Reviews for Sokha Beach Resort

Review 1:The hotel staff is so good, especially the lobby manager, they can answer your every question. It's a very good experience to stay in this hotel, make the holiday perfect!

Review 2:We stayed here at the end of our trip to Cambodia, for some relaxation after an amazing time in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh We had an ocean view room which was spacious, comfy, clean and had good air con. Breakfast is buffet style with a good range of food to cater for most tastes. Waiting staff were polite and efficient. Pool was clean and set in a wonderful garden setting. The beach was a magical and a peaceful haven with incredible sunsets. My requests to make adjustments to meals were accommodated to perfection. Food took a while to be served but was well worth the wait. We booked a driver from the hotel to drive us to Phnom Penh airport which though expensive compared to local taxis was a safe and a very pleasant drive.

Review 3:They do not understand the concept of resort. To me a resort is a destination you can go and get everything you want on the property. They are serious lacking the fun aspect of a resort. Music poolside, drink specials, fun activities, beach party were all missing

Review 4:They didn't follow my reservation. My booking was ocean villa and they gave me standard room and didn't give me any compensation. I really disappointed.

Review 5:I like the place

Review 6:UnionPay credit cards are NOT accepted at this hotel and it was supposed to be accepted according to the information of the booking reservation Hotel ATM's are NOT working Breakfast quality is not really good

Review 7:The beach is gorgeous Lemongrass restaurant is quite good

Review 8:Some parts of the hotel were in need of repair. The area around the cruise buses was not as clean as the rest of the hotel. Room service food was just ok.

Review 9:The beach was a huge plus. The deck restaurant at sunset is a must. Food was overall good although the breakfast was by far the best.

Review 10:breakfast - very loud music, limited choice, the room where it was served was not looking nice. staff was asking if they could take the plates and cups away from your table even before you finished eating! Happened often. For me, the hotel lacks some cozy "atmosphere". And, last but not least, drinks and food offered are quite overpriced (like $3,50 for 1,5 L still water)

Review 11:nice beach, cleanliness, generally smiling and helpful staff we really loved the Lemongrass restaurant, where we could see crabs and fish at night.

Review 12:We were there during Christmas and the continual loop of christmas music with little children singing was very annoying. We thought that quality christmas music would have been wonderful, but what was playing did not hit the mark.

Review 13:The staff was excellent, very attentive.

Review 14:Very noisy, in the room you can hear other guest walking by, singing, and moving furniture upstairs, etc. also we didnt understand new system with towels - first you need to go to the front desk amd get towel cards, then you go to the pool and exchange them to towels and at the same time they write your room number. May be it was easier to give this cards right when you check in? Also our view was to the construction site, not very nice.

Review 15:Cleaniness, comfort, food, kids center. Womderful and huuuge bed! We loved it!:)

Review 16:No hot water in the room during whole stay!!

Review 17:Beach is clean and mot overloaded. The personnel and hospitality were superb. Special thank for arranging birthday cake and wonderful live band at main restaurant

Review 18:Need for bus service to city.

Review 19:5 star, beach Property with huge pool. Everything is nice, Staff is proactive. Worth to stay, Beach, Pool, spa, staff and landscape of property. Food in Champa and lemongrass.

Review 20:Hotel is too large (capacity around 700 guests). At this time of year only about 10% full and the place seems a bit like a ghost town. When full, could be daunting. Décor poor for a 5*.......needs bringing up to standard.

Review 21:The Deck/Lemongrass restaurant is very good. Special mention to Duong Sokvigim who is friendly, helpful and attentive.

Review 22:Quite unpleasent staff. Brekfast area non air conditioned very busy and too small. Despite the fact it was the most important Khmer holiday there was heavy construction work most of the day. The beach security kept bothering us making sure we are hotel guests every day which was quite annoying. Sunbads need a bit of attention. Despite the fact the resort is huge there was a problem finding parking space within walking distance. Humidity inside the rooms were preety high, making the stay less pleasent The price of drinks and food was the only thing that reflects 5star rank

Review 23:Great location within reasonable distahce from the city center Wonderfull private beach The restaurant nicely located at the sea side

Review 24:Ok it's perhaps not a 5* as we have in Europe but it's a really high standard for Cambodia. The staff is friendly and they are refreshing the rooms/facilities when we were there (they change the sofa in the room during our stay!). The beach restaurant Lemongrass is really good but a little bit pricy. The beach was amazing with crystal clear water. Be careful some jellyfish were also there.

