Reviews for Vis À Vis

Review 1:Overpowering smell from the drains in the bathroom. Could not use the shower as it was so bad. Maintenance poured some bleach at our request before going to bed. Suspect this was a one off but still it should have been picked up by the cleaning/maintenance team before our arrival. Slight discount offered.

Review 2:Helpful and friendly staff - lovely customer service. Great view!

Review 3:Triple rooms are amazingly small, with the view on the constructions... But was especially disappointing is food quality at dinner and at breakfast( chef uses a lot of frozen products, presentation is not pretty and some food arrived cold (namely pumpkin tortellini)... At breakfast, fruits are also mostly once frozen, rotten, pastry industrial... Very disappointing.

Review 4:The staff was really nice and friendly, the view from the restaurant is beautiful

Review 5:The rooms and furniture are somewhat dated and need a renovation.

Review 6:Fantastic location with an incredible view from the restaurant (what a way to enjoy your breakfast!) and rooftop terrace. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

Review 7:Dining room in hotel a bit pretentious and needs a bit more TLC when it comes to ambient music but food excellent, especially local dishes. Need to make a booking or else like us your likely to be seated directly behind a concrete post despite being a hotel guest.

Review 8:Friendly, efficient and helpful staff especially front desk. Quiet and unhurried despite hotel being full. Excellent food at hotels restaurant on nearby beach.

Review 9:Terrible bar service and do not order a margarhita or ask to remake. All he did was take the ice cubes out that weren't blended.

Review 10:Spectacular views. Beautiful pool. Great location.

Review 11:The main restaurant is past its sell by date and needs to be moved onto the rooftop!

Review 12:the views from the elevated position one struggles to describe -breathtaking doesn't cover it .

Review 13:The shower was very small and difficult to move around in as it was a corner stall.

Review 14:The staff was most accommodating when I checked in the room I got; someone had smoked in it and it was unbearable so they moved me immediately to a new room. It had a balcony, beautiful view and incredible soft towels. I mentioned that I wanted to go to the beach and they drove me there which was a beach they had privleges at. It was quiet, had chairs, umbrellas and lovely except that I had to pay 20 euros. I think they should make that complementary. The pool at the hotel was amazing and the view over all of Sestre Levante was breathtaking! Breakfast was excellent as was the restaurant although portions were small.

Review 15:Weird tunnel entrance with disco effect (ha-ha!) but you need to get through the mountain side somehow!

Review 16:We loved this hotel! This was our 8th trip to Italy and first time in Cinque Terre. We changed our travel plans from Sept. to August because of availability at this hotel. Our suite was fabulous. Marianna at front desk was charming!

Review 17:Amazing views and very helpful, attentive staff. Room was small but immaculate with very nice bathroom. Vintage, classic atmosphere with swing music in dining room; very stylish and elegant. great location within easy walk (using the lift or footpath) to the lovely little town of Sestri Levante, which has lots of restaurants and cafes to suit all budgets.

Review 18:Our rooms were close to the restaurant and very noisy when they had a 60's Friday night and when closing down the restaurant in general. The rooms are very small and the wifi in our rooms was non- existant.

Review 19:The pool area and closeness to the village center. Beautiful hotel with a fantastic view over the sea. Breakfast excellent.

Review 20:In the restaurant, I was handed a menu that includes prices, my female partner was given one without prices. Hello 19th century!

Review 21:Phantastic view, great pool, superb breakfast buffet, friendly staff. Certainly upscale.

Review 22:The bedrooms - we were in 208 which seemed to be quite small. In addition the bathroom was equally small and very much in need of refurbishment

Review 23:The views are exceptional. The property is a short walk to the centre of Sestri Levante. Staff very friendly.

Review 24:Loved the views from the room, restaurant, bar and pool (just gorgeous), the staff (truly gracious and professional, troppo gentile), the food (fresh, excellent), the service (impeccable, one and all)... loved it, we'll be back.

Review 25:Breakfast.

Review 26:Staff very nice. Lunch was terrific. Town spectacular. Breakfast was very disappointing. Just complete neglect. All in all I was impressed and would return.

Review 27:The view from the hotel is stunning and yet it is central with a 5 minute walk to the town .The staff were very helpful and friendly-nothing was too much trouble for them. The swimming pool is a good size, clean and sunloungers in sun and shade. The rooms and linen/towels were changed daily

Review 28:Nothing- we had a fantastic stay.

