Reviews for Hotel de Tabaksplant
Review 1:we didn't like how we were treated during the check-out. We asked for 20 more minutes to leave the apartment but the request was roughly denied and they almost kicked us out of the room because it needed to be cleaned.
Review 2:We really appreciated the staff's kindness and willingness to help us.
Review 3:awkward staff. Not all but some.Awkward owner but then his property.Well you can't compare every cities with Amsterdam..fair enough.I don't expect too much since I consider it as a village.I was there for a purpose but I won't consider staying there next time.
Review 4:Nothing much actually.
Review 5:Stairs - but every hotel in Europe has the same problem.
Review 6:This charming hotel is in an excellent location within Amersfoort's old city walls, very close to the main shopping area. The rooms have very comfortable beds, and showers with decent water pressure, which was a nice discovery after a month of weak British plumbing. Very friendly and helpful staff. Parking was no problem at the nearby Theatre car park. It was very secure and the hotel provides discounted exit tickets. Lovely stay and will definitely return.
Review 7:Like in too many hotels and B&B there was very little places were we could hang our clothing and stuff to dry them out (after laundry or rainy day).
Review 8:Reception was very prompt and (English speaking) staff extremely friendly.
Review 9:Don't blindly trust your navigation system because it may make you enter the one way street in the wrong direction. I did not like the tile floor, it's colder than a wood or carpet floor.
Review 10:Nice garden area an big rooms, lovely location.
Review 11:being woken up by the fire alarm wasn't great but not the hotel or staff's fault.
Review 12:location close to the busy town centre but hotel quiet with gorgeous courtyard garden and the staff are very professional and friendly
Review 13:Apartment had very steep stairs leading to it - impossible to walk up with a stroller (had to leave it downstairs) and dangerous to walk down carrying a toddler. No parking for the hotel. Paid parking is 8 minutes walk - which is too far in rain and with suitcases or groceries. Charged extra for a baby's cot (90 EUR for 8 nights), which was not specified on the site and took us by surprise with no alternatives. Dishwasher tablets were missing the first day. Once we got them, dishwasher didn't always work. Staff was friendly and trying to help, but got it fixed only after a few days (we received one day breakfast as compensation). Apartment didn't look like the pictures on the site (older and not renovated).
Review 14:Location of Amersfoort is central to Holland attractions. Everything is nearby. Hotel is a short walking distance from multiple restaurants, which are open until late.
Review 15:It was hot when we were there, very hot, so the pleasant Dutch historic settings can be challenging in the extreme heat. Well worth the minor discomfort though.
Review 16:Tabaksplant has a beautiful garden to relax in and is a delightful historic hotel adjacent to the old city of Amersfoort. Our room was an interesting attic room with lots of windows and lovely views over the gardens and rooftops.
Review 17:Leaving room to use bathroom and toilet
Review 18:Loved the decor, hope you can upgrade attic rooms soon so that they correspond with on-line photo's and with the rest of the hotel.
Review 19:The problem is it's just a hotel but they make you feel like it's something rather precious: the sitting down in the office, filling of a form, both our ID's required, 2-3 explanations for the 'breakfast procedure' (yes she used the word procedure), showing us where our bathroom was - in our own room and even where the tea was?! Still, very friendly but totally over engineered and we were relieved when the induction was over. Just a shame the bread basket consisted more of packets of biscuits and crackers rather than different kinds of breads and rolls. The wi-fi was fine but if you left it for more than a minute it would keep re-logging itself back in rather than just staying logged in while your on the premises. Also thanks for our personalised 10% offer letter left on our bed for the next time we come?! But like most people, we're passing through and will probably never come back to Amersfoort.
Review 20:It's a good quality boutique-style hotel with friendly staff and some cosy and charming features including posh toiletries. Our room was cosy with a power shower that looked like something out of Star Trek (I think it was a super-duper massage shower thing). Breakfast consisted of trays of English jams, local meats and cheeses, eggs made to order and all served at the table - wonderful.
Review 21:No real bathroom, just a bath and/or shower, no mirror for washing face. Breakfast not so super Just regular. We had to wait long for our boiled egg.
Review 22:Breakfast room was romantic
Review 23:Very steep staircase to go to the room.
Review 24:This hotel is very nicely located near the city centre of Amersfoort. It's a beautiful old building with well chosen decoration and a good athmosphere.