Review 25:We had a seafood BBQ buffet on the second night of the stay - wish the buffet would have had more variety.

Review 26:We enjoyed our dinner at the Lemongrass Restaurant (good food and ambience) inside the resort. The room was also spacious and there were complimentary fruits and chocolates. Staff were also very helpful.

Review 27:Too many dominating Chinese.Nowhere were we advised that this property is primarily a casino resort, otherwise we would not have stayed there. Property is out of town a bit and the timings of the complimentary shuttle buses not very convenient.

Review 28:Good facilities at the complex but very spread out. Shuttle carts helpful though to go between facilities. 2 lovely swimming pools and nice private beach.

Review 29:The hotel dosn't know hoe to work with booking, and they wasn't helpfull about it. The price is high (for night, and for things inside the hotel - spa, meals and so)

Review 30:The hotel is AMAZING! Great and clean beach, fun pool, great spa!

Review 31:The decor and amenities in room are a bit worn and need repair.

Review 32:Clean and safe beach. Pool facilities. Great staff. Lemongrass and Deck restaurants are great.

Review 33:Food was fabulous , beach is super clean , pool crystal clear and the service was incredible Evan for us young 23yr old couple big hotel lots of walking keeping us also fit

Review 34:Poor rooms which didn't match the description or photos, and which weren't very clean, no sea view when my room had been sold as such, uncomfortable beds, average breakfast, and poor service, partly due to very limited English levels of the staff. The hotel was mainly full of large numbers of Chinese visitors, so aimed more at their needs than the needs of European guests.

Review 35:The beach was really nice

Review 36:Not distinctive in any way. Pool overrun by screaming kids - need another pool,

Review 37:Beach immaculate, great staff , great food and drinks in beachside restaurant.

Review 38:No info that pool, bar and restaurant by room would be closed for maintenance reasons at the time of the booking.

Review 39:We liked everything else. A fantastic hotel, fantastic staff, fantastic beach, pool, everything. Dont change!

Review 40:Slow Wi-fi, needs more non-smoking sections in restaurant. Games room very poorly maintained. Only powdered milk in room for making coffee.

Review 41:Location, beach and pools. Restaurants that we tried were all good. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Review 42:Check in was much harder than it should have been. I'd booked a twin room through booking.com and they tried to tell me I didn't specify bedding configuration. I showed them my confirmation with this information and the girl tried to make some other excuse on the spot. On a positive they did upgrade us to a 'pool view' room instead.

Review 43:Excellent range at breakfast

Review 44:Nothing

Review 45:Everything about this resort is Amazing. From the kind staff greeting you every morning. To the staff at the pool, restaurents, lobby and cleaning your room, they were all so polite and happy to help with anything. We stayed there for 5 nights and our room got cleaned twice a day. We had an issue with our flight leaving having to be changed and they were more than happy to help us out. I cannot wait to go back to the Sokha beach resort again. Defnitely a hide away from Cambodia.

Review 46:smell not so good when I first step into my room ,but was told that's moisture in the air. and was too many people during dinner time in main resultant which also beside lobby, very very noisy.

Review 47:Very large hotel,have a long private beach,beauty view.

Review 48:they booked and placed us with the tourist group, even when we booked ahead of time. not a relaxing trip.

Review 49:Nice area, staff is nice and will help with anything needed.

Review 50:THE HOTEL IS IN DIRE NEED OF REBURBISHMENT. THE ROOMS ARE DATED AND TIRED THE BATH WE HAD CRACKED ENAMEL AND THE SHOWER FITTINGS KEPT DROPPING OFF.... THE BAR ARE IS TOO HOT WENT TO BED EARLIER THAT WOULD HAVE LIKED TO FIND SOMEWHERE COOL

Review 51:PRIVATE BEACH ACCESS THE RESIDENT GROUP WERE GOOD AND PUT OFF TIME WUITH KIDS AND PLAYED SONG REQUESTS

Review 52:The food was not very good, more western options than Asian!!! Quite disappointed on that.

