Reviews for Wrest Point
Review 1:Nothing.
Review 2:The staff in all areas housekeeping, hospitality, porters, reception, security were friendly and provided exceptional customer service. We were on the fifth floor with great views of the mountains. Our room was a great size clean and the bed confortable. The views from restaurant and bars across the bay were fantastic. We enjoyed being out of the busy CBD, its only a $10 taxi ride to Salamanca and the CBD.The staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was fantastic, thank you.
Review 3:MINI BAR - I HAD small bottle of wine and a small juice - cost me 28.50 - it is a crime.
Review 4:Friendly staff and location. Room still had a good view despite being towards hills.
Review 5:There was a mix up with information delivered from Booking.com to Wrest Point. We booked and paid for a king bed and this was not initially provided until I contacted reception and the staff changed us to the type of room booked. They advised that this miscommunication happens a lot so I suggest you review your booking system and what is communicated to the accommodation provider.
Review 6:Staff very helpful and beautiful views.
Review 7:Casino sometimes a little hard to get on the tables
Review 8:We travel to Hobart a couple of times a year and always stay at West Point just a great location great harbour views great restaurants
Review 9:Friendly staff, every staff member that walked past had a lovely smile making us feel very welcome. Great fresh brekkie for room service. Good secure parking
Review 10:I found the cost of most restaurant menu items on the more expensive side, including room service and the mini bar. There is a less expensive snack bar option however.
Review 11:We had a great view of the river. Room was nice and comfortable.
Review 12:Double check the charges on your bill. We nearly got charged double for the same time period 'by accident' under credit card fees. It is easy to miss charges when checking out if you aren't on the ball so be careful. We weren't really offered an explanation as to why the system charged us twice for the accommodation either which was a bit poor.
Review 13:Good location just outside the main city. Lovely views and plenty of food options at the rooms door step. Reception staff were flexible with requests.
Review 14:We had trouble with our shower head and therefore had water all over the bathroom floor - even though it was replaced there was no replacement bath mat left so we had to use one of our towels on the floor
Review 15:Friendly staff Close to waterfront - able to go for a walk
Review 16:no toothpaste and slippers in the room
Review 17:Good location, beautiful view to the Sandy Bay and sunrise. Close to the restaurants and super markets, drive within 5 minutes, many choices especially Chinese food.
Review 18:Decore dated, shower door difficult to open. Some other shops would have been interesting to look through.
Review 19:The delightful staff and location. Brilliant views. Staff couldn't have been more helpful particularly when I mentioned my disabled mum.
Review 20:We were in Hobart for the. Finish of the Sydney to Hobart because our son was competing and the hotel was in a great location for us and our rooms had a good view of the river
Review 21:Too far from city centre. You can't walk back and forward all the time. We did it 3/6 times. Rooms a bit 1980 style.
Review 22:Good sized rooms. At least on 15th floor. Toilet/shower room good size, clean and modern. Handy for Casino - if that's your thing.
Review 23:Our room was in the old building. It seemed so far away from main area. Maybe when choosing a room I would have liked to know location of rooms .View was ok had ducks and rabbits in garden
Review 24:Variety of resturants to choose from . Free wifi and movies
Review 25:Due to a busy season, I was given a room to the side of the casino. Nice but a bit overpriced. Great pillows and King bed and pretty views over the harbour. 2nd night was less than nice. Placed in the 3 star motel saw a price reduction of only $30 pn. No lift. Pillows not as nice and the plumbing is less than average. The taps go in opposite directions and the shower sprays everywhere, wetting clothes taken into the room even with the shower door closed. Burned myself in the shower. Way too costly for a 3 star.
Review 26:Due to a busy season, I was given a room to the side of the casino. Nice but a bit overpriced. Great pillows, linen and King bed and pretty views over the harbour.
Review 27:The WiFi is absolutely hopeless. Can't imagine why they haven't install any signal enhancers around the building. We stay on level 9 and couldn't even successfully connect to the wifi spot. So disappointing.
