Reviews for Karri Valley Resort
Review 1:not enough fans to share around when hot / no air con /could of done with a bigger lounge chair / breakfast selection was good but had cold food
Review 2:lake to swim / lots of birds to feed /bunnies / nice view
Review 3:Lakeside studio accommodation was tired and poorly kept. No AC in height of summer, very poor quality, dirty bathrooms. The whole resort was somewhat dilapidated. Restaurant was poor - particularly for breakfast. Overpriced!
Review 4:Great location, beautiful lakeside setting, interesting birdlife
Review 5:Staff did not listen , everything was too much trouble particularly at the restaurant where the manager was rude.
Review 6:Beautiful location amongst the trees on the banks of a lske
Review 7:The rooms had no air conditioning and it was very hot. We had no wifi or phone connection at all so nothing for 2 days ! Not really suited for us
Review 8:Very peaceful
Review 9:Dirty carpet and bedspread, lack of customer service, unqualified non native English speaking staff, no housekeeping even though advertised and requested. Restaurant was OK, good mains otherwise hit and miss- service left a lot to be desired. Loved it 3 years ago wouldn't recommend Resort now.Needs some serious money invested. If it wasn't for the location it wouldn't survive!
Review 10:Location , Nature around resort
Review 11:No wifi. No A/C.
Review 12:We liked the view from our lakeside villa and the Archery. We would like to commend the Maori looking girl (sorry forgot her name) for being so helpful and friendly
Review 13:A bit unhappy about our room being changed the morning we arrived and then charged an extra nite. To be fair they did realize their error and we were reimbursed.
Review 14:The location was beautiful.
Review 15:The rooms are not sound proof so we could hear every movement and sound of those around us. Hence the low rating for comfort.
Review 16:The staff were great and the restaurant food was awesome.
Review 17:restaurant staff are very slow. have to wait very long and also have ask many times for the dessert. After our dinner we have paid the amount still they had no record of it and we were asked to pay before we were living the resort.
Review 18:beautiful place
Review 19:The staff is super friendly and helpful. Overall the chalet is very comfortable. Only down side was as it was summer, we were not able to use the fireplace. However on the night that we stayed it was super cold and we were not prepared for the chill. My mom was sick due to the coldness and spoilt her next 2 days of her holiday.
Review 20:No reception-ordinarily a pleasant break, but was difficult to reach family overseas when urgently required due to family illness.
Review 21:Stewart had a very natural and friendly manner with clients, and was very accommodating. The restaurant is in a stunning location. Comfortable chalets with most basic needs.
Review 22:The lakeside restaurant is the only food nearby and wasn't worth a mention. Quite poor breakfast and take away. But the place is so wonderful, this could be overlooked!
Review 23:The location is fantastic!!!!! So beautiful and tranquil!
Review 24:There was nothing
Review 25:It was our first time at karri valley resort and not knowing what to expect we were very happy with the location as far as isolation goes and looking over the lake and having the restaurant open every night was great.
Review 26:The facilities are very tired and run down. The toilet (lakeside room) needed a good clean, shower curtain old and missing loops. Breakfast was very meagre and one morning was'nt set up by required time; meals overpriced i.e. not value for money.
Review 27:The location and adjacent walks. French waitperson, Dorine was charming and efficient.
Review 28:There was a cockroach in our microwave hence we did not use it at all
Review 29:Great range of activitie, including board games for free. Staff especially Stewart were really friendly and helpful.
Review 30:Carpets in my chalet very marked and tired. Overall rather gloomy inside.
Review 31:Staff very helpful. Wonderful setting. VG signage, especially along the walking trails. Could see that significant upgrading has been carried out- maybe new flooring is next?! Nice toiletries. Handy to have a drier in chalet too.
