Reviews for The Mayflower Hotel
Review 1:Not much space in the room. Small bathroom. Tired decor. Front desk staff polite but not particularly friendly.
Review 2:Excellent location. Good breakfast. Friendly staff in restaurant.
Review 3:This is not a real 4 star hotel as you will find somewhere else but at least it is clean.
Review 4:Location is good. In Hamra Street , a lot of nice coffee shops and bars nearby. Breakfast is good , Staff are polite and professional.
Review 5:I could easily hear voices in the coridor inside my room, the hotel is very boring it is not good one for young people as they dont have any sort of entertainment or night life and the breakfast wasn't the best and the stuff is helpful too..
Review 6:The location is great its almost inside el hamra very easy to reach and near many restaurants and some of the good night life in Beirut
Review 7:Very classic old beirut style hotel and Hamra is the best place in Beirut. Hamra is true Beirut where everyone belongs, everyone can feel welcome. The hotel is also surrounded by some nice bars and pubs for a great night out.
Review 8:The maids rearrange the rooms too late . Some clients they do not respect the tranquility of others .
Review 9:They receive you with a smile . They help you with all their capacities . They react quickly to resolve any complaint . Very rich & variant breakfast . Close to all you need to buy .
Review 10:Deal working in the reception was dry and inflexible in answer loss with a smile
Review 11:Location, cleanliness and services compared with the price as well as good credibility in the provision of booking through booking.com
Review 12:The hotel had been modernised but had retained real 1950s charm and character. Good generous breakfast. Great location near to lots of shops, cafes and restaurants. It was nice to be able to walk out in the evening and to have everything nearby.
Review 13:Clean. Quiet. Rich breakfast. Access to shops center it is in the heart of Hamra str.
Review 14:I had an amazing stays I recommend this hotel to all my friends riend and I will like to visit it again
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:1) FIVE STARS SERVICE 2) very professional & helpful staff 3) excellent value for money 4) I was upgraded to a two-floor executive suite 5) although hotel is in busy Hamra area, I didn't hear any street noise 6) breakfast buffet has lots of variety with fresh & delicious food
Review 17:Noise in the evening. The rooms alittel bit old fashion and small.
Review 18:Location near sea, shops and restaurants. Clean rooms and friendly stuff. Free wifi.
Review 19:Great location, friendly staff, low price end but very clean and everything works ok. Free wifi and the breakfast is what you would expect for a free breakfast so no complaints there either.
Review 20:The first time I was given a smoking room. I assumed all rooms smelt like that because I don't recall a questionnaire with options the first time I booked. The second time I realised that there were non-smoking rooms and thus had a much better experience.
Review 21:Cleanliness & Friendliness
Review 22:I loved every bit of my stay at may flower hotel
Review 23:Excellent location and very helpful staff. Close to city centre , pubs , shopping and a very clean hotel with excellent free wifi The breakfast was awesome and free , a must try for everyone
Review 24:A little misunderstanding with the checkout was a slight inconvenience at the end of a comfortable stay.
Review 25:The staff were nice. The parking was never a source of headache. And room service was very prompt.
Review 26:I loved it all.
Review 27:What not to like,Amazing hospitality with an awesome staff.affordable with a 4 stars service.i was afraid of booking with out at least seeing the room but took the chance happily i was surprised with the high standards in such an old hotel.i like the vintage touch!!
Review 28:Being in a room just right beside the staff area where they are entering and exeting also right beside the AC main unit and beside the cabinet there were pipes also when I tried to extend two more days the receptionist kept delaying my request up the the checkout time and told me that the hotel is fully booked so I had to find another hotel in a couple of hours
Review 29:The location is the best thing about the hotel
Review 30:Our card was declined. Cause was categorically attributed to our card/ bank. After approx three hours trying to call our bank on poor internet we established that no bar existed on our card. We insisted the card was tried on another machine. It worked first time. No apology or even acknowledgement of the inconvenience.
Review 31:Location Breakfast staff were genuinely interested in helping and welcoming us. Make sure you insist on staying in the modernised section. Don't entertain talk of being upgraded to older suites.
