Reviews for Mormoraia

Review 1:The room was renovated, nice decored and big enough. t has a nice view of town San Gimignano. The stuff was also very kind, smiling and helpful. I defietely recommedn this place.

Review 2:Loved everything!

Review 3:The FABULOUS location and TERRIFIC staff! Made you feel like family. Everywhere you turned on the property was a "picture postcard!" The town of San Gimignano far exceeded our expectations. Although we traveled to other locations during our stay, it was one of our favorites.

Review 4:The breakfast and room were both amazing. Our room included beautiful views of San Gimignano and was beautifully decorated. Each day we enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

Review 5:Unfortunately the standard of food did not live up to the standard of the surroundings, we even saw a number of other guests retrun dishes at dinner. Recommend eating out in the town nearby.

Review 6:Great location, and the rooms were amazing! The views of San Gimmy were just fantastic from where we stayed. The service was good and our waitress was always very kind and looked after us.

Review 7:The dinner portions were a bit small for the price paid

Review 8:The place is absolutely stunning!! Not that far away from San Gimignano and a beautiful view of Tuscan landscape and San Gimignano. staff were really friendly.

Review 9:Some of the rooms are old and not yet been renewed, they gave us an old room with old bathroom but we request another and they replaced it with lovely countryside room . Only the water in the bathroom was so slow

Review 10:Amazing landscape with beautiful view to San Gimignano, lovely place ,nice room and friendly staff , we realy had a wonderful time .

Review 11:We were in our honeymoon trip, the place is very romantic and the landscape is beautiful. The staff is very Kind and polite. The restaurant is amazing, the food was very tasty and excellent service.

Review 12:It is simply a wonderful, comfortable agriturismo/hotel in an idyllic countryside setting in rolling vineyards a few miles outside of San Gimignano. Facility, room, staff, service and restaurant all excellent. My only regret was that I only could stay one night.

Review 13:We had a very spacious and lovely attic room, except for the ancient tub shower. That was indeed a very wet challenge, inside and out.

Review 14:This is a lovely property that is beautifully maintained, inside and throughout the lushly planted grounds. And the food is wonderful, especially the complimentary breakfast and the slightly pricey evening restaurant. And the staff if VERY friendly and helpful, even going so far as to try to turn off the annoying radio in my rental car (Volvo).

Review 15:Breakfast buffet could be improved and so the not so comfortable chairs at the restaurant. We had breakfast and dinner and my impression was that the food could be improved.

Review 16:Great location, friendly and helpful staff, good size room with nice decor.

Review 17:We took the last available room which was actually a full apartment. That in itself was fine, but they should have treated it like a reg room and cleaned/rechecked the room each day. Twice we had to go ask for basics like toilet paper and clean towels. And the worst part was the main bed was awful. It was very uncomfortable and we actually think it had broken springs in a few places. Otherwise the site was beautiful, good food & drink, staff were all very nice.

Review 18:Absolutely perfect! This place should be the poster child for the Tuscany chamber of commerce. Beautiful views, relaxing, best food we had anywhere in Italy. Friendly staff, able to communicate in English. San Gimignano in the distance on a hill beyond the vineyards. Excellent wine produced right there.

Review 19:Food was not the best

Review 20:The location was beautiful. The farm is very well taking care off with a view of St Gimigniano. The staff was helpful. Easy to find. Clean, lots of parking.

Review 21:We were very very disapointed with the dinner at the Mormoraia. Dinner was not worth to be called neither Tuscan nor Italian! There is no sound isolation between rooms and the sauna is so noisy that is really very disturbing.

Review 22:The location is amazing. We had the best room with the front view of San Giminiano. Breathtaking!

Review 23:Would have liked the poor to be heated. The food in the evening could have been better. Breakfast and the Anti pasta was excellent

Review 24:Beautiful setting. Lovely friendly staff. Very clean.

