Reviews for Bodø Hostel & Motel
Review 1:There was no wifi signal in my room(although it turned out to be a good thing, i think).
Review 2:The hostel is very simple, yet clean, conveniently located in the same building as the train station. The boats and ferries are not far away too. The dormitory room had it's own bathroom. There is a fully equiped kitchen in the hostel. I was allowed to stay in hostel's living room until late evening on the day of my checkout(which is at 11am) - which made my waiting for train less painful. The staff is really friendly and helpful(and really going out of their way) making it all they can to make my stay in the town memorable.
Review 3:at 9pm they cvharged my credit card and were leaving the receptzion at 10pm. fortunately i atrrived at 9.30pm so i di not spend the night in the (snowy) street.- strange noises in the night, i hope ghosts and not mice -all this fo 90 euros one night, triple room, single use, private bathroom big and convenient
Review 4:Nothing!
Review 5:The cleanest hostel I've ever visited. The single room was minimalist but perfect. Mega comfy bed and a handy little bathroom. Perfect for arriving off the late flight. Late check in was fine. They emailed me how to get in. Great location in the centre next to the station. Good breakfast too.
Review 6:the wifi downstairs could improve.
Review 7:The staff is extremely helpful. Late night check in wasn't a problem for them. The place has been constantly cleaned while we were there. There is common kitchen place where you can cook meal yourself, which is quite nice alternative. I loved their generous breakfasts.
Review 8:Clean, nice, comfortable accomodation, even location above train station does not distrurb and late checkin after arrival from evening traject is no problem at all. All was ready for us. Breakfast was tasty.
Review 9:very helpful staff. got late 0230 ferry into Bodo and they said not a problem got in and access to bed . good breakfast in the morning in the wee café too.
Review 10:Would be nice with an elevator at the same floor you entered Not so nice to carry up two heavy suitcases a few days after a surgery.
Review 11:Cheap,clean and comfortable bedrooms. Great breakfast too.
Review 12:Nothing really unsatusfied.
Review 13:It's very close to the whirlpool, great sea view. And we were upgraded to a two bedrooms apartment, which is really a great value. The place is very good for people who want to fish or with boat license .
Review 14:I disliked the size of the room in relation to the amount of people to squeeze into. A room of max. 18m² is just not big enough to fit two doors, two bunk beds and three single beds. Some more sockets might be nice, too.
Review 15:The hostel is located quite perfectly, right next to the ferry to Moskenes and Hurtigruten and only 25 mins walk to the airport. The staff was very kind and the bathroom had a good size and equipment. It was very thoughtful to hand a lunchbag to those travellers, who had to leave the hostel in the early morning.
Review 16:The staff was very helpful and friendly. I found myself chatting with them a lot, which I don't think is often the case. The room was obviously cleaned often and had spacious lockers provided to give a sense of security in an 8 person dorm. Breakfast was included and excellent. Having the place built right above the train station made the location super convenient. And despite the rail lines, it was surprisingly quiet. No sudden whistles or anything. Really, everything was just perfect. It was a great first stop on what turned out to be a great trip!
Review 17:All you can eat breakfast is outstanding! Located at the train station so it is a one minute walk from the train and five minutes to ferry terminal. It is only about a 40-min walk to the airport.
Review 18:One of the beds in dorm 203 blocks the door. The staff were not overly helpful with getting a taxi which for someone with a lot of luggage and tight schedule can be a problem. Very narrow beds.
Review 19:Good value for money, excellent breakfast for a hostel.
Review 20:Very little. The drier in the laundry has a defective sensor I think. The larm kept going off, so too forever to get clothes dry. There was a bit of a cold draught near the window in dorm where my bed was situated.
Review 21:The breakfast was excellent, as was the clean modern bathroom attached to the dorm . Clean comfy bed. Nice kitchen and dining area. Excellent wifi too. Very friendly, if very busy staff.
Review 22:It was good choice when You are heading to Værøy ferry in the middle of the night and You just need space to spend time before that. Hostel is in very good location.
Review 23:- narrow beds
Review 24:+ late check-in is possible (they deposit the key to your room) + linen and a towel are included + they pack you breakfast if you leave earlier in the morning
Review 25:The location of this hotel is very good if you are going on the ferry. The rooms are very small and the price is quite high for what you get. We got in Oslo a much better hotel at a half the price of this hotel. But all hotels in Bodo are expensive.
Review 26:Lots of large groups of travellers meant there wasn't much atmosphere or socialising in common areas.
Review 27:Good breakfast, dorm room had large clean bathroom. Hostel is situated next to the train station and 3 mins walk from the ferry terminal.
Review 28:The hotel is located just inside the Central Station building. Just one minute walk from the train. Breakfast was good. Very close to city. Only ten minutes away from all the main shops and restaurants.