Review 32:The WiFi is very poor
Review 33:I like the location of the hotel, its in the heart of Hamra street and closer to local shops. The hotel is clean, the room is clean too with comfortable beds
Review 34:The room didnt have balcony as described and was not soooo clean The elevator is so small and we couldn't use it for the kid trolley Guests can't use the mini pool on Wednesdays The furniture is Apollo old
Review 35:The stuff is great, they are soooo friendly and helpfull
Review 36:The roof swimming pool is realy tiny, but still recommend the hotel as The Managers are really professional. Even Charbel on the reception was so helpful, and Hasan in the bar is quite welcoming.
Review 37:Shopping area, great restaurants around, the bar of the hotel itself is amazing! Highly recommended.
Review 38:No complaints.
Review 39:Comfortable room. Excellent service, particularly from two waiters who reminded me of old style English butlers. Useful position in the heart of Hamra.
Review 40:The only problem is the nois around but for sure that's not the Hotel fault. If you are in the center that normally happens
Review 41:The location, the places's history, its workers attitude and the history of the hotel.
Review 42:In this trip to Lebanon I've tried 4 hotel all they have same common the view is bad in all and the furniture is old as well as the water is salty and I think the hospitalty is more developed but unfortunately in Lebanon still the same since 30 years .
Review 43:Location is the heart of hamra pretty good with good wifi and not salty water
Review 44:The decore was a bit off as it was images of colonization. However, the service was excellent. Staff helpful and friendly. Walking distance from everything. It was a great experience and highly recommend you stay here. Affordable and you get the value of your money and even more. Just make sure they don't change you for the mini bar if you did not use it. Therefore, review your final bill carefully.
Review 45:Perfect location. Very clean and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I love the hotel's character. Excellent value for money.
Review 46:some renovation could improve the quality of stay.
Review 47:helpful staff that helps you with the tips of what to do. great location to access the bars and restaurants in Hamra. Staff was helpful to arrange a late check out to catch up with sleep.
Review 48:Windows and balcony doors didn't close fully, so the room was noisy and drafty at night. Furniture was very worn.
Review 49:Quirky old building and well-located.
Review 50:Wifi is very fast but disconnects on its own every now and then, had to buy 3G. Maybe coverage can be improved. Sometimes the receptionist tone seemed a bit too tense. The view from the room was not nice at all but that is ok with drapes that cover all the window perfectly. There is no gym or fitness center, I would not go anywhere else next time if it had at least a rudimentary gym with dumbells and barbells and a modifiable bench.
Review 51:Everything is functioning perfectly even if it may be old, elevator is perfect, shower and room are great, bed is enormous comfy, and the light switches and phone charger electric socket r perfectly placed. Facilities are very well detailed, with very nice instructions and preparations for everything. Very clean and looks like brand new even though u can tell its an old building and facility. Really loved my stay at this hotel. Also the breakfast was greaaat.
Review 52:Some voices .door crashing make many people who come for americanhospital uncomfortable
Review 53:Their facilities V.good ..it might be better if some attention focus onfine touch to get more score. .
Review 54:Staff are helpful always. Wifi has a good and stable connection. And they serve good breakfast. Overall, it was a nice stay. Would come back to the hotel again.
Review 55:None. The people are friendly but at the immigration they hold tourists for several hours to question tourists on the purpose of coming to beirut
Review 56:It is very near to alhambra street where shopping mall n shops located
Review 57:they upgraded my single room to junior suite, the junior suite is very nice and clean and the service is very fast, i will always stay in this hotel when i visit beirut,
Review 58:Wi-Fi ok but not the best. Obviously smoking was allowed in rooms before - smell does not go even if they try and that is a bit off putting. Reception staff ok, but not trying to help unless you ask - they did not seem to think of you as a tourist in their country. No info or help offered voluntarily.
Review 59:Breakfast was good. Room clean and comfortable. Location good and quiet. Staff at breakfast GREAT.
Review 60:the hotel is renovated, in a gd condition. the personnel are extremely warm and helpful. location is the best for shopping within Hamra street. easy access to every where, ensure having the correct time management (Hamra usual traffic Jam). regards to Mrs. Atik and Mr. Tahhan for their unlimited assistance. rgds, FK
Review 61:Nothing.
Review 62:The hotel facilities were great. However, what impressed me the most is the human quality of the staff. Only few times have I found such a willingness to help in every way possible.
