Villa Ducci

Villa Ducci descritpion
Villa Ducci has magnificent, panoramic views over the towers of San Gimignano, and is situated less than one mile from the city center.
The origins of the villa are lost in time. Documents dating back to the 13th century mention a watch-tower at San Biagio. During the following centuries a residential complex was formed around the watch-tower. At the beginning of the 19th century the Ducci family enlarged and transformed the tower into a villa.
An elegant holiday resort since 2003, Villa Ducci is where you are sure to enjoy a memorable stay. Relax on a deck chair while enjoying beautiful views of San Gimignano. When it gets too hot, take a dip in the pool.
The restaurant offers typical Tuscan and Italian fare. During the summer, dinner is served on the panoramic terrace overlooking the city and Tuscan countryside.
Plain, simple furnishings create a feeling of intimacy and coziness in the room.

Reviews for Villa Ducci
Review 1:We don't have hot water in our bathroom. We don't have WIFI. The climasitation in the room doesn't work, The breackfast is very simple. The director of the hotel is rude and dirty.
Review 2:Bed was a little hard and the pillows, as I found throughout Italy, were polyester fill yuck. Fix those small things and it's heaven!
Review 3:The view of the Tuscan countryside and sunrise was unbeatable. The pool was lovely, even if it was chilly. Room was nice and good size. The Breakfast was out of this world good!
Review 4:Loved most everything about Villa Duci! Large, comfortable rooms with an incredible view of San Gimignano. Great and varied breakfast as well, and the grounds were gorgeous with a nice pool, fruit and olive trees and beautiful patio and dining area to eat in! Our favorite place to stay in a two-week trip all over Italy!
Review 5:The evening dinner was pretty poor service, slow and not really attentive but that should not discount from hotel
Review 6:Rooms, location and value were excellent.
Review 7:Not able to get anything to eat if we were there at lunchtime. Seating could be more comfortable. A fridge in the room would be good.
Review 8:Great view....staff very helpful...food very good.
Review 9:No complaints at all - you do however need a car to stay here as too far to walk to San Gimignano.
Review 10:Beautiful Location with amazing views of San Gimingnano - great pool and friendly, helpful staff.
Review 11:Sloping steps to pool not good for this with walking difficulties like my wife on crutches or old knee ligament injuries like myself
Review 12:Great views, boutique feel
Review 13:Bus transporation to the city center was a bit confusing so before you enter a bus make sure to ask that the bus is going to Le Mosse (hotel station), Many busses are not labeled so you can easily get on the wrong bus.
Review 14:All I can say is AMAZING!
Review 15:Excellent location to visit San Gimignano. Great landscape and view over the old city and suroundings. Unforgettable diners and breakfasts on the terrace with great view. The staff was also very professional and welcoming. The Villa Ducci is very well maintained, rooms comfortable and very clean. Great Diner area overseeeing a beautifull pool , much appreciated after a very hot day of visiting.
Review 16:Air con broke down while we were there . Promptly fixed.
Review 17:Fantastic outlook over San Gimignano. Great pool which was important in July. Free Wifi and gluten free options for breakfast. Good location and car parking.Helpful staff.
Review 18:I do not think that room which I booked was a triple room. It is a little bit small. It might be a double room with an additional bed, I think.
Review 19:Very good location with a beautiful view of San Gimignano.
Review 20:Villa Ducci is perfect for a romantic getaway in Tuscany. The Villa itself is beautiful, surrounded by vineyards in the middle of a valley. The pool was amazing, and you can even see San Gimignano from the recliners. The location is very good, you can walk to San Gimignano in about 15 minutes. Our room was very comfortable, with a nice view.
Review 21:The staff were very slow and unfriendly at stages. We often waited half an hour for orders to be taken for food or drinks. Selection for dinner very very poor and literally get the dish with no veg , salad or pasta . Pool was a hike and no toilets so you had to return to reception if needed the loo!
Review 22:The view and rooms were lovely
Review 23:The only thing that we can think of is that the head shower was really unpleasant. Note that you need a car to get anywhere.
Review 24:The pool. Especially when you arrive in one of the hottest days of the year. The view is amazing and the staff is really helpful (they ordered a wine tour for us in 3 minutes notice). The room is nice and there is an A/C which is a necessity in July.
Review 25:Air condition out of order when arriving. No toilet at the pool.
