Reviews for Hotel Vardar
Review 1:Nothing at all
Review 2:Excellent location. It is in the middle of old city. Lovely ladies at the reception. Room was big and clean all the time. Breakfast was decent.
Review 3:We had some difficulty getting the ac in the room to work, but they staff was able to fix it. They were very accommodating.
Review 4:Great location. Staff was very helpful. We were able to check into our room early and use their free parking. Would highly recommend.
Review 5:Hotel should focus either on groups or individuals! As it is a boutique hotel too small to combine the two. Resulting in a lot of noise from 6 to 7 am when groups are having early breakfast and leaving with suitcases. The elevator rings every time next to your door. Due to the groups there was no breakfast left for us (although there at 8 am on all days), only some leftovers.
Review 6:The hotel is very nice and location is perfect.
Review 7:I had a lovely room, a junior suite with a lovely view over the square but it was quiet. The staff were so friendly and helpful and arranged my airport transfer and some excursions. A good breakfast provided each morning also.
Review 8:zero!
Review 9:The staff are just lovely and super friendly. Our stay here had to be one of of the major highlights of our trip. The location couldn't be better - close to everything - and the view from our room looked out to the beautiful mountains. Simply spectacular!
Review 10:Breakfast was not great - when paying so much i have to say i was disappointed with it and didn't eat much. TV crackled when watched. Lighting/ decor in the hallways was dated which is surprising as the rooms are so lovely.
Review 11:Room was fantastic - very comfortable and loved the bathrooms - great shower. Extremely peaceful and a comfortable nights sleep. AC was very good - decor in the rooms was top notch. Lovely to see it still had some of the original charm in places - didn't feel soulless like some big hotels. Courtyard by the lift was nice and flooded the place with natural light.
Review 12:Minor issue with noisy revellers late at night in streets of old town- par for the course, and did not spoil my stay.
Review 13:Friendly staff, superbly fitted room, free Wi-Fi, substantial breakfast, great food, lovely outside shaded boutique style cafe area where you could sit and watch the world go by.
Review 14:Hotel was very comfortable, clean, wonderful breakfast, excellent location, friendly and helpful staff and a great value! They also offer a very reasonable transport from Dubrovnik airport.
Review 15:Nothing!
Review 16:We had a very comfortable 2 night stay here. The staff were very welcoming and met us with golf buggy in car park outside city walls and took time to explain what we should do. Spacious room and great location
Review 17:Rooms are very dark with limited light from narrow streets compounded by dark decor and poor lighting.
Review 18:Ideal location just inside walls. Staff was very attentive and recommended an excellent restaurant nearby.
Review 19:The air conditioner in the first room didn't work. The bathroom was cramped and there was a problem with the sink. When I told them about it the next morning, they immediately offered a change in rooms and gave me the opportunity to check out the new room before they moved us. The second room was great: large, huge bathroom and everything worked!
Review 20:The location couldn't be better. The breakfasts were good because they cooked whatever you wanted.
Review 21:Bed felt uncomfortable. I had back pain almost every day, but I have very sensitive back and have to sleep in hard mattress. Can't think of anything else. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 22:Room was clean, beautiful bathroom with excellent quality towels, super nice rain shower, the nicest staff that genuinely cared, especially our housekeeper Lilia who was super sweet and kind to my 3 yr old daughter, I will not forget her gentleness and kindness. Front staff were always ready to answer any questions and prompt to advise and help. Breakfast was very good and plentiful and they made eggs to your liking. Location was superb, right at the main gate.
Review 23:They are some very noisy rooms especially in week ends when the discotheques are playing noisy music till one o'clock . After complaint the room was exchanged to one of the best rooms in hotel with out additional cost.
Review 24:The location is excellent just a few steps after passing the gate to the old city. the staff was friendly and ready to assist for any request.Good WIFI.
Review 25:Not a criticism of the hotel, but like a lot of places these days, Kotor has all the charm sucked out of it when the dreaded cruise-ships arrive. I seriously hope that the restaurants, cafes and shops do really well from fleecing the swarms from the ships every day, because they really do make the place a good deal less appealing between (in our case anyway) 10-00am and 4-00 pm, between which times we headed out of town and hence deprived local businesses of our (admittedly meagre!) spending power. It wouldn't stop me go to Kotor, but the lovely old town is a good deal more attractive in the early morning and evening.
Review 26:Perfect location in the main square, a few seconds from the lovely alleyways and squares in Kotor. Friendly and helpful staff; better than average breakfasts, and a lovely bedroom and bathroom. Not a great deal to fault here and future reviewers have got it just about right. And the Restoran Galion (in the same ownership) was just about perfect as a wonderful romantic waterside spot for a birthday meal. Not cheap but well worth the money. Let them know you are staying at the Vardar - you'll be well looked after!