Review 63:The noisy situation of the hotel The careless clients who make noise at night and during the day (the staff should be attentive to those impolite clients and warn them not to disturb others)
Review 64:The kindness of the staff The clean room The rich and good breakfast The quality/price relation
Review 65:The bed was stinking cigarettes. Something I never felt in a bed before. The hotel acted the next morning but even my pyjamas were smelling bad afterwards. They should control the room before giving it to a customer. The breakfast was very poor too. Not enough options.
Review 66:The wifi.
Review 67:AC never worked well so the room was cold most the time, the bathroom needs to be renovated but $65 a night was fair for the room in general.
Review 68:The location and the breakfast was good
Review 69:Wifi didn't work well in our room on the forth floor.
Review 70:Mayflower was a great place to stay at, great location, megafauna was friend,t and helpful, breakfast was decent, rooms were good size with a comfortable bed and clean bathroom
Review 71:I didn't like the people at the reception and it's a pity because they are the ones you see when you first go to the hotel.
Review 72:I liked the location and the people at the restaurant during breakfast.
Review 73:Poor room amenities. No room coffee/tea amenities. I guess next time I have to get my own water heater and coffee supplies. Manager did not respond to request to meet. Old furnishings.
Review 74:Location and Staff
Review 75:perfect location, heart of Hamra yet not very noisy. The hotel has a sense of character, especially with the lady who appears to be the owner/manager running the show in the morning. She was an absolute delight! Breakfast was excellent compared to other hotels in the area.
Review 76:Wifi connection is fair and always disconnecting, room view is horrible! in front of parking and buildings {all the people in the parking and the building can see your room clearly!
Review 77:Hotel location is great only 1 min walking from Hamra St,Breakfast is good,Room is clean and comfortable, value for money is great, special request for 3 single beds & early check in was done
Review 78:No valet Three days no room service and the AC WAS VERY NOISY Because all rooms are booked at New Years there was no hot water and when it came the water was brown of rust and soil. Mostly lebanonI water is not even touchable but this water was disgusting. It even tastes like chemicals.
Review 79:Poor comminucation between the unpleasant staff and customers, Breakfast is the same everyday. Limited TV channels (No sport channels).
Review 80:Location is nearby everything.
Review 81:Quality of food for dinner
Review 82:The whole environment of the hotel, cooperative and friendly staff, clean and comfortable services, location, and affordability and value of price
Review 83:The valet was so mean, receptionist won't help you when you ask him somthing. and they hardly smile :)
Review 84:Restaurant team were great and gentle, also the hotel porter was friendly.
Review 85:One of my friends was staying in the older wing of the hotel and was not as impressed as I was so I would advise anyone going to stay to try and ask for a room in the newer part of the hotel.
Review 86:The staff at this hotel are really friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, nestled between the day to day of Hamra, you really feel like you are staying in Beirut, unlike the high end hotels of the gentrified new districts where, to be honest, you could be anywhere in the world. The lobby and lounge area are really pleasant, there are great books and dvd's on offer and the elevator is so retro I loved it. The Bar is brilliant! The whole hotel has the feeling of a bygone era of technicolor, a little kitsch but very very pleasant. The staff at the Mayflower did everything they could to make me feel comfortable and welcome and I would definitely stay there again. It's great value for money and lots of fun.
Review 87:Wifi in the hotel was often very poor. Athough it improved intermittently it was difficult to predict when it would improve or deteriorate. It normally was ok for download, but so slow for upload as to be frustrating, and in particular Skype as a result was challenging and often unusable.
Review 88:Staff in particular were willing to go the extra mile. The room was comfortable although a desk at normal seated height would have assisted work on a computer. The bathroom had been recently refurbished. The bar and food were good value and very pleasant. I would unhesitatingly stay again on my next visit.
Review 89:They gave me an executive suite when i booked for a singl room, the room was very clean and nice, the service was very fast and adequate, I defenitly recommend this Hotel.
Review 90:I do not know why did you charge my credit card for the first night and I feel you are not trusted and I will never book with you or even recommend you to others
Review 91:dirty place, weird people, no parking, not a four star hotel, root stuff, show up with my 6 months Arabic gf and they start talking with her in a bad manner, asking for id and what she was doing with me, i try to ask for explanations but it was like i was not there and made me feel that their conversation was not concern of mine, i complain next day but it was clear i was avoided and never get to see the manager, honestly a bad experience for many reasons
Review 92:big rooms Great Location
Review 93:The bed sheets, while perfectly clean, seemed a bit old & rough.