Review 29:the reception was very friendly and professional. My 9 year old some lived the pool. Breath taking views. Great location near cinque terre but not touristy. The breakfast buffet was great.

Review 30:Breakfast could be better, like fruits can be sweeter, freshly squeezed juice would be impressive. All staff are good, some are just a bit too serious!

Review 31:All reception staff are wonderful esp Cineia and the short hair with glasses, sorry forgot her name, gave us great instructions where and how to visit the Cinque Terra, where to eat. Accommodating all our requests. It is an expensive town of hotel accommodation in summer, so 250 euros, we get a reasonable sized room with a hugh terrace of good sea view, extrememly tranquil and relaxing. Two little fireflies visited our room at night, that was very special. Great view from Terrace and pool of course.

Review 32:Not so much a bad experience but the hotel is a little faded, the bathroom is 3 star not 4 star with shower curtains and old style fittings. The furnishings are also from another era and in need to upgrading. The entire hotel needs a little love and care to be honest and some investment in the structure and finishes. Staff at the breakfast were not very welcoming and a bit stiff. The breakfast was medium in terms of quality and assortment.

Review 33:The hotel looks over the picturesgue Sestri Levante and has many facilities that can be enjoyed by guests including the private swimming pool, open terrace and bar and relaxing areas. I have travelled to this area many times and this is is one of the unique hotels. The best part is the ease of access to the city and the privacy in what can be a very busy place in the season

Review 34:Our room was quite dark and dingy. Natural light blocked by the balcony above. Not well soundproofed.

Review 35:The hotel is in a fantastic location, the views are amazing. Staff were all welcoming and friendly. Rooms are a little old and tired but it's all about the location. Lovely pool area, plenty of sunlounges. Great breakfast in a room overlooking the bays.

Review 36:Great hotel, great location and real customer service. Every single person working in the hotel always went over and above the normal duty to ensure your stay was pleasurable. Will go back for sure.

Review 37:I'm sorry to say I did not like the pillows, awfully hard. The room was a little small, but worked well for one person.

Review 38:I loved the helpful staff, so pleasant, efficient, and ready be of aide. The breakfast was about as good a buffet style breakfast as I've ever had. The room was small but very well laid out and efficient, with lovely wood work. The bathroom was small but had very nice fixtures, and again was efficient. The view from the restaurant was a about as beautiful and engaging as one could imagine.

Review 39:Rooms were quite small but adequate and very clean.

Review 40:Incredible vistas of the sea and beaches. Easy walk to restaurants and train stations. Plus, the staff has prepared daily itineraries for Cinque Terra, Portofino, Santa Margarita, Camoglue etc including train and ferry information.

Review 41:The bathroom were very small and the shower nearly not useful if you were not the italian size

Review 42:The location is excellent and the view incredible, especially from the breakfast/dinner room

Review 43:This hotel is the best hotel we have stayed in during all of our travels. Every staff member of this hotel is warm and gracious. The dinning is first class with a chef that is 5 star.

Review 44:Bathroom far to small for a 4 star hotel. No coffee & tea in the room

Review 45:The views from the swimming pool bar and restaurant were spectacular. Warm friendly staff. Easy access to the town. Free parking

Review 46:There was nothing to dislike!

Review 47:The views from the restuarant /breakfast room are stunning. Great swiming pool with excellent views and a very comfortable room with its own garden space-tranquil! Reception staff were excellent. Hotel well located for the town.

Review 48:We have just returned from sestri levante and staying at this hotel was a great choice. The views from the breakfast room and bar are amazing (much better than going for something on the front as you can get a proper perspective) we had everything we needed and a quieter base to return to after visiting more touristy places like 5 terre and portofino.

Review 49:The rooms are not only small, which is to be expected to some extend on the coast, but they haven't been upgraded - including the bathroom - in years. The staff isn't all that friendly or helpful. It's typical coast area attitude but when on vacation it's a real irritant. Access to wi-fi is complicated and signal strength is very inconsistent.

Review 50:The location, looking right down at the old town of Sestri Levante and the bay of Silence is fantastic from the restaurant and top bar levels.

Review 51:We didn't find anything to complain about.

