Reviews for Serendipity Beach Resort

Review 1:Expensive for what you get but that is the area really, if you are expecting a 5* resort, this is not it.

Review 2:Very close to the beach, lovely pool area, clean rooms.

Review 3:Everything was unplugged when we arrived, and the fridge power turned off when we left the room. Things like the shower hadn't bee properly installed.

Review 4:Nice big room with a balcony that overlooked the sea. Nice air conditioning. Great location for access to restaurants, the ferry and beach.

Review 5:Air conditioner was very poor switching off when leaving room with the door card and taking about 4 hours to cool room enough to sleep comfortable, We were told someone would look it I think thats all they did. And being charged twice for 2 nights, I called to explain there mistake after getting my statement and was put on hold for 15min.with no answer, I called Booking.com they had my credit card refunded in 2 days"They were Great"

Review 6:Close to Beach and Restaurants and Bars

Review 7:Price jacked up 85% for New Years. Leaky shower enclosure in the bathroom. Terrible breakfast buffet--poor selection and food not hot. Staff are like zombies. Aircon didn't work well. Music outside going on till early hours of the morning.

Review 8:Good view of the sea

Review 9:Quite impersonnal and cold. The service stair case should be closed except in case of émergency. It would be good that the terrace on the west side of the swimming pool and the piece of land on the sea side should be tidied.

Review 10:Very good location next to the pier to go to the islands. Good équipement in the rooms. Clean.

Review 11:The hotel is positioned next to a very noisy beach, the music kept us awake at night until 3:30 am. The staff on reception were unfriendly.

Review 12:The room was a good size with a nice view. The hotel was clean.

Review 13:The location - exceptionally close the the beach - but the party bar end of the beach. We had a seaview room -mistake. The beach parties went all night and did not conclude until after 7am. We got no sleep. Indeed I slept on foam pads on the bathroom floor for five nights - or I didn't sleep. IT was that loud. The hotel is also not set up for families with older children - those older than 11. As we were informed on arrival there are no family rooms - so the fact booking.com allowed us and indicated we could book was wrong apparently. We were told and we needed to book another room, so have two rooms and place my 12 year old in one, or me in one or... or leave. The person at reception verbally assailed my 15 year old while I was dealing with the Tuk Tuk driver. Not a great start. They finally gave us a bed - which was more a slab. Hence me ending up on the floor. My second visit - I would not return.

Review 14:Location - close to the beach. Too close at times. Great pool and mostly very friendly staff - the cleaning staff were excellent. Rooms were well maintained and clean. Excellent pool - although in shade all day.

Review 15:Stayed for three nights, no hot water the entire time. The aircon was never cold. Staff not particularly helpful, asked to change a note at reception- apparently they had no change which is hard to believe for such a hotel. Tuk Tuk drivers outside shouting at you before you've even reached the front door!

Review 16:Location is very good, right near the beach, restaurants and bars. Nice big pool, although always in the shade.

Review 17:No services, no mini bar, no laundry, no reaturant and lobby bar! Not a very good internet connection!

Review 18:The room was very nice and large Location perfect

Review 19:Staff rude, bad wifi and the worst breakfast so far on my 12 week trip, even when we got up at 6.30 1 morning instead of 8.30 for breakfast we found the pre-cooked fried eggs were stone cold along with the coffee, when complained I got a fake smile and a shrug of the shoulders,p paid for my daughter and partner to stay there also as they were backpacking in Asia, they said they'd had better breakfast in hostels and cheap guesthouses tenth of the price..says it all

Review 20:The room & the location

Review 21:Probably a little expensive for what it is but it's one of the few 'hotels' on the strip in Sihanoukville unless you're prepared to stay on a backpackers/guest house.

Review 22:After reading the reviews of this hotel I was a bit dubious to book it... However.. upon staying here for 2 nights, I had no issues. The reception staff were helpful on the desk, the room was big, clean, and airy and the location is good.