Review 94:The location is awesome (Just a block from Hamra street). I was looking for a clean hotel room with basic amenities & I got it with this hotel. I wasn't looking for anything fancy and I didn't want to spend too much money, so the room fit the price. It was a good experience.
Review 95:TV& satellite need more updated. Towels colors should be white.
Review 96:staff were very welcome, especially at breakfast time. Also the cleaners, and maintenance team were very helpful. Front office (Reception) are very professional, and helpful when you ask advise or address.
Review 97:Internet..very bad wi-fi. It is still usable but you need to be very patient. Day staff reception (Ashraf and Sharbel) are not friendly, won't even say hello, just look at you and ignore you. Don't use taxis from the hotel: Ali, the responsible for the taxis, and his drivers, are like a gang...not friendly and high prices.
Review 98:I spend 4 weeks in this hotel and will go back if I go to Beirut again. The hotel is very clean. Beds are comfortable. Location is amazing, close to everything, 15 minutes walk to corniche (waterfront), 1min to Hamra, 1min to grocery store, and all restaurants and cafes are around. The rooms have a mini refrigerator and a safe. Evening reception staff, Hussein and Hassan are very friendly as well as very helpful. They will do whatever they can to make you happy. If you want to hire a taxi for the whole day, ask for Samir the taxi driver, thru Hassan or Hussein. Good price, honest, trustful and will please you. Also you can order on the net (allotaxi.com) if you are only going from point A to B, the price will come up on your screen and they are very punctual. Breakfast is good. Small variety to choose from, but good quality and filling. They offer pita bread, toast, donuts, cake, croissant, bread with oregano (lebanese specialty), different kinds of cheese, lebnah ( lebanese specialty), jam, tomato, cucumber, green olive, boiled eggs, fruits, bottled water, coffee and tea. While you are there, you need to try Barbar restaurant (off hamra). Good prices and good food. He offers the best Shawerma (gyros), grilled food (chicken is amazing), baked goods, and lebanese ice cream (bouza arabi). The hotel offers happy hour in the bar on Fridays at 7 pm...nice, worth going. US dollar is used everywhere and it equals to LL1500. So if you don't have Lebanese Lira on you, no problem. Beirut is safe, and is up almost all night. It is OK to walk at night. I spent there October 2014, and was about to cancel my trip because I listened too much to the media, concerning what is happening in Syria and around it now. I am glad I went, and am back home safe and.
Review 99:Just i dont like wifi connections. Sometimes it is disconnected 2 or 3mins.
Review 100:Breakfast was very nice and lots of opportunities. Hotel location was excellent just 2 mins hamra street and cafes and other Restaurants. When i come to beurit i always stay this hotel because of the location, breakfast and staff.
Review 101:It tends to be a three-star-hotel. The staff at reception is not friendly. Blankets aren’t in a good condition. Towels aren’t that clean. Wi-Fi is slow especially at night.
Review 102:Location is great. It’s a walk distance to sea cornice. Wi-Fi is available in rooms but slow especially at night, it’s much better in the lobby. Breakfast is good. Toliet is clean and newly renovated. overall it's fine; but i wouldn't stay again in Mayflower
Review 103:No coffee and tea facilities in the room. Otherwise everything was excellent
Review 104:Very nice room with the balcony. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location. Pity I could not stay there longer. No problem with WiFi
Review 105:Sheets were awefull dirty despite requesting them to be changed multiple times. Bathroom was terrible with mold and rust all over the place. Water was salty and had a pungt chlorine odor.
Review 106:The staff was ok.
Review 107:I waiting around half houre tell reception stuff prepare the room and it was after 14:00, reception staff don't know how to smile, any damage in the room you will charge with unreasonable rates (be careful)
Review 108:Hotel location, room clearance, resturant staff was so friendly, they response to all my request while my booking
Review 109:The street adjacent to the hotel was very noisy at nights. The windows of the room should have been double glazed in order to reduce the noise. We could not sleep comfortably. The wifi was not always connecting. For a 4 star hotel, I would have expected a more luxurious room than what we had.
