Reviews for Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort

Review 1:it is little bit hard to reach. and i recommend for the next visitors come at day time.

Review 2:the furniture in the room, the cleaning was unbelievable!! the view from the hotel was gorges!! and the stuff of the hotel was very kind!

Review 3:Wifi was available only reception and restaurant not in the room. We would like to buy olive oil or other local products but the prices were higher than market value.

Review 4:It is a bit hard to reach but this makes the hotel very exceptional. Very quiet and peaceful.

Review 5:Suggest need a car: very hilly surrounding area and not ideal for walking or cycling unless very fit

Review 6:Lovely setting; beautiful villa; very helpful & approachable staff; excellent food

Review 7:See above

Review 8:The gardens and views were spectacular, we could not fault anything, except we missed vegetables on the menus, there was a lot of meat and pasta, but it was good food, you have to tell them how well you want your steak cooked, overall our stay was excellent. We would go again and recommend it.

Review 9:- you have to walk down to the pool area, and there's no WC there, so you have to climb up to the house if needed. It may be a bit uncomfortable.

Review 10:- beautiful location - friendly and helpful staff - lovely and cozy room - nice pool area

Review 11:Location is remote and hard to reach. This makes trips to other interesting sites difficult.

Review 12:Food quality really excellent: both dinner and breakfast. All facilities extremely well kept.

Review 13:No wifi in our room, which was in the hotel annex; breakfasts can be improved , but it was in average vs. 4*( I've seen worst).

Review 14:Friendly staff, cleanliness, nice location, quiet place

Review 15:Wonderful resort, completly relaxing with very friendly staff. Location is out of the way but the local area is so charming to explore. The cookery course is very fun and we would recommend this.

Review 16:Beautiful, beautiful place. Set high in the Tuscany hills this place is beautiful. I cannot use the word "beautiful" too many times! The setting of the villa is stunning with wide reaching views, the building is gorgeous, and the restaurant must offer some of if not the best cuisine in the region. The pool too is probably the most beautiful I have swum in too, with flowering topiary and a beautiful weeping willow around it's edge. The spa is first class too. The big discovery for us was the Olive Oil Introduction and Tasting which was fascinating and exceeded our expectation. We have had our eyes opened to the world of Olive Oil! An amazing place, can't wait to come back!

Review 17:The pool can be full of leafs and insects. But I guess nothing much can be done in the summer.

Review 18:You feel extremely welcomed at this place. There are stunning views around the property. We highly recommend to have a dinner at their own restaurant: simple menu but amazing quality (maybe because they use local ingredients). Families with children will enjoy the place especially much: pool, playground, lots of space. We were even given a baby bathtub because our child is just 7 months old. But if you don't have any children (or you are not fond of them) you will be pleasantly surprise how many secluded places you can find on villa's massive territory to read a book or enjoy the views.

Review 19:I can't find the most appropriate words to describe this beautiful place. It is amazing place.Starting with welcoming stuff, amazing room, food and beautiful garden with the pool. It is so nice and quite amazing. Very close to Florence. We will come here again for sure and recommend this place to everyone. Thank you very much all employees from Villa Campestri because you made our honeymoon unbelievable. Memories that will last forever :-) Many thanks from Zeljana & Mirko, Croatia

Review 20:The dinner staff were a bit below par.. Waited 5min to eventually get noticed, then another 5min before even taking a drinks order.. Eventually went to town for dinner. Also expected to be served some olives on an olive farm ?

Review 21:Beautifull surrounding and rooms, most of the staff were very friendly and helpfull.

Review 22:Everything about this place was amazing! Even the price. The rooms, location, scenery, the service from the lovely staff. The breakfast and the restaurant was lovely as well. It`s one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at!

Review 23:This villa was more than we could have hoped for. Breakfast was amazing, absolutely delicious. Hikes around the grounds were beautiful and the staff treated us as family. We will be back!