Review 27:Super nice staff and super helpful. Modern, quiet, super clean room, wifi, air conditioning and very comfortable bed. Great Shower. Good breakfast. Would stay here again.
Review 28:A bit pricey but not by N American or other Euro standards. Worth it to have a room overlooking the square. Some of the other rooms though large are dark.
Review 29:Service, warmth, location in Old Kotor, bed, breakfast all outstanding. Cannot say enough good things about the managers and all staff!
Review 30:Lovely hotel in a great location right in the heart of old town. Staff were friendly and very helpful, also they had arranged a free room upgrade for us for our anniversary. Breakfast was nice with good hot food cooked to order. (Although if you like tea you should bring your own tea bags). The hotel restaurant is at a different site - beautiful location on the water - and the food was divine. Old town is a pedestrian zone but hotel arranged for us to use car park 5mins away, free of charge.
Review 31:The hotel is situated in the heart of the walled city of Kotor, it is avery short wall from the cities main entrance. The staff were excellentwhether it was arranging the gym or steam room for use or arrangingtransport to Dubrovnik. The breakfast was very tasty featuring a mix ofEuropean and British style on a self service style buffet. The gymalthough small has a bench and weights, a running machine and a crosstrainer as well as a steam room and sauna. The room was large and had angreat shower with plenty of room, a comfy bed and Mini bar. The citydoes get chilly in the evening when the wind comes in but most barsprovide blanket'S.
Review 32:We had a minor issue with lukewarm water, but this was resolved immediately on complaint. Staff were very friendly & co-operative.
Review 33:This small hotel is the hub around which the old walled city revolves. Situated in the main square, it is within walking distance of everything that old Kotor has to offer. The hotel breakfast is wonderful, especially the in-house pastries like burek & strudel. Our room overlooked the main square & had a small terrace, which was lovely at this time of year; it may be a bit noisy at night during the summer, but was very quiet now at the end of October. The hotel also owns a restaurant on the harbour, called Galion - highly recommended. I will certainly stay here again.
Review 34:nothing
Review 35:It's location is perfect, when you enter the entrance of old town, you see the hotel. The breakfast was good, staff was very helpfull, they have transfer services to/from airport (with additional charge) and it was comfortable. The restaurant of hotel was delicious, we had dinner there and we enjoyed all our meal.
Review 36:+Location (Square view, At the heart of Kotor) + Breakfast (You find whatever you want, plus you can order omlettes etc.,) + Hospitality (very qualified employees) +Our standart room was upgraded by hotel administration to junior suit (arms square view, bigger and more comfortable, i recommend for you book front side suit room)
Review 37:Absolute nothing.
Review 38:VADAR is right in the Centre of the old City. A fantastic Hotel. Rooms are fitted with everything. Bathrooms are excellent. Staff very attentive and friendly. Huge Breakfast Buffet. Restaurant right in front of the Building. Everything you want or have to see is in walking distance. When going through the Wall-Gate you see already the VADAR Hotel.
Review 39:The room was lovely. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The views of the mountains from the hotel were breathtaking and the location in the Old Town was perfect for roaming. Very nice shower and facilities.
Review 40:Standard of maintenance is letting it down - training of cleaners needs to improve to spot details Hot water was sporadic
Review 41:Upgrade to an excellent top floor room Staff were very friendly and helpful Wifi worked very well Location was perfect
Review 42:Staff at the reception was rather unfriendly and you have to plan much time for the breakfast as you have to ask the waiters a lot for stuff missing on the buffet...
Review 43:Everything was just fine besides the staff at the reception
Review 44:This is just a suggestion: Perhaps a better breakfast arrangement. It is very rich however it takes time to see the food variety, especially the local pastries.
Review 45:Everything was fabulous! Location, spacious room, very nice and helpful staff, rich breakfast. Be sure to taste the local pastries. They are delicious. As it was my birthday when we arrived we had our room upgraded and after dinner a complimentary bottle of champagne waiting. Parking is very well organized at a nearby parking lot. A must stay in the beautiful town of Kotor.
Review 46:Nothing...everything was great!!!
Review 47:Amazing experience we had here luxurious boutique hotel. The classy and quaint breakfast buffet was amazing with cook to order eggs. My son played the piano towards the end with the nice lady at front desk, Viola? It was an awesome moment we had... Also, Marc was so pleasant at all times attending the breakfast and everyones' needs throughout the day. Can't wait to go back again, people from Montenegro left a great lasting impression on us. Beautiful country!!!
