Reviews for Logement de Gaaper

Review 1:The park house is a little bit far as the hotel located in a walking area in the old city of amersvoort

Review 2:Just excellent. Our host is super friendly and unbelievable helpful. He really considers everything for you and you find that he knows what you need even better than you yourself! Great host and my best experience of hotel in Netherlands!

Review 3:The church bells nearby in the square a quite load and the main street can be noisy with bin lorries early in the morning, but in fairness, you are provided with throwaway ear plugs if required. I've stayed a few times and it doesn't put me off.

Review 4:Large double room, good WiFi, central to all of the bars and restaurants in the nearby square and main shopping street and an excellent breakfast!

Review 5:No bad experiences, there are no facilities as such, which is fine as its on the town square.

Review 6:The room was lovely, clean, simple, ideal. The staff are welcoming and friendly. I think the price is superb. Breakfast was lovely. Very nice family run place.

Review 7:The church bells nearby are quite loud, but you're supplied with disposable ear plugs if required - although it didn't put me off and I'd stay again.

Review 8:Fab location,an interesting old building and good quality breakfast.

Review 9:All good

Review 10:Very central in main square but quiet. Good sized room but ours was a deluxe room. We travel with small bags but if you have big bags stairs might be a problem.

Review 11:Not been told that I would have to negotiate the most dreadful stairs to access my room and then having to force the staff to collect my bag on leaving - even though the documentation advised that you should call to have bags collected. I was also not advised that the location was directly opposite a square popular for markets during the day and pop-up restaurants and night clubs during the evening. Providing guests with ear plays is not deemed suitable. The breakfast was also very ordinary with no cooked breakfast been offered on the Saturday morning (my last morning). This was probably because I insisted on getting help with my bags

Review 12:Parking at Flintplein was a hike. We reserved a double and was given a triple on the highest floor. The toilet was outside the room. Portholes for windows was on one side of the room with street lamps on all night from the square.

Review 13:Located near restaurants, cafes and shops. Taxi to the airport around 8 euros, bus cost 2,50 euros per person. Early morning departure allowed taxi in the square for pickup.

Review 14:Shower room had a bit of a drains smell about it in the mornings. Suspect this is caused by the water in an "S" bend waste pipe accidentally being syphoned out by the plumbing system usage and configuration. Such a problem can be difficult to trace the cause and remedy, so you have my sympathy.

Review 15:Friendly helpful staff.

Review 16:Location and warm welcome. Delicious breakfast. Room was basic but spacious and comfortable. Amersfoort is a picturesque medieval town that I would recommend to any tourist to visit, and this accomodation is located right in the square. We were on bikes so can't comment on availability of parking.

Review 17:We booked a room with city view, expecting a nice view on the Hof place, but were given the room under the roof with only tiny windows - the room, besides that, was very spacious and comfortable. The stairs may also be too steep for persons with reduced mobility or heavy luggages.

Review 18:Spacious, comfortable and quiet room, very friendly staff and excellent location!

Review 19:The noise from the Square disturbing our sleep (even though we had ear plugs Ps, Silcone ones are more effective)

Review 20:Lovely old historical place, great staff, and central location.

Review 21:Overcharged for my room, paid 83 euros a night, but hotel information said 75 a night. I paid up front too with no refund possible. Towels not changed in 3 days, floor never cleaned either

Review 22:Location good, but also bad. They supply ear plugs but it's still loud with bars and restaurants late at night literally outside your window. Great air-conditioning given the hot weather

Review 23:No elevator, simple room but expect "authentic" and modern do not always go together. Was not expecting luxury. Staff could not find my Bookings reservation. "Air conditioner" in the room isn't one.

Review 24:Location in the town on a main square, great weather made Amersfoort delightful to walk. Helpfull personnel.

Review 25:The hotel is right on the square by the cathedral in the pedestrian part of the city centre. Staff were incredibly helpful throughout the day. Breakfast included bacon and scrambled egg in addition to the usual continental fare. Strongly recommended in all respects.

Review 26:Overlooks main square. Staff excellent and very helpful. Room was very comfortable. Ideal for the market/cafes etc - earplugs provided for the noise which you would expect (not an issue for us as that why we were there).

Review 27:Rooms were very small, but this is Europe and to be expected when you don't go to the main stream hotels.

Review 28:Location in town square was ideal, close to wonderful dining. Charming hotel in a very charming city...the complete experience.

Review 29:The staff at this delightful historical establishment were very helpful and pleasant from the time of my arrival and even after I had checked out. The location right on the pedestrian centre of Amersfoort (de Hof) was a great base for exploring the city and the central part of Holland,

Review 30:Nothing you can blame the Hotel for but about 2 kms to the Train Station.