Review 53:The beach, the swimming-pool, the sunset! Staff nice but not very present and communication in English not always easy

Review 54:The room service food was below average, we ordered the fried rice with braised pork and prawns. The fried rice was mushy and had no taste, and the braised pork was cold and all you could taste was the fat. The only thing that you could order through room service would be alcohol.

Review 55:We just married and we were on our honeymoon so it was nice to see the staff put rose petals in the bath and on the bed. Good service, great beach.

Review 56:Wifi is feeble. Breakfast buffet is mediocre. Only ordinary coffee served. I expect hot latte with my breakfast at a ***** hotel.

Review 57:The staff, facilities, and beach (The only clean beach in all of Cambodia.)

Review 58:this was the most expensive hotel we stayed in in Cambodia, but by far the lowest standard. In fact we were so disappointed my husband spoke to the manager about our concerns. On the plus side he did act on my husband's comments and try to improve things: No friendly greeting on arrival. some staff were lovely, others almost rude. the advertised facilities didn't exist - no children's playground, no watersports available. the pool was extremely murky and the grouting around the edges was covered in slime. there were cockroaches in the pool toilet. breakfast was crammed into a too small space & food was cold. there was not the choice I would expect from a hotel of this price range.

Review 59:the beach is beautiful. the restaurants for lunch & dinner are great, particularly the one outside next to the sea. the hotel has a lot of potential, but it is run for big tour groups staying a night or two, not for longer term individual travellers.

Review 60:Bit expensive compared to other 5 star cambodian hotels. No shop on site so have to rely on bars for drinks.

Review 61:Pool and sunbeds were good. Never had a problem getting a table at breakfast. Stunning sunsets and kimonos instead of bathrobes in the room.

Review 62:Everything! Room was nice, the pool and the beach too, with amazing views of the sunset. Breakfast was top notch. Staff was great and I even got a surprise cake for my birthday!

Review 63:The beach/water are often filled with garbage. The hotel seems too spread out and illogically laid out...They seem to be expanding but not really improving anything. Even the new sections look rundown. There were no activities on offer despite being advertised in various locations.

Review 64:Staff is friendly. Rooms were clean and adequate. The grounds are lush. The food at Lemongrass Restaurant was really lovely both nights.

Review 65:Staff not great. The nightly karaoke performers were so bad I refused to drink at the hotel bar at night. Very unfortunate because bar atmosphere (minus the music) was amazing.

Review 66:Breakfast, private beach, pool

Review 67:None

Review 68:Thought this might be a mistake staying over Chinese new year, but the staff coped so well with a full house! Opening up more places for breakfast. Just loved this place. The promenade walk is a great walk and the beach is wonderful

Review 69:It's the 1st time in my life when I can't say anything bad about a hotel....Maybe, Wi-Fi was a little bit slow, but it was unimportant...

Review 70:Everything was great and wonderful - location, stuff, room service, meal, beach, comfort, accommodation, atmosphere....Strongly recommend it for your future romantic staying)))

Review 71:For this level of hotel the wifi must be perfect (it was not sufficient) and restaurant staff should be more smiley and apply their responsibilities. One guy just spin several times on the swimming pool, they did nothing. Prices in restaurant are really exaggerated.

Review 72:The two swimming pool, the cleanliness of the beach and the two pools for kids and adults. Shame it is not near the lobby and close at 6 pm.

Review 73:Rooms were 3 star at best. We immediately upgraded bc our bed was awfully uncomfortable, the door didn't lock and the bathroom door didn't close all the way. We then stayed in the Aspara suite which was closer to what I would consider 4 star. It was nice. But mostly wasted space. Not even vaguely worth the money.

Review 74:Pool area was very nice. Breakfast was also very good.