Review 25:There was no bad experience. The Wifi does not work well... so plan to unplug!

Review 26:Its a beautiful retreat in the Tuscan countryside. We loved everything about it and plan to return! Very close to the charming town of San Gimiano. Thye have an amazing pool and we recommend dinner on the property. Delicious! There are not a lot of other places to have dinner. You are out in the country. The wine is excellent.

Review 27:Amazing attention to detail except for pillows which were either like bouncy balloons or hard foam rubber slabs.

Review 28:The view of San Gimignano was unparalleled.

Review 29:The opening hours in spa should be longer. We missed it. We thought we would have a bath in room for superoir price.

Review 30:This place is so beautiful. Great for making trips to Volterra, San Gimignano, Siena, Florence, ... We loved the breakfast, the view. Free parking is also nice benefit.

Review 31:Don't go there to eat the kitchen is terrible, like worst restaurant ever. Otherwise super place, neat, calm, luxurious! The thing is that is a bit far from a city so it is tempting to eat at the restaurant because the location is so nice and it is so expensive and it looks so wealthy. But they don't have an italian staff or italian kitchen at all, I don't remember in my life having a restaurant meal that ordinary. Antipasto and wine and breakfast pretty ok thought.

Review 32:Great views, very comfortable rooms and very welcoming staff. The restaurant serves good local dishes and their wines are both excellent and excellent value. Top marks.

Review 33:The food was good but would have liked a little more to choose from at breakfast.

Review 34:The friendly helpful staff. The waiting and cleaning staff were happy and polite. The hotel was kept in top condition from cleanliness to the fresh decorating. The views were special from every angle. Always easy to park.

Review 35:The prices of the food were a little high especially as the portions were quite small.

Review 36:Mormoraia is situated in the most stunning location with fantastic views of beautiful Tuscan scenery and San Gimignano. Having dinner in the lovely restaurant and terrace with these views was delightful. The accommodation was beautiful, clean and comfortable and I would have liked to have stayed longer.

Review 37:Property more suited to short stay rather than the 8 days we stayed as their are no common comfortable lounge areas (beyond the pool) or formal bar for the evening and the bedrooms are too small to relax in (no casual chairs) and the property is remote so no where to walk to.

Review 38:Staff friendly & helpful and property had excellent views all around. Pool was the cleanest we have ever seen!

Review 39:Unbelievable views. As our friends who were traveling with us said, "you really hit a home run with this place". Very friendly staff and very seldom does a place exceed your expectations in terms of how you visualize it to be from the photos, but I have to say, it was better than we expected. The quintessential Tuscan experience in a romantic setting amidst a real working vineyard.

Review 40:We booked through Booking.com, the advertisement was deceiving. We reserved the room based on the pictures posted on-line. However, we ended up staying above the kitchen in a 2 bedroom apartment, which resembled an employee quarters, not the quality we expected. Old furniture, outdated bathroom, poor mattresses, poor lighting and no air conditioning in the second bedroom, nothing like the photo's shown when we booked. Upon mentioning our disappointment the next morning, they admitted that others had the same opinion of the room, a true failure of customer care. We would have never booked the resort if we new up front what they offered.

Review 41:The location and staff excellent

Review 42:It was so hot and it would have been lovely to have a couple of cocktails by the pool but there wasn't really anything available.

Review 43:Stunning location. Very clean and well kept. Beautiful pool. Just down the road from San Gimignano. Very friendly staff.

Review 44:Everyone who works there treat you like family. The vineyard and the hills are better than I could imagine. Rooms were top quality linens furniture just everything was super. Pool was very refreshing and youre on top of a hill. Views are spectacular

Review 45:Although the food at dinner was okay, we felt that the prices were incredibly high considering the standard. We recognise that you pay a premium for the location, but we have eaten better for half the price elsewhere (we are frequent travellers in Italy as we have family there). A very basic sharing platter to start (toast with a few types of tapenade), a bottle of wine, two secondi (one of which was 4 slices of roast beef with no accompaniments at all) and one tiramisu to share came to over 85 euros! We would go back, but would definitely find somewhere cheaper to eat - it was a shame to feel slightly ripped off when everything else about the stay was perfect.