Review 24:The rooms don’t have a safe which is a shame, but other than that it was fantastic.

Review 25:The Villa is an amazing base for a visit to Tuscany, the accommodation itself it stunning and the views for the Tuscan hills are breath taking. The staff are wonderful and can’t do enough for you. The location isn't the easiest to get to with a winding steep road to get to the Villa itself, but once up there trust me it’s worth it! The villages near by are also well worth visiting for dinner and drinks. We had a wonderful stay, we even got engaged there :) , and hope to visit again soon.

Review 26:Breakfast was average. Was the only place we have ever stayed in Italy that doesn't serve a coffee to guests. It's all a DIY functional affair which is not a great guest experience in such an amazing location actually. Presentation of olive oils at dinner was odd for a native producer. Olive oil offered was not that special. Otherwise dinner and service was great! The hairdryer was very weak, best to bring your own.

Review 27:Very nice views and large, spacious large ornate room.

Review 28:Old mattresses which were uncomfortable Bad lighting throughout Nothing to do in bad weather No wifi in the room No English TV except news

Review 29:Stunning views

Review 30:one thing that is less enjoyable is the road to the villa, it's quite far from big street. it can only be reached by cars. but i guess that's what makes it having a beautiful view.

Review 31:the staff were very nice and informative and helpful. the view were spectacular. everything's clean and comfortable. we cannot stop taking pictures of the view there. it's just breathtaking.

Review 32:The location is about fifty minutes from Florence, driving in a winding road. Not really easy to travel at night

Review 33:The furnitures and the huge room, the great view from the room, and the perfect dinner

Review 34:Nothing bad in any way, perfect

Review 35:Great breakfast, staff friendly, helpfully and easygoing. Room stunning, wouldn't change a thing, should have stayed longer!

Review 36:Lovely countryside and period furnishings - this luxury villa was an excellent base for visiting Northern Tuscany. Staff were friendly and helpful - food is excellent with a different choice each day. Would certainly visit again.

Review 37:The dresser and the wardrobe smelled really bad! We couldn't use the dresser. We hung some clothes in the wardrobe but we had to leave the door open. I think they should do something about i!

Review 38:Dinner at their restaurant is very good, delicious food! The breakfast is good but it needs more variety. After 3 times having the same options it's a bit boring. The coffee was great! During our stay we slept very well, we could really rest.

Review 39:The entire staff was friendly, efficient and made our stay a pleasure. Having breakfast in the dining room was a visual treat and the buffet was consistently good during our nine night stay. We had dinner there almost every night and the food was creative, delicious and different every night. The location was perfect for touring Tuscany and other nearby regions of Italy as well if you had a car. We did not use public transportation, but there is a train station not too far away. The olive groves and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We also took advantage of some of the amenities offered and found them to be quite enjoyable. We loved this place and highly recommend it. It is a very romantic getaway, but accommodates families and small groups too.

Review 40:10Miles uphill drive is bit painful for any new comers. And there isnt much of choice after sundown for dinner or anything.

Review 41:Great view. Great room and staff.

Review 42:Villa Campestri is like a little bit of heaven, absolute peace and tranquility. The perfect place to unwind and relax. A lovingly restored historic building set in gorgeous surroundings on top of a steep hill, overlooking the Mugello valley below. Wonderful, friendly staff, ready to make your stay as perfect as they can. No nightlife, no entertainment, just peace and quiet. A wonderful place to go back to time and time again!

Review 43:Dinner service could be a little too slow between courses, but we weren't in a hurry!

Review 44:The location, the rooms, the food, the olive oil, the garden and pool, the views and even the shower gel! This is somewhere we will definitely be returning to.

Review 45:Cleaning service starts working at 7am and they're very loud at the corridors - talking loudly, laughing, making noise with the doors and cleaning equipment. Internet is only available at the lobby. The hotel is located on a high hill and the only way to get there is to driver very narrow and extreamly sinuous road, which can be annoying if you want to drive every day.