Review 75:Wifi is poor and it is a real shame that the hotel need 3 staff to continually remove litter from the beach - not at all the fault of the hotel

Review 76:Friendly and very helpful staff, great facilities, excellent food and real value for money

Review 77:The Lemon Grass restaurant. First time we went my husband's meal did not come till after 4 of us had eaten. We went a second time and service was still bad. Feel it needs a goodMaitre,d to supervise what goes on.

Review 78:The position of thehotel,quiet.

Review 79:The meals were spoilt (several guests got heavy problems), breakfastwas a single chaos and often you missed something, the rooms were notclean, on the beach were only few sunshades, WiFi did not work in therooms, the staff was not trained, the tables were unhygienic dirty, many asians fed like animals, western guests were stealing, themanagement refused to talk about the grievances, a restaurant wassuddenly closed without announcement and so on and on. May be the worst5 star hotel of the world!

Review 80:Nice garden

Review 81:Sometimes the answers and reaction time of the service and reception staff was not quite up to the 5 start rating of the hotel.

Review 82:Everybody was very friendly and apparently genuinely so.

Review 83:Bathroom was a little simple, wifi wasn't so good, live music every night with bad singers until 11pm.

Review 84:Helpful staff, good food, beautiful resort, nice private beach away from the town's public beach.

Review 85:Lovely room, great pool.and beautiful location on a long clean sandy beach. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and I hope to return for another warm winter break.

Review 86:The complex was huge and there was no book in the hotel to indicateguest services, a map, what extra facilities they had, location ofrestaurants and bars etc. the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable, and the hotel itself although clean was in need of an update and sometlc. There are many other hotels in close proximity which were a lotcheaper. I dont believe the price of this hotel reflects the standard -it is overpriced.

Review 87:Free shuttle bus to main strip each day, lovely private beach and nicepool area. Helpful staff and nice breakfast. Large spacious room.

Review 88:No bad experiences. I think the breakfast buffet area could be larger. Sometimes the buffet area seemed crowded. Poolside bar could stay open a little later.

Review 89:It was very comfortable. The beach was beautiful and peaceful. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms were well appointed. The fitness room was well equipped. Easy to get tuk tuk's into town. Lovely grounds. Nice restaurant and bars. Daily happy hour. Daily shuttle buses Into town. Good restaurants outside of the hotel easily accessible. Poolside bar staff very friendly. Very good entertainment in the main lobby of the hotel. Pleasant atmosphere and good food at The Lemongrass restaurant.

Review 90:Too big resort, need a tuk-tuk to go out the evening. Very expensive for Cambodian average prices

Review 91:Friendly staff, fanstastic swimming pool, perfect beach

Review 92:So many people for breakfast that you have to wait so long to get a seat. Floor was dirty in the room and it remained that way till we left no one was cleaning. Rooms need to be renewed.

Review 93:Beach was clean, food was good when you finally get it, location good.

Review 94:Very expensive compulsary new years eve gala dinners. There needs to be more sun loungers at all the pool areas and at the beach.

Review 95:Friendly attentive staff and good food. You can sit on the beautiful beach without being hassled by people selling cheap and tacky goods.

Review 96:pillows are very bad, breakfast is very poor, during 7 days all the time nothing new and very less items, staff is unfriendly in comparison with all others khmer people and hotels that we stayed before and after it! Will never give 5 stars to this hotel, maximum 3! Very bad cleaning of the room! Almost none speak english from the staff in the hotel!

Review 97:Just very nice white beach and ocean!

Review 98:It is quite overpriced for what you get. The bar at the pool is very expensive and there are steps into the room Wich you trip over. Also we had an offer through booking of late 2pm checkout but they would not allow it. Airport bus 10 dollar pp we got there from phnom phen for 50 in a taxi....

Review 99:Lovely beach white sand. pool was lovely. Courtesy bus to town is free and useful. Only 5 min to center.

Review 100:The nightly live music was terrible, awful guitar playing from the female artist with a strangled sounding voice, the duet on before her not much better. The music ruined two dinners at the main restaurant for me. Door key cards stopped working numerous times and wifi was frustratingly slow.