Review 46:The room was beautiful, with an awesome shower. The pool area was lovely, as well as the terrace for dinner.

Review 47:Old apartment ( kitchen not properly equipped, old furniture, no terras), it felt more as a club hotel, not as an agriturismo ( too commercial)

Review 48:Beautiful view, nice garden and pool,

Review 49:WiFi is not really existent. I was traveling with two teenagers (boys) that were bored. This place is not good for teenagers, it is a "spa" like place where they don't tolerate noise (laughter, playing, etc.)... with the poor connection to WiFi, I couldn't stay for the second day I had booked and I had to pay for the two days regardless. The promotion of this place is misleading.

Review 50:B-B-Q was expensive for what is was, and you did not get enough food, the quality of the meat and Chicken was not good

Review 51:The Location was "just what is said on the tin"

Review 52:The room was not cleaned properly. The breakfast should have more healthy options. The dinner overpriced and boring. No playground for children.

Review 53:The property was very beautiful. The pool area was great The staff friendly The view magnificent Short distance to San Gimignano

Review 54:The restaurant is okay, a little overpriced with limited selection and variable quality.

Review 55:We enjoyed the beautiful setting and view. The pool and grounds were excellent. The room was also very nice, and so is the wine.

Review 56:Wifi was patchy. No-one available to help with luggage up steps, into car etc.

Review 57:It is the most beautiful property I have ever stayed in. The buildings and views are stunning. It is in a remote, quiet area away from hustle and bustle (so you need a car!). Grounds and rooms are immaculate.

Review 58:late breakfast that does not allow for early departure! Very simple dinner offer, unfriendly reception service, airco problem remained unsolved in 2nd room for child

Review 59:relatively new infrastructure

Review 60:The food and service was amateurish, and overpriced compared to the restaurants in San Gimignano. The main waitress was overworked and the young guy helping her got most things wrong - hot milk poured over breakfast cereals, pasta with peppers not pepperoni as advertised, BBQ meats served c20 minutes before the salad arrived. The wine tour was underwhelming as little more than a description of how the bottling machine works.

Review 61:Great location, relaxed atmosphere and nice mix of nationalities

Review 62:Las habitaciones pueden resultar algo pequeñas (teniendo en cuenta donde está ubicado cabría esperar más espacio). Nos esperábamos más de la cena. Deberían apostar por auténtica cocina toscana.

Review 63:La piscina. Las vistas. La calidad de las camas.

Review 64:The internet is slowish, but it gave me a good excuse to close my computer and walk around the grounds instead.

Review 65:The surroundings are absolutely perfect. It's hard to not just sit at the poolside and watch the colors of the Tuscan hillsides change over the course of the day. Happily we forced ourselves to leave and had a fantastic three hour walk on the nearby Via Francigena, an old pilgrimage route. Mormoraia is designed for relaxation, with comfortable rooms that keep noise and light securely out.

Review 66:The evening meals have little choice and tend to be a bit formulaic and not especially good value although they are nicely presented and good food.

Review 67:Friendly staff, and bedrooms of high standard, lovely pool, quiet and fairly private space to sunbathe outside of room.

Review 68:The food was good, but compared with other hotels rather expensive for the standard provided.

Review 69:We stayed at Mormoraia for three nights, our room had a fabulous, direct view across the lovely Tuscan countryside to San Gimignano. We enjoyed the wine tasting and the facilities, including the pool were excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 70:The wifi did not work well . Mosquitos loves me here;)

Review 71:This place is stunning and the view of San gimignano is impossible to explain. It's like a 3d picture. The staff was amazing and giuseppina and Elena were helpful . We had an issue getting to hotel , no taxi was arranged , so ask in advance and try and let them know arrival time Francesca , Gilberto , maddalena( so sweet) stefano and Monica were the best part also. The food was amazing and it was the best food i had in italy. The wild boar pasta is unbelievable. The pool is great and you can sit all day and just relax.

