Reviews for Taypikala Hotel Lago
Review 1:Little more privacy would be welcomed .In the morning 5 am a person is nocking on all doors ,shouting something in spanish !
Review 2:It's very nice hotel on the shores of lake Titicaca .Very frendly staff ,clean and tidy big rooms .
Review 3:The staff should be better trained. They seem to want to justify that they are not responsible for a problem, rather than trying to solve it.
Review 4:The view over the lake is wonderful
Review 5:Explain several times to the hotel restaurant's hotel to cook your meat better because they don't do it!!!
Review 6:Very nice staff! Heating in the room. Very clean. Great location because you can see the lake and it is better than staying in puno because nothing really much to do there
Review 7:First of all, they do not have a shuttle service to the city centre of Puno, despite the fact that it is 30 minutes away. The taxi fare is 30 soles one way. The staff is not very helpful with all the different problems that may arise, considering that you are in rather an isolated place. For instance, the tours that are offered at the front desk are limited to Uros Islands, Taquile and Sillustani, and they do not provide much extra information if you require. Another point to improve is the dining service. It is only offered until 9pm, despite the fact that many people get the late flight from Lima into Juliaca and arrive at approximately 11pm at the hotel. There isn't even a vending machine! The fact that two members of the staff let us know that something was not their fault before trying to solve the problem did not help our perception of poor staff service.
Review 8:The location is very good with a great view of the lake. All rooms have a view of the lake and they are spacious and comfortable. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are small, but they are ok for a quick dip in the evening before going for dinner. The dining room is also nice, as well as the numerous lounges around the hotel.
Review 9:The hotel offered pool and jacuzzi and none was available. After complaint they filled the pool half way but it was freezing cold. Management need to.organize the restaurant kitchen better. They have big groups and the kitchen staff does not have enough food for the guests. Very bad organized. NOT the foult of the staff but MANAGEMENT
Review 10:The garden was nice even though it was the dry season. The view was beautiful. The staff was humble and apologiesed after maken a mistake which cost me more money.
Review 11:The laundry and hot tub were pretty expensive, and there are not many services around.
Review 12:Beautiful location right on the lake. Impeccably clean. Lovely bed. Sunken tub in room. Great views from room. Good wifi. Nice restaurant. Great tours via Kontiki. Good breakfast.
Review 13:About 18 k outside of Puno or 25 sol in a Taxi. But worth it as Puno is not pretty.
Review 14:The location with beautiful sea views from all rooms. Great for a bit of acclimatisation underestimate altitude at your peril.
Review 15:oxygen service: very bad, please do not say 5 cento per minutes, please say 3 sol for 1 hours, it is cheap, and necessary in such high place, if people die in your hotel because of your oxygen service, it is really aweful for whole puno tour business!!!! if it happen, whole puno will become more poor!!!! 4 stars hotel, must have this service free of charge or not expensive service!!! i hate that hotel because of oxygen service is so poor!!! the rest i really like it. 10 minutes for free that is nothing!!! on the plane, i talked with many america, they do not like there because the altitude, all of them have the same health problem like me, so if you guys want win more tourist, oxygen service must be improved, otherwise no future at all!!!!! you see, many tourist is old man, you think they can sleep well in that place, they suffered a lot, they had headache, they like me, could not sleep, if people can not sleep well, how can they enjoy that place! think about it! for me, i will never go there again, just for your future, for those poor people who live in the flote island, they need tourist, they need help, so for them, i wrote down my opinion, only for those poor people, it is my duty to write down, it is your duty to improve oxygen service, otherwise, you guys will kill the business!
Review 16:bell boy, help a lot
Review 17:We only stayed for 2nights here and had hard time for high altitude. Staffs working are very friendly . They gave us coca tea and medicine for high altitude and letting us use oxygen many times. We felt very warm hospitality.
Review 18:I drove far outside of Puno to enjoy peace, quiet and rest. It is unacceptable to have a ping pong table in the middle of the rooms in a hotel. No matter which floor, you will hear the slamming balls. Children were out of control. Management did nothing.you will be lucky if you experience quiet before midnight. Try taking a bath with banging outside your room!
Review 19:I loved the view, the restaurant, the staff and the overall facilities.
Review 20:The style of the hotel is a bit of a mish-mash and didn't seem to be clear what it was (resort? business centre? meditation centre?). Also had a bit of a challenge with the fact that the spotlights outside the hotel were on all night so they shone through the curtains and brought more light into the room than we woudl have liked.
