from Maastricht). The room is much nicer than what it is shown on their website, the ground is amazingly beautiful and relaxing, weather is perfect in autumn, the service is great (a lady helped to bring dinner from restaurant to my room becuz I didn't feel well by jet lag), and the bed is comfortable. love this place a lot n wish we could stay for few more nights!

Review 15:The wellness area is too small, with smokers on the terrace!?! Our room was located in the souterrain and the ceiling was (too) low, giving a claustrophobic feeling. The price!!! For a room like this, 245 EUR for a night (excl. breakfast) was overpriced.

Review 16:Hotel Surroundings Silence Free Nespresso in the room Breakfast

Review 17:Myself and my elderly Mother were made to wait 5 HOURS for our room, we were offered a seat in the "Wellness Centre" dining room which was extremely hot and uncomfortable. We were offered NOTHING to drink WHATSOEVER while we waited, but seeing the bill at the end of the 2 days were where there, I am very glad they didn't!I specifically requested a room on ground level with wheelchair access, we were deliberately put in a room on the LOWER ground level. There was a lift next to the entrance but after just 3 hours at the hotel the lift broke! We had just had our "evening meal" and returned to the villa to find the lift was out of order, it did eventually take us down but after that it that it wouldn't do anything, this left us COMPLETELY STRANDED in the villa with no means whatsoever of getting up or down the stairs as the lift was the ONLY means of disabled access.During the time we waited for the lift to be repaired we were told by the housekeeping ladies that it was the extreme heat (100 degrees) that was causing the fault but the bellhop told us it was not the heat as they had the same heat last year and it had no effect on the lift. He later agreed with the receptionist that it WAS the heat, effectively LYING to us about it.Our purpose for being there was to see André Rieu in concert in Maastricht, we only stayed in Belgium as we couldn't book a room anywhere in Holland close to the venue at the time. With only 3 HOURS until the concert started, they offered to let us use another part of the wellness centre accessible by a working lift so my Mother could change for the event. This room was the swimming pool changing room and was even hotter in there than out in the sun!As I was about to ask to use a cooler area to get changed, they finally decided to move us to the first room on the ground level, which SHOULD have been reserved for us from the start as we had requested it at booking.

Review 18:We were able to get Liverpool FC legend Sammy Lee's autograph, who was very friendly and pleased to sign for us, he even chatted with my Mother and called her by name. An extremely classy person who was a pleasure to meet, other wise absolutely NOTHING!

Review 19:Not an awful lot! It's a great place if you want to be in the national park!

Review 20:Beautiful, lush and natural surroundings in the national park. Amazing walks and bike rides to be taken from this hotel - a true countryside retreat but rooms and facilities of a high quality 4 star hotel. Comfortable, clean rooms and bathrooms.

Review 30:Breakfast was maybe a little steep

Review 31:Friends wedding was very enjoyable and picturesque. Service was fantastic-staff very friendly.

Review 32:Long wait for a table for dinner as very busy - should have prebooked the evening dining time as advised

Review 33:Luxury, feeling welcome.

Review 34:We had a great stay; although it was only for 1 day. After checkout on Sunday morning we were allowed to use the wellness facilities, these were excellent. Also loved the free nespresso in the room.

Review 35:Still very expensive, good for once. We had room 54 and the noise of the heating (boiler ?) was annoying, especially during the night.

Review 36:Excellent restaurant with superb menu and wine selection, very comfortable room and excellent bed.

Review 37:None

Review 38:Excellent breakfast, 1-day laundry service, nature around is perfect. We were on a business trip and the hotel was very conveniently located (15 min drive from maastricht) and had lot of place for a walk before going to bed. Would definitely return :)

Review 39:As the building is a charming old building, you can experience some noise from halleay or so. Nothing really disturbing though

Review 46:A beautiful Hotel with every comfort you could need. A very good deal using Booking .com, which bought it within our price range! Even the weather cooperated so that we could eat both dinner and breakfast outside. It was wonderful.

Review 47:The fact that we had to cancel 1 of 4 rooms and you failed to pass this on to the hotel. If I had not had the email from you, we would have had to pay for the room. Sloppy admin on your part.

Review 48:Very nice hotel.