Review 25:Check in took a very long time (20 minutes!) for some reason? The staffwere very polite and helpful, but the delay was quite confusing, as wehad already booked online. The bathroom was not separate from the roomat all. The shower is encased in clear glass, offering no privacy, andis fully visible from every angle in the square hotel room. The toiletdoor is also clear glass, again, leaving no room for privacy. This maybe okay for some couples, but I would specifically request to not bebooked in this room if we stayed again.
Review 26:Hotel was in a great location. We had a lovely room on the top floorwith nice views of the city. Room was light and spacious, and includedtea/coffee making facilities which is always appreciated. The hotelis very nicely decorated throughout!
Review 27:The yoghurt had a funny taste?!
Review 28:We had a gig in Amersfoort with our band, Elastiek. Upon arrival in the afternoon, we were shown to our room and staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast arrangements, separate large table, were arranged for the next morning. The rooms were comfortable and when we returned to the hotel after our gig we had a couple of drinks in our room to celebrate a successful concert. Apologies to the other guests for being a bit loud... Breakfast was nice, with a good selection of traditional Dutch sandwiches, freshly baked rolls and cheese, ham, eggs, etc.
Review 29:No free parking
Review 30:The building has it's own history as a part of the Amersfoort tobacco industry. The room was warm and had turquoise roof beams! All the staff was very friendly and welcoming. They seemed to be very fond of the city and gladly told us interesting things about it. Breakfast was served at the table. Fresh and tasty!
Review 31:although the hotel was almost empty, it was impossible to give us 2 adjoining rooms; both rooms were poorly furnished (rooms reserved for booking.com?) luckily breakfast made up for this ...
Review 32:location, breakfast, friendly staff
Review 33:Low beds but they were comfortable.
Review 34:Location to town, spacious, nicely appointed room with view of the garden. Good breakfast, friendly staff, tastefully decorated common areas and garden area open in afternoon for drinks and snacks.
Review 35:Parking down the street in a car park (3 mins) away. Not the hotel's fault but just mentioning it for the sake of other travellers. Possibly provide more than one egg at breakfast (maybe there was the option but I was too polite to ask)
Review 36:Excellent staff provided very warm welcome upon our late checking in time. Beautiful dining room and decor throughout. Nice garden at rear Excellent price for basic rooms. The female staff were stunning looking and were very friendly and talkative providing local information about where to go of an evening.
Review 37:Unfortunately I booked a triple room for 1 person, rather than 3 people so when we got there we had a surprise extra payment for the extra people (which no-body wants!) but it was still overall a good price.
Review 38:Clean rooms Fantastic Breakfast! Served to us
Review 39:Stayed in apartment part of hotel. No curtains and noisy street made it a difficult night, but this might have been because had to have windows open with hot weather. No toiletries.
Review 40:Lovely staff and great breakfast, super location.
Review 41:Great hotel with excellent location and very friendly staff who all spoke English. The hotel is very clean and the breakfast was the best....a beautiful table was set for us with a wonderful selection of delicious food to choose from! Our family agreed that the beds were very comfortable and the decor was lovely. Highly recommend!
Review 42:Nothing!
Review 43:I can not recommend this hotel enough. I have never experienced suchhigh customer service from every member of staff, nothing was too muchtrouble. We went to the Assen MotoGP, and on returning to the hotel wetthrough we were helped to get all our luggage off the motorbike by akind lady. Amersfoort had not had any rain! On the day of departure avery nice man checked the weather for us and suggested places for us tovisit. It was not until we left when I was saying how good the servicewas from all the staff that I was informed that the lady and gentlemanwho were waving us off were the owners. The hotel is exceptionallyclean and a 5 minute walk from the centre which is bustling with shops, bars and restaurants. The courtyard garden is beautiful and verypeaceful. Breakfast is a selection of cheeses, cold meats, jams, patesand fresh bread.
Review 44:Very helpful and friendly staff, great internet and location close to everything!
Review 45:Nothing
Review 46:Location, close to the center of Amersfoort . Comfortable and clean. Helpful staff. We loved staying at the Tabaksplant.
Review 47:The location was great. Once we got parked we could walk everywhere.