Review 46:Breakfast are exceptional. Great quality cosmetics in the bathroom.

Review 47:Corporate welcome, not overly friendly No air-conditioning Stuffy, out-dated (despite the obvious need to be sympathetic with the period features) decoration Poor mattress Stupid bathroom layout (shower in the middle, unnecessarily Hopeless WiFi Noisy dogs nearby (and, without aircon, no option to close windows)

Review 48:Big period building and rooms

Review 49:There wasn't much I didn't like, but if I had to be very picky I would say that the restaurant is a bit on the expensive side and as its so remote (which is also one of its attractions) it is a car drive to eat elsewhere. We went in July and there was no Air Con in our room so it was a bit sticky at night, although I can understand why you wouldn't want to stick ugly air-con units on such a beautiful building.

Review 50:All the staff are friendly and helpful, and speak perfect English. The hotel is set in a beautiful remote location, with stunning views across the Tuscan landscape, and the buildings and grounds themselves are as beautiful as their surroundings. I particularly liked the fantastic coffee at breakfast. The food in the restaurant is excellent. I'd definitely like to visit again.

Review 51:The weather!

Review 52:This was our third year running staying at the Campestri. On arrival we had a lovely warm welcome from Sandra at the front desk and were given another fabulous room with amazing views. Thank you to all the staff who helped to make our stay so enjoyable

Review 53:Very small things; - When you are having lunch it can be a bit quiet due to lack of customers, this is a shame because of the good quality of the food. The service and staff during lunch is very polite but not very fast, that could be a reason why it isn't that busy? - We think the new chef is great and talented but we miss the former Spaghetti Martelli at lunch :-), 2yrs ago this spaghetti was even better, same for the chocolate cake with heart of olive oil. But, again, very small things :-)!

Review 54:This was our second stay at the Villa and we are still totally in love with the place and the staff. The surroundings are beautiful, the pool is great, the food is very good (though we think that the menu was even better 2yrs ago). Having breakfast in the morning outside is like a fairytale and the staff during dinner is very professional. We loved our spacious room. But the best part of the Villa is the staff, they will do everything for you as a customer and they will help you with anything. Thank you so much!!

Review 55:We spent 12 beautiful days at Villa Campestri and it was real pleasure for all sences. You can take walks in huge beautiful gardens and woods, hear the birds singing, flowers smell everywhere, you can taste great italian cuisine. During our stay there was the area full of fireflies at night!!! Everything is great, the accomodation, the location, helpfull staff, nature, views, pool and cuisine.... Villa Campestri is heaven on earth  And don´t forget to buy their olive oil or great fragrance... You won´t regret!

Review 56:Very professional, friendly staff. Location is just amazing, with a wonderful view on the Tuscan hills. Also, the restaurant is really really good with dishes interpreted with a young, modern twist.

Review 57:The only thing that wasn't good was my massage. My masseuse did not seem like a trained professional and frankly I felt it was a waste of money.

Review 58:Food was incredible, staff was super nice. It rained during our stay and we didn't even mind because the facility was so fantastic and the food and people were so great. Highly recommend taking a cooking class.

Review 59:Fantastic place for relaxation. We're willing to come back for much longer ,sit and do nothing. The stuff is great. The building and rooms are something else..realy! And the view.......!

Review 60:Very clean Romantic Calm Good for travelling with car

Review 61:Beautiful location - excellent service and food. Would love to return there sometime.

Review 62:Restaurant was ok

Review 63:The grounds were lovely Location fantastic

Review 64:Staff, location and facilities were excellent

Review 65:It is really far from Florence and if you are going to visit Florence don't choose this hotel

Review 66:It is a great location for vacation and relaxing

Review 67:Limited menu

Review 68:Location and facility

Review 69:Wonderful setting and buildings plus oil based shower creams. Restaurant good although not exceptional

Review 70:no air conditioning. inaccesibility except by taxi

Review 71:friendly, knowledgeable staff scenery

Review 72:Nothing

Review 73:Location, views were stunning, staff could not be friendlier or more helpful

Review 74:No Bar. Serves wine only Out of the way Scary road to drive at night

Review 75:Staff Excellent kitchen

Review 76:This is a very nice place to stay while exploring Tuscany!