Review 48:Perfectly situated on the main square of Kotor old town, just inside the city walls near the main gate. Our room was large and comfortable, very good bathroom (although water not very hot), and quiet at night despite the bustle outside. The A/C worked well, so a brief return to the room during the day to escape the heat was welcome. The restaurant and bar was good, good range of breakfast options although the coffee was not great. The hotel also owns Restaurant Galion, probably the best in Kotor and beautifully located on the shore, overlooking the illuminated city wall at night. As hotel residents we got 10% discount at Galion. The hotel reception staff were extremely helpful, for example they arranged an excursion for us to the mountains with their driver and large vehicle, which was good value.
Review 49:Absolutely, nothing!
Review 50:We liked everything. Breakfast is excellent. Very large bathrooms and comfortable and clean rooms. This was a treat after having visited 5 other nearby countries and feeling very tired. Especially to mention was Zlatinka, with her elegance, courtesy and piano skills. We plan to return and stay much longer. Galleon restaurant was superb, as was the spa she recommended.
Review 51:The hotel was located right in the center of the town. Very clean and modern with all amenities. Shower was great! It also had an elevator. I liked the fact that we could order what we wanted for breakfast. Staff was friendly and attentive.
Review 52:The A/C didn't work very well, and there was only a tiny window so the room was quite dark (although that made for good sleeping).
Review 53:The location was key. Their courtyard restaurant on the main square was a fun place to eat and people watch.
Review 54:We had a great stay here-- the hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-located. Our only complaint: one the day there, repair was being done related to the water system so the water was turned off from 10am-2pm. It was inconvenient while staying in a hotel-- arrangements should have been made for a more convenient time.
Review 55:Breakfast very poor.
Review 56:Location
Review 57:Car parking is outside walls of town and receptionist was rude with me because I forgot my ticket.
Review 58:Noise outside room (remember to close your windows if you want the AirCon to run!)
Review 59:Location, room decor, friendly staff, breakfast
Review 60:Nothing.
Review 61:Location in the old town. Excellent room and facilities. Friendly staff.
Review 62:Nice breakfast but should be served outdoor
Review 63:Central location in old city of Kotor Very clean and comfortable Friendly staff
Review 64:Excellent location
Review 65:Poor wifi, didn't work in the room and was poor even in reception/bar area.
Review 66:The modern bathroom, comfortable bed and location.
Review 67:Hotel in great location, staff eager to please and friendly. Hotel clean and excellent facilities
Review 68:Eveything
Review 69:i wish ı could find but nothing :)
Review 70:perfect location and perfect service...
Review 71:Right in the centre of the walled city!
Review 72:Too few electrical outlets, the lamps by the bed did not function.
Review 73:A little noisy late at night
Review 74:You have to make reservation for parking (or be lucky).
Review 75:Fantastic location, quiet room despite busy location, really nice clean room.
Review 76:We misunderstood the parking arrangement
Review 77:We had a very comfortable room overlooking the square
Review 78:One of our rooms had trouble with the air conditioner.
Review 79:Perfect location, close to all attractions. Kind staff and beautiful rooms.
Review 80:Dark rooms
Review 81:Quality hotel, fab beds, great aircon, good service
Review 82:Dark rooms, chaotic breakfast time!
Review 83:Clean although they should vacuum heir carpet more often. Evening can be noisy as it's in the middle of the old town.
Review 84:Good location and breakfast
Review 85:breakfast.
Review 86:Locations, old town center.
Review 87:Coffee
Review 88:Service
Review 89:Located in this unique old town. Very beautiful and quiet. Staff very friendly and helpful. An excellent hotel to rest after work too.
Review 90:Very well situated,good breakfast,very clean
Review 91:It was placed wonderful in KOTOR ! Even if its a little bit noise sometimes night time but who cares when you are in the middle of the town!!
Review 92:Fantastic location in the old town, great spot for a drink watching the world go by. Sister restaurant Gallion great setting and good food.
Review 93:Location was on the main square and the rooms appear to be recently renovated and clean. Great bathroom with big shower!
Review 94:A bit soulless as u enter from the front street
Review 95:Breakfast and the room
Review 96:Some spots and dirt on carpet
Review 97:Location and bathroom very modern.
Review 98:Bit noisy on Friday night.
Review 99:Fabulous location. Very clean and the room was lovely with everything that we needed. Nice breakfast. Had a problem with the lock on our door and the staff were very helpful.
Review 100:We did not have hot water one day that we were there but they gave us the option of changing rooms or using another room to shower in. They did give us a discount at check out which we were not expecting but did appreciate very much
Review 101:the accommodations were very nice. Slippers and bathrobes were a nice added comfort. The breakfast that was included was excellent. There was a lot of variety to choose from. The staff was friendly and very helpful.