Review 52:We loved the location with it's commanding view of the surrounding area. The hotel was easy to locate and provided adequate parking facility. We liked the fact that the hotel was within walking distance of the town.

Review 53:Rooms are reasonable but not four star. Food is definitely not four star.

Review 54:Views from restaurant, bar, and pool were spectacular. Staff were excellent. Many aspects of hotel are first class, a few are not.

Review 55:Air Conditioning aimed directly at the bed. From time to time the sewer smell on the balcony because the toilet valve was directly on the balcony. Only Italian TV channels. Not even the news channels in other languages.

Review 56:A great location and views. Comfortable clean and functional swimming pool area. Great friendly staff. Completely clean over the place. Great restaurant panoramas with a good breakfast.

Review 57:The rooms are rather small, however they are designed deliberately so. The hotel is shaped like a cruise ship and so the rooms are similar to cabin sizes. However, the balconies are huge and we had great views from ours.

Review 58:We arrived at Vis a Vis and didn't know what to expect as you cannot really see what the hotel looks like from the front (it is set on a hill). We went up the lift to get to reception and were greeted by very friendly staff who did a tour for us around the hotel. She took us to the panoramic bar at the top of the hotel where the pool is and wow the views were breathtaking! Possibly the best views we have ever seen looking over two beaches. The bar is a wonderful place to have lunch due to its surroundings. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant which overlooks the views also which made for a very pleasant evening. The following night we went into the town and had dinner on the beach which was beautiful. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and the atmosphere was very nice. You can drive or get a boat to Santa Margarita or Portofino. Both are beautiful places to visit. Portofino is quite small but well worth a visit. We will definitely be coming back in the near future.

Review 59:Our room was very small and the shower was awful very small had pillar in shower Bathroom too small for 3 people .rooms with partial sea views were too small . Wasn't good value for what we paid .

Review 60:Good views Pool is excellent Good location to town

Review 61:Had a great stay at Vis a Vis. Of course the views are amazing but most importantly is we had our 70 lb. labrador puppy with us that they allowed us to have and provided with a perfect room with a small garden for him. They were very accepting despite the puppy is well... a puppy... The food, staff and location is fantastic. Thank you!

Review 62:Bedroom was small with a limited view but there pleased we were on the 2nd floor as the views from the first floor were nil. There was also a wedding one evening and we were unable to access the roof terrace or the bar because of this.

Review 63:Great views from the pool terrace and dining areas.Great breakfast and reasonably priced snacks. Ease of accessibility into Sestri Levante. Helpful staff. Use of a lift to street level.

Review 64:The bedrooms and restaurant could do with a bit of updating.

Review 65:The location and view are excellent. The pool area is very modern and the service around the pool is excellent. Reception staff were also very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and things to do.

Review 66:Difficult to find by car - even with SatNav.

Review 67:Very friendly wellcome. Fantastic view. Fantastic room with 2 balconies and very comfortable beds. Great breakfast. Lift down to the center of town.

Review 68:Absolutely nothing! Everything was perfect!

Review 69:This is an elegant hotel without being overstated. The hotel caters to both couples and families alike. The views from the restaurant, bar/terrace, pool and rooms are outstanding! The staff is attentive and friendly. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the proximity to the village can't be beat.

Review 70:Walk into centre from hotel not particularly pleasant Some Reception staff rather 'americanised'

Review 71:Views from hotel were stunning Lovely breakfasts and immaculately clean hotel with better than usual sized rooms for Italian hotels - regardless of what other reviews might say!

Review 72:The room was very small, the bathroom had an over sized basin and a minture shower.

Review 73:The service and the view from the bar / restaurant

Review 74:The perfect view and facilities at the 5 th floor. Also the beach restaurant near the small bay, which is owned by the hotel

Review 75:View from the rooftop bar

Review 76:Location, amazing view from roof bar, swimming pool surrounded by pine trees, great service

Review 77:Very small room for 3. To get onto wifi should be much easier! Too expensive.

Review 78:magnificent view ! Delicious breakfast.

Review 79:What is up with the morning scrambled eggs? Bed was a little hard.

Review 80:Great location, views, most of the food staff very helpful.

Review 81:Really terrible music piped in the dining areas, staff obsequious rather than discreet

Review 82:Good food, good pool, good views

Review 83:The pool was fabulous, the room was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 84:Standard room too small

Review 85:Nice location, very good service, very helpful staff

Review 86:Beautyful Landscape Top Service

Review 87:Our first room allocated was extremely tired in need of much renovation. Allocated another room, was just ok, very small.