Review 77:Decoration could be better

Review 78:Calm Clean Kind staff Countryside

Review 79:Setting was beautiful, staff so friendly room spotlessly clean everything you could want

Review 80:Poor satellite Internet.

Review 81:Food was Excellent. Facility was beautiful. Quiet, restful resort.

Review 82:Everything no complaints

Review 83:Breakfast service wasn't great. Bed was squeaky

Review 84:great location in the countryside. Dinner service was great. Room was spacious.

Review 85:The silence, very good food! The nature!

Review 86:I loved everything about the place, the resort, and the amenities. Wonderful staff.. Would love to go back!

Review 87:Just perfect

Review 88:nothing

Review 89:Great location and fantastic scenery. Well run and managed by an Italian family and excellent restaurant. ( a bit on the pricey side) Very relaxing and laid back place with good breakfast. Highly recommended but you really need a car.

Review 90:Bathroom was a bit small but still ok.

Review 91:Beautiful hotel. Gorgeous view down the valley. Calm surroundings, ideal for relaxing. Atmosphere and decoration of the room nicely suits the style of the building. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 92:We spent 2 nights at Villa Campestri while on a two week visit to Italy. We took a train to Vicchio and the hotel arranged to have a can pick us up. The cost was $20 euros and it's about a 15 minute ride into the hillside where the resort is located. The view is magnificent and the staff very friendly. It was very relaxing which we needed after touring. Highly recommend

Review 93:Everything from warm greeting on arrival to time of departure the staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds were kept to a very high standard as were the rooms. Fine dining with excellent service.

Review 94:No airconditioning. When we were there the temperatures were 37 to 38 degrees. No big problem to us but friends room very sweltering. This may bother some travellers. Minor point for us and would still return again as lovely hotel.

Review 95:Strayed at Villa Campestri last year and loved it. Returned for 3 days this year with friends and nothing changed. Lovely spacious countryside setting with excellent pool. Good dining area on terrace overlooking countryside at reasonable prices. Beautiful large rooms with period fittings. Staff very helpful. Hard to find fault with this lovely hotel.

Review 96:A lovely place where we were made to feel exceptionally welcome. Set in the beautiful tranquil Tuscan countryside, with gorgeous views, very comfortable facilities, wonderful food, this was an outstanding base to explore the area in and around Florence. Worth mentioning in particular is the olive oil tasting course which was a revelation.

Review 97:The views from both the villa and the pool area are breathtaking.Beautiful hotel, really comfy bed in luxurious room. Oh god, the foodwas amazing- the olive oil menu is delicious and the breakfast was greattoo, lots of choice. This is the place to go if you want to relax andenjoy the good life. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We willdefinitely be going back here.

Review 98:What a lovely experience, right from the moment we arrived. Personal, friendly and professional Reception staff welcomed us to this delightfully situated, peaceful and lovely old Villa. If you wish for the banal minimilist beige, beige and more beige type of establishment, then this isn't for you. Villa Camprestri's charm is in it's original decor, - high chestnut wood ceilings, terracotta floors and rich drapes. All immaculately maintained. As are the grounds, pool and surroundings. Large airy rooms with the most spectacular views of Tuscany. Personally and discreetly run by the joint-owner, the delightful young Viola - who obviously loves her contact with you, the guest - and just wishes for your stay to be perfect. She succeeds. Very good restaurant - which extends out on to the beautiful large terrace. The whole experience completely re-charged our batteries - and we most certainly will return, if at all possible.