Review 72:Everything was excellent.

Review 73:My wife and I stayed at Mormoraia for 5 nights during our honeymoon in Tuscany. The place was truly charming, set in beautiful Tuscan countryside with plenty of rustic charm. The facilities were good, rooms very comfortable and the staff were really friendly.

Review 74:A beautiful setting with very friendly staff and other guests. Wine tasting was terrific! Pool looked fantastic but our visit was short so no time to enjoy.

Review 75:Everything regarding this property was excellent. Room is big with comfortable bed. Breakfast is excellent, you have home made cakes, bread, ham and cheese. Lunch and dinner was very nice. Mormoraia wines are very nice. The view from the property is enchanting. Staff are very friendly.

Review 76:Our apartment was a bit dark/cold and wifi was spotty but you don't come to Tuscany to sit in your room on wifi.

Review 77:Beautiful setting, nice staff and great food.

Review 78:Although we enjoyed our stay overall, we thought it was very expensive for what it was, especially if you choose to eat at the property. Both the quality of the food and the staff were nice, but the price absolutely exhorbitant. I would recommend going into San Gimigniano to eat instead.

Review 79:We loved how friendly this place was, and the beautiful location; the swimming-pool was very nice; our room had a comfortable bed. The towels were changed regularly, wchich we liked.

Review 80:We liked everything.

Review 81:We had a promotional rate for a two bedroom apartment in a mideavil convent in Tuscany. WOW! It was lovely. We had dinner also Great home cooked fresh food. Loved the experience.

Review 82:Spotty internet--manager gave us her password to use management internet which helped. Beautiful grounds, but not much soundproofing in the rooms.

Review 83:Beautiful pool-cold but relaxing. Great wines. Friendly staff. Nice spot to unwind after facing the challenge of Italy's roads with a GPS.

Review 84:The room was a bit small with a small window ...felt too tiny..no relaxing spot just the bed and bathroom in room

Review 85:Location and beauty of the property were outstanding

Review 86:Wifi is slow and doesn't cover all the area of the hotel. But in such kind of place you don't need internet

Review 87:Beautiful view, clean rooms, good food. Of course you need a car to get there.

Review 88:The room was on the small side but still OK size wise and very nicely decorated.

Review 89:The staff, in particular the woman in charge of the restaurant, was incredibly warm and friendly. The surroundings and the views are spectacular, the farmhouse beautifully restored.

Review 90:There was nothing not to like.

Review 91:We liked the staff, the cleanliness, great breakfast and dinners and the fantastic views of the vineyard and San Gimignano.

Review 92:Rooms not like photos on web. Did not have hot water for shower all the time. Hear plumbing from other rooms during night and early mornings.

Review 93:Lovely grounds and great view over San Gimignano. Nice wines.

Review 94:Nothing

Review 95:This property is a dream. From here you have a great view of San Gimignano and surroundings, very picturesque (classic scenery of Tuscany). We were greet by Elena, which was very helpful and presented us the resort. The room was excellent, quiet, with all what you would expect from a 4 start hotel. Swimming pool was open, so we could also enjoy it. Dinner at their restaurant was exquisite, but the best was their wines. You should try the Mormoraia wines definitely. Also the waiter Allesandro was very friendly, a very nice person, as all from the Mormoraia are. Also congratulations to the lady chef. We would definitely return here, but next time a longer stay.