Review 31:Just about everything was great. Almost impossible to fault and right on the Town Square.

Review 32:Nothing to say.

Review 33:We received a very warm welcome at the end of a long day's cycling. Our bikes were well looked after, the room was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Excellent place to stay! We will be back.

Review 34:because of the central location there is a open mark on Friday morning. This means people started to prepare the mark at 5 o'clock in the morning. The owner of the hotel knows it and they provide earplugs...it would be better to spend some money for double glass for the windows

Review 35:Nice location but...

Review 36:There was nothing to complain about. We loved our stay there.

Review 37:I love the homely atmosphere and excellent location of your place. The staff was most helpful and the room very comfortable with an amazing view of the square.

Review 38:Charming little inn, fantastic location on de Hof, staff are friendly and helpful. I travel to Amersfoort semi-regularly, and de Gaaper will be my new go-to. Lots of stairs, so if you travel heavy, this might not be the place for you.

Review 39:Bell tower every hour from 7:00-23:00 in combination with thin glass can be a problem for light sleepers The rooms were very low, and had a tight feeling Breakfast was meager

Review 40:The staff was excellent The location was perfect for week stays. For friday-sunday stays, there will probably be too much noise

Review 41:I checked in around 16:00, the reception was closed and had to wait for 10 minutes, bear this in mind if you have to check in, call with some anticipation.

Review 42:The staff was really nice and helpful. The location is just perfect, near to the shopping area and very beautiful.

Review 43:The bed in the "double room' actually consisted of two single beds. Not uncommon in the NLs, but still not very romantic. The bed WAS very comfortable though. The coffee at breakfast was a bit weak and not very warm. Especially as breakfast is served a cafe, it would be nice if you could get a proper, freshly made cappucino.

Review 44:We had a very pleasant one-night stay in hotel de Gaaper. The hotel is located at the one of 2 main squares in the historic city centre. De Gaaper feels intimate and is squeaky clean. Breakfast is served in the modern, light-filled cafe on the ground floor. Staff is helpful. We stayed there on a Saterday night (room on the shopping street side) and I did not find it very noisy at all.

Review 45:Lovely location next to the church and on the town square. I could watch the weekend activities from my room. Wonderful restaurants. Very kind host! Loved it and the town.

Review 46:Very good personal service, great attitude to guests. Location in the very city centre with the look at the main square. Nice city and very cozy hotel.

Review 47:The room is not very convenient for tall people...low ceiling...at leastin my room

Review 48:Excellent location! Very kind and helpful staff! Great value for money!

Review 49:The market on Friday morning and the resulting noise during the night.

Review 50:Very friendly staff, great location in the city center. A note in the room mentioning the market on Friday mornings and ear plugs to help you sleep better. Nice old building.

Review 51:Our room was too close to the cafes on the square, noise and music until very late. Ear plugs were provided but were not sufficient. We should have asked for another room or they should improve isolation in this one.

Review 52:The room was very comfortable and clean, bathroom very clean with consumables, staff very helpful, breakfast was variate. Ear plugs are offered in case you are easily disturbed. Location is in the exactly in the city center, also near(5 minutes tops) to a bus station from the train station.

Review 53:The square outside was quite noisy with bars until early hours then the market traders started to erect stalls abt 4am. On top floor which if u have lot of luggage or disability could be problem.

Review 54:Nice friendly and very helpful staff. Good breakfast.

Review 55:Nothing!

Review 56:The staff were excellent and very, very kind. We were travelling by bike and the lady couldn't have been more helpful about storing the bikes. Breakfast was good and the room was clean. Ours looked on to the square, we heard no noise but then it wasn't the weekend. There were earplugs provided for noise, which we thought was very thoughtful! Super location and a good small hotel in an old building.

Review 57:Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable and clean bedroom and bathroom

Review 58:Fresh toiletries in the room would be a plus

Review 59:Great location - right in the heart of the town

Review 60:Open-air market is on Friday and Saturday mornings in the main square.

Review 61:friendly staff

Review 62:Little bit noisy, but ear plugs provided

Review 63:Good value for money

Review 64:Some noice from the shopping site of the street.

Review 65:Great location in the center of Amersfoort.

Review 66:Extremely helpful, friendly staff.

Review 67:Romantic hotel, great location, super friendly staff, awesome breakfast!

Review 68:Nothing.

Review 69:Excellent location in the centre of Amersfoort. Super friendly welcome. Nice room.

Review 70:Difficult to get suitcases up stairs

Review 71:Location, friendly staff, large clean room & great breakfast

Review 72:Friendly and accommodating staff. Clean, comfortable facilities and a great view over the square from our bedroom. What more do you need?

Review 73:just lovely

Review 74:Location is great, close to all transportation.

Review 75:Everything -- cute place in a historic building, lovely location, wonderful staff, couldn't do enough to help you.