Review 23:Staff disconnected, seemed like we were interrupting their day by checking in. If you want a good room but nothing else, it's fine. Very noisy at night from nightclub music... Midnight until 4am, earplugs needed

Review 24:Rooms big and comfortable Great views Plenty of seating in room and balcony Good bathroom Wifi good

Review 25:The breakfast was awful!! Do not go for the included breakfast option!

Review 26:The room was fantastic, but of luxury! The location was perfect and the pool was refreshing after a long day in the heat! ?

Review 27:A few issues:A couple we checked in with paid LESS than us yet did not pre-book and had the same room type. They paid $45 per night, we paid more. Makes a mockery of planning your travel in advance and why a guaranteed booking costs more. We were also charged an extra $75 and have still yet to be advised why. The Hotel also tried to charge my credit card before attendance which was not part of the booking conditions. There was no wifi available due to heavy storms on the floors, yet worked perfectly well in reception. When you are expecting to be able to work or be online for emails and voice calls, this was difficult. The management failed to advise us of this outage when we booked, and never made any attempt to apologise for any inconvenience.

Review 28:Nice swimming pool but could do with more areas to relax outside

Review 29:Extremely loud Music in the evening from all the bars - went on til 5 in the morning. Unfortunately not something the hotel really can do anything about. Serendipity is a major partyscene at Night so expect a lot of loud Music even though the hotel actually have to Doors between the Room and the balcony you still hear the bass pounding on. It's really a Shame because it really is a Nice place in the daytime and in the evening until the Music begins at midnight. Also the breakfast is really bad - if there's any left for you at all.

Review 30:Good location very close to the beach (which wasn't only positive). Spacious rooms - though the furniture were a bit worn out. Lovely bathroom with bathtub and shower which had great water pressure. We had a room with a balcony and the most amazing view of the ocean. The pool were also really Good and very Big and not that many people - guess that most people go Down to the beach.

Review 31:The hotel is past glory and can use a fix up.

Review 32:Nice hotel for one night, large rooms with balcony's and comfortable bed. Right next to the beach and the centre of town.

Review 33:Just read the worst reviews on here and other sites about this place andbelieve every word. The senior staff are absolutely horrendous and haveno conception of customer service. The "sea view" on the firstfloor is not a sea view at all because there are trees obscuring thesea, so all you can actually see is dirty car park. The hotel is lessthan 100 meters from the beach bars that pump music out till 4am orlater, so if you are in a "sea view" room on the closest endof the hotel (as I was going to be) don't expect to sleep. When Itook these concerns to the duty manager, she was outrageously rude. Iwas eventually given a different room (first floor facing the pool) butonly because my fiance is Cambodian and was able to speak their languageand insist we speak to the general manager (after the duty manager liedand said they were out of town). We were refused any sort of partialrefund despite the fact the room we had to move to in order to be ableto sleep was of lesser value. Do not stay here.

Review 34:The pool is nice and large, though there are tiles loose throughout thefloor and a ledge that could be quite dangerous to people jumping in asit is isn't properly marked and has sharp edges.

Review 35:overrated staff not very friendly needed to move rooms telephone not working, then they put us in another room no phone working no Wii Fi in rooms false advertising then me and my young daughter for 5 days needen to walk up 4 flights of stairs as the lift was not working What i dont understand if travellers were on a wakling stick or even a wheelchair, how do they get to their floor. Also l requested breakfast with my room and not once could l eat there the food was cold and sitting there for several hours. l left a day earlier even asked for a days refund as per inconvience, which l think l should recieve a refend

Review 36:Unfortunately, the elevator didn't work, credit cards couldn't be processed, breakfast was terrible, internet never worked in guest rooms and spotty in the lobby. Worst was a front counter staff that didn't seem to care, or upper management that left them handcuffed - hard to know. Left a day early because of these problems and double checking that I didn't get billed for the third night.

Review 37:The location of this hotel is awesome and it has so much potential. Great pool except for children as there is very little shallow area. Water view room was great, watched fireworks from the deck.

Review 38:Nothing worked: WiFi, the only lift, lamps, power points, shower was useless either too cold or too hot, TV channels mid movie displayed notices regarding service which you couldn't get rid of. Air con was undersized so if you left the room which cut power off it would take a hour other two to cool down again. I wouldn't stay their again.