Review 96:It was the little things that made us feel bad about spending 160€ / night: - gardeners with loud mowers, leaf blower and other electric machinery during the whole day, no chance to relax - comfy outdoor chairs only for 2 high prices rooms, the other rooms had to sit on hard wooden benches with no pillows (maybe that will change during high season) - the dinner was pricey and pretty plain (but they managed to do a vegetarian menu) - no hide-aways on the property - the second person to shower had cold water - the rooms were all very bad Sound-Proof, you could hear the neighbours walking and using the bathroom in all details - 7€ for a beer...

Review 97:The Mormoraia is a really pretty place but a bit too artificial. There was no wild plant or any withered leaf. But for some it's important ;) The staff was great! We complaint about the first room they gave us because there was a family with a toddler living on top of us which was pretty loud - they gave us a room on top of the hill which was nice, the next two days we stayed in another room on the hill. The inventory and bathroom was pretty and big. The breakfast was good but the bread not the best, only two kinds (white and toast). They made homemade omelettes. Weird was that they didn't had a normal Italian coffee mashing, the coffee came from pads. But it was good anyways. And the staff was great, very welcoming and in a good mood! The view and location was brilliant! The houses really looked polished and it was only 6 km to San Gimignano.

Review 98:That we had to leave our comfortable cozy place and go home.

Review 99:We loved all of Mormoraia employees who catered to our every need. They all made us feel very welcome and at home. Very clean and the food was wccellent!

Review 100:absolutely perfect. Elena and Josephine were wonderful, the setting couldn't be more beautiful, breakfast was excellent, and the accommodations were clean, comfortable, and quaint. We enjoyed the pool, the wine tour and tasting, and the easy drive into San Germignano as well as the smaller, less touristy town of Certaldo. Exactly what you picture when you think of Tuscany!

Review 101:The staff could not have done more to be welcoming and helpful during our six night stay. They were friendly and informative and helped us make the most of our time. Breakfast and dinner are certainly times we will remember with great affection, and it was a great place to return to at the end of a sightseeing day. A very easygoing place to stay.

Review 102:everything! Josephina the hostest was lovely and welcoming. she treated us with tender care, recomendig lots places to visit or to eat all over Tuscany. Dont miss the wine tour & tastig with her! The place is amazing, isolated with great view. breakfast was delicious made by charming Franchesca. we had the perfect vacation!

Review 103:Not a thing!!!! It was a great experience.

Review 104:The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The views were spectacular. The facilities were excellent. The food was superb. And the wine tour is a 'must' to do!!

Review 105:Wi-Fi is not very stable.

Review 106:It's cozy, relaxing and lovely place to stay. Landscape at the hotel is great to enjoy Tuscany views. The staffs are nice.Breakfast is good. Close to San Gimignano (about 10 minutes by car).

Review 107:The internet was really poor, if you try to use internet just know that it will take you ages to download and forget it at the room. We had yo leave 2 nights earlier and they did not refund any of the the 2 nights even with the notice in advance. An indoor lounge would be great to sit and read or use the internet to plan your excursions...

Review 108:The views are amazing. You are inmerse in the midle of Tuscany countryside, overlooking San Gimignano. Staff was very nice...facilities are in general good, few things missing. Great location to visit Volterra, san Gimigano, Siena, Cortona, Montepulciano, Monterrigioni.

Review 109:We loved the food, wine and olive oil. I would go with the upgraded room location next time. Mimosa wasn't as quiet as we prefer. We loved the wine tasting opportunity.

Review 110:Overall everything was great, perhaps the matrasses could have been more comfortable, it creaked if you turned over, we cold hear guests talking in the next room, so sound insulation not good in our room.

Review 111:Friendly and helpfull staff , especially Francesca and Josephine. Alfresco dining area. Fantastic modern/ pristine pool. secluded location but handy for local attractions.

Review 112:Wi-fi connection was not the best

Review 113:The location is amazing, we had a great time. If you dream of a stay at the country this is the best place to go. Staff was really friendly, the amenities were more than we had expected.