Review 76:The noise of the markets being set up at 3.30am on both Friday & Saturday.

Review 77:Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Review 78:Noisy windows.

Review 79:Very nice staff, perfect location.

Review 80:not a posh hotel, but OK

Review 81:location

Review 82:We liked being right on the small city square! Charming church bells, quaint restaurants, bakeries and shops.

Review 83:Have a look at the Hof on Sunday morning

Review 84:The church bells

Review 85:The bars and restaurants around the square

Review 86:Stairs :-)

Review 87:Location

Review 88:location is really good

Review 89:Excellent location and very nice staff. Charming small hotel. The terrace for smokers is enjoyable

Review 90:Excellent service and location

Review 91:Nice hotel in the heart of Amersfoort! Good breakfast and helpful staff.

Review 92:Nothing

Review 93:Great place to stay right in centre of town very competitive prices breakfast lovely

Review 94:The most charming city in which i've been.

Review 95:The friendly staff who obviously care about their guests and the excellent welcome

Review 96:Central location in the old town. Very warm welcome from Nina. Clean and comfortable. Pleasant staff. Hairdryer and euro plugs available from reception.

Review 97:Would have to be very fussy to think of anything.

Review 98:Great room with good outlook. Excellent breakfast and very obliging staff. Felt at home here. Beautiful town with not too many tourists.

Review 99:They set up the plaza in the early morning hours so banging hammers at0400 can be disruptive even to the heaviest sleeper

Review 100:Location is directly in the square. Outdoor restaurants are plentiful. The staff was super friendly.

Review 101:Can be bit noisy on the weekend and with the church bell but then I would take that as part of the experience staying close to town center.

Review 102:Great location, staff and concept

Review 103:Not really a hotel, more like a B n B - with a cafe downstairs. Breakfast was chaotic, only 1 member of staff to serve 14 people - no clean tables, food was average. I would not stay there again

Review 104:GOOD LOCATION, in the historic center of Amserfoort

Review 105:Earplugs were given for the city noise, but were actually needed because the rooms are very poorly insulated... one can hear footsteps and talking in the hall as well as people entering their rooms etc.

Review 106:the location

Review 107:Warning. As it is right in the centre it can be noisy outside. If you think thus might be a problem Do request Earplugs from staff when checking in as there is no 24hr reception. Not suitable if you are not very good with stairs. This is in one of the oldest buildings in Amersfoort There is no lift and stairs are steep. G

Review 108:Great location. Friendly staff. Lots of great places to eat very close by.

Review 109:Nothing really.

Review 110:I had the loveliest view from my room ever. The town square was on the palm of my hand. Nice little hotel and a very pleasant stay and with nice story. I warmly recommend it.

Review 111:A few more hooks to hang coats on. One bar in the square was open til 1am on a Sunday night. I think the Town Council should have an earlier curfew that night.

Review 112:Terrific hotel, 2nd time of staying and still great. Lovely staff and very comfortable room. Excellent location. Great bars and restaurants nearby and so many bikes! Perfect.

Review 113:Be prepared for noice during night/early morning from the square outside, espesially Friday and Saturday nights. Earplugs provided so not a problem.

Review 114:Quirky old hotel, love the laid back atmosphere.Great location everything on is on your doorstep. Friendly and very helpful staff.

Review 115:Location of the hotel in the city centre at one of the central squares was perfect. Very friendly staff with good knowledge of the city and places to eat or drink.

Review 116:Bit small bathroom, simple sanitary in toilet (stayed in room 19) Wifi did not work at first, but was then fixed Have to park car 5 minutes walk away (city centre is car-less)

Review 117:Super location in the centre Made a nice breakfast package to take along (I had to leave early)

Review 118:For a business trip location is not very comfortable. I hired a car and is absolutely not possible to park or even stop in front of the hotel to unload the luggage. No elevator.... It was very noisy at night because it is located in the heart of the centre, at the market square. It is nice for joung peolple who want to go out at night, but not if you have to work next day. Heard noise until 6:00.....;(

Review 119:Room was clean and good value for money. Breakfast was great! They even warmed up a croissant for me. Great place for a city trip. Also for a business trip but only during the week. Week-end you have the market just in front of the hotel and at night there is a lot of noise.

Review 120:It's a bit uncomfortable climb the stairs with the lugguage

Review 121:Hospitality and cordiality of the stuff, location and room are perfect, the hotel is really nice

Review 122:Noise is a problem Fri and Sat nights with market. Lights in the Bathroom are too dim. Wi fi did not work in my room for 3 out of 4 days. In fact this 1 hr free then pay Wi Fi is ridiculous.

Review 123:Good Location. Comfortable Bed. Good Breakfast. Good staff