Review 28:Friendly staff, various facilities available. Reasonable price.
Review 29:Our 4 meals (2 of our friends) we ordered 35 min wait at the Loft Bistro, neither of us enjoyed "not up standard" for the price you pay.
Review 30:Casino was good and our breakfast the next morning excellent.
Review 31:We were booked into Pier One Restaurant for dinner at 7.30 for a special occasion and on arrival we were shown to our table with the waitress commenting she would be back with water. We waited 20 minutes without service and without water then walked out in utter disgust and nobody approached us on why we leaving the Restaurant. Very disappointed.
Review 32:The building needs a serious overhaul, the rooms are very dated in appearance and expensive for what you get. The dress code is not advertised until you arrive, feels out of place for such a run down looking motel
Review 33:The staff are friendly and the views are great. Available pool and sauna facilities is nice.
Review 34:We had lunch down on the jetty and even though there was hardly any people the service was slow and we only ordered the seafood chowder and that took a long time to be served and it was watery and tasteless, I have this were ever I go and this was the worst I have ever had.
Review 35:The staff other then the jetty cafe are very friendly and helpful, the revolving restaurant was excellent and the staff there are 1st class. The people parking my car were always on the ball and did the job with a smile. Overall another great stay.
Review 36:The room that we stayed on first night and second night is different. First night is old but second night is newer with recent renovation. Service is considered poor when we request something response is slow.
Review 37:Availability of Casino
Review 38:Mattresses too soft. Firm mattresses are important to avoid back problems. Should offer slim, skinny pillows as well. Newspaers (from mainland Australia) should be provided gratis as well as the local paper.
Review 39:Rooms in the Tower have modern facilities. Good design, comfortable, and with good views.
Review 40:Going downstairs to Guest Services to book two seats on the bus to Salamanca market at 10am, only to be told that the bus had left at 9.30am. Explained to the male that the in house brochure advised the buses left at 9 and 10 am on Saturday. Advised that things change and the attitude was "too bad'. Two other couples overheard our matter and spoke to us later and voiced their disappointment as they were there for the 10am bus as well. Showed the male the in house brochure some 3 hours later and he said that he had also seen the brochure and mistakes happen. It was this same male that could not answer our queries as to stores in Hobart. The woman in the Gift Shop across from the Services Desk was most helpful and provided the advice that we required in a matter of minutes.
Review 41:The staff on the door, reception, the revolving restaurant and Pier One. The standard of service and the professionalism displayed by all these people makes Wrest Point what it has been for us over the many years that we have been staying there.
Review 42:Nothing really, all was good.
Review 43:It was a fun week end with great friends, and we hadn't been to Tassie before. We loved all the beautiful little cafes. Mona was amazing and Mt.Wellington was awesome. The Wrestpoint Casino was ok but needs modernizing.
Review 44:I didn't like the hours that the resturants closed I think it's a bit early considering when you are on holiday some people prefer later dinners
Review 45:The rooms were very comfortable it catered for all your needs and clean.
Review 46:Buffet breakfast was a bit tired and food was not something you will return to. We were rushed cleaning up as staff were getting ready for next serving I suppose.
Review 47:Reception was outstanding & straightforward, rooms were clean
Review 48:There was nothing we didn't like, our stay at Wrest Point was incredibly enjoyable.
Review 49:Exceptional service from the moment we drove to the front entrance and met Dale on Thursday 03/12/2015 who helped us park our car and rescorted us to our room. Nothing was too much trouble I can honestly say I have never encountered service like this before.Even when I wanted to photgraph the rabbits sitting on the lawn a staff member took time out to help me find the best advantage point. Thank you so much
Review 50:Breakfast not include in the rate was very expensive, table service waiters were waiting to pounce on your empty plate to remove it they were like Hawks
Review 51:Room nice but a fair bit of outside noise
Review 52:- Restaurant and room service food was average. -Struggled to get a meal on first night of stay. Was advised "leavers" had booked hotel out (not sure what that meant). Seemed unusual not to be able to be served a meal as a guest of hotel. Had to wait until after 9pm for diners to clear, although hotel didn't seem too busy. - When eventually able to be seated, meal served was raw and had to be returned. No charge was made for the two meals returned though. - Some staff offhand, eg when presenting a breakfast menu, one staff member was pleasant and accepted the order, another said, "we don't accept those here, leave it on your door." - Area we stayed in was jaded. Hotel could do with a revamp.