Review 32:Could hear guests from the next room talking, the room was not clean, the bathroom is extremely dark and outdated, totally overpriced! Dinner was awful, even microwave food taste better than what they had to offer
Review 33:Location
Review 34:The tables needed to be set with spoons. On Friday night all the family's in the small room where we had dinner had to get up and get their own spoons for desert. With the take away on Saturday night there was no salt in the bags for food. There was no Black Tea or as we requested no English breakfast tea at breakfast Saturday or Sunday. We do not drink coffee or flavoured tea.
Review 35:The friendliness of staff, the room we stayed in on the lake.
Review 36:No parking near your room when you pay premium to have lake room. We had to park up the hill and walk. Each room should have an allotted parking if your going to charge 240pn. The wait staff hardly left the main desk in the morning for breakfast and most people had to clear table to sit down. The full breakfast was as tough as boots. Needed a chainsaw to each the bacon and sausages.
Review 37:Location and the duty manager in the afternoon remember who I was and which room
Review 38:Resort needs Free Wifi
Review 39:Excellent Location. View from the lake view studio room is AMAZING !! Staff are very competent. Yummy food at resort restaurant. Will be back again soon I hope !
Review 40:Lack of wi fi / phone reception and also only 3 tv stations for night entertainment is ok for the 1980s . It's 2015 and the owners need to bring all facilities up to date
Review 41:Staff friendly and helpful with a nice peaceful and quiet location.
Review 42:We were there 23 years ago and thought we would relive the great experience. Sadly it would seem not a cent has been spent on the place since then. It was extremely tired. Needs updating. Where in the world can you not get TV? Why not web access? Wine not available of choosing, your Visa card machine did not work when leaving. Carpets and upholstery very poor. Cobwebs in bathroom. Shower curtain caused water to flow out onto floor severely. Need I go on???
Review 43:Nothing really except the location could be wonderful
Review 44:Your towels were not fluffy and they were hard. There was no free wifi or phone reception (My husband didn't like this, it didn't bother me) The heads up about no reception would of been good
Review 45:I liked that there was no mobile reception
Review 46:The resort looks tired. The kitchen in our chalet is poorly stocked. Made it difficult to cook anything. The BBQ areas are run down and in need of repair. It is such a lovely spot it just needs a revamp.
Review 47:The location is beautiful, the breakfast at the lakeside restaurant is lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 48:Karri Valley resort is one of the BEST!!! resorts I have ever stayed in with stunning scenery,friendly/helpful staff and once in lifetime experiences I would recommend it to anyone.
Review 49:It is a breathtakingly beautiful place to be in spring. Sitting with your loved ones on the balcony overlooking the lake in the middle of a karri forest, life feels pretty close to perfect. Our children (3 and 8) were more than content just playing on the banks of the lake. A fantastic break.
Review 50:nothing
Review 51:Everything was spot on! if your looking for a place where you can get lost in your own paradise this is it great location nice and relaxing atmosphere with a magical view of the lake staff were very friendly and helpful food was top notch all in all its a great place for couples and family.
Review 52:Some of the reception staff were not very welcoming or accommodating. Chalet carpet was old and stale smelling. Kitchen not well stocked with plates/platters/cutting knives/etc.
Review 53:Facilities were amazing - we were there for 4 nights, didn't leave the resort and were never bored. Facility staff very friendly and helpful. Amazing location for any time of the year.
Review 54:Pizzas from the room service were quite average.
Review 55:Loved the fact there were heaps of activities available on site, the staff were lovely and the views were absolutely stunning.
Review 56:The apartment was light on with kitchen equipment and day to day needs in an out of the way place.
Review 57:The position and surroundings were beautiful, natural and wildlife abundant. There is plenty to do and see to keep the stay interesting.
Review 58:The only thing that we didn't like was there was no Wi-Fi. Thats it
Review 59:The friendly staff, the cleanest place we have ever stayed in. There are no words to discribe how much we enjoyed ourselves
Review 60:I cannot remember. Is there a heater for the each bed? If not, I would suggest the management installs one to keep the bed warm in the night as the accomodation was built close to Nature.
