Reviews for Dar Meziana
Review 1:It's a little hard to find, in the northern part of the medina, yet only 6-7 min walk to the plaza outa el Hamman & grand mosque.
Review 2:Spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished, comparatively large bathroom, delicious breakfast, very friendly staff. best riad we stayed at in Morroco (after 6-7 riads in other cities before)
Review 3:Property is magical, food was great and the staff couldn't do enough for us. They advised that we left a pair of glasses and then forwarded our glasses to our Riad in Fes. Charming. 10 out of 10.
Review 4:Excellent stay-- the staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. Hotel was super clean and beautifully arranged. In a great location.
Review 5:Without doubt the best stay in our 15 day Morocco trip. Very clean, comfortable, superb location, nice rooftop. In every meaning it was perfect. Staff was so helpful and kind. Breakfast was great and room was perfect!
Review 6:It was hard to find, but then again most places in morocco are. I walked up and down a few wrong alleyways (all uphill) before I found it and even then was standing outside and didn't realise. Probably not their fault but breakfast for me was in the company of a dozen bees both mornings.
Review 7:Beautiful hotel, the rooms were nearly too good. Showers were awesome, not had as good in many places. The view from the balcony was breathtaking and the staff were very helpful.
Review 8:I stayed 3 nights. Everything was close to perfect. Quiet, clean, friendly. The breakfast changed slightly each day (most places it doesn't). The staff were extremely helpful with all my enquiries. One of the best places I've stayed anywhere. WiFi worked on all levels, shower was excellent, toiletries and towels were replaced daily, AC provided heat and there was central heating which came on when it started to get chilly. Location is great near one of the entrances as I parked my car close by.
Review 9:Mourad and Soufiane were very nice and professional. They did their best to make our one night stay enjoyable. We also loved the view from our room, and the breakfast was amazing. I definitely recommend the place.
Review 10:it was a bit noisy (one came from the fridge at night) and there was some renovation ongoing during our stay
Review 11:nicely located in the medina, free tea whenever you like, we got a room upgrade for free, room was nice, place is very cosy with nice fire place to warm you up in a cold evening, hot shower with nice water preassure
Review 12:One minor issue.. The hand basin tap could have a little more pressure!
Review 13:Could not have asked for a better stay in the little blue town! The staff were incredibly friendly and always willing to help out with our plans and ideas. Breakfast was incredible on the terrace overlooking the medina. All sorts of yummy Moroccan specialities! The rooms and lounge area are decorated beautifully in Moroccan style. Loved the bathroom and soaps etc! So nice to be able to have tea whenever we liked too... Overall the best stay in Morocco!
Review 14:Absolutely nothing!!
Review 15:The place is absolutely wonderful. The room is spotless and verycomfortable. The owner Mouden is the nicest guy I've met in all mytravels throughout the world. He goes above and beyond to help you withanything you need(booking bus tickets, restaurants, things to do aroundtown, took us to the bus station and also gave us advice on futuretravel plans). The staff was just as good and served a lavish breakfastwith fresh squeezed orange juice. The walk up the street where it'slocated is beautiful and once you get inside the decor is as well. It's also very quiet and we never got woken up for prayer like a lotof places Also the view from where you eat breakfast has a panoramicview of the town and valley below. I recommend this place 100% and Iguarantee once you check out you wish you'd never left.
Review 16:The place is fantastic. Super friendly and helpful staff, beautiful rooms and everything we needed. Even a woodfire in the reception/lounge room on the colder nights. We extended our stay by 2 days, we loved it so much. (Both the Dar Meziana & Chefchouen).
Review 17:The room was tiny, not much space between the bed and the wall. Many of the light bulbs were not working and one electrical outlet had exposed wires.
Review 18:Small place, homey and in good location.
Review 19:Great location in a little side street, perfect to explore the town from here. The staff (I think his name was Mounir) was very friendly and helpful. The roof terrace has a great view of the city, and you have a delicious breakfast up here. WiFi worked ok. Our room was beautiful and impeccably clean, a little on the small side but more than enough for a night or two. Overall highly recommended
Review 20:no wifi in bedroom. we have to go downstairs for wifi but it's ok. The location is a bit hard to find as well.
Review 21:Super nice and helpful staff. They recommend us great place to go/eat. Exotic and pretty room. Very spacious.
Review 22:Our room was noisy - could hear voices at the front desk and room next door. Bed VERY firm.
Review 23:Good location near Bab el Souk, nice breakfast served on terrace.
