Reviews for Hotel Monte Cristo

Review 1:Only thing is that noise travels in this inn. The doors are not thin but quite a bit goes through them. This was absolutely not a problem for me, but I'm not so sure I'd recommend it to Honeymooners or someone who snores and wants to make friends.

Review 2:Wonderful building in a great location with great, professional staff. The interior design elements are very tasteful.

Review 3:Winter time in Kotor is still season, but you better look for a place with heating (as it can get rather cold in the night), restaurant open all day and "fine food and wine" (Luna Rossa, -- I also liked the breakfast much), and internet (in case you want to or have to work). Internet might be a problem everywhere in Montenegro (not for the fault of the hotel), so better be equipped with a mobile data SIM card as backup (I bought a roaming pass from Telenor). The location is excellent, and if you do not want to squeeze yourself in between the hundreds of tourists arriving with the cruising ship, just choose the Northern Entrance to the Old City (Rijeka gate) and tell the taxi to drop you there. In comparison to other destinations on the coast, you will not feel alone in winter time in Kotor.

Review 4:No bad experience.

Review 5:Spacious room, comfortable bed, hot shower, excellent staff. Breakfast was abundant and very good. They saw that it was my husband's birthday on his passport and surprised us with a bottle of wine.

Review 6:We were there in the off season so breakfast was not as sumptuous as it normally would have been, but still great.

Review 7:Small cozy hotel in the heart of Kotor. Very friendly and accommodating

Review 8:I can see where this could potentially be a little loud in the city surrounded by some night life spots. It was rainy on our visit and everything was quiet by midnight.

Review 9:The rooms are a good mix of historic property and modern convenience. Nice restaurant on the property. Family room was excellent with kids

Review 10:The shower overflows. This seems to be a prevalent phenomenon through our Adriatic tour.

Review 11:The hotel gave us the coordinates of the parking lot just outside the Old Town and sent a golf cart to pick us up and the bags. Compared with our experience with other Old Town hotel adventures, this is really easy and makes us feel welcome. The hotel is housed in a charming old house. I still can visualize the property with my eyes closed.

Review 12:Noise from the bar behind went on until 2-3am and was REALLY loud - not the fault of the hotel but would make me reconsider staying here again

Review 13:Great hotel in a good location

Review 14:The staff were all great, very courteous, cheerful and helpful, the location was ideal and overall we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you to everyone at the MC.

Review 15:The noise from the bar opposite. Music and noise started at 10pm and finished about 1 am. Lots of stairs which you expect.

Review 16:Loved this boutique hotel. The staff were very helpful and always had a smile. The restaurant was excellent The location for sight seeing within the walls was fanastic. Great service from the time you book.

Review 17:It is a beautiful old building with lots of dark wood, stone and tile with a very accommodating and friendly staff. The room was very spacious and comfortable, the location in old town Kotor could not be better.

Review 18:Access from parking is difficult.

Review 19:Excellent location right in centre of town. Attractive original stone building which has been converted in a quality fashion

Review 20:Facility is old. Style of the architecture is old which is fantastic but the infrastrucre in the building is really limited. Water pipes are not working good. Hot water availability is completely insufficient. Near the hotel there are bars working and playing live music till 01.00am. They make loud music! While reserving the hotel keep these in mind.

Review 21:Staff is positive and helpful. Location is perfect.

Review 22:The air conditioning and fridge are very noisy.

Review 23:Location is perfect, free car park is useful, the hotel arranges an electromobil to the parking. Beautiful breakfast area on the open air.

Review 24:What really disappointed us during hot days was not functioning AC and not-soundproof windows. With around +30C outside at night we had to keep windows open to get some air circulation and tolerated very loud music till 1 a.m. (which is a kind of local rule). It got a bit cooler later at night but was not enough for a good sleep. I believe the staff can take care of the AC (which is apparently not new and most probably just in need of regular maintenance as it works merely like a fan) and refill it so that it functions properly. However, even with efficient AC and closed windows the room will not be absolutely quiet. In addition, doors also should have some sound-proof qualities.

Review 25:Location, interior, furniture

Review 26:There is no onsite parking within the walls but the hotel staff will pick you up at the nearby parking lot and the parking fees are waived. They have a golf cart and they can transport your luggage.

Review 27:Kotor was amazing! Very beautiful hotel. Worth the price to be inside the charming walled city.

Review 28:There is a jazz bar next door to the hotel which had a live band until 2am - we could not sleep at all. We did ask before we booked in if we could have a quiet room and they upgraded us for no extra charge!

Review 29:Very quaint boutique hotel in a stunning setting

Review 30:Nothing

Review 31:Absolutely great boutique hotel. Loved it. Would go back if staying in Kotor. Service was phenomenal! Breakfast is Fantastic. Staff is very responsive. Had one request that was done in no time. When I arrived at the hotel, I needed to make some complicated changes to my travel itinerary and get some other things in order. I travel a lot for work, but the lady at the hotel (Suncica) was the most competent receptionist I ever encountered. Thank you very much!