Review 53:Some staff friendly and helpful.Lady on checkout counter particularly so.
Review 54:Unable to use the pool due to no safety mats at the side of the steps.I would have appreciated a sloping floor entrance to the pool,as I am disabled.
Review 55:Staff were all very pleasant and extremely helpful
Review 56:Such a convenient place to stay. We could walk to Salamanca Market, have breakfast, lunch or dinner without leaving the casino, it was really up to us!
Review 57:We were there for the cricket dinner. Impossible to get a pre dinner drink perhaps would have been better to seat guests and serve allocated wines at the table. The meal wasn't value for money.
Review 58:Comfortable bed. Morning paper a nice touch.
Review 59:How old and tired everything looked it felt like maybe 20 years ago this was a nice place to stay but its in serious need of an upgrade. The room was totally 80s.
Review 60:Wrest point was 300 dollars a night and felt like a total rip off. The room was old as was the venue the windows didn't open further than an inch, the view was good but blurred through the filthy windows not worth a cent over 200 dollars per night.
Review 61:Just getting a little outdated decor and building wise
Review 62:Loved our stay convient as we were going to a function there staff wonderful restaurants wonderful great place to stay
Review 63:Plumbing needs to be looked at. It was very noisy. We were in room 329. Tables in the coffee shops were too close so people had to really squeeze past which makes it hard these days as more and more people are overweight.
Review 64:Easy access around the facility. Bed was comfortable and pillows lovely and soft
Review 65:Nothing wrong per say... I do like staing at higher enf properties, and overall I do not mind paying for the superior experience. I found the property is a bit overpriced about 25 to 35 percent, perhaps because it is a casino; but the purpose of my visit was turism. The property is nice, clean, and the staff professional... I would however not stay there again at the same price... so know that there is a premium to be paid for the location and views, but it does not offer comensurable quality accomodations. The Restaurant at the 17th floor is overpriced, due to the superb views, alas, the food quality while acceptable is not upmto par with its price. Again, nothing wrong with the property, and would only stay there again if there is a promotional offer.
Review 66:Loved the location, and the staff is very friendly... The views from the rotating restaurant floor is unparalleled.
Review 67:Booked because it had a swimming pool but pool a bit small to swim in. Also did not realise it was a casino so lifts noisy when trying to sleep.
Review 68:View from my room was awesome. Bed very comfortable
Review 69:Overpriced and out of date - need a make up Also a bit far feom the main attractions.
Review 70:Overpriced - a bit out of date. I paid $200 per night which I could stay closer to the Salamanca Markets. You need a car cause you cannot walk to the main attractions.
Review 71:Room not well ventilated. We also had an unfortunate experience with another ? patron - not the fault of the venue however they attempted to access our room very late at night. Only one chair for two people, with the tariff paid surely there could have been one each!
Review 72:Friendly receptionist when we arrived
Review 73:Very expensive restaurants, not worth the prices. Had to drive to find places to eat elsewhere.
Review 74:Very comfortable beds. Staff very friendly yet professional and willing to help.
Review 75:Bit dated. Room quire noisey. Toilet made weird noise thru out the night!
Review 76:Location was excellent. All staff we came across friendly. Casino great. View from room was fantastic.
Review 77:Was a little disappointed with our evening meal, but having said that, we were tired and not really in the mood to eat so we simply ate at the cafe in the gaming room - we had other choices available to us that we didn't use.
Review 78:Bathroom, although well equipped, is very small. Toilet "haunted" ! Randomly flushing throughout the night nd disrupting sleep.