Review 39:They had a swimming pool, not sure if maintained correctly Staff were friendly.

Review 40:Lacking private beach

Review 41:Located close to the public beach as well as Shops bars and restaurants Easy to access and to park a car Nice and quiet swimming pool

Review 42:Desk staff is not particularly friendly but housekeeping does a good job.

Review 43:Large room with electric sockets near beds for charging devices, nice bathroom also, good wifi

Review 44:Its off season and not many guests but breakfast was very limited. Delicious though.

Review 45:The best first: location is perfect! Very close to the beach and right in the middle of a nice street with many restaurants and shops. Try the restaurant Manoha about 100 m up the hill. Amazing. Hotel staff is friendly but more interested in playing smartphone games. English is hard for them. Rooms okay. Everything is okay. Sihanoukville. Love it or hate it.

Review 46:The room air-conditioner was too small for the room size or the unit was faulty. A girl night staff member said a rude remark in Cambodian to my partner we were shocked and upset. The bed dooner was more for a colder weather we were quite hot.

Review 47:The swimming pool was greàt and most of the staff were polite and helpful Great location near the beach.

Review 48:The bad smell from sewage in front of of the hotel. I expected to see the size of delux double room bigger. I think the hotel gave me the twin double room, while I was booking delux double one. The booking online policy is not conducive.

Review 49:Do not book breakfast, it is disgusting. I was surprised that such unpleasant, unwelcoming and lazy staff could have such a negative impact on my stay. They have absolutely no idea of the concept of 'guest' or hospitality. Without permission my credit card was debited whereas I wanted to pay cash. A deeply unpleasant experience.

Review 50:The size of the room. The cleaning staff.

Review 51:The swimming pool area needed to be cleaned on a daily basis. The breakfast was poor quantity and quality.

Review 52:The rooms were larger than I expected and an ample number of towels made a comfortable stay.

Review 53:No breakfast or any evening meals - thought it was a little strange? Maybe just me. Staff weren't friendly

Review 54:HUGE pool Great location and big rooms with either sea or pool views Very clean rooms and nice facilities

Review 55:Breakfast was disappointing with a limited choice. Surprising since the rest of the hotel was excellent.

Review 56:Location next to Serendipity beach Smashing room with lovely bathroom and balcony and view of the sea.

Review 57:The hotel is overpriced and underserviced by staff and attitude. In general the hotel is waiting for renovation and improvement, but mostly for realistic pricing for what they offer.

Review 58:The size of the room was ok. Nothing else matched the decription in the ad of Booking Com.

Review 59:This place was overpriced and the pictures on the website are deceiving. There are "no prostitution" signs all over, but I still saw a prostitute in the lobby. I also saw a man waving a gun around in the lobby. My "ocean view" room was a view of a sliver of the ocean through two buildings. Music blasted outside my room until 5 in the morning. The air conditioner smelled toxic. There was no soap in the bathroom. The bed was hard as a rock.

Review 60:Staff was pretty nice and it is located a short walk from the beach and boat pier.

Review 61:the outdoor shower near in swimming pool does not functioning well & spilled water on the floor does not drained off.

Review 62:excellent location, just a walking distance from the beach, friendly staff;& excellent facilities...

Review 63:The air conditioning did not work properly. I spoke to the reception who sent a mechanic but it lacked power therefore causing hot nights

Review 64:Great location for the beach and restaurants.. Room was clean and tidy..

Review 65:I paid a premium price to be put on the Upper Floor/Room but apparently 2nd floor is classified as premium, we can barely see the Beach view. Bath was cracked so bad, we couldn't use it. and to top of it all off, they Charged me twice and blamed it on the "Bank". Avoid this place

Review 66:Nothing above average

Review 67:Some furnishing a little rough around the edges and more thorough cleaning neccessary in bedroom and bathroom would be nice.