Review 26:View from the terrace with the town and towers in a distance. Good food, rather close to town (not walking distance though).
Review 28:The view from Villa Ducci, either from the poll or the restaurant, is amazing! The atmosphere was relaxed and peaceful. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was in walking distance to San Gimignano, which lets you explore the town before all the bus loads of tourists arrive.
Review 29:The staff was wonderful, very helpful to us when we had trouble. Excellent location for people who wish to travel around. Breakfast is served in a spectacular landscape. We enjoyed every minute of it. The hotel is highly recommended.
Review 30:Would have loved a few more room facilities - like an iron and iron board, a safe, a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. The room itself was lovely and the air conditioning worked well, just pretty stark.
Review 31:Wonderful pool, stunning views, lovely friendly staff, beautiful dinners in the restaurant. In a great location walkable to San Giminginio in about 15 minutes - but that was close enough as the town was very busy in early July.
Review 32:My only niggle was the bed which was two mattresses together instead of one so slightly uncomfortable if lying in the the middle.
Review 33:The grounds and views from of this hotel are stunning and we were delighted to have our own 'villa' room outside the main building near the pool and restaurant. The food in the restaurant is easily as good as the top restaurants in San Gimignano but with a spectacular view of the towers. The staff here are very helpful and charming.
Review 34:The staff weren't rude but neither were they particularly friendly. The shower head pointed at right angles to the bath making it impossible to shower without spilling water all over the floor.
Review 35:Beautiful views over the swimming pool to San Gimignano. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was quite nice and also enjoyed the very large breakfast offering. The room itself was lovely too with big windows and lots of space.
Review 36:Very comfortable, great shower, easy parking, gorgeous views from the restaurant/breakfast room. 2kms to the city centre but not a difficult walk. There is some parking in town if you don't want to walk
Review 37:The noise: the walls between the rooms are drywall, so we must listen all kind of noises, including (load and clear) the TV from next room, the conversations from reception or the water from toilettes.
Review 38:Location, view.
Review 39:This is a beautiful Villa located in the Tuscany country side. The room was large and well furnished with great views of the vineyards, olive orchards and San Gimignano. Beautiful grounds to walk around large swimming pool. Breakfast and dinner were both outstanding. The staff (owners) were very accommodating.
Review 40:Our room was facing road and we could hear some car noise. It wasn't that bad to me but if you are a light sleeper you better ask for different room
Review 41:Everything was nice! Beautiful view. Good location. Staffs were very nice. Chef was also nice to come out to check with all guests. View was amazing
Review 42:loved to be able to open the windows and have fresh air come into the room facility was suberb, staff were very helpful would definitely stay again, and recommend to friends
Review 43:The weather was generally good, but we would appreciate it if the room was a little heated.
Review 44:Nice location, with beautiful vistas. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant is worth a go!
Review 45:The air conditioning in our room was not very cold.
Review 46:The villa was clean and well maintained. We had a corner room and two windows with beautiful views of the countryside. The staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was plentiful. We ate dinner one night at the villa and the food was good.
Review 47:quite expensive, not a lot of service from the staff, the woman during check in was almost rude. you have to pay for the towels at the pool.
Review 48:the view quiet surroudings breakfast with this view :)
Review 49:Accommodations, by American taste, are a bit spartan. Staff don't seem to know a lot about region except for San G. No maps except for San G.
Review 50:Villa Ducci has fantastic views of San G and the countryside and a beautiful pool. The staff speak English reasonably well and are very friendly. Good variety breakfast buffet
Review 51:Nothing
Review 52:The villa has the best view of San Gimignano in the distance. It took 15 minutes to walk to the old city. The facilities at the Villa are wonderful. The restaurant served a great variety of food and was reasonably priced, There are many gardens and areas for a quiet drink outside of your rooms. Staff were great.
Review 53:Pool too small for proper swims, walking along the roadside is unprotected from traffic for the first 200m. Roof terrace a great resource- plants here would be nice. Our booking stated there was no internet access- this is not true, it was easy whenever we wanted it.
Review 54:Rural location and ease of walking to the town (we did not find this a problem). Views from our room were tens of miles around, and we could watch the sun rise. Breakfasts on the terrace were great- good food and wonderful views. Pleasant, laid-back atmosphere.
Review 55:Facilities in the room were poor. No phone.TV was not working. Luck of Wi-Fi. Seaf serving breakfast not well orginase. We had to walk through the reception to the next room get a food. Hotel is lucking of character.
