Hotel Der Schmittenhof sells fast on our site. The Schmittenhof is a 4-star hotel at the foot of the Schmittenhöhe, right next to the ski slopes and just 650 ft from the cable car. All rooms have a furnished balcony overlooking Lake Zell or the mountains.
The bright and elegant non-smoking rooms feature a flat-screen cable TV, a safe, and a bathroom with bathrobes, hairdryer, and make-up mirror.
Hotel Der Schmittenhof’s Mediterranean-style spa area includes several saunas and a herbal steam bath. Guests can use it on weekdays.

Review 1：A lot of things... Internet, extra charged, slow or not working at all. Extra charge 80 euros for cleaning. Extra charge for using kitchen in apartment (with kitchen). Not even close to 4 stars hotel, more likely 2 stars hotel.

Review 3：How could I not like anything! I didn't even had the chance to stay in the hotel.It's a ghost hotel.There's nobody there.

Review 4：Four stars hotel where nobody answers the phone during the day and when you arrive at the evening there is no one in the house! And again nobody answers the phone! There is nothing right in this hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 5：It was great but the balcony is touch the next apartment so it's a pit less private.. And the breakfast is 15€ ber each even if it's with different choices but it's a bit expensive..

Review 6：The location is very good away from noise and on a calm area.. It's in a good location to see the lake and the mountains and a private Parking and that's if you have a car if not it'll be hard for you a way from facilities..

Review 21：- no coffee or tea machine in the room, if you want just hot water at the bar you have to paid as you would order tea (3 EUR), this is not necessary for 4 star hotel - the waiter broke the cork when opening bottle of wine and did not bring a new bottle and just continued to dig the cork, he was very friendly, but wine knowledge was rather poor - after payment I checked the bill later at home and the final bill was 200 EUR higher, I got it back, but that was a bitter end of my stay - for me the bed was too soft

Review 28：We had a self catering apartment and, as seems usual in Austria, the kitchen didn't have some basic things like washing up liquid. When you arrive on a Saturday afternoon and the shops are closed until Monday, that is awkward. However, they had some things like dishwasher tablets and cloths that I have missed in other places.

Review 38：- A little far from Zell am See center - it takes about 2kms down the hill. - Stuff is a bit cold and distanced. - Every room has it's own table in hotel's restaurant. Unfortunatly I didn't get one, which made quite an awkward situation at brekafast where I didn't have a place to sit down with my hands full. Luckly, it was quite quicly solved by a kind young girl. - I was staying in the room most distanced from the centre of the building and the wi-fi wasn't working - at all. I asked for a cable connection but the receptionist told me it will work with the same speed. Luckly, I insisted and cable-internet worked fine.

Review 65：Far too many of the lights work off sensors, so they're going on and off a lot, which can be irritating. Even in the bathroom, the light works off a sensor, which means it doesn't switch on until you're about halfway into the bathroom (with no window) itself. Unless you like meat and particularly pork, the choice at meal times is fairly limited. The quality of the fish products needs improvement and/or more enhanced cooking. The coffee was awful, luke warm and on the bitter side. A 20 minute steep down hill walk into the town centre, so getting home always involved a taxi. Quite handy for the slopes though.

Walkable - meaning you can beat the crowds packed at the town centre lift, and don't need to hang around for a bus. food was very good. all the facilities you'd expect (ski and boot stalls, sauna) and the people were all very pleasant.

Review 71：When I reserved the room it was listed at ~€85. It was a nice apartmentstyle room with a kitchen... However if you wanted to use the kitchenyou had to pay an additional €70. Everything they offer like spa,internet... You have to pay extra for!!! To top it off when I checkedout of the room the tacked on additional €60 cleaning fee for the room.Nothing was disclosed when I rented the room about additional charges.Will never stay there again.

Staff was not helpful and even obnoxious 3. Verbally quoted prices for breakfast which turned out to be 25% higher at check out 4. Tried to sneak into our bill a 58 Euro charge (and hardly even apologized when I found their error) 5. Charged us 60 Euro for cleaning (half the rate of the so called apartment!) even though we stayed there for about 14 hours total... Should I say more...?

Review 74：The staff were so rud to customer They cancel a room reserved by me and the resone was invalid credit card and when I call them after a half an hour and after i sort it out with my bank and they garanti to me that nothing wrong with my card i call them exactly after an half hour they said we can't do anything for you,,I told them try again or wait for me when I arrived you checked they refuse to do so,, and said we don't have Avialiable room for you!!!!!!! So my brother has an previous reservation (appartment) with them and we all set together without their knowledge . They took 60 EURO for using the kitchen The Internet signal were very poor but they did'nt say it before I paied for using their Internet and we were in first floor The clean service and breakfast was poor

Review 80：We had a request and we called the reception but we were advised to ask them by e -mail. We sent a request by e-mail 3 days before our arrival, the same day when we called. Answer received only after a second e-mail, when we said that it is not at all a normal situation to not receive an answer, even if our request will not be solved. The day of arrival we received their answer (we read it at the hotel), our request not resolved and the explanation: the internet did not worked for two days. The conclusion: we will never go there again.

Review 85：Misleading information in guest room. Letter placed in kitchen said wewould be charged an additional 70 euros "IF" we used thekitchen. We avoided using the kitchen and ate out instead so we wouldnot be charged the additional fee, and then at checkout, we were toldthe fee was already added to our bill for staying in the apartment.Since we already were being charged for this, that letter was totallymisleading. It should have let us know we were being charged, not"IF" we used the kitchen. Receptionist refused to acknowledgethe conflict when this was called to her attention; just said the letteris in all apartments. Staff not very friendly. Another inconvenience isthat the hotel only offers a pricey set menu for breakfast and dinner;no choices offered for a lighter or less expensive meal. No otherrestaurants in the immediate area, so one must go down to the city area.Buses stop running at 6:00 pm, and it is a very steep walk back to thehotel. Taxis charge a minimum of 10 euros. Things to consider beforereserving at this hotel.