Review 101:beach, pool, breakfast and deck restaurant were good

Review 102:We stayed over New Year. There was never anything on any booking engine to say there was a compulsory New Years Eve dinner which was insanely expensive and very average. Every night in the hotel restaurant (no matter which one we were at) they had run out of pretty much everything we ordered. It was funny first couple of days but got annoying after that.I have a 10 and 5 year old so we were not dining late. Playground was not in use , no work being due but chidden not allowed to play in it and yet it was advertised on Facebook last week as one of the attractions for the children. We had a great holiday but not a hotel I would recommend nor stay in again.

Review 103:Location was good

Review 104:The bed was huge, but too firm. The room was a little too close to the laundry, and the humm of the laundry building was annoying.

Review 105:The staff were fantastic. Always smiling, very polite and cheery. The food was to die for, every dish and cocktail was wonderful.

Review 106:The rooms was ok but could be cleaner. Staines on the balcony that was never cleaned.

Review 107:Good service and food in lobby restaurant. Private area and beach.

Review 108:Compulsory new year's eve dinner for USD110 (+15% vat and service) was way over priced for what we got. Left a small book behind. was asked USD30 to mail it back to us in regular mail.

Review 109:Beautiful location. Great private beach and pools. Nice rooms with comfy beds.

Review 110:The Room may be a little old.

Review 111:Sokha Beach is one of the best beaches in Sihanouk Ville. The hotel has two open restaurants, one lies next to a swimming pool, another lies next to a beach. The restaurant next to Swimming pool's food tastes more delicious, the one next to beach lacks some of the flavor, but the scenery is nice.

Review 112:The place is very big but offers only a few sun loungers, which get occupied very early and monopolised by people leaving towels on even though they disappear for hours. There were unwanted hidden costs (compulsory New Years Eve gala at $110 per head, compulsory buffet on New Years Day at high cost) Service was very slow in the restaurant on the beach. Spa is very basic ( one jaccuzi, one sauna, one steam room, all very small) Staff lost our bags for quite a while at the time of going to the airport, and shuttle bus was overbooked and crowded even though it cost $10.

Review 113:The location near the beach, the size of the two swimming pools, the beauty of the unspoilt shady beach with white sand and turquoise water, facing the glorious sunsets.

Review 114:Food- cold 'hot' food at breakfast, egg noodles mixed in with a rice noodle soup, ham in the vegetarian omelette, food not labelled for allergies despite asking twice. Buffet Christmas and New Years dinner had good seafood but not good at anything else. Poor tasteless desserts. Over priced tickets for buffet dinners Restaurants and beach partially closed on Christmas day despite full capacity and pain a premium for the time of year. no sun beds to be had! all are full, every day same problem Mattress quite firm Some black mould in the bathroom Couldn't get a reservation for dinner in the restaurant over the ocean. Food in the pool bar nice but not excellent and can get excellent food down the road for half the price Entertainment at Christmas and New Year party repeated, including all the same songs got a bit boring especially as paid $70 and $110 for tickets Sharp twigs in sand on beach could do with a beach comber Didn't feel like views were taken seriously when complained

Review 115:The waiting staff were friendly and helpful The beach was nice The pool looked great The spa was great free shuttle bus to town

Review 116:We got the impression that this resort would have been amazing a few years ago but the facilities and decoration are a little but dated for the price that we paid.

Review 117:Private beach, swimming pool. Breakfast was one of the best ive ever had.

Review 118:Poor concierge service and local knowledge of reception staff Smelly toilet in room

Review 119:-Excellent wifi connection even on beach -Exclusive beach reserved for hotel guests, very clean

Review 120:The breakfast wasn't the best, I found a gigantic cockroach in the bathroom, tried to take a bath but ran out of hot water mid-bath, I won $100 in the casino but they insisted that I only won $80, The internet was very slow

Review 121:The beach, Lemongrass restaurant was amazing, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the casino is small but fun, bed is clean and comfortable, there's always something to do at this hotel: dinner, dance show, casino, beach, pool, beach bar and the list goes on

Review 122:The transfer service to the airport is very expensive. In fact it is a big bus organized by hotel carrying at least 15-20 people, charging each US$10! It does not seem to be a fair price, when you can take a private taxi for US$20! I would really recommend to the hotel to include airport transfer service in the room rate, which is high enough.

