Reviews for Hibiscus Lodge Hotel
Review 1:paint stripping on section of balcony
Review 2:Bed comfortable. Bathroom well outfitted. Balcony space was spacious and chairs comfortable for relaxation and table provided to facilitate games work and meals. Food was delicious, well presented and timely. Staff extremely courteous, professional efficient and timely. Facilities in good condition, loved the pool and Jacuzzi and the ocean view from room, balcony, bar and dining area was breathtaking. Parking was more than adequate and rates reasonable.
Review 3:Breakfast service was slooooow and "Gourmet" breakfast was just eggs with bacon but very expensive - included in the price of the room but definitely overpaid! Bufet breakfast would really be much nicer - quicker and with more choices!
Review 4:Terrace with seaview was amazing, pool as well
Review 5:The receptionist Marine was exceptionally good, and other staffs are very hospitable. It's right next to the ocean and accessible to the good local restaurants. It's a great place to stay in Ocho Rios!!
Review 6:Bar staff could have been nicer (little attention even though there were just few guests at the bar). Since there is no glass in the room window (just blinds), we could hear all the music and talks coming in from outside.
Review 7:The sea view, spacious and clean rooms, nice pool
Review 8:We stayed in room 24 and woke a floor covered in water from the heavy rain, the Staff took time in clearing it up. went to breakfast the following morning again it rained and as hotel were catering for three weddings on the day had breakfast on the varander unfortunately there were no measures in place for wind blowing rain towards guess. Returned to room again completely flooded. This was suppose to be one of their Deluxe rooms, with a shower, bath, hairdryer plus a balcony. The balcony was removed to make the room bigger, we won't told nor given the options of a smaller Deluxe room which had a balcony. We were finally moved to a Standard room and to our surprise it had all the facilities of the Deluxe rooms just a little smaller. There are no phones in the room nor is there tea/coffee facility provided. Although there was a jug ice bucket and glasses water was not available. You have to walk to reception to request items which was a good little walk especially as it rained for almost the entire time we were there. The breakfast portion could have been larger as portions were restricted. If you want another helping you were charged. We weren't told of available facilities and stumbled across the bar which had a wonderful view over the ocean.
Review 9:Overall view and location was good staff very friendly. There's a swimming pool and a lady providing a massage. The view from the bar over the ocean.
Review 10:Rooms are a bit dated but comfortable.
Review 11:The views from the balconies and the restaurant are amazing. Food was consistently good, and staff was friendly and helpful. Get a massage right on the water!
Review 12:There's no phones in the residence so to contact for room service or anything else you have to use a Mobile. It's kinda expensive there.
Review 13:Staff were relatively friendly, the location is peaceful but provides good access to town. The spa offers some excellent treatments.
Review 14:This hotel was perfect for us. The staff was warm and welcoming. The compound has a beautiful garden that is well kept and there is also a beautiful ocean view. But I must say the food at Almond Tree Restaurant was EXCELLENT. A full breakfast was included with our room. We chose a different AUTHENTIC Jamaican breakfast every morning. Delicious :)
Review 15:Restaurant is nice but quite expensive. Can be some noise from the road and church due to location but it didn't really bother us too much.
Review 16:Lovely balcony looking over the sea. Comfortable room and good Jamaican breakfast. Friendly staff. Pretty gardens make it tranquil despite central location. We had a great stay.
Review 17:nothing!
Review 18:I stayed there for only 1 night but it is a great hotel with an amazing landscape (seaside). The staff is very accommodating. I regret that I left on the next day.
Review 19:It's a really great property for relaxation and base for exploring the North Coast. Helpful and polite staff who aim to please; spotlessly clean room with homely feel.
Review 20:The first room they put us in had broken window panels, the AC did not work, and the toilet had the water turned off and started leaking profusely when we turned it back on. For a place to rest our head at night, it was ok. We didn't spend much time on the property which is a good thing because there are no amenities or entertainment outside of the pool. The 2nd room they put us in was better except the AC unit sounded like a lawn mower over our heads. No phone in the room, a small pedestal sink in the bathroom and nowhere to put our shampoo and conditioner except on the floor of the shower. We ventured out on foot but didn't feel very safe doing so - approached by locals constantly. Expected better for the money we paid.
Review 21:Perfect location near downtown Ocho Rios and the beds were very comfortable - nice view from our balcony. The food at the Almond Tree restaurant was fantastic. The grounds were very well kept. The staff was wonderful.