Review 48:Breakfast was quite poor
Review 49:Location/ walking distance to the old town of Amersfoort
Review 50:Parking was off site, but only a 10 minute walk away.
Review 51:Great room within walking distance of the old city and restaurants.
Review 52:No lift in the hotel you need to carry your laggage upstars on a steap stears
Review 53:Good Location. Friendly helpful staff. Very good shower and good breakfast.
Review 54:The cups were not cleaned and the tea and coffee were not replenished.
Review 55:A lot of steps to climb with our baggage, but it was part of the fun!
Review 56:Comfortable beds, rooms and bathroom very clean.
Review 57:charm of small town, antique and unique qualities preserved in architecture
Review 58:none
Review 59:Lovely old building in great setting.
Review 60:the cute old buildings and nice people
Review 61:It was my birthsday that day so I received a small present:)
Review 62:Elegant, clean, with a boutique feel. Staff were friendly, helpful which all added up to a lovely relaxing few days in Amersfoort. We will return!
Review 63:friendly and understanding staff
Review 64:Charm welcome Nice bedroom Good localization Good breakfast
Review 65:Lack of choice at Breakfast
Review 66:Friendly helpful staff. Best lighting in a Dutch hotel bedroom ever. Central location.
Review 67:Nothing.
Review 68:Everything. Location. Room. People...
Review 69:Great staff rooms fine clean and cheerful
Review 70:Parking in a parking garage away from the hotel, but at close distance and affordable price (max. 8€/day)
Review 71:Nice atmosphere Close to the city centre
Review 72:Location in the middle of the old town is great. Beautiful, quiet garden to relax in with a cold beer. Very helpfull staff, clean, comfortable rooms. Great stop over, will be back for sure.
Review 73:The Wi-Fi signal was really weak in our room, most of the times it wasn't working at all.
Review 74:The room was really clean and well equipped (modern TV, complimentary coffe/teas), the staff was friendly and helpful. It was easy to reach the city center from the hotel.
Review 75:Additional costs like parking (8 €/day) and tourist tax (2 €/day) were not mentioned on the website.
Review 76:Friendly staff, good breakfast, within short walking distance from the historic city centre. Good beds
Review 77:Having to go home :)
Review 78:What was there not to like? :) Staff is very attentive (thank you Jeffrey!). Lovely fresh continental breakfast. Great attention to detail on all fronts, nothing is too much.
Review 79:As in most dutch houses from this period (early 17th century) there are stairs and they are steep. Although this is a known price to pay for such a lovely old house.
Review 80:Fantastically friendly staff, beautiful house and surroundings. The old city gate is just around the corner, as is the main shopping street of Amersfoort. Lovingly warm and a cozy place to stay.
Review 81:Nothing comes to mind - I would stay there again.
Review 82:The friendly staff and the beautiful cobbled street location in the historic old town. The ability to rent a bike easily and for not much money. The great breakfast.
Review 83:Not so easy to park if You arrive late.
Review 84:Very kind staff, very clean and confortable. Just two minutes walking for the "Winkel Straat", the centrum of Amersfoort.
Review 85:Bedroom very small with no place to put clothes, apart from hook on door.
Review 86:Very friendly and helpful staff. Room clean; breakfast not great but adequate.
Review 87:I specifically asked for a quiet room and got a room overlooking the street. Very noisy until around 12.30am. I had room 14 and the room above me on both evenings had noisy guests who walked around and talked until nearly 4am one night. Unfortunately you could hear every footstep as every floorboard in the ceiling creaked. I got very little sleep and for that reason would not stay there again. To book a garden room the price was considerably more with no major benefit other than the noise reduction.
Review 88:Nice old building with pleasant garden and attractive rooms. Staff friendly. Breakfast adequate.
Review 89:The stairs were very steep but that's old Dutch building for you . We were not able to access the internet which may have been down to my husbands I Pad
Review 90:It was convenient to the city centre, it was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. I liked the fact that we had a fridge and tea making facilities
Review 91:The staff were rude. There was no car park available, only a multi story that was a long way from the hotel and cost 6 Euros everytime you used your car. The room was so tiny that there wasn't anywhere to even stand the suit case. There was nowhere at all to hang any clothes. No shelves in the bathroom, not even anywhere to put your soap in the shower. The cleaner never cleaned the room.