Review 61:The tranquility and serenity of the environment. Far away from the madding crowd. Good walking track.
Review 62:Extent of resort and facilities was a nice surprise. Be great for a family with children of a range of ages. lots to enjoy and doing including large dam, very nice bush walk and waterfall and animals.
Review 63:Rooms need upgrading. Scuff marks on walls...please add a little colour to the rooms I.e. Take out the picture/print of the black lifeless trees on the wall behind the bed head. Does not make a romantic impression. Again location perfect
Review 64:Location location location
Review 65:We were disappointed with some of the staff members being unhelpful and unfriendly. Also they were understaffed which meant the activities centre was closed a lot of the time we were there so we couldn't use all the facilities even when we had paid to. The cookware and utensils in the chalet were pretty bad - definitely need upgrading!!
Review 66:We really loved out chalet - great location, lovely and comfortable! Just a great location to have a relaxing holiday, with fun activities to do aswell:)
Review 67:Absolutely nothing!!
Review 68:The fact that we didn't have to leave the resort to get anything. Everything from entertainment to food supplies was available for guests to purchase. The view of the lake was just AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL .
Review 69:Amazingly, no fresh trout on the menu. The heater (portable) in the room was noisy and inadequate. I would suggest oil filled units would be better
Review 70:Location and peacefulness of location.
Review 71:The whole place lacked warmth. It felt very commercial. The Room furnishings and fittings were of low quality, and some doors needed to be replaced. Cleaning was done daily - but left much to be desired. Bedsheets were not changed for 3 nights. Although the place was not obviously dirty, it was not clean either. One could see dusts and cobwebs in the less accessible areas. We would not recommend it to others.
Review 72:If you did not want to book a table for the restaurant you could order from a menu of only 7 items, 4 of those pizza. It was pricey and you had to pick it up and it was served in a styrophome container. There is no where else close to eat so they need to be a bit more flexible with their room service menu.
Review 73:The location and view. The walks around the lake and close proximity to beedelup falls was great.
Review 74:A very nice place if you are looking for a getaway from hustle and bustle of a city. Situated beside a lake and within the national park, the resort can't get more serene than what it already is. One thing I like is that there is no phone receptions or internet within the resort compound, which eliminate all the potential distractions you may have with the technology.
Review 75:there seems to be no money spent on the upkeep. We come to K.V. for 25 years and see a bad decline. The carpet was very dirty, a chair cover broken, a tap completely loose. The chimney did not have enough draft, so the fire was dying always. It looked more like a Backpackers than a resort.
Review 76:The location
Review 77:The restaurant service and dinner menu is very average. Not enough choice with mains and the restaurant staff aren't the brightest.
Review 78:The room over looking the lake.
Review 79:20km out of town. People can be heard stomping around in the room upstairs.
Review 80:Location is so beautiful! The facilities are excellent with many activities on the doorstep. We had birds eating out of our hands on the balcony.
Review 81:Been here 3 times since 2007, time to update the TV
Review 82:Great place to get away from it all and just relax for a few days. Situated in the Forrest next to a beautiful lake.
Review 83:Dirty carpets and kitchen pots and pans. Old towels. In my opinion it needs a full refurbishmentfrom top to bottom
Review 84:I like the area the view and wild life.
Review 85:Nothing - liked everything.
Review 86:The friendliness and helpfulness of staff was amazing. The location was simply beautiful and made for a very relaxing holiday stay.
Review 87:The setting was perfect. The lakeside rooms are lovely and the bird life very friendly. Early morning walks through the forest to Beedilup Fall were so relaxing and the scenery beautiful.
Review 88:All the sliding doors to the balconies surrounding us rumbled like distant thunder day and night. The stench of smokers all around was a challenge. For this reason alone would not return to the Water front cabins. The cabin also lacked lounge furniture even though the room is huge. I could go on with lots of other issues but that would probably be getting to harsh with my evaluation of the place. Basically the place is tired and needs a revamp. The sticker in the loo says be Water Wise and the hot water to the shower takes 5 minutes to come through.