Review 114:Staff was so kind in accommodating our each and every request, whetherit was a loaf of bread to eat by the pool, accommodating a wine tourjust for us around our schedule, even being a translator for us while welooked for a prescription in San Gimignano. They made the beautifullocation and accommodation feel above and beyond. What an amazing place. This was our favorite stop on our 3 week european vacation!

Review 115:Some spiderweb was seen under the tall roof inside the room. Wifi a bit unstable, but the time was then used for reading a book outside.

Review 116:Location, the nature, the staff, the homemade cakes for breakfast, the pool, the goats that were beyond thrilled if you scratched them behind the ears... The whole place is like taken out of a movie! We felt welcome and wished we could stay longer! The best stop during the vacation. Æ

Review 117:Mormoraia is perfect location as long as you have a car which is simply a warning to any prospective guests who want to stay near San Gimignano without their own transport. Only niggle we had was that they ran out of coffee sachets for the room on day 2 of our stay and were not able to replenish in the 5 days we were there. Not serious though... just a niggle!

Review 118:Beautiful place to stay for a Tuscan break. Breath taking and panoramic views of the countryside both from the general and private spaces. Good location for day trips around Tuscany and close enough to San Gimignano for dinner options if necessary. Food at Mormiraia is good both for breakfast and dinner. Wines are enjoyable as well! Very friendly and accommodating staff who make one feel at home and relaxed in this peaceful and beautiful location. Highly recommended....

Review 119:Not a place that I would go to for a home base for Florence or any other town that is 30 min away. Florence CENTER is over an hour a way. Hard to find. Take a phone with phone number to the hotel. Book for one night and if you decide to stay re-book.

Review 120:The grounds were lovely. Countryside, rolling hills were beautiful. Great for a couples weekend and staying put. Good wine.

Review 121:Pool was still open in September but a bit chilly. A hot tub would have been a nice addition. Nothing to really complain about.

Review 122:Beautiful view of San Giamangiano. Breakfast was bountiful and held in gorgeous setting. Room was very comfortable - small patio outside room perfect way to enjoy the wine produced on-site. Free bikes for use. Staff was beyond friendly and accomodating.

Review 123:Wifi was really poor. Accomodation is a bit overpriced (but hey, the stunning view on San Gimignano makes it worthwhile).

Review 124:Location, view and pool were excellent. Breakfast was ok.

Review 125:The rooms could be a lot cleaner!!! Bed is uncomfortable. Dinner at restaurant was not that good! With a little fine tuning this place could be a 9.8!

Review 126:The location is amazing. Beautiful views and accomodations. Breakfast and lunch at the restaurant was great.

Review 127:Perhaps breakfast could have a few more options??

Review 128:Overall physical beauty of the sprawling vineyards and olive fields. Accomodations were perfect, and staff came daily to tidy up the room. There was plenty of options for private space for alone time & relaxing and also for areas of enjoyment-- pool, etc. Liked the dining options as far as where you would be most comfortable, inside, outside. The staff was exceptional in so many ways, and it was evident they wanted to keep everyone happy and comfortable.

Review 129:We booked a two bed with another couple. It was Really only a Proper 1 bed. The other room had two single cots and no air conditioning. Very small and stuffy. The unit was over the kitchen so a little noisy and the furniture all looked like cast offs. Called Alloro and please avoid.

Review 130:Unbelievably beautiful location. Great pool, good food and lots of local wines. We really enjoyed just sitting, drinking wine and staring at the Tuscany countryside. WOW!

Review 131:pictures of apartments on the website do not reflect the accommodation you are actually getting, expectations reg apts are not met, breakfast is very expensive with only a small range of breakfast items available, dinner at the restaurant not recommended (pricey and dismal quality)

Review 132:the location within the vineyards is beautiful, views are picturesque, the pool area is clean and well kept, landscaping of surounding gardens is pretty, the apartment we had was spacious and had beautiful views but was in need of attention, especially the bathroom (shower drain blocked, flush running, issues with hot water)

The Fine Print