Review 92:At the time of our stay, the bathroom had an unpleasant smell that we couldn't get rid off.
Review 93:Nice room, very comfortable beds, friendly and helpful staff, good location - a quiet street yet very close to the centre. Good atmosphere in general.
Review 94:Although there are some squeaky floorboards (which could be resolved by screwing them to the supporting joists) this is a quiet hotel and we slept easily during the day(!) when it was raining regularly and there were no guests in the hotel garden. The room 1.5 would benefit from some coat hooks on the walls, also some insulation on the external wall, as when you're sitting in bed it's a bit cold to your back. The shower would notably benefit from a soapdish (very difficult for preganant guests to bend down and pick up the soap from the floor every time).
Review 95:Easily reached from the railway and bus stations with buses 5, 6 and 7; bus stop near the road named KAMP. In the * larger * bedrooms there are hotplates and cutlery/crockery; with the nearby Aldi supermarket and the hotel breakfasts, we were very comfortable. Staff kindly reheated food for us when needed. There are maps to borrow from a display in the hallway which show where to walk and hike in the nearby countryside. Some downstairs rooms seem to be adapted for guests with reduced mobility.
Review 96:Everything was fine. The rooms with spa shower and jacuzzi are at thesecond floor without elevator, that is not a big problem. Just rememberit if you are booking for someone who has difficulties in doing stairs.
Review 97:Right in the city centre, the staff is very caring. Our room was verylarge and the bed comfortable. If u can, book with breakfast includedcause was definately a good one.
Review 98:Room a little chilly due to large windows and stone floor - however, temperatures were particuarly low and there was snow.
Review 99:Small, well run hotel close to the town centre.
Review 100:Although there was a kettle in the room, there was no tea/coffee/milk or cups..
Review 101:I have stayed at this hotel for a few years, and always enjoy my stay. The staff are always helpful and friendly, and speak very good English which helps.
Review 102:Location opposite the Erotic Cinema was interesting! Otherwise it was very close to the centre of the old city, and apart from a few passers by it was quiet at night - we had a room at street level at the front of the hotel
Review 103:The hotel has been converted from an old Tobacco Trading centre with taste and style, the staff were friendly and helpful, the beds were comfortable, and the shower excellent.
Review 104:very good location, in the city center and within walking distance of many great restaurants. Was a little suprised to see the business (erotic theatre) across the street, but it wasn't an issue. Very quiet street and wonderful breakfast in the morning
Review 105:No lift meant lugging suitcases up steep steps.
Review 106:Charming hotel undergoing major renovation and beautification to restore original features with modern features. In spite of this a activity staff were very helpful ans considerate. We were able to have a beautiful breakfast in the cute and gorgeous garden. Location just outside town wall is fantastic but difficult if you have a car. We loved the hotel and what they are trying to achieve.
Review 107:My room (1.8) was very small and did not have fashionable designer furniture as advertised in some brochures but a very Spartan and basic set of furnishings. Moreover, it seemed somewhat run down (plaster coming off the wall, windows that did not close properly, burnt out light bulbs)
Review 108:Nice building and backyard. Very convenient and quiet location.
Review 109:Car parking in nearby multi-storey car-park . Very minor lack of soap and plastic glasses in bathroom .
Review 110:Attractive old building with character . Very large rooms . Comfortable beds . Good breakfast .
Review 111:Smell of drains in shower room.
Review 112:The ambiance, breakfast and staff.
Review 113:Very clean, spacious and friendly staff
Review 114:bad wireless
Review 115:corrertly
Review 116:Very friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Quiet. Helpful suggestions for restaurants.
Review 117:Breakfast Location Jacuzzi in room
Review 118:Great localization. Hotel is in very good condition, people very friendly, wonderfull breakfeasts.
Review 119:Heating not too effective.
Review 120:Small, well run hotel in ancientnice building close to the town center.
Review 121:I didn't like my pillow!
Review 122:I loved the apartment. When you're out for business for long time, apartment is the best place to stay!
Review 123:Very friendly staff. We were starting a cycling tour and they looked after us very well.
Review 124:Poor reception
Review 125:Very helpful staff, good bicycle storage. The owner gave us a superb mapto help us cycle further to Amsterdam.
Review 126:I felt very welcomed. Everyone I encountered from check in to check out was very friendly.