Review 21:We liked the fact that this hotel was not in Puno even though we'd originally thought it was closer. From what we saw of Puno, we didn't want to see any more as it had an unpleasant vibe. This property is beautiful, and the rooms are wonderful - comfortable beyond belief with a lovely view and great facilities.
Review 22:Ridiculously high prices for additional services: laundry, tours, taxi, etc. - it's better to go to Puno (for 1,5 soles in a colectivo) and DIY; Not much to do around, except visiting the so-called fertility temple in Chucuito - in our opinion the hotel is good for a short stay, charging your batteries, etc.
Review 23:Excellent staff; Big breakfast with a lot of options (also healthy ones); Lake view; Very quiet; Bathtub in our junior suite; Good (but pricey) restaurant
Review 24:having to leave!! :)
Review 25:Best place we stayed in all of Peru amazing views, great spa (takes 2 hours to prep, but we had it all to ourselves) Great and helpful staff. Let us take wine from the bar to rooms and spa. nice rooms, did I mention the views! It was safe and quiet on the edge of a charming little village. Desk arranges tours. Much better place to enjoy Lake Titicaca, stay here not Puno.
Review 26:We asked 3 times for wood for our hearth as we booked suite, and 3 times they said yes we will do it right now but they never did!
Review 27:The sunrise from balcony and restaurant
Review 28:View of Lake Titicaca was beautiful and we could see the sunrise from our room . The staff was very helpful especially Anna. Being out of the town of Puna was a plus.
Review 29:-
Review 30:For me the most wonderful hotel in Peru, right in front of the lake, but (at least on low season) very quite and excellent staff. Would definitely stay here again! Just perfect!
Review 31:The hotel restaurant was over-priced and the food was not great. Try the restaurants in the village for good trout and local dishes. They charge extra to use the spa.
Review 32:The building and grounds are exceptional - great attention to detail with many cozy and romantic lounge areas overlooking the Lake. Warm fireplace in the lobby and excellent buffet breakfast. Nice little restaurants and the Temple of Fertility in the village of Chuquito in walking distance. Lovely rural setting with easy access to Puno on combis for US$0.50.
Review 33:Everything starting with facility, location physical condition, services, restaurant, room conditions. I will give a 10 out of ten. High class 5 starr.
Review 34:this is minor but the service at the restaurant, though friendly, was not efficient (didn't get the side we ordered)
Review 35:at the aret we got (about $60) it's much better value than other places we tried in Puno location in front of the lake big and comfortable room
Review 36:The road leading to the entrance is pretty bad condition, at least it's short :) Ther is no elevator (under construction)
Review 37:The staff was nice, the hotel is really in a fantastic location. The rooms are looking to the lake. Big enough, good internet connection. The restaurant is really nice, we had good dinners there. For those who are not travelling by car, it's at least 15km from Puno city center, and watch the address, it's not km18, but between km 1200-1300 of road 3S. Print the map, or use coordinates. They offer free oxygen and coca tea 0-24. The price was extraordinay cheap, and the location is much better than in Puno.
Review 38:Beautiful view of lake Titicaca from room window.Pisco sour-peruvian welcome drink.
Review 39:Water from the swimming pool too cold.
Review 40:Friendly staff, helpful, great room with amazing views to the lake Titicaca.
Review 41:Card payment was only possible in soles on bad exchange rate, smell from the restorant
Review 42:The stuff was friendly, room was comfortable
Review 43:The breakfast was great and the view of the lake was awesome
Review 44:Food was beyond bad....inedible , plus there are no other options because location is out of way
Review 45:Beds were clean and comfortable
Review 46:A great location fantastic views from our room , great food and very friendly staff very helpful
Review 47:Staff, food
Review 48:View of Lake Titicaca
Review 49:A little further out than expected but not too bad
Review 50:Quiet, great- friendly and helpful staff, nice view and breakfast
Review 51:the staff was great... helped with all aspects of the trip... would stay again.
Review 52:expensive dinner distance to Puno
Review 53:nice rooms
Review 54:Great room & thank god great shower!!
Review 55:Confort
Review 56:WiFi went down at night but it was possibly a provider problem.