Review 56:Location.
Review 57:Absolutely nothing
Review 58:Location, spectacular postcard view from villa. Comfort. Waiter Dominique was an exceptional character and his friendliness and knowledge were a hi light of our stay.
Review 59:Only the internet which is not excellent. But in one place like that you should not waste your time on the internet.
Review 60:Everything was excellent. The place has a great view from San Giminiano. The team was always very kind and the breakfast very good.
Review 61:The views from the hotel restaurant and pool of San Gimignano were amazing. The food was excellent, both our evening meal and the breakfast. We stayed just one night and I really wish we had stayed longer.
Review 62:Charge of pool towels very unnecessary. Carpaccio open to interpretation. Bread was stale and serving prawns in foil unexpected.
Review 63:Friendliness of staff food excellent. Outstanding views.
Review 64:This is a wonderful little hotel, the views over the Tuscan countryside and San Gimignano are like a romantic painting. All of the staff was polite and helpful and really welcoming. The hotel and rooms and all the surroundings are impeccably clean. The food is very good and we can recommend the house wine. The pool area is great for relaxing or playing, but never got too loud while we were there. The whole place has an air of calmness about it. Definitely our favorite after almost 2,5 weeks around Italy. We had a room on the top floor and because of the style of the building the windows were a bit strange, very low and making the room a bit dark. But this is not a problem at all. This is not a place were you spend a lot of your time in your room since there are so many other areas to relax in comfort.
Review 65:It was located some way from the town so you have to drive and leave the car in a car park outside the walls. On the other hand it had a lovely view of the town from a nearby hill. The breakfast could have been better eg fresh fruit salad
Review 66:It had a great pool which you need after sightseeing. Dinner was good and service with a smile
Review 67:Interior décor a bit sparse a la IKEA and not very cosy. Pool down a steep hill, difficult for people with walking difficulties.
Review 68:Comfortable air conditioned room with superb view over San Gimignano. Standard buffet breakfast and very good dinner with decent value local wines. Cold lunch on request. Friendly helpful staff. Good sized pool. Ample free parking.
Review 69:Wonderful location, walking distance to San Gimignano - the perfect distance from the very crowded walled city. Very scenic location in the rolling hills of Tuscany and convenient to many surrounding sites - Siena, Monterossa, Volterra, and even Florence, Lucca and Piza. The dining room fare was wonderful as was our charming room. We will be back!
Review 70:Not advisable to attempt to walk to San Gimignano, as there is no footpath for quite a while, and the road is quite busy. Would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room.
Review 71:The setting in the Tuscan countryside. The view from our room was excellent. The pool, the food, everything was excellent.
Review 72:Dinner was not good at all. We were debating if it was the worst or the second worst food we had while traveling in italy. They charged us Euro 3 per day per pool towel. We weren't aware of this until we were checking out. There was a surprise charge of Euro 18 when checking out. It was odd. Walls are very thin. Our room was very basic. Bathroom was even more basic. No counter space. Odd shower. Location is beautiful but probably will not be staying there again.
Review 73:Location. Beautiful scenery. Nice pool. Breakfast was typical but nice dining room with wonderful view. San Gimignano is fairly close. Probably little too far to walk on a hot summer day. Staff very nice and friendly.
Review 74:1. The Room is little small and a bed against the door of bathroom
Review 75:1. With a nice view of Tuscany in Canteen, can see San Gimianor as well 2. The reception are kindly as well
Review 76:The food at their restaurant was not as good as what we had at other restaurants in the area. The waiter appeared to be doing everything. In addition when we asked for the bill the waiter told us it would be added to our room. When it was time to pay for the stay i noticed the cost of the meal was considerably more than we expected, considering what we ate. Word of warning!!! Ask to see your bill regardless if you want it added to your room.
Review 77:Very nice and quite place with a nice pool to relax after a day of sight seeing. We had a great view of the Tuscany hills from our room. A very helpful and friendly staff. I would stay their again but i would not eat there.

Review 108:Location was good and rooms were spacious.
Review 109:Very friendly staff
Review 110:It is a bit away from the city center so you can have a distant view of it and the surrounding Tuscany area.
Review 111:The view is amazing!
Review 112:Quiet location Clean room Good breakfast selection
Review 113:Orange juice that was served at breakfast was spoiled.