Review 99:A few small details that bothered us were: (1) the fact that the wallsof our room were very thin. We heard the goings-on in neighboringroom(s) and we assume they could hear ours too. (2) The bathroom wasvery nice, but our towels didn't really dry each day (although theywere replaced daily!) (3) I wish the Villa had made a sample menuavailable online so we could have understood the approx. Price ofdining in each night. Due to the remote hillside location of theresort, one doesn't really want to come and go at night, so diningat the Villa seems a 'given' - but those costs addedsignificantly to our stay.

Review 100:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Campestri. The staff wasgracious at every turn, the grounds were beautifully manicured (the pooland the lawns especially!!), and the food was deeelicious - namely, breakfasts and dinners. They welcomes us with room number 70 which was alarge suite with a vaulted brick ceiling. If felt like our own littlehome! During our stay, we made a point of trying several of theofferings at the Villa (cooking, massage, local hikes), and we leftwishing we'd tried even more. Our stay at the Villa was veryrelaxing overall, and we would enjoy returning someday.

Review 101:One thing we didn`t like was the noise in lounge room in the evenings because we went to bed rather early.

Review 102:We spent one amazing week in Villa Campestri with our children in May and it was one of our best vacancies.I`ve chosen it according to very good references and location and made sure it was true! I want to thank all the team of Villa Campestri for their hospitality and readiness to help! We`ve already visited Italy before but it was Milano and Venice, in Villa Campestri we`ve got accustomed to real Tuscany and felt in love! The hotel has a perfect location, you can easily go to any part of Tuscany, it`s in one our drive from Bologna airport. We went to Pisa, Florence, Maranello and Ravenna (there is a wonderful amusement park). Villa`s surroundings are amazing!!! Restaurant`s cuisine is perfect! We bought olive oil, cosmetics and air-fresner in Villa`s own shop. The reception Ladies were extremely helpful and kind - Thank you very much! We would like to come back for a couple of weeks with great pleasure!

Review 103:We had really hoped to take some of the cooking classes but were told upon arrival that they were completely booked by a large group for our entire stay. If this is something you want to do, I suggest you book in advance. Dinner in the restaurant was slightly inconsistent with the food we had during our 3 dinners there ranging from very good to just ok.

Review 104:This 13th century building is stunning. It's a magnetic setting for sure. We were upgraded for free to a suite for the week we stayed in Sept 2012. The room was beautiful and spacious. The included breakfast was great. We loved the carrot-orange-lemon juice!! The service In the restaurant was always good and Dario was especially great. We had a massage in our room which was also good.

Review 105:Villa Campestri was a wonderful hilltop Tuscan retreat abounding with gracious hospitality and a highly accommodating staff. The friendly greetings, smiling faces and and frequent staff inquiries regarding our welfare were truly sincere. The views from any vantage point were truly breathtaking and provided endless photo opportunities. We spent four lovely September day::s relaxing, swimming, reading and exploring. The complimentary breakfast was extensive and the lunch/dinner menu offered many culinary delights. Some highlights we chose to book were wonderful and included an olive oil tasting, wine tasting at a local winery, 3 cooking classes with wonderfully instructive head chef Jerry and a truffle-hunting expedition with Gianni and his truffle dog "Zatta". Needless to say, this visit far exceeded our expectations. Paolo Pasquali has truly created a unique olive oil -themed retreat.

Review 106:The rooms are not totally 5 star but charming none the less, thedecorating is really cute but do not expect ultra luxury. At first Ithought the beds were too hard, but they really grew on me and althoughthey were not pillow top beds were restful and comfortable.