Review 68:Stayed for ten days last year and this visit the attitude of the reception has improved. Local staff as always friendly. Pool wonderful. Will stay again next time in Sihanoukville

Review 69:First morning breakfast not bad, second morning shocking so went outside to eat As seems to be the norm in Cambodia leaks in bathroom, TV not worth watching couldn't tune properly, Wifi kept timing out very frustrating when trying to book travel online Bed very hard

Review 70:Staff great Pool looked clean but furniture needs upgrading

Review 71:staff did not under stand much English ,did not give us a choice on now we wanted to pay for stay just took it out of card not asked

Review 72:very clean, location, view from room

Review 73:The raw souridge running down the street outside the hotel the sell was real bad If I had known that was like that I would not have stayed there They said at the hotel it had been like that a long time Other than that it was very good

Review 74:the room looking out to the pool was grate ground floor cleaning of the room was very good room was just grate

Review 75:bathroom flooded from the floor drain 3 times. not fixed until the 3 visit from plumber. located too close to the beach discos. the pounding disco beat at 4:30AM was unbearable.

Review 76:Wifi was excellent. bed comfy

Review 77:Day 1 room overlooked the pool, lovely. Day 2 room overlooked the sea, lovely.....until the ridiculously loud music continues till 5am...no sleep despite double glazed windows..

Review 78:Loved the room, pool was great!

Review 79:staff were unable to help or recommend as they had very limited English. It was a very basic hotel with facolytes and the poor was very small and unhealthily warm.

Review 80:Clean room and comfy bed.

Review 81:The instant harassment from tuk tuk operators the moment we left the hotel. If I want a ride I'll come to you - leave people alone.

Review 82:The location was a stone throw away from the beach and its restaurant bars.

Review 83:Front Office Staff were not friendly. Hotel needed someone on front door/in lobby to greet and assist patrons. It's Cambodia and wages are low for goodness sakes! Only hotel in my travels that had signs in lobby and in elevator stating that the hotel in not a "Brothel" registered guests only

Review 84:Great location with nice rooms

Review 85:No restaurant or minibar. Advertising in rooms and lobby for a snorkelling trip that is not available at this time of the year.

Review 86:It's pretty much right on the beach

Review 87:The staff was not helpful or friendly, there was a small roach in the room and Serendipity beach is one of the worst places I've ever been and I've been a decent amount of places. The beach is not very nice, there was a tremendous amount of prostitution and general aggressive solicitation.

Review 88:The room was air conditioned with good wifi and a view. It was close to Occhitueal pier where you can get out of Sihanoukville. The shower was hot.

Review 89:Fantastic pool! Close to the beach, restaurants and bars. Big room with comfortable bed, by Cambodian standards, and clean bathroom with good hot water.

Review 90:All good.

Review 91:The rooms well equipt and very well cleaned each day. Staff were helpful & friendly. We had a pool access room & it felt like it was our own pool ! Not a lot of people were using the pool & it was relaxing and peaceful.

Review 92:Poor service at front desk. Very unhelpful. Lack of people, no restaurant apart from breakfast room. No communal area, for sitting around. very clinical an not user friendly. no bar, just a fridge in reception with drinks in it. definatley not luxury here. no service at all.

Review 93:Terrific comfortable 5 star rooms.

Review 94:The downside to Occheuteal is that you do get beggars and people continually wanting to give you leg massages, etc. but it is not as bad as I had imagined from reading other reviews.

Review 95:Our room was clean and very spacious with a stunning sea view, a very comfy bed, lovely modern bathroom. There is a large swimming pool, not a particularly attractive pool area, and with limited sun. It is a brilliant location, one minute from the beach. We would definitely go back.

Review 96:In this Hotel is everything Excelent.Room very nice and big.Roommade clean every Day very good.Nice Pool.Very Good Staff.Very Good Location and very quiet for this Region

Review 97:The signs around the property about prostitution, drugs and human trafficing. Front desk staff not very helpful.

Review 98:Good location, big rooms. Big pool. Cleaning staff do a good job.