Review 89:The location of the room we had over the lake was superb. The birds and ducks added to the experience.
Review 90:Staff could be more conscious of the buffet in the mornings, they only have one job, that is to keep plenty of bacon, eggs, croissants, juice etc available at all times and to ensure that this never runs out. This did happen a couple of times and I would attribute it to laziness or poor training or just a lacksadaisical attitude to service. Otherwise fantastic. If you want to charge for a service though, you should ensure that it is top notch. Also, paying $10 and hour for a kayak that is eons old and has paid for itself a million times over is ridiculous. Understand that if you provide this service free to guests the return on your investment in terms of happiness and also the resultant word of mouth would in my opinion be more than worth it.
Review 91:Location fantastic. Staff friendly and helpful, room clean and well; location, location location. What more can you say?
Review 92:Restaurant service was very slow indeed. Also the cunning device of quoting the inclusion of 'buffet breakfast' within the price of the stay, but then omitting to mention that this is only continental ($10/head is added for access to hot buffet elements, on arrival) looks like false advertising and price gouging, to guests who have little choice on arrival in a cold environment. That's just plain rude.
Review 93:The location is what defines this resort. The forest was beautiful, and the facilities were great. The staff were also friendly.
Review 94:Not really bad but electric blankets would have been great!! There were loose blankets on hand. Floor in bathroom was very cold and could do with underfloor heating. As a safety note leaves on the roofs should be cleaned regularly.
Review 95:The lake side room .
Review 96:It looks a tired property, rooms need updating, breakfast was ok nothing special and espically after a great evening service. Definitely shouldn't warrant the nightly price tag. TV had only 2 channels
Review 97:Evening Meal was great and the setting is amazing, fishing off the balcony.
Review 98:Service in the resturant was a bit slow and information regarding the Kids meals was inconsistant.
Review 99:Great activities for the kids . Unfortuneately it rained the whole time we were there , but they had board games you could borrow and videos for hire so that helped pass the time.
Review 100:The wall clock didn't work in the lounge. No tools were available to manage the fire, dust pan and broom, poker etc. Carpets need to be cleaned or replaced, at $264 a night they look shabby!!!!
Review 101:The restaurant was good and the location is always idealic. The staff are friendly and helpful and plenty of activities are available.
Review 102:Has lost its prestige Mould in bathroom Toilet didn't flush properly No microwave No room service Restaurant stuffed up meals and drinks Outdated needs refurbish Catch and cook your trout ??? No WiFi Average bathroom Hair dryer didn't work and despite asking for one they didn't bring one Better places out there
Review 103:Birds on balcony and view
Review 104:The chalet wood burning fire was warm in the evening but died in the early hours. It was very cold in the morning and even the beds don't really have enough blankets for the conditions. Could do with some more heating for winter stays
Review 105:Beautiful place, the walk round the lake is very worth doing. The chalets are private and great for getting away from traffic, crowds etc.
Review 106:We were a group of 6 families and although requested and told we were close together... were spread very far apart, it really looked like they just couldn't be bothered given that on our day of arrival so many cabins were vacant and many left same day as us
Review 107:The location is superb. The cabins with log fires (except for those cabins that have had the fire replaced with useless electric ones) are nested into the side of the hill within the bush. Resturant quite nice but some options had run out. Facilities for leisure are great- you do have to pay extra but a 24hr famy pass to cover everything was only $20. Our kids had a ball on boats, ping pong, archery, mini golf. Overall a fabulous 4 days
Review 108:Rooms and chalets could do with a few upgrades. The bath towels very old and worn and carpet looked worn.
Review 109:Lovely to hear and see the birdlife and enjoy the lake and beautiful walks.