Review 29:Didn't have to share a bathroom. Easy to find right at the train station and easy walk to shopping area and along the wharf. Man at the reception desk was generous in lending adapter to recharge electronics.
Review 30:Lack of common space and games for longer stay.
Review 31:Steps away from Lofoten ferry, clean, friendly staff, with bathroom in our small room. Staff packed us bags of plentiful food because we had to leave before breakfast time.
Review 32:The dormitory was very stinky, i think because of shoes and very dirty socks. They need to have policy where people leave shoes and socks outside the room and wash feet before settling down. it was disgusting.
Review 33:the common space is really nice
Review 34:I booked a bed in a 4-bed dorm but when I got to my room there 7 beds instead what was a bit annoying.
Review 35:Flexible check-in. I arrived at 3 am and had an envelope with instructions and key waiting for me in the mailbox. The breakfast was good for being a hostel. Also the bathroom was inside the dorm what was very practical.
Review 36:It is located next to the harbor if you take boat to Lofoten island. 35mins walking to the airport is not that bad if it is not raining. It is clean with everything you need. Not a bad choice if you only stay for a shoe period of time.
Review 37:We had phoned earlier re late check in as we were arriving at 2.30am on The Hutrigruten. The manager gave great instructions and left a key out beside the entrance. Being a mature couple he even reserved lower bunks in the male and female dorms for us.
Review 40:i need to put my luggage at the hostel after checking out. It would be very easy to find a room with a door where there are some staff from time to time, but no a male staff told me just to put it behind some desk with no staff there, and just at the entrance of 3rd floor where a lot of people go by He didn't try to help at all!
Review 41:location Breakfast Big bathroom
Review 42:Can't blame the hosts for the loud coughing snoring idiot but the beds are really squeezed in, the dorms section is on top of the railway tracks so external noise is also a problem. The place feels a mess with the reception move and the labyrinth to breakfast.
Review 43:Staff are courteous and friendly. Location is convenient for trains, city and ferry. Bus to airport stops five minutes away. Bathrooms good and wi-fi reliable. Breakfast is a fantastic buffet (Nordic style)
Review 44:The one shower/toilet for 8 beds was a little inconvenient, since it led to considerable wait time in the morning.
Review 45:The hostel is well run, helpful staff and as comfortable as a shared dorm can be. Great for train station and Hurtigruten boat.
Review 46:The staff was never in the reception and there was nobody to ask for advise!
Review 47:We had a warm and calm place while it was very cold outside. The kitchen was very big and complete.
Review 48:If you take the train to Bodo, make it easier on yourself and stay here--it's attached to the train station! Each room has a shared bathroom inside of it, which has a great shower, and it is nice that it is located within your room as well, so you don't have to worry about taking your key with you when you shower etc, as I have had to at other hostels. The one thing that makes this place stand out though is their free breakfast--cereals, bread, meat and cheese, jams, yogurt, and my favorite salmon and cucumber to put on the bread. Also free tea and coffee and orange juice. So great!! And the staff was so helpful with any questions I had.
Review 49:The bed. Make sure if you don't take the upper bunk, it looks really dangerous. The mattress is not comfy either.
Review 50:Good breakfast (salmon!), clean, nice sitting area + kitchen. Bathroom inside the dorm, so you share it only with your roommates.
Review 51:For some reason Wifi network was a bit weak, but it worked.
Review 52:Flexibility on arrival time, location (next to the railway station and close to the harbor) and very good breakfast included
Review 53:The room was incredibly cold and a very nasty air conditioning fan was blowing air directly over the beds. Mind that it was December! That resulted in a very poor night of sleep and a huge headache in the morning. Staff available only on call (reception was unmanned).
Review 54:Free breakfast and the position was excellent. En suite bathroom. The room was large but it was a 8-bed room despite the fact that I reserved a 4-bed room (there were only 4 guests there though).
Review 55:Nothing
Review 56:Clean, comfortable, safe and hellishly convenient. I guess that covers all the bases. On top of that its a warm personal sort of place with attentive staff and an inclusive breakfast that is to die for. Smoked salmon for breakfast ? In a hostel ? You got that right . . !
Review 57:The ventilation system seems to haven't been cleened for years so there is an anoying smell. Bed light without a lamp.
Review 58:Location, check in until late, staff
Review 59:Very nice and helpful staff Good location (train station building) Excellent breakfast Well equiped kitchen Each dorm has its own bathroom Quiet rooms
Review 60:The WiFi didn't work in the caffe. Would have loved if it did as I had a long time to kill before the return train
Review 61:Amazing location. Very friendly and helpfull staff Nice comfy bed and great travel buddies to interact with.