Review 88:Situation very good.

Review 89:Room smelt of cigarette smoke when we arrived

Review 90:The views! The breakfast! Location! Friendly staff

Review 91:Views, friendly staff, breakfast, pool - everything

Review 92:Room very small. Wifi didn't work very well.

Review 93:Wonderful views of the water and town. Close to everything.

Review 94:The friendliness of the staff, location & value for money

Review 95:noisy room kitchen staff noisy outside our room

Review 96:breakfasts location pool and dining areas staff

Review 97:bathrooms could be updated

Review 98:extremely courteous and helpful staff, wonderful views, good value for money

Review 99:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful., in particular, the reception staff and maitre d' at the restaurant.

Review 100:Train to cinque terre takes an hour. If you have a car parking is difficult on property but offered!

Review 101:Nothing

Review 102:Great view from the hotel, attentive stuff, big terrace in my room with two sunbeds, free parking and wi-fi. Everything was great!

Review 103:swimming pool :)

Review 104:Huge balcony in all rooms. Very nice pool area. Staff is extremly helpfull and nice!

Review 105:lovely location with awesome views. Great service and very friendly staff. Made our stay very special!!

Review 106:Rooms are uncomfortably small and expensive for the size of the accommodation.

Review 107:Friendly and helpful staff. Good location in Sestri Levante

Review 108:The bathroom is very tiny

Review 109:Rooms were adequate, our first room did not have efficient air conditioning, but we were moved to a room that did. I think for a 4 star hotel, you would not have to pay extra for cooked eggs/omlettes for breakfast.

Review 110:The hotel was in an excellent position being within walking distance of the town and beach with excellent staff who had good knowledge of everything from restaurants to travel arrangements,

Review 111:Not enough wifi signal strength in enough areas . It would be far better to be able to have wifi in rooms. It's very important to me.

Review 112:The staff were truly wonderful in every way and the service very good.

Review 113:Rooms OK but bedroom and bathroom could have been a little larger.

Review 114:Friendliness. The terrific view and location. Breakfast and dinner/restaurant. All public facilities. Room with view and patio.

Review 115:We found this gem of a hotel by chance stunning views from the restaurant and terrace bar. The lift and tunnel that take you down to Sestri save legs immensely. Hence the views. Service very good staff very helpful.

Review 116:Size of the bathroom is really small especially the shower cabin you hardly can move there and its impossible to soap yourself without turning off the water. Maybe, its depends on the room.

Review 117:The view from the restaurant and bar terrace is absolutely fabulous. The swimming pool looks charming as well. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Review 118:Excellent property with fabulous view. Staff was professional, well trained, organized and attentive. We were given a tour on arrival. Assistance with luggage was prompt. Booking.com hotels tend to be overrated. At 3 stars this one was actually underrated...closer to 5... In our tour of Italy this was easily the most appealing, pleasantly memorable and enjoyable hotel we encountered.

Review 119:Service and food in the dining room was fair. Wi-fi in the room wasn't available when we were there.

Review 120:The location, the views, the front desk staff, cleanliness of rooms and the open air bar was magnificient! We will come back!

Review 121:Couldn't borrow a pool towel to take with us on our boat ride. Wifi poor, but they said an upgrade is planned soon.

Review 122:Awesome location and breathtaking views! Staff very helpful with travel planning. Stay here as your home base for seeing Cinque Terre. So convenient.

Review 123:Great position with fantastic views, particularly from the top floor Restaurant and breakfast room. It must be the highest spot in Sestri Levante

Review 124:Rooms were small for the price we paid Smallest shower I've ever seen in a hotel bathroom. Very uncomfortable to use and I am quite petite, most average sized adults would struggle to use. We were on honeymoon but no extra effort was made to make our stay speacial like in the other hotels we stayed at.

Review 125:Location Breakfast Swimming Pool Panoramic rooftop bar

Review 126:garden room was noisy next to kitchen area beds and pillows hard as rocks with no extra spare soft pillow option supplied in room as would expect in 4 star hotel so would not stay here again unless this improved. but rest of hotel and staff excellent.

Review 127:staff and location were great, roof top terrace views fantastic
