Rooms at the Locanda feature 4-poster wrought-iron beds, and are decorated in a typical Ligurian style. During summer breakfast is served in the large grounds, with Mediterranean plants, vineyards and olive groves.

Reviews for Locanda Del Borgo

Review 1:Set menu for those with half board - if you didnt like fish for example yo could necessarily eat. "Free" WIFI in the rooms was poor - signal terrible requiring continual resetting

Review 2:Rooms were clean.

Review 3:This a lovely homely hotel. The rooms are large and very comfortable. Its a very short walk to the railway station so if you are visiting the Cinque Terre towns, as we were, its ideal. The little town of Riva Trigoso is about 15-20 mins walk away and it has a good selection of bars and restaurants. Though the hotel also has its own restaurants too.I would be happy to stay here again.

Review 4:Mosquitoes!!!! Pillows are a bit too thin. Could provide more soap/shower gels etc. Riva trigoso is not a particularly pretty village and trains to better destinations such as Sestri or Moneglia are not that frequent.

Review 5:Lovely dinner and kind host. Nice sunny garden. The room was decently sized and fairly clean; plus it had A/C and a fan which kept us cool in the blazing heat. Bikes provided for free!

Review 6:Hotel proprietor was miserable and anti social. The room was sparce, out dated and like living in a prison cell. The view from the room was of an industrial area too far from the centre and nothing like the advert for it portrayed. The hot tub and sauna were a joke as they were away from the hotel in an unkempt garden, even ashtrays at the tables had cigarette butts in them that were clearly a few days old. The car park was far to steep and caused damage to the underside of my car. We could not wait to leave and in fact stayed only one night when we had originall booked for three ! I would not advise anyone to stay there.

Review 7:Absolutely nothing

Review 8:Nothing

Review 9:The room decorated in a clasic style, the staff is very friendly and helpfull. There is also a restaurant in the vila and the food is amazing, with a variety of local dishes. There are also bycicles available at no cost. Parking is available at no cost.

Review 10:The place needs cleaning, especially showers

Review 11:great food in the restaurant and good breakfast with fresh pastries , not far from the train station(but up the hill), excellent staff, free bikes, garden near the room and I could continue :)

Review 12:Large comfortable room - for three adults there was plenty of room and even a small balcony . Good breakfast. Excellent assistance and recommendations from the staff. Train station close by (but limited stops).

Review 13:Nothing special to say

Review 14:This is a wonderful place to stay. Breakfast was good and the service was top notch. The room was spacious and very pleasant. I especially liked using the sauna to rejuvenate from traveling.

Review 15:Nothing.

Review 16:It had character, was in the perfect location to take the train to Cinque Terre, and the food was divine. It was very reasonably priced and the owner was really helpful. I liked the 14 ft ceilings in the rooms and the paint and decor colors. It was really relaxing.

Review 17:Initially it seemed that the hotel's location in Riva Trigoso rather than Sestri Levante would be a problem. However, this was not the case. In fact. Riva Trigoso is a very pleasant town in its own right, is only five minutes from Sestri by train and has much better beaches with clean and clear water perfect for swimming. The day after we visited the beach at Sestri Levante, my son spent the morning suffering from ear ache; something that never happened after spending time at the local beach in Riva Trigoso, which we did every day. We had the best of both worlds: easy access to Sestri, with all of its many charms, but a cheaper, more homely base in Riva Trigoso. The staff at the hotel were unfailingly pleasant, courteous and helpful. The hotel also possesses an excellent restaurant serving local produce of the highest quality.

Review 18:Can't think of anything I didn't like or hadn't expected.

Review 19:The hotel is small in an interesting building with very high ceilings, which we loved. The young man in charge of the reception and restaurant the four nights we stayed was helpful, friendly and efficient.

Review 20:Although it is close to Riva Station it was initially difficult to locate as we got off the train at Sestri Levante, some three or four km away. A taxi is required. As not all trains stop at Riva station, check timetables. The walk from Riva station is steep and has many steps.

Review 21:Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Wonderful dinner menu and wines. Good clean and well appointed large room with private safe and wifi included. A quiet, delightful location which we would certainly enjoy staying at again.

Review 22:It was a second time that we stayed it this hotel and we really liked it. It was great to have a little garden with umbrella, chairs and grapes all around. Even when the weather was not nice, we always knew that we had a sauna back in the hotel :-) The room was very comfortable, clean and relatively large, with clima and fridge. If you go there, do not miss the restaurant (Taverna) at the hotel! The food was excellent, delicious! We did not like the local wines in the shops untill we tried one in that restaurant...and the owner gave really good tips from food to places to see.

Review 23:We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The location is perfect for bothbeach and mountains, very quite and peaceful place. We have received allinformation about surroundings, transportation, good advices for tripplanning every day! The room was comfortable, large and clean, withclima and fridge. In the evening, we could seat outside in a smallgarden surrounded by grapes, have glas of wine with local cheese :-) Ifwe go to Genova again, we stay in this hotel.

Review 24:In the mail from booking.com confirming our reservation, it was stated that our room had a private garden. Upon arrival this was not the case. The owner explained this with a translation problem at booking.com. The room we got was away from the street, though, so it was not too noisy. However, the air conditioning unit was not really cooling the room down, and opening the window let the insects in. It turned out that we could not get the room with the garden the following day, so we decided to move to another hotel in a more remote location. The next morning the owner offered us the room for free since we were not happy. I would advice travellers to call the hotel and confirm with the management that you get exactly what is promised at the time of booking. The owner speaks very good English, so communication is no problem. There is a big shipyard or something like that down the hill that partially destroys the otherwise nice view, but this we knew already before booking, so this is nothing to complain about, really. If one wants a central location one cannot expect a perfect view, except if you go for a 4 or 5-star hotel at three to five times the price.

Review 25:At arrival we were given good information about how to visit Cinque Terre. I guess this is the main reason why people stay at this hotel. The hotel was easy to find when you arrive by car, and there were good parking facilities, although the exit from the property onto the road is a bit dangerous, being in a curve. Breakfast was quite good, although the juice was this out-of-the-box sweet thing without taste. It would have been nice with home-pressed orange juice, for example. But this is because we have home-made orange juice every day at home, and once you are used to that, everything else is just "undrinkable". ;-) The location of the hotel is ideal for visiting the Ligurian coast between Genova and La Spezia. There you have famous places like Portofino, Cinque Terre and Portovenere. The train station "Riva Trigoso" is just a short walk away, and one can catch the train that serves most of the interesting places along the coast. Or one can take the car and go to all these nice places in a reasonable amount of time.

Review 26:We stayed here 2 nights to hike Cinque Terre and enjoyed the location, convenient to the Riva Ligoso train station. Helpful staff, clean rooms and good breakfast. Free parking and very short walk to the train. Decent view from our room as well.

Review 27:Poor breakfast ...

Review 28:Good and friendly staff. Good at giving advice on excursions in the area. Nice room with balcony.

Review 29:The young man who runs the place was very helpful and efficient. The place has provided quick access to Riva Station using a short cut.

Review 30:the shower was a bit shabby

Review 31:we loved the comfort of the large room and the big bathroom. Great value for money.

Review 32:Friendly hosts, clean lovely room, ample yummy breakfast, close to train station which takes you to Cinque Terre. All in all just beautiful.

Review 33:Jacuzzi hot tub, garden

The Fine Print

Please note the hot tub is available between 15 April and 15 October.