Review 62:Very nice welcome and at the end, because my flight was early, they prepare for me breakfast "to go" without asking. I never experienced it before. Till now, when I had to leave earlier than the restaurant opens, I just missed the breakfast.
Review 63:The staff was nice and we got a better room for the same price just because they weren't fully booked. The room was small, but extremely clean. New furniture, clean bedlinen (included in the price of accommodation), fair breakfast. All in all, a nice experience.
Review 64:The location, staff, and facility are fantastic. Easy access to the city of Bodø and the airport. The train station is just below the hostel and the ferry/Hurtigruten is steps away. The hostel is clean and quiet.
Review 65:I liked the location. Staff was really friendly and easy going. Although I had to leave at 5am they prepared and gave me breakfast. Room were clean and bed comfortable. And so I can tell about the bathroom.
Review 66:The price was high for what it is, but that's what happens in a captive market when there's little choice. Toilet lid was broken in half and sharp edge was covered in tape.
Review 67:Most reasonable accomodation with iwn bathroom in Bodo. Also had an adequate breakfast. It was very clean, well organised too. Also had good tv. Do-able for 2 nights but wouldnt want to stay longer.
Review 68:The location and staff are outstanding. Our luggage had to arrive on a later flight. The staff helped make sure that the luggage arrived and got to us the same night. Our room was very quiet even thought it was on the same floor as reception. They also have a computer with free internet access. It's within steps of Hertigruten / ferry. So you can easily access the coast of Norway and Lofoten.
Review 69:The price is a little higher for a hostel than in most places in Europe, but it's relative to the cost of things in Norway and is thecheapest accommodation available in the town.
Review 70:The hostel was quiet, clean and very well-appointed. The Czech guy onthe desk was extremely friendly and helpful, and the breakfast wassufficient to set me up for the day. The Wifi never failed and thefacilities in the shared dorm didn't leave me wanting.
Review 71:No TVs in room as advertised Quite complicated lift to different floors Hard to find breakfast area! Beware luggage lockers in train station waiting area, many are broken, and do not open locker during the 24 hour period unless you want to pay another 30 NOK!
Review 72:Brilliant location, at train station 5 minutes walk from town centre Quick and easy check-in Helpful staff Very comfy beds Clean, modern rooms Very good bathroom in dorm room Good breakfast included in price
Review 73:Bit expensive even by Norwegian standards, but was lowest in the area and very good quality regardless.
Review 74:A fantastic hostel. It is pricy, but it's the cheapest in the area, and considering it's in Norway, you can't expect a low-cost option. Location can't be beat as it is literally in the same building as the train station. Breakfast is included and has a nice variety of bread, meats, spreads, etc. Guest kitchen is great. Two ovens, two stoves, plus lots of pots and pans and two big fridges with baskets and labels for food. I stayed in the dorm and loved it. The dorm is actually two rooms, one with three beds, the other with six I think. I grabbed a bed in the small room and had it to myself both nights! Nice big windows to let fresh air in, and linens are included. There is a bathroom with shower, toilet and sink in the dorm. Very new, very clean. Also a small TV in the small room in the dorm! Common room is very large and open, with a big flat screen TV.
Review 75:This hostel is way overpriced for what it is! We had originally booked a 4-bed dorm room with 2 single beds and 1 bunk bed. When we arrived, the room had 2 bunk beds. The room was tiny and L-shaped, so with the 2 people already there, there was no where to even put our bags down. The room had no ventilation, even with the windows open, and it stank like feet. We requested to change to a private room, which they were able to accommodate, but we still had bunk beds for 106 euros a night! We know that Norway's expensive, but this was the most expensive stay on our entire trip by far, and it was a horrible experience. Although the room was clean, there were dirty socks on the ledge in the lounge. When we could actually find someone at the front desk, she seemed totally overwhelmed and couldn't answer our questions about Bodø. This stay was an unfortunately bad end to what was otherwise an amazing trip. I wish we could get a refund.
Review 76:The location was ok.
Review 77:Room quite small but you get what you pay for.
Review 78:Typical good Norwegian breakfasts. Good location next to town, railway station and Hurtigruten terminal.
Review 79:Fantastic and friendly staff (especially two Czech guys), really clean and safe, great location.
Review 80:- Very nice staff - Good location - Breakfast
Review 81:The public areas are lack of features
Review 82:The staffs are really friendly Free laundry service is the best I've ever seen in all norway's hostel
Review 83:Really bright young woman in reception with loads of enthusiasm. Great location in the railway station with a restaurant.
Review 84:Breakfast a bit too simple but it reflects the price I guess.
Review 85:It was clean and practical
Review 86:The toilet is quite small and cold. Everything else is ok