Review 57:Very helpful staff, functioning fireplaces in junior suites
Review 58:I did not like that when I initially booked thru Booking.com - the hotel is listed like it is in Puno- I guess it is in the district of Puno but it is about 30 minutes away from the city of Puno- which made it expensive to get to airport, etc.
Review 59:Beautiful location- on the lake - grounds are superb! Staff was wonderful. good food.
Review 60:The location of the hotel in Chucuito is not ideal as it takes about 25 minutes by taxi or collective (only S/ 3 for 2 people!?). And the transfers several tour companies offer will not travel to Chucuito, or will change several more USD to do so.
Review 61:The hotel itself is amazing. The staff are very helpful. The restaurant is nice and has a good selection for breakfast and dinner. The view of the lake is fantastic and the Collectivo station is just down the road.
Review 62:Only the fact that there is no elevator and climbing up the stairs when you're at that altitude (close to 4000 meters) is rough :-)
Review 63:Great location, 10 miles outside of Puno, most rooms have a great view of Lake Titicaca, top floor rooms (no elevator) have high ceilings. Nice beds and furniture, good breakfast. The best of the 3 Taypikala hotels we stayed at. They also have oxygen for those who need/want it, BTW.
Review 64:At first I did ot realize that the hotel was not in the town of Puno- which actually turned out to be good- because the lake is much nicer in Chicuito and more restful than in Puno. The downside is that is about 30 soles to take a taxi iinto Puno or 100 soles to the airport in Juliaca. There are buses or collectivos availble but I did not feel comfortable going into Puno by myself using a collective.
Review 65:Hotel Taypikala is in a beautiful setting- on Lake Titica near the small town of Chicuito. The hotel itself is magical- with crystals and walking spiral path. Massage is avialable and she was very good. The staff are also wonderful- very helpful and always responsive- willing to go the extra mile to help and arrange things for you. The food in the restaurant is very good and at a reasonable price.
Review 66:The restaurant food at dinner was not as nice as expected based on reviews, it was extremely salty.
Review 67:The culture displayed in the hotel through the many artefacts, the close proximity to the lake, and the lovely breakfast.
Review 68:jacuzzi not included, sauna not included (only turkish sauna), reception dont speak english
Review 69:quiet, dinner menu (restaurant), great view on the lake, free PC, WLAN
Review 70:We truly enjoyed the quiet and charm of tiny Chicuito... it's a fun place for lunch, but no local restaurants remain open for supper. If you are looking for a place to stay with many dining options in the evening or an active nightlife and are without transport to Puno, this may not be the place for you.
Review 71:After over 2 weeks of busy travel in Peru, we all welcomed the beauty and quiet at the hotel. We had requested quiet rooms on the 3rd floor, which we were given. The beds were really comfortable (The best we had in Peru!)The staff uniformly kind and very friendly. The hotel's gardens and the panoramic views of Lake Titicaca were beautiful. Because the hotel is on the lakeshore in Chicuito vs. Puno, we were gifted with deep darkness each night in which to watch the spectacular natural light show on the lake and enjoy the star-filled sky. We usually ate in the hotel and found the food very good. The breakfasts were excellent.
Review 72:It was a beautiful hotel. A lot of attention to detail. Beautiful art& artifacts everywhere. The room was big with a very comfortablebed, an amazing view of Lake Titikaka from our window! The restraunt wasterrific, we had breakfast & dinner 3 days. Everything was verydelicious! The service everywhere was exceptional, they went out of theirway to help us. It's 20 min from Puno, but soooo worth the drive.Being on the lake was awesome. We would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 73:I think it's not Taypikala's fault, but the location on themap is not correct. So Booking could do something because taxi isnot for free.
Review 74:Staff, facilities, breakfast.
Review 75:The view of Lake Titicaca is fantastic. The hotel is out of the city and in a quiet village with historical ruins. Hotel can organize tours for guests. Good restaurant.
Review 76:I love the view of the Lake from breakfast room. I love the labyrinth and the quiet atmosphere. This is my favorite place near Lake Titicaca.
Review 77:The view
Review 78:wonderful view of the Lake, clean comfortable room, friendly staff and fabulous food!! would happily return!
Review 79:Nothing
Review 80:Awesome views - very comfortable rooms - fantastic food. Staff very helpful, friendly and courteous - perfect sanctuary away from Puno
Review 81:food not great a little cold in rooms
Review 82:View of the lake price size of room
