Reviews for Riad Gharnata
Review 1:Nothing.
Review 2:The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They served us the traditional welcome tea as well as a delicious piece of cake one of the evenings. Thanks for everything! The hotel is beautiful, well-cared, perfectly integrated in the medina, beautiful view at the top terrace, and calm inner court. The room was small but enough. Very comfortable, outstandingly comfortable bed, cozy bathroom, and very calm. The breakfast! Definitely one of the best ever!
Review 3:You should know if you want to stay at the centre of the old city like here, there is no direct access to cars, and you have to carry luggage up and down stairs.
Review 4:The staff is very kind and helpful. The private terrace of the family room is very comfortable.
Review 5:Shower was perhaps a bit small, but definitely clean and good shower too.
Review 6:The room was amazing. There was an upstairs and downstairs. Quite spacious for what we needed. Excellent location in the middle of the medina. Absolutely loved Chefchaouen and especially this place, as it was just so unique. We felt like we were living in a castle.

Review 8:Its been just great! Nice room, great terrace where they served us breakfast each morning. Zohir and Mohamed, who running the riad, made our stay enjoyable and unforgottable. Zohir's little morning speeches were so funny and Mohamed waiting for us till late because of our very late arrival first nite. Thank you again, guys. You really made us feel very welcome, its nice to see that you care about your guests.
Review 9:One of the best riad in chefchaouen , the hotel is fabulous , very well located , rooms are super cool looking with moroccan touch and good designing , the staff are very helpfull especially mohamed , he is so friendly and easy going , thank you mohamed for everything
Review 10:you need to climb a bit stairs but acceptable distance.
Review 11:Staff speaks English so well, Helpful and Friendly. Great breakfast. Terrace is awesome, we can panorama the whole city. Not far from most of the sight seeing location. Room was clean, tidy and cozy. We love our stay there!
Review 12:Not really a case of didn't like - we live in Morocco so really must remember that quite often additional beds in a family room are often the Moroccan sofa (quite normal here) but worth remembering if you have smaller children as it generally means lining up cushions on the floor in case they roll out (as the mattresses as narrower than a standard bed mattress). Not a complaint but I can imagine it is a bit of a shock if you are expecting 2 single beds or a sofa bed.
Review 13:Beautiful room with its own terrace on top of it! Perfect - plus we had breakfast on it too so that was an added bonus. Really friendly manager too.
Review 14:We had a lovely room with a private terrace and a beautiful view of the mountains. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. We had an amazing time here. Thank you Riad Gharnata!
Review 15:The double room is the smallest I've ever stayed in, our luggage had to squeeze between the bed and the wall and we were unable to move around the room. When we stayed, we were the only people to stay alongside a large religious group. Unfortunately this group was incredibly inconsiderate of us, their children were allowed to run rampant around the entire Riad and were undisciplined, sometimes opening and banging on our door. Literally screaming and scraping from 7am in the morning. I realise this was out of the control of the staff, but I really feel that something should have been said to this group and some boundaries laid. I feel other establishments would not have let this occur. Unfortunately this ruined our stay here. Also I agree with another comment below that the conversion rate we were given was unfair, we were forced to pay in Euros and Dirhams because they do not have a credit card facility or ATM close by. I did not feel it was good value for money based on much better places we stayed in Morocco.
Review 16:Great location, great breakfast and lovely building.
Review 17:I like the traditional layout of the B&B also the guys running ithave good arabic and English. The location is 2 minutes from the squareand the rooftop terrace is amazing!! Best breakfast yet comparing to allB&B stayed in around the world.
Review 18:Internet is poor :(
Review 19:The Riad is very nice looking at the mountains and very relaxing one, we were two families we reached and one of us doesn't have a mountain view and the staff has upgraded us - very nice staff The breakfast is served in the terrace of the room and it is one of the best
Review 20:The hotel staff were all so helpful and nice. The property is beautifully decorated and is so charming. As others have said, breakfast on the terrace was the best!!
Review 21:The only bad thing was we booked for 4 people, and received a room with one double bed and two couches. Would have expected beds for all. The room was gorgeous though.
Review 22:The hosts were so lovely. The breakfast was the best I've ever had!
Review 23:Great location - walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beautiful streets and alleyways of Chefchaouen. Room was comfortable. Breakfast can be taken in your room or in the courtyard
Review 24:Nothing bad, but expect very firm beds and intermittent wi-fi.
Review 25:The hotel is small but beautifully finished and furnished, and is located well for the medina and river. Our suite was on 3 levels with an amazing large roof terrace overlooking the mountains. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly - they made you feel very special and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely breakfasts too, served on your terrace or with other guests (if there are any!).
Review 26:Lovely room and possibly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Very helpful staff, offering advice on where to go and what (and who!) to avoid.