Review 32:Only issue is that the music from the bar next door is so loud at night that we had to close the windows (good seal!) and use the air conditioner.

Review 33:Clean, cute, friendly staff and gr3eat location (and breakfast)

Review 34:Very noisy! The bar open next to the hotel open until 1am!!

Review 35:They help you to deliver your luggage to/from your room to ground floor. Flexible breakfast arrangement.

Review 36:It is a bit noisy at night - take earplugs! The breakfast needs some improvement.

Review 37:Spotless room Lovely smell Great location Helpful, friendly staff Amazing value

Review 38:It was not clear that you had to park your car outside the town and walk in to find it. Once in they provided a golf trolley to return from the parking which was over a km away. They gave us a room under a restaurant with a wooden floor, with the waitress clattering around until 1130. There was noise from the reception. The room itself was small, the bed was small, the bathroom was tiny.

Review 39:From the moment we arrived at the Hotel Monte Cristo until we left two days later, we received exceptionally attentive service from everyone on staff, both at the hotel’s front desk and in the restaurant where we ate breakfast and had dinner. The hotel was very well-located, in the heart of Kotor’s Old City (Stari Grad). Our lovely blue room was both spacious and very comfortable. Its elegant decor, at once modern yet inspired from a previous era, was very calming, especially after having travelled from Dubrovnik. I especially loved being able to sit on the sill of our dormer-type windows to look at the small green terrace down below, or to admire the stars above the roof of the building across from us. We very much enjoyed our stay at Kotor’s Hotel Monte Kristo.

Review 40:The location was right in the old town inside the walls. A little challenging to navigate and find our way back to the hotel.

Review 41:The staff were very helpful and drove us on a golf cart with luggage to the car park outside the walls.

Review 42:Sometimes very loud music in the evenings and nights from next door. Breakfast was rather poor. Not every day the room was made up, which you might expect for this price.

Review 43:Very good location and nice room. Staff was very nice

Review 44:The restaurant wine list is extremely overpriced. The waitress recommended "today's fish special" which turned out to be a very large (and delicious) grilled fish, more than enough for two people and costing 40 euros! Beware....

Review 45:the location and staff are wonderful. The rooms are beautiful and there is a lot of attention to detail

Review 46:GREAt bed, clean large room, staff was most helpful...they picked us up in the parking lot and drove us to the hotel in a golf cart. Top notch service and accommodation. Hotel food was EXCELLENT!

Review 47:Curtains don´t cover the light at all. Hard mattress. You want to charge your phone? Well, you´ll need to disconect the TV (who cares anyway). The decoration doesn´t fit the building.

Review 48:Well located (actually, anywhere inside the old town would be excellent located in this case). Historic building adapted as an hotel. Nice view from the (one of many) square. You'll be living like in the past.

Review 49:We had a problem with the A/C which they took care of, however they need to get some maintenance in this area

Review 50:The Staff was very accommodating. The breakfast was good, eggs to order. Took our luggage up and down the steps. They used their golf cart to take us out to the cab. We ate all our meals in their restaurant downstairs. It was very good

Review 51:Breakfast was a let-down. There was a very limited selection of bread that was not very fresh (it was like that each day). Additionally, the breakfast service was poor and staff stood around chatting or using their mobile phones rather than serving.

Review 52:Nice room, good location.

Review 53:The receptionist was very good and friendly. The hotel is top class although a little on the small side but you have to expect that in such an old building. Very nice breakfast and restaurant.

Review 54:Some of the staff in the breakfast room/restaurant could benefit from a course in hospitality

Review 55:Location is great (once you've found it), cozy atmosphere

Review 56:No parking possible near the hotel, but that's the case for all in the old town..

Review 57:Friendly staff, room had lots of character and is in a great location.

Review 58:As others have mentioned, the rooms at the back open onto a square, where a bar has tables and recorded music. The noise of voices gets louder as the evening goes on, but the windows seal the sound well and there is air-con. Also note that stairs are steep if that is an issue for you.

Review 59:Friendly staff and comfortable, rustically-furnished rooms. Free car park just across river from North Gate - say 'Monte Cristo' to man at the gate when you go in. Brilliant location right in the heart of Kotor Old Town.

Review 60:The standard room was quite small and the bathroom very small indeed.

Review 61:Central location with car parking arrangement just outside the wall city; with private transport to the hotel. The staff were exceptionally helpful and attentive. Very nice restaurant.

Review 62:The breakfast could have been bigger for a 4* hotel, but it was delicious. The bar next to the hotel played loud music at night, but it wasn't that much of a problem, especially if you're a deep sleeper.

Review 63:The staff was quite happy to help us, the location of the hotel was excellent, right in the heart of the city, the room was beautiful and it was just a perfect hotel for a young couple like us. The ultimate romantic, getaway place from the everyday life!

Review 64:breakfast quite simple parking off site (short walk) due to pedestrianised town centre. No directions to get to car park.