Review 102:Breakfast is poor - for a 4 star hotel eg being charged extra for a latte at breakfast because the filter coffee on tap was not great. Also not much option if you did not want eggs or cold meat - they really need to look at what other good hotels have on offer to see the standard guests might expect. Same savoury bowls of accoutrements out every morning untouched from the day before. that might indicate the guests don't want that for breakfast. Toast was barely done - why not let guests make their own. And some fruit salad would be nice (there was a fuit bowl but it's not quite the same). Also tiny amount of cereal on the buffet table - you serve yourself from a bowl barely bigger than the one you're putting it into. Breakfast is a big part of staying in a hotel and really not that difficult to get right so I hope they do.
Review 103:have stayed here before so know the hotel well - standard room was fine not too tiny though a bit dark even with blinds open. Nice big bathroom though and heated floor so a good standard of room. Staff on reception generally very friendly and pleasant and overall a good place to stay. The Old Town is always noisy - but our room was quiet and we slept well. Comfortable bed.
Review 104:The hotel is located very close to a club that plays very loud music until the early morning hours at least on week-ends. Depending on your room it is impossible to sleep until the band quits.
Review 105:Everything about the hotel was first rate except as noted under things I did not like.
Review 106:Very good locatıon in old town, the room was luxorıous. Everythıng was very tıdy and clean. The receptıon was very frıendly and kınd.Mrs Bojana and Mrs Dragana were perfect.
Review 107:door handles come off in room, no room in bathroom to put your toiletries. Window curtains partly off curtain rails. Breakfast rather mixed with sometimes no sliced bread and there was no toaster to make toast. Boiled eggs not cooked.
Review 108:Central location. Large room mainly quiet but not every night. Reception staff very helpful in sorting out the flight home when Air Serbia cancelled a key flight.
Review 109:internet connection was terrible! they really have to work on that.
Review 110:Everything, great location, rich breakfast, rooms are HUUGEEE, floor heating in the bathroom is really epic! Probably the best hotel in Kotor.
Review 111:breakfast was poor - not much choice other than eggs and stale cereals which had been left out in open bowls. Had to ask for everything incl butter for toast and milk for cornflakes. toast was barely done. shame as although low season we had expected better from a 4 star hotel.
Review 112:lovely room - we had the junior suite. large comfy bed, great bathroom and nice decor. Staff generally very friendly and attentive.
Review 113:You have to park outside the walled town and were told to show our hotel bill on leaving the car park to cover the payment. We had to pay 18 Euros because apparently we had parked in the wrong car park. There was no indication where you had to park so we parked in the nearest one. The hotel website should state where you should park!
Review 114:The location within the walled town was great. The room we had was very spacious and comfortable and the breakfast was ideal.
Review 115:Decoration of the room is dated, shower hose was leaking, toilet seat was broken, internet was working only occasionally, breakfast was not fresh
Review 116:Location, size of the room
Review 117:The wifi was weak in the rooms but was fine in the hotel lobby andbreakfast and the cafe.
Review 118:The Hotel Vardar is in the city square in Kotor. Not far from the mainentrance. It is a very nice hotel with wonderful staff. The rooms wereluxurious and although a bit dark felt very elegant. The stay included afabulous breakfast! The waiter was very helpful with the breakfast andwith historical and city information. The location of the hotel withinthe walled city is perfect. The city of kotor should not be missed.Parking is available and is not far from the hotel. We didn't haveviews from our rooms but the room itself was so nice that was fine.
Review 119:Compared with a previous stay at this hotel the breakfast was presented without enthusiasm and as if it was there only because guests required it.
Review 120:The position is excellent. Ask for a quiet room away from Street noise particularly at weekends The free Wi fi was appreciated
Review 121:We requested non smoking room and ours smelled of smoke, someone must have been smoking next door but it was though they were in the room with us. Shower could have been cleaner. Carpet was stained and had cigarette burn marks. Breakfast was modest
Review 122:Location was nice with good restaurant, nice size room.
Review 123:Breakfast was fine, but with all the sweets, seemed more like a tea service. Obviously, you can't bring your car into the old town, so lugging your bags 2+ blocks from the car lot was a challenge...but we managed.
Review 124:Living inside a tiny walled city. Access to the old town features. Their restaurant a few blocks away, on the bay, is marvelous and unique. Our room, a suite overlooking the main plaza, was quite nice. WiFi was good. Elevator.
Review 125:I was told the day before arrival (which had been booked for months)that supposedly the room that was intended for me had been damaged andthat a room had been arranged for me at another hotel for the same rate. The other room turned out to be of a much lower standard and when mywife and I complained after one night at the other hotel, a better roomat Vardar became available (which they so graciously gave me at the samerate). The manager was insincere and unapologetic. I did not get thesense that I was being dealt with honestly.
Review 126:Beautiful hotel, very comfortable and best location in Kotor.