Review 110:No trout farm anymore or horse riding ,would be good to have those activities back
Review 111:Beautiful scenery, fantastic walks, dinner was very good at the Resteraunt for dinner
Review 112:No bad experiences here. Would haved loved room service or some more casual meals. And a good heater in the bedroom or an elictric blanket. It was very cold
Review 113:Loved the lake. The room was great. We met some lovely people and the staff were absolutely so obliging and went out of their way to make our holiday enjoyable. The meals were great.
Review 114:Breakfast as an additional charge was quite steep for those staying in the Lakeside rooms and should be included in the price for this style of accomodation.
Review 115:Great location! Very beautiful and serene! Rooms were well decorated, modern, and comfortable.
Review 116:Cockroaches in cabin kitchen. I visited the resort 16 years ago and I don't think it has been upgraded at all
Review 117:Location, activities, resort it self was great even in winter
Review 118:The chalet smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The carpets need to be replaced. The restaurant food was nice and staff friendly but service was slow and they appeared understaffed.
Review 119:chalet 3 was spacious with plenty of room for 4 adults and 3 kids. Pleasant view over the lake from chalet and restaurant.
Review 120:Lack of breakfast options for gluten free/ceoliac. Nothing on offer except some bread and yoghurt. Could do with a bath in the place
Review 121:The surroundings. The amount of things to do. Very relaxing break
Review 122:Some noise from other rooms, would have been nice to know in advance that restaurant needs booking
Review 123:Lovely views, good breakfast selection, good size room
Review 124:The forest cabins were a little old and not so well cleaned.
Review 125:Very close to nature, with a lot of animals like wallabies and birds. The property is huge, you can do some trekking around the lake and forest.
Review 126:"Chalets" were like boyscout huts. Recreation facilities closed at four in the afternoon. The driveway at the front of my cabin involved ascending a steep incline, at right angles, on loose gravel, while avoiding two very tightly placed Karri trees.
Review 127:Location, nature, weather. The restaurant has great potential.
Review 128:The value for money is just not warranted , the bathrooms are a disgrace, so tiny it's ridiculous, needs a serious upgrade if that's the price they expect.
Review 129:The surroundings were peaceful and quiet , lots of birds.
Review 130:The cabins are all looking very tired and in desperate need of some TLC! The bedding and towels are all looking old and well used.
Review 131:The location is amazing, among the karri trees at the edge of the lake. It makes you feel as though you are a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a real breath of fresh air. Perfect for lots of bush walking.
Review 132:The games room was old and damp smelling. Maybe have the table tennis table in a more central location.
Review 133:Peaceful and quiet surroundings. We loved the bush walks and the lights at the edge of the lake at night
Review 134:We ate at the restaurant twice. The first time was for dinner. The meals were Ok but the waitress was shocking. She forgot the specials each time she told them to a new table. She got easily confused and tried to give us meals we hadn't ordered. The same waitress got two customers orders mixed up at breakfast the next morning. We were also quite dissapointed to see the small selection offered as a Continental breakfast the next day.
Review 135:The Karri Valley Resort is located in a gorgeous spot. It has amazing views and is so beautiful and tranquil.
Review 136:It's a 15 - 20 minute drive to Pemberton, so make sure you have what you need food wise before getting there.
Review 137:There were quite a few activities available - kayaking, fishing etc But I think there was a fee you needed to pay to access any gear.
Review 138:beds are uncomfortable and walls in the bungalows are thin, so that you hear the couple in the next room turning in their beds
Review 139:Silence, birds and the beautiful lake
Review 140:The showers were only hot for literally 5 seconds complained n was given a discount but not good enough at $270/night also no mobile reception n only one tv channel
Review 141:Birds on the verandah big trees view of lake
Review 142:A few more tea towels in our cabin which was for 6 people, so a lot of washing up!!
Review 143:Karri Valley is breathtaking. It's beauty is stunning, loved it.