Review 107:The employees were perfection, helping us with lost luggage, makingreservations at Uffizi and arranging for the best massages I have everhad anywhere (ask for Sabena). We took a great cooking class from Jerry(these are really fun, if you love to cook, take a few courses). I am atravel agent and usually I say pay over 200.00 at least for a decentplace, but this rivaled a lot of the 5 star places we have stayed inItaly, but felt less stuffy, more genuinely Italian and down to earth. We are going back for a whole month when we retire in a few years. Thefood was lovely and the daughter/managers of the hotel made us feelspecial and welcome. Lovely, feel confident booking this. Food wasreally good/gourmet and interesting.

Review 108:Lovely sympathetically restored villa in exquisite grounds. Fabulous restaurant and dedicated staff. What more could you want for a totally relaxing holiday.

Review 109:Although the restaurant food prices were good, the bill was hiked by thecost of wine. Even the cheapest house wines were 20 euros which wethought excessive especially when compared with other local prices. Noairconditioning so quite stuffy in the hot summer. Could have had morefresh fruit at breakfast. Hotel is billed as an 'Olive Oil Resort' butthis not really played on. All fairly minor issues as overall experiencewas excellent.

Review 110:This is a lovely hotel in terms of location, quality and staff. It has anice classy homely feel to it with quality period furniture andfittings. Good quality food from restaurant at reasonable prices (apartfrom wine). Able to eat out on the terrace with lovely views. Room wewere allocated was very spacious. Excellent pool with lovely views overthe valley. Free no problem wi-fi. One of the best hotels we stayed atduring our holiday.

Review 111:Our room was on the top floor and up two steep flights of stairs. It had no air-conditioning and was stifling. The path down to the hotel pool is steep too so this is not the place for anyone with mobility problems. There are too few sunbeds available for the number of guests.

Review 112:Excellent service - staff were very helpful. Excellent and very good quality dinner menu with a wide choice that was well-explained by waiting staff. Beautiful setting.

Review 113:Facilities are a little lacking given the slightly remote location. Really needs a tennis court / games room or spa. Doesn't make much of its "olive oil resort" billing. Tour of olive oil facilities €50.00 per person for guests??

Review 114:Stunning views, room was characterful and huge, food of good quality in the evening although breakfast felt a little "pre-packed". Excellent reception staff very helpful. Extensive grounds which are well maintained.

Review 115:We liked everything about this place. We were a family and wanted atriple room. We were shown up to our shared room, and was breath-takenby the size of the rooms. The two bedrooms were very spacious and theinterior was so beautiful. All the rooms and facilities at this resortwas just so well kept and professional staff gives you a feeling thatyou are warmly welcome to feel like home. The atmosphere can not bedescribed by words. The food in the restaurant was delicious and we weresad that we were only there for one night. We will definitely return oneday, but then for a longer stay.

Review 116:Not a dislike but some olives in the room would have been a nice touch.

Review 117:The serenity and views coupled with a wonderful dining experience in an ancient building.

Review 118:This resort is one of the best places I have ever stayed. I will deffinately return for a much longer holiday. In our group we had 6 couples and everyone said that everything about this resort was excellent. 10 out of 10.

Review 119:There's not much not to like. But only minor grumble was that a glass of beer was pricey and some of the restaurant food is also at the higher end. A 2 course or 3 course meal with a bottle of wine would cost around 50 euro's each. But that's Italy for you! Beautiful place but everything is very expensive.

Review 120:This hotel feels like a family home in a good way. The building has great features with old thick wooden doors and beautiful furniture. The views are simply stunning. Perched on top of the hills you can see for miles. You certainly need a hire car if planning to stay here for a while. Just outside florence (30minute drive) it's perfect for doing the sights and places of interest. A good base to see tuscany and plan other trips such as Venice. The latter is around a 2 to 3 hour drive away on very decent motorways (toll around 20 euros one way). The restaurant at the hotle is understandably foodie orientated. The menu is carefully prepared and you won't see pizza and chips on there. Most dishes use Campestri's home grown olive oil as you would expect. The wine is also from surrounding areas. It's a great spot to wind down after visiting other areas of Italy. The large swimming pool is perched on the hill side and has amazing views.