Review 65:excellent location great theme/in keeping with the feel of the old city lovely staff mini bar spacious room

Review 66:Music from bar next store at night

Review 67:Very friendly and helpful staff that speaks English. On arrival we were given a free bottle of wine for our honeymoon. Close to many restaurants. Lovely rooms.

Review 68:The windows are not sound proof and there are lots of concerts and loud music so you will not get a good night's sleep.

Review 69:Quaint features and decor; good breakfast

Review 70:- the meal prices in the restaurant is a little bit expensive but with so many terraces you can have plenty of options; though I regret we didn't dinner there - hard to find; - a little bit noisy in the night when they had to clean the terrace

Review 71:- it is in the same theme with the town; bourgeois atmosphere. - there is no access with car (as it is in the old town where car traffic is restricted) but they have a deal with the parking across the canal and we did not pay at all (otherwise the parking is 0.8eur/hr); - very clean, they are offering slippers; - good and generous breakfast (buffet) We highly recommend this hotel

Review 72:First night was very loud as music was playing outside our window until 2 am (after which some loud guests were talking until 3 pm). Quiet the rest of our stay and slept like a baby.

Review 73:The hotel was very charming and had a nice old touch while still being very clean. Perfect location in the old town with good breakfast and lovely staff. Would recommend to everyone and definitely stay again if I come back!!

Review 74:Room a bit dark Not the cheapest in Kotor

Review 75:Fantastic location - right in the centre of Kotor old town Complementary parking facilities right outside the old town (in a place where finding a spot can be tricky) Decent restaurant (with free breakfast) 24 hour reception adn very friendly staff

Review 76:I would say this, and many, hotels and accommodations on this coast of the Adriatic are maybe 20% overpriced for value. Noise from outside bars was very offensive, but mitigated by the closing of windows and use of AC, which I really did not want to do. I complained of course to the management but they have to live with the rest of the city too.

Review 77:This is a fantastic hotel in the old city of Kotor, easy to find with instructions, friendly and helpful reception, easy check out, excellent restaurant and wonderful breakfast. The room was lovely, charming, comfortable, and spotlessly clean.

Review 78:The outdoor bar right below was loud even with all the windows closed. The apartment was supposed to come with a kitchenette, but it's only a small bar fridge with a sink.

Review 79:Both rooms were very clean. The made-to-order breakfast with the buffet was very good. We were 3 generations travelling together, and all were very happy with what we had.

Review 80:Breakfast was not satisfying at all

Review 81:Perfect location, very quality wifi connection and helpful personel.

Review 82:Location perfect. Free parking nearby. Helpful staff. Great breakfast

Review 83:It was my birthday the day we were checking out - the staff brought us a nice of bottle of wine.

Review 84:water leakage by shower

Review 85:Poor Internet.

Review 86:Great location. Great and very friendly staff. Great restaurant. Great room. Very clean.

Review 87:Nothing except it was hard to find especially difficult in th rain.

Review 88:Close to everything and an easy walk from the bus station.

Review 89:No information on access to parking facility outside the centre as the centre cannot be entered into by car

Review 90:Just inside the gate. Free offsite parking

Review 91:Central position in Kotor. Pretty room.

Review 92:Having stayed only one night

Review 93:Beautiful well appointed rooms. Received free upgrade and the staff were very friendly and attentive.

Review 94:The place is cute, perfectly situated in the center of Kotor, very clean, very confortable bed. The staff is all the time at the hand.

Review 95:The jazz music 3 times a week until 1am- just call and ask if it's a live music night.

Review 96:Everything was great- super accommodating staff.

Review 97:Great hotel and services around. We took a boat ride in the bay and a private driver to Ulcinj which we were very happy with! Good value!

Review 98:Parking in a closed park place, transfer to the hotel with electrical car.

Review 99:Excellent location! Very inviting atmosphere and luxuriously appointed. All staff extremely pleasant.

Review 100:Everything.

Review 101:Very loud music from the cafe opposite which went on to past midnight.

Review 102:The balcony restaurant.

Review 103:Can be very noisy till very late at night in the area

Review 104:The loud music from the neighbouring bar

Review 105:Small hotel with super staff. Enjoyable stay

Review 106:Nothing bad to say

Review 107:The staff is helpful, perfect location, wonderful atmosphere !

Review 108:Breakfast is very poor

Review 109:Location Comfortable bed Wifi

Review 110:Almost everything, the stuff is very attentive and helpful.

Review 111:The process necessary to park our car

Review 112:The location

Review 113:Small buffet choice for breakfast.

Review 114:Great staff. Excellent location. Spacious room considering that the hotel is in historic, venetian built building.

Review 115:Perfect place to stay in the charming old town of Kotor. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. Would recommend this hotel

Review 118:Fantastic location in beautiful old town.

Review 119:It had very nice decor, perfect situation in the middle of the old town.

Review 120:What's not to like!

Review 121:Location, superb food, nice room. And for noise, we like the ambience. Reminds us that life is going on!

Review 122:A little noise from close by bars

Review 123:Friendly Staff
