Reviews for Kamisuwa Onsen Shinyu
Review 1:i think that not having a choice in breakfast was a bit hard for us, as we are not used to eat sushi in the morning.
Review 2:the room was very very big and the view of the lake was just amazing
Review 3:Cleaniness is a boo-boo, as we noticed there are quite a few splash of spots on some of the walls and the mostly on our bed head board. I did not dare to sleep too close to the headboard.
Review 4:All the staff were friendly and helpful. The spaciousness of the room and the view of the lake.
Review 5:As someone who isn't totally familiar with the way minor things work in Japan, like some of the window mechanisms, air purifiers and other gadgets, it took me a little while to figure out the little things, but nothing that negatively affected my stay. I also was a little lost during the meals, as I was unfamiliar with many of the dishes they served, but that's generally expected with ryokan meals, and you should be pretty open-minded when you come to a place like this.
Review 6:I missed my train and arrived after the check-in dinner deadline, but they still allowed me to have the dinner, which was nice. The staff didn't speak all that much English, but they all tried very hard to accommodate me during check-in and meals, which I appreciated. The location is a little quiet and sleepy, but my train rides leaving from Nagoya and heading to Tokyo were both incredibly scenic, so the hotel is almost worth the trip itself.
Review 7:Super attentive staff, and a beautiful interior, calming. the whole place felt like a spa. great onsen baths, and great restaurant
Review 8:Even with some command of Japanese we experienced some difficulties with determing the menu for meals etc.
Review 9:Very traditional Japanese Ryokan experience. Position by the lake very attractive.