Review 79:Good location and view
Review 80:parking so far away from your room and the all you can eat breakfast was very disappointing
Review 81:great staff, nice rooms, pool is nice, beds are great had a wondfull nights sleep
Review 82:The room was depressing , I felt like I was in a hospital . Curtains , carpet , paint , the lift were all very old . The bathroom was thank goodness ok .
Review 83:Staff were very friendly and helpful .
Review 84:The view from our room was of a gigantic tree even though the receptionist told us we had a beautiful view of the river. The room way over priced for the old section of the Casino where we stayed.
Review 85:Pier One not as good as before in service. Wines on list not available, but Manager made restitution. Initially given wrong room, corrected when I reported another name on our key folder.
Review 86:View from room.
Review 87:High prices for drinks and serious lack of eating facilities on a night which staff knew was going to be busy, surely large groups (40+) could be serviced in private function rooms rather than monopolise one of the few restaurants limiting use by public and guests. Non-enforcement of dress standards, compared with overseas 5* hotels very disappointing and must be noticed by overseas guests.
Review 88:Front of house staff, excellent, friendly both at check-in & check-out, all staff on floor friendly and helpful.
Review 89:booking.com had not confirmed our stay with wrest point. we were not booked in.
Review 90:front desk clerk was very helpful. sorted out our booking and matched our price from our confirmation sheet. even though there was not a booking.
Review 91:No dislikes whatsoever.
Review 92:The staff were definitely the highlight of our stay. Their friendliness and eagerness to please were so refreshing. There was always a solution to a problem, whilst questions, concerns or requests were met with the utmost urgency and care. I can easily say that I have never encountered such impeccable customer service. They should all be very proud of the work they achieve, as it is they who make the location brilliant.
Review 93:Definitely embarrassing using the same lift from the pool to your room with people dressed well to go dine staring should be a separate lift for guests only.
Review 94:Friendly staff and clean rooms, lots of entertainment available
Review 95:Great place to stay the people who work there can't do enough for you they always make you feel welcome lovely clean room they get serviced daily My partner and l go back there once a year
Review 96:We got upgraded to the tower and didn't ask for it. Great reception. Nice people thank you. Just a shame the pokies don't know how to give back ha ha.
Review 97:breakfast is all old tinned food reheated several times during the week, the only fresh food is the milk
Review 98:room was clean, beds are comfortable, check in is fast, reasonable price for a good location good pressure in the shower and hot water is very HOT,,, overall it's good here .
Review 99:Pillows were uncomfortable which meant not much sleep. I suppose I could have contacted reception to get different pillows but who can be bothered in the early hours of the morning.
Review 100:Lovely views from the Harbour View room. Good choice of restaurants. Helpful and friendly staff (mostly). Everything you need under one roof. Easy drive to Hobart CBD if you want to go shopping.
Review 101:we were in an old part of the building to the side very old, carpets grubby, lift very dirty. when you walked through the hall to the foyer it was like a different place. much nicer.
Review 102:view and listening to the ducks. distance to city.
Review 103:Pillows a little soft, no big deal, rest great.
Review 104:First stay got upgraded to better room, next stay three nights later arrived without reservation, no problems.
Review 105:The all you can eat eatery was very disappointing the food served up was left over from lunch. The price was over the top for what was available to eat. Will not eat there again. When booking through booking.com the room offered was very deceiving. The photo showed two beds, I requested twin beds at time of booking. When l arrived l was told it was one queen and one single. Then when I advised that was not what I was led to believe the woman said that she was upgrading me to the main tower !!! Well let's just say all along that its was I believed I has booked. However it was not, l was actually booked to stay in another area of the casino, not the casino as one is led to believe. Whilst checking out another person was advised the same thing. Shame on you for not being clear on exactly what people are booking !!!
Review 106:The Riverview eatery was value for money and delicious menu.
Review 107:the only thing we could fault, was that the pillows were not very good. also didnt like the fact you had the shower over the bath.