Review 27:the beds were very hard but after walking all day up and down stairs through the city we really couldn't care less. It's close to a mosque so the call to prayer is quite loud but you're in Chefchaouen so who cares? Also, wifi not amazing in the rooms but in the sitting area I happily facetimed and made calls, checked emails etc. texts will deliver in the rooms.
Review 28:it was our friends birthday and the Riad bought her a gift. It was adorable. Also, the breakfast was incredible. One of our group has a gluten allergy and they were happy to bring her extra eggs. The staffs english wasn't amazing but they genuinely tried to work with us in order to communicate. We had the room with the private terrace and the view was amazing, though the view was amazing on the public terrace as well. Located right in the center. Perfect.
Review 29:Peaceful atmosphere, staff is very friendly and always around, the breakfast in the morning was delicious and rooms are very clean, cosy and freshly decorated. Everything is perfect and new! Excellent location inside medina with great views of the beautiful blue old town. It was a fantastic stay. Definitely recommend!
Review 30:The wifi was a hit and miss, we had a very good connection as the router was in front of our room, but the internet was very slow most of the time.
Review 31:I really love architecture and I was expecting a Moorish architecture with Mediterranean touch. Riad Gharnata looks like it's just been renovated completely, everything smells like varnish and paint (which was fine for me) with really nice decorations and wood works. The staffs were helpful and nice. The guy who works in the reception speaks perfect Spanish, English and or course French and Arabic. He's also very friendly and had interesting conversations with us. It is located very close to the main square and it was easy to find.
Review 32:Wifi was very intermittent and hard to use even when in the lobby.
Review 33:Wonderful welcoming hosts, the most beautiful hotel rooms in the most wonderful mountain location! I can't wait to go back.
Review 34:My young sons and I loved our stay at Riad Gharnata in beautiful Chefchouaen. Wonderful helpful staff and lovely Riad. We had an exquisite top floor family suite with two levels plus a private rooftop patio with great views. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
Review 35:Our family had a wonderful stay at Riad Gharnata. Some of the kindest and most helpful staff we had the pleasure of meeting during our trip. The Riad is stunning, with a great view of the city and breakfast was served on the terrace!
Review 36:Everything was great here. Loved the location, staff exceptional, breakfasts were best we had in our two weeks of being in Morocco, place was nicely decorated and very clean.
Review 37:This Riad is inside the hill town, if you drive your car cannot drive to the Riad. You have take a luggage uphill about 10 minutes up to reach the hotel. The staff of the Riad even helped us to take on piece of luggage, we have to hire outside guy in the car park to help us to have another two luggages. However, as a group of four, we still have take it ourself. While when we leave, we had to care of ourselves to take the luggage solely by us back to the car park. So be prepared !
Review 38:Our room has a small roof, you can have breakfast on the roof terrace which is very nice !
Review 39:Our room was located very close to a speaker that played the call to prayer, which for some reason lasted over ten minutes each morning around 5.30.
Review 40:The room was clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly, and the breakfast delicious.
Review 41:Our guide was taking us on our tour of the town and as we walked up we saw our hotel and we we "gasped." What a view from below! We were so excited to settle in! Our rooms were wonderful. The view was spectacular! Breakfast was simple, but fabulous! I gave a "good" to facilities and wifi. We just had issues with one of the rooms bathroom with the toilet slow flush and leaking, and heat could be a little better or more blankets. But we managed fine. The wifi signal is a little weak, but we managed as well. It won't deter us from using this same hotel on our return to this beautiful city.
Review 42:Our room suffered a bit from the dreaded Morocco drain smell. Wasps invaded breakfast. For what it was, it was too expensive.
Review 43:Abdul is lovely and worked really hard to make our stay a good one and the staff are very friendly. Our lovely cleaning lady worked non stop and thoroughly cleaned our rooms and tidied all our clothes away! Although it's impossible to find without a guide initially, call the hotel and get them to meet you. Once you learn the lay of the land the location is fantastic. The views from the mountain side rooms are incredible and even in December the sun was warm enough to have breakfast on the terrace. This was the real highlight and made it a peaceful place to be. Breakfast was really good. Not really a criticism but just to point out that if you don't speak French, Spanish or Arabic you'll struggle to communicate with the hotel staff but they really try to understand you and are very patient. Thank you for a nice stay.
Review 44:The riad owner was very lovely and looked after us well!

Review 51:I thought the rooms were pretty small and cramped.
Review 52:I loved the area where the hotel was located and the staff were very friendly.
Review 53:The breakfast might be richer. The staff was really helpful but cannot speak proper English. So it was hard to communicate.
Review 54:Friendly staff, beautiful terrace and good breakfast!!
Review 55:Bathroom flooded. Water tap broken. Staff claiming higher price than what was agrred with booking, based on their own currency rate exchange.