Review 123:Great relaxing experience in a clean, pretty and cozy white sand beach of Gulf of Thailand. We really enjoyed the interaction with the staff, with their permanent lovely smile, over three nights of our stay at Sokha Beach Resort. The good English of staff was also a great advantage in a country where people rarely speak English. The breakfast is a highlight, delightful and rich. The beach towels are fresh and of good quality. We started our days at 6 a.m. by morning exercise on the beach, while watching sunrise, swimming and then having our breakfast full of positive emotions. You cannot find any place better in Sihanoukville, even if the rate is high, but definitely worth it!

Review 124:Tepanyaki Restaurant was not good.

Review 125:I think the hotel was quiet good. Price was reasonable and the place is beautiful. The food in general was good and good selection of diferent kinds of cuisine. I had a massage in the spa and I really enjoyed it. Staff was friendly and effective.

Review 126:Little crowdet at breakfast time. Bath room in need of renovation, the very hard bed

Review 127:Private Beach, Nice restaurants a bit pricy but it is a 5* hotel. Big variation in the breakfast. Big room, good we had windows to garden, two days big partys at the pool and a little noisy

Review 128:Insufficient lighting around the farther reaches of the resort after dark makes it hard to see where you're going, especially if you live in one of the beach villas. Taxi transfer to the airport seemed very expensive.

Review 129:The resort is a good distance away from Otres Beach and the town, which you'll appreciate after a while. The staff are all lovely and I had a good sleep despite being in a very central part of the hotel.

Review 130:Breakfast room 3 Star and the food very ordinary. The staff in the bar in the evening were offhand. For what this hotel charges it sells itself as a Five star,it is Four at best. With very little investment it could be a fantastic Five star!

Review 131:Beach fantastic, pool very good, location to town very convenient. The room was comfortable and the staff friendly

Review 132:The dinner band were terrible! We attended what was advertised as a traditional evening of Khmer food and culture and did not expect an out of tune band playing Western golden oldies. This was disappointing. No other complaints.

Review 133:The clean, private beach!! The friendly staff The luxurious rooms Felt like a safe haven from an otherwise chaotic beach town

Review 134:the hotel is a big resort that is a bit dated with not much charme. the rates are way too high compared to the really nice boutique hotels in cambodia (although without private beach ;)

Review 135:the beach and the pool area are really nice

Review 136:If you are lazy don't expect to be served drinks at the pool or on the beach, as this is self service. Staff are friendly but not as friendly as your true Cambodians which was strange. Hotel is purely relying on its private beach which other hotels in the area do not have

Review 137:Huge complex with nice beach. Good breakfast with lots to choose from. Not as value for money as other hotels that we stayed at in Cambodia. Beach is well kept and cleaned. Rooms were nice and big and clean.

Review 138:The hotel provides taxi for $47 from airport to hotel. There is a busfrom airport to hotel for $6 Staff member approached us about bus fromSihanoukville to Phnom Penh, we were told it was direct with wifi andwater and none of the above was provided. On arrival to Phnom Penhsurrounded by the bus driver Tuk Tuk mates and took our bags to a randomhotel. We paid $26 total for this service recommended by a staff memberand turned out to be a total joke. Emailed the hotel about this a weeklater still no reply. A great 5 days ruined by this member of staffselling bus journey that was not what it was promised Hotel shouldreally have staff trained better in this regard

Review 139:Private beach and clean Excellent facilities Lemongrass restaurant hasgreat and tasty selection of dishes Breakfast selection Swimming poolis fantastic

Review 140:A/C was blasting warm air all night, finally kicked over to cold in the middle of the night. Prices were steeper compared to other hotels for food/drinks.

Review 141:Everything - Service to dining experience to the breakfast.

Review 142:Nothing!

Review 143:The Staff was very frendly and the accomodation is too clean and confortable. The private beach is amazing, calm and clean... and have a wonderful sunset!