Review 22:Poor wifi..facility needs to be upgraded and maintained. Rooms weren't fully equipped...
Review 23:Very clean and close to down town Ocho Rios. Friendly staff...lovely ocean view...breakfast was good...
Review 24:Location is not far from centre. Whilst being handy there are too many hasslers constantly trying to scam you around here.
Review 25:Breakfast was outstanding. Good clean rooms. Great views. Friendly staff
Review 26:Everything was in U.S. Dollars in Ochi and that infuriated us becuase we bought food, drinks and gifts they had to calculate it in to Jamaican dollers, and then they would add 10% on top of that. We only had Jamaican dollers not U.S.
Review 27:The hibiscus lodge was situated in the perfect place, not too far from the shop or the town centre.
Review 28:The bookings was done but the payment don't appear at the moment of arrived. They explain it's because the Hotel refused the money by national credit cards.
Review 29:THE kindness of the people which work in the hotel, the landscape, the ocean views and the contort of the room
Review 30:The Hibiscus Lodge is a great place to stay! The views are amazing, you can snorkel right off the cliff, breakfast was great (although not included in room rate). Staff friendly and did laundry for $6 a bag. We were only booked to stay 2 nights but had to stay a 3rd night we were having such a great time!
Review 31:We enjoyed everything
Review 32:I adored waking up in the morning to go for a swim/ snorkling before the fresh breakfast was served on a peaceful and shaddowful terrace by excellent and nice employers
Review 33:no minibar in the room,a little noisy on saturday night, but not until very late. No buffet at breakfast
Review 34:Location close to center of town, great view on the ocean Very helpful staff with informations and reservation for the proceeding of journey. Lovely restaurant on the terrace over the water, though a bit expensive
Review 35:Would prefer better access to the ocean for swinning. The steps are always slippery and difficult to use for people like me.
Review 36:Love the entire place and setting.
Review 37:A little hard to get to, and Jamaican roads are pretty rough.
Review 38:Great Breakfast, friendly staff, they washed the car in the morning (!), everything was pretty clean and comfortable.
Review 39:Service is slow and communication with bar tendress is a challenge
Review 40:One can walk down the steps and snorkel to the same place that the tours go to. Oceanfront rooms have great views and spacious covered patios
Review 41:The music from the street was loud and throughout the night BUT i have a strong feeling that unless you were in an all inclusive resort, it would be the same anywhere. The breakfast was a bit unsatisfying but adequate. Pool was nice but the bridge across it was weird and made the pool look small.
Review 42:The ocean views from the cliff were picture perfect and the cliff side swimming alcove were beautiful. Location was as good as it gets being a 5minute walk from town or the adjacent beach. Marlene at the front desk was a true blessing and gave us a great, cheap ($12 for two ppl), alternative for transport to Montego Bay!
Review 43:There is no much information about arriving the hotel. There is no refrigerator or beverages at the room.
Review 44:The different views close the ocean, places and stairs near the water.
Review 45:I was charged $10 a day for something i dont even remember (room cleaning, maybe) that wasnt shown on booking.com, i dont know if its booking´s fault or the hotel´s, but this should be taken care of, its not much, but Jamaica is already pretty expensive!
Review 46:Location, staff (Marlin was pretty cool and helpful), facilites were nice for young couples, even though we didnt spend much time at the hotel (you shouldnt stay at the hotel when visiting Ocho Ríos), but it does need a little more life at the bar, at night!! BREAKFAST WAS GREAT!!!!!! The view and and the hotel architecture is worth the stay.
Review 47:The staff is excellent. Everyone of them. The view is so great you wont want to leave. You can walk to other places without paying for a taxi. We will come back!!!
Review 48:Breakfast and food in the restaurant was not as good as we'd expected. Especially the evening meal - very ordinary food that you could probably cook better yourself. Slow service at breakfast despite us being the only people there one day.
Review 49:Good location. Large rooms and king size bed so a good night's sleep. Clean and well kept.
Review 50:Noisy streets in Ocho Rios
Review 51:Beautiful sea views, gardens and welcoming staff, some of whom have given a life-time of service. Swimming pool and platform below the cliff gave us two enjoyable swimmimg options which we took advantage of every day during our 5 day stay. Meals on the terrace were a delight.
Review 52:I thought the location and the hotel was charming. I felt that I was back in time. The staff of the hotel was great for the most part but somethingshe still needs a little upgrading. I didn't like the air conditioner right over my head and the bed was very uncomfortable. but I think it was the best bang for your buck.