Review 99:Bit noisy on a night until the beach bars shut

Review 100:Ideally located for all the facilities. Fortunately we upgraded to a room on the 5th floor with fantastic views over the beach and pier. Would recommend this hotel

Review 101:Cleaning staff could do better Small inconveniences with room door lock (second time we stayed in)

Review 102:Sea view Nice and comfy room conveniently located good WiFi Car park in front of the hotel

Review 103:This hotel does not allow guests to have any friends or outside guests (visitors) within the hotel grounds. This was a first for any hotel I stayed over the world and very inconvenient. The attitude of the reception staff was very poor After a power failure the TV lost reception A staff technician attempted to repair the TV, After 10 mins he left without repairing the TV. I then contacted reception to enquire if the TV would be repaired, they advised it was the network supplier from Russia that was responsible and the TV couldn't be repaired. The following day I decided to try programing the TV channels as I was wanting an early night in my room that evening - the TV simply needed to be programed due to the power outage the previous day yet the hotel continued to claim it was broken due to the satellite network from Russia. The signs warning of prostitution within the hotel being illegal were also very in your face. and over the top I believe.

Review 104:The location and view

Review 105:Noise from the beach parties and fireworks which was every night and went on till about 6am.

Review 106:The location is excellent, 2 mins to the beach and pier. There are so many bars and restaurants in the vicinity you are spoilt for choice. Large clean rooms with large balconies. If possible ask for a sea view, they are worth paying extra for, ours had large patio doors with a spectacular view of the beach and islands also the pier with boats going in and out. You also get the sun all day.

Review 107:Breakfast wasn't included, which it could have been given the price of the room. Mattress was a bit too hard. And wifi was on and off, but I find that seems to be everywhere in Cambodia.

Review 108:The location is great, 20m from the beach, and I didn't wander much further so never got on a tuk-tuk. The rooms are impeccably decorated and the pool is great

Review 109:All toiletries were sub standard quality, foyer is trying too hard to be grand.

Review 110:Bed super comfortable, great location right by the pier, when the a/c unit started pouring water at 11 at night they came within five minutes and fixed it.

Review 111:Probably wouldn't stay here again - a bit rowdy from the party crowd on the beach. Something at Otres or on a nearby island would appeal more.

Review 112:Very clean and impressive. Great pool. Teenage kids loved it. No mini-bar but cheap drinks available in foyer fridge - or over the road. No restaurant (or breakfast) but plenty of options nearby. Very good value for money.

Review 113:The Wi-Fi did not work so well.

Review 114:The noise from the bars was not bad at all ( as we had heard ) Lowly sea view from our terrace. The location was perfect, close to the beach and the pier.

Review 115:No dining or room service. No laundry service. Noisy throughout the night with loud music and fireworks being set off on the beach. Booking.com said it had many of the facilities that it does not (laundry and dining). Would be a good location for younger people wishing to party all night and have a close hotel to crash in... if wanting good nights rest suggest staying somewhere away from the main beach/jetty area.

Review 116:Close to the jetty for visiting nearby islands. Comfortable bed and good bathroom facilities. Pool area was okay but never gets much sun as it is surrounded by tall buildings on all sides. Good cheap laundry services nearby.

Review 117:Bed too soft for my husband ended up with backache. Breakfast not sogood very greasy.

Review 118:Everything was good no complaints.clean.sea view room was fabulous.Good position.

Review 119:Ocean side room could hear duff duff music until 6am....BUT still a great location! Take plenty of US $ over as NY as Visa and Master card facilities are limited outside of hotel and ATM frequently ran out of cash!

Review 120:Great location

Review 121:Nothing.

Review 122:Close to beach and shops/restaurants.Large,clean,comfortable rooms.Cable tv with very good channel selection.Good bathroom.Nice pool (although mostly in the shade).Nice sea view from front rooms.

Review 123:It is close to the beach, so you do get some music noise till the early hours... But is background noise so easy to sleep through and the brilliant location/ views more than make up for it.

Review 124:Location fantastic, 20m from the beach. Room lovely, modern, WIFI good. Nice pool

Review 125:Bed not comfortable too hard. Sheets and linen poor with paper thin towels. Pool at times during day in shade. Breakfast next door $4 per head poor not good value only had one morning.