Review 108:on arrival, we were told that we had been upgraded and they allowed us to get in earlier than usual, so we had a beautiful view of the mountain and harbour from the 14th floor, housekeeping staff very good, always checking to see if we needed anything.
Review 109:I have stayed in the main tower before, was excellent, but this stay was in a unfamiliar part, which has water damaged carpets, smelly elevators and no outside access.
Review 110:Location, service, food were great,
Review 111:found buffet meal the only average thing about our stay poor selection of hot food roast was good this is only my opionion
Review 112:friendly staff room clean room service meals very good
Review 113:Magnificent view of Harbour It hit us as soon as we walked in our room. There is a variety of places to eat and drink in the complex. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be back to stay in Wrest point we really enjoyed our stay here.
Review 114:Was upgraded upon arrival to the front of the tower, amazing view and great room with awesome facilities. Free Wifi. Room Service is prompt and I took full advantage of the gym, pool and sauna
Review 115:At the time of booking, it was not clear that the room we got was on the extension wing of the hotel, and not in the main hotel area though the wing is part of the hotel and is connected to the hotel through an inside hall way, a lift and stairs. The hall way was cold. Due to the difference in temperature between the warm room and the cold hall way as well as the long walk from the reception/entrance to the room, I caught a common cold. The main part of the hotel is very nice - having stayed there many times in the past.
Review 116:The Staff were very good, friendly, efficient, helpful (Concierge, reception, guest service, porter). Also, lovely water views from the room.
Review 117:Staff were very friendly and helpful, would recomend the revolving restaurant to anyone looking for that very special meal. Food was excellent and the service even better.
Review 118:Second night couldn't sleep because of excessive noise from room beside us to the point that we had to complain to the desk after about 2hrs of screaming swearing fighting was terrible n for about $275 a night found this very poor.
Review 119:Love the location friendly staff food casino love walks to take
Review 120:Absolutely nothing to criticise.
Review 121:The staff were not only professional, but we're attentive when we asked questions. In the bistro, Erica, Timothy and another lad whose name escapes me, we a credit to you business. That also includes Customer service. The staff at the revolving restaurant we amazingly welcoming ad their attention to service was wonderful.
Review 122:Cold draught when walking from main building to waterfront rooms
Review 123:Very helpful and friendly staff and excellent system whereby you earn points for all your spends and qualify for rewards I.e.free meals and also cash refunds
Review 124:Overall a fantastic stay. We got upgraded to a king room with a harbour view which was amazing. Wifi great. Car parking great. Services great. Pillows terrible!!too soft.
Review 125:Thought dress code in the buffet was a little to strict..my son had brand new designer track pants on but they weren't allowed. Beanies and flatcaps we're allowed. Couldn't work that one out.
Review 126:Best shower I've ever had.
Review 127:Food quality wasn't as good the second day as the first.
Review 128:Staff were very welcoming. Provided wheel chair for the length of stay for our Pop. Always happy to help.
Review 129:We were very disappointed with the layout of the coffee shop restaurant booked a table for two seating was very uncomfortable also the selection of Tasmanian wines very bad and meal selection disappointing
Review 130:Very happy with view and the style of the room staff were lovely and very helpfull
Review 131:Only problem was the pillows were far to soft using one and too high using two. I usually travel with my own pillow I forgot this trip but it did not spoil the night
Review 132:Great staff. Excellent food. Really great relaxing night with friend having a few whiskies and a couple of games of keno with limited success and a fiddle on the porkies again with a small win
Review 133:As the reason for our trip to Hobart was to see a medical special, it wasn't exactly a pleasure, however, Jan at reception made it enjoyable by being so flexible and giving us alternatives. It was great to meet a friendly and fun person at the end of our day.
Review 134:room heating a bit confusing, dried eggs/bacon from sitting under heated lights at breakfast for way too long, breakfast toaster settings making toast like warm bread
Review 135:customer service, cleanliness, comfort, valet service, quite rooms
Review 136:Inside of fridge had congealed milk and hadn't been cleaned properly. Bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned properly nor had shower and shower screen.
Review 137:Views...executive room