Review 53:I did not like the one option menu for breakfast .
Review 54:It was Nice , Clean Environment, Some Insects but nothing to be scared of . Hotel Staff was friendly gave great advice as to where to eat , what to do , how to get there .
Review 55:The location overlooking the sea and also closeness to Ocho Rios centre and the main attractions. Swimming pool was very nice and clean, and nice and extensive grounds
Review 56:Accessibility difficult especially for people with challenges. Newly renovated rooms need to be aired as smell of varnish too strong to spend long periods in room.....unhealthy!
Review 57:setting/landscape very charming and private verandas with sea view lovely. Restaurant delightful and wait staff attentive and courteous. Location in town center convenient. Very quiet!
Review 58:I didnt the fact tht there was no mini fridge or microwave in the room.
Review 59:I liked the comfort and the privacy of the resort. It wasnt over the top or fussy but was a nice little relaxation spot. Oh and the breakfast was amazing!
Review 60:Room service (lack of) cleaning of room poor and cleaned very late inthe day no adverts about the facilities around the hotel security notall that!!! Tea and coffee facilities would have been preferred
Review 61:No disturbances not crowded not noisy minimal access to the sea(very private)
Review 62:The service for breakfast a la carte was poor. We had to wait at least 30 minutes before our order was taken or water poured in our glasses and the restaurant wasn't even busy. After waiting for at least another 30 minutes for our food, the order wasn't fulfilled. The toast was cold and the danish was stale. The juice which was ordered first was still at that point not delivered. Only after getting up and insisting to receive it. When leaving the restaurant we were instantly flocked and asked if the bill was paid. Ignoring the closed tab left on the table . The urgency in which the paid tab was checked on should be the urgency of attending to serving us and in same record time. Very disappointed.
Review 63:The room was clean and comfortable. The property is beautiful. The staff upon arrival was pleasant.
Review 64:It was fine for me but if you would have difficultly ambulating up and down stairs or was disabled would not be the place for you to go.
Review 65:I loved the view everyday and the staff was excellent!! The Massage I had was Great!! Thanks to all the wonderful staff - would stay again.
Review 66:NO SOAP HOLDER IN SHOWER NO FRIDGERATOR
Review 67:Ocean view Pool Rooms were super clean Decor was vibrant Breakfast was EXCEELLENT BEAUTIFUL GARDEN LOTS OF JAMAICAN GUESTS
Review 68:Access to wifi was at times inconsistent.
Review 69:The friendliness and competence of the staff. The "old style" of the facility that is alternative to the cookie-cutter glitz of the big all-inclusive hotels. The quality of the food and the service at the restaurant.
Review 70:The fact that there are no phones in the rooms. There is no means to communicate with the front desk in the case of an emergency. I am surprised that this is not a statutory requirement for hotels. As a business traveller, communication is essential and this was difficult to do in the room as the Wi-Fi kept dropping our although the router was right outside my room.
Review 71:Location was very convenient and the food and drinks are good. The staff was very friendly and the room was satisfactory.

Review 120:The ocean view, silence. The restaurant are vey nice.
Review 121:Nice view
Review 122:Small bathroom Uncomfortable bed
Review 123:The location is in a very busy area of Ocho Rios, very congested at certain times of the day. Interesting type people lurking about, felt uncomfortable at times being a tourist. The noise from the bar bothered me at times when trying to nap, relax, or watch t.v. I could hear the music from the bar. Didn't care much for the restaurant food.
Review 124:I really liked the balcony and the ocean view. The grounds were very beautiful and well maintained...loved it. A/C in the room was very nice when it got hot. Convenience of supermarkets for picking certain needed items.
Review 125:Our shower was 'stuck' in one setting and needed replacing - we told the staff on departure and I am sure it will be fixed for next time.
Review 126:Location is superb - stunning! Rooms fresh and light. Comfortable beds. Lovely pool, and swimming area from the rocks wonderful. Will definitely stay again.
Review 127:Long-established, small Jamaican hotel with view over the sea, set inwell cared for gardens. Excellent staff and good restaurant. Peaceful, although close to the heart of old Ocho Rios.
Review 128:We really enjoyed the facilities and there at Hibicus, the terraces to sit and relax at with beautiful panoramic views of the sea! Enjoyed the pool and the beach swimming area too! We had a large room with a balcony with a view of the sea! And each morning we were greeted with smiles by the friendly the staff,,,with a very good breakfast. Good location in the town. We had a very good stay at the Hibiscus Hotel!