Review 126:Good location. Very good size rooms. Good balcony overlooking pool. Staff helpful. Swimming pool quite good. Good price for what you received. Cleaning ladies for rooms very friendly.

Review 127:Bad wifi on upper level but views on top floor made up for it. We booked another night in same room but at midday got told to move to a downstairs room with no view. We left to another hotel.

Review 128:Spacious room on the top floor with amazing views. Really modern and comfortable beds/bedding. Had a balcony with cafe setting. Great bathroom with bath and shower. Nicely decorated, best value so far!

Review 129:There is no breakfast I guess (at least in our deal) in the hotel. On the other hand, there seems to be really no reason for the breakfast. Sihanoukville is very cheap and just accross the hotel there is a restaurant taht starts business at 6 AM.

Review 130:We stayed in a room facing the sea. It was amazing. The sun rise and other times very nice view. The hotel is very close to the ferry terminal and the Ochheuteal Beach. Actually, if you turn right (rather than left which is the Serendipity Beach / Ochheuteal Beach) infront of the hotel and follow the trail, in 10-15 minutes you can also go to the Sokha Beach, which is better than Serendipity/ Ochheuteal Beach in turns of the water quality and crowd. The furnitures (in particular the bed) was very nice. The hotel is in the center of everything.

Review 131:-Breakfast is not included, but there's a really nice place right in front of the hotel called Smile that offer good breakfast for only 2.5 USD -It's not a resort- the name may lead to confusion

Review 132:-Excellent location nearby Serendipity beach and at 5 minutes by tuc-tuc to Sokha beach -I like that prostitution is forbidden in the hotel -We spent New Years eve and the Hotel left a gift in the room (box of chocolates) -There are specific towels and a bag to bring to the beach -There's a shower and bath. In the toilet there's a big window from which you can see the sea while taking a shower

Review 133:Noisy at night from the clubs on sea front (great if you like to party) Gym only had cardio machines and no weights. Staff were not as friendly as other places we had stayed to be honest.

Review 134:Nice room Good wifi Great location (if you like the serendipity area...)

Review 135:a bit of noise from the bars on Serendipity beach, despite the good insulation from the double windows poor aesthetics / lack of character in the lobby and other common areas, feels cheaper

Review 136:spacious rooms with good amenities staff very quick to fix some problems (A/C dripping, lamp broken) 30 meter long swimming pool perfect for exercise swimming

Review 137:Room full of Mosquitos, after asking the staffs, got given a bottle of Mosquito spray and expected us to spray ourselves. Bed sheets smelled disgusting. The bathroom is dirty and shower head doesn't hang properly end up spraying the ceiling/everywhere. Myself is a Cambodian would not recommend this to tourists. Other hotels are cheaper and better in everything

Review 138:Location was good

Review 139:Grumpy staff, from check-in to cleaning, no one cares. Not their fault, but management, who creates this unfriendly atmosphere: you get just one room key and if you lose it: $10 penalty. Check out exactly at 12, if you stay 1 hour extra: pay an extra day. There is a large restaurant-annex, where you can buy breakfast, menu has 4 choices, so no one eats there. With another management, this hotel could do so much better.

Review 140:Good location, close to the beach, spacious room, comfortable bed.

Review 141:It was close to the beach, so close that the pounding of the rave (techno) music went until 4 am.

Review 142:The location was good for restaurants and the beach during the day. The room we had was large and had an ocean view. We found real ground coffee at the Sandan market and used the in room french press.

Review 143:During our check out, the hotel guy didnt find the towel and tried to charge us for this, But after that my wife came to room and find the towel. After that, there were no more questions

Review 144:Location, view, room

Review 145:Can hear clubs from the room.

Review 146:Good hotel if you opt for the sea view room ($5 more). Good facilities, although the pool will never see the light of the sun. Location is at the top of serendipity beach, next to the beachfront bars and clubs. For the price, the hotel is very good, but if you like more quiet areas with more upmarket restaurants and shops then opt for Another beach.