Review 110:The location of the hotel was very good being near major shopping area.
Review 111:I booked a room for 3 people, payed around a $100 for one night. Unfortunately room was not the same as Hotel advertised on Booking.com. Hotel apparently has two sections, old and refurbished. My family has been given a very old room for 5 people in the old section, claiming that this the only available room. I believe that hotel should not advertise unavailable rooms. I was very disappointed due to the lake of honesty.
Review 112:breakfast was very limited choices .. wifi sometimes its disconnected ..
Review 113:the stuff was good and helpful .. location of the hotel is great because you have everything around you
Review 114:There was no bidet in the toilet although there was one in my friend's room toilet.
Review 115:First I'd like to thank all the staff members for the gracious hospitality especially Mr Sharbal and Mr Ashraf from the front disk and Mrs Naiema from the housekeeping and Mr Hassan in the restaurant. The location is perfect less than one minute walk to Hamra street to reach the shops. Room and bathroom were new and very clean and comfortable beds. Although you will not find many varieties in food but you you will enjoy every single item of it. Free valet parking.
Review 116:Bathroom was in terrible condition, gaps in the roof, did not have a functioning shower cubicle so the entire bathroom was soaking. Poor value for money - $160 for standard quality.
Review 117:Good view and nice bed. Lovely breakfast.
Review 118:The room was small and a bit shabby, though the bathroom was nice and modern. The pool is miniscule! And some of the front desk guys weren't super friendly.
Review 119:Honestly, I would stay here again just to use Wi-Fi that works on multiple devices and doesn't require me to jump through the hoops of some ridiculously convoluted log-in procedure every hour. It wasn't even super fast, it just WORKED. The rooms were small and perhaps not as up-to-date as they could be, but comfortable. Great location - we discovered an amazing little French restaurant just behind the hotel
Review 120:The guy in the room in front of us was an old guy who needed to die asap lol jk.. The pool is a disaster to think of coming near it!!
Review 121:The spot is very good close to a pharmacy, supermarket, beverage shop and clothe outlets.. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast is outstanding but rest of foods rest is fair
Review 122:The only problem I have had on both visits was the wifi connection. It drops in and out and you need to keep logging on. I found it very hard to be able to communicate with family and my partner overseas because of the poor wifi. In saying that I would return again to this hotel.
Review 123:The location is excellent. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It is a very clean hotel. I always feel comfortable when staying here.
Review 124:Breakfast - really need a change of menu. Wifi - is extremely slow. it needs a desperate upgrade.
Review 125:The location is quite close to the pubs and shopping. If you don't mind walking around the AUB walls, the beach is quite close as well. The staff is really helpful & are very willing to help anytime - day or night.
Review 126:All was good.
Review 127:The hotel is comfortable, very clean and the staff all in all are professional, friendly, helpful and very couteous. I love the location as I come from this area, the hotel has has style and history and one feels very safe and at home, thanks to the management and staff as well as the category of their guests. I enjoyed my stay to the maximum, with no complaints at all. The reception staff and room service are more than perfect by all means.
Review 128:the internet was slow with good signal, the info of the receptionist that he gave me and i spend 70 dollars for taxi without meaning. i cant remember his name but he is working at night shift.
Review 129:the bed was very comfortable, quiet neighborhood and very cleaned.
Review 130:I had requested a non-smoking room, but the room had a lingering smell of smoke the first couple of days until I opened the windows and aired it out. The decor is pretty outdated. The wi-fi wasn't reliable at all and had a lot of problems with connecting to it. The breakfast selection is pretty limited (toast, eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, fruit, croissants, cereal) and the pastry selection wasn't very good.
Review 131:The main thing this hotel had going for it was the location. The taxis in Beirut are expensive, which I didn't previously know. So, I was glad that I was staying in a hotel that I could walk to restaurants/cafes/shops/sights. There are taxis waiting outside the hotel at all times just in case you need to use one. For Beirut, perhaps this is an ok value, but I've been in better hotels for cheaper prices in other major cities.
Review 132:Breakfast is with limit choice.
Review 133:Breakfast and food in general was not good.
Review 134:Great location. Clean and comfortable rooms. Friendly staff.
Review 135:Very noisy that we couldn't sleep
Review 136:Wifi