Review 24:The decor and layout of the hotel is very appealing. The terrace breakfast has an amazing view. It's clean and staff are friendly. Not too difficult to locate. Very close to Bab Suk
Review 25:Just nothing!
Review 26:Location, interior, Moroccan decor, my room on the first floor, very friendly staff especially Murad and Neofaul, breakfast, great hospitality. Dar Meziana is probably the best hotels I had during my Spain/Morocco trip in December 2014! Travellers should book their rooms at Dar Meziana cos you will leave with great and beautiful memories at this beautiful Riad!
Review 27:Although we ordered a superior room (big and with a nice view), he gave us a small room (long and very narrow) with no view and just after we showed him twice that it's not the right one, he credited us with the difference. Internet is very slow. Just one electricity socket in the whole room. Heating (AC) can't be adjusted. It's either it's on or it's off. Rather poor breakfast - the orange juice is not freshly pressed and the ingredients were cheap. Still relatively expensive for what we got.
Review 28:Location is quiet good, it's at the edge of the medina at a blue colored alley. You can easily get everywhere in the medina. Beautifully designed. Good shower. Nice receptionist.
Review 29:The place overall was nice - there's a steep hill to the Dar but worth the effort. Everyone I met was kind, relaxed and welcoming. Americans seemed to be well liked in Morocco. The breakfast was good and the guys running the place are helpful. I was extremely comfortable. I highly recommend it!
Review 30:The bed was a quite firm with a single pillow that stretched the width of the bed.
Review 31:We were welcomed with mint tea and biscuits and a chance to select from available rooms. Had a wonderful breakfast served on the roof terrace overlooking the Medina.
Review 32:Call to prayer at 5.15am, but can't do much about that.
Review 33:The location was in the heart of the Medina, the rooms were beautifully furnished. We started in a small room which was fine and then to a large which was fabulous. The breakfasts were huge. The breakfasts were great and the roof top was a perfect setting together with the grape vine if you wanted grapes with your breakfast. The managers were extremely knowledgeable and very helpful and extremely hospitable. The whole village was very friendly and l felt very safe A great stay
Review 34:We had the room on the roof terrace which was wonderful for breakfast and evening wine. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is good and the place looks as good or better than the website photos. The owner was amazing. We left by taxi to Tangier and the owner called our driver to tell us that they found my camera in the room. He went out of his way to make sure the camera was delivered to our Dar in Tangier. If you are going to Tangier the bus leaves around 3:00 PM so you should consider a taxi if you are willing to pay more than the cost of a bus. The Riad staff will arrange it for you. Dar Meziana is a good choice.
Review 35:Everything was truly wonderful. The cleanliness was important to me and this hotel was perfect.
Review 36:The terrace view is impeccable in the morning. The staff are very cheerful and nice. The breakfast is perfect too.
Review 37:Nice location, quite close to the entrance to the city. Clean, comfortable, nice staff and very nice breakfast.
Review 38:Steep access.
Review 39:Quiet location.Friendly staff.Authentic decor.Great beakfast.
Review 40:Living in the real Moroccan's tradition :) Wonderful I strongly recommend for those who wants to live new experience
Review 41:The decor was charming. The breakfast was delicious and was delivered on the rooftop terrace which was also stunning. Great location as well.
Review 42:friendly staff wi-fi
Review 43:Mourad the manager provided excellent support and guidance without ever being pushy. He was honest and reliable, giving truthful advice and travel tips. In some countries, this level of professional behavior is par for the course but this was not our experience of Morroco. Chefchaouen is the only town in morroco I would go back to and this is due in no small oart to Mourad's support. Other hotel managers should take note.
Review 44:The only thing I didn't like was the fact that I could not stay longer. I would like to return when I have more time to stay.
Review 45:Very unique, beautiful place with an extremely helpful, friendly staff.
Review 46:You do have to climb a mountain to get that view. After a long day that climb looks pretty daunting!
Review 47:Beautiful Riad. Very cozy with an amazing view. Sleepy little town so that carries over to the riad feel. Customer service and luxury in Fes or Marrakech are a diff league. Best avail in chef and loved it.
Review 48:The location was perfect. Mourad and Noufal were very friendly and helpful. They met us at our taxi when we arrived so we could find our way easily and helped us to the taxi with our bags. The food was great and we were always offered tea. Mourad even helped us with the owners of a lamp store where we will purchase some brass lamps. The views from the terrace of the town is spectacular.
Review 49:A wonderful place to stay in the town--central & friendly. The desk manager was particularly helpful, spoke English & Spanish well. Breakfast was fine. The hotel itself is beautifully appointed--a great room to come home to in the Blue Town.
Review 50:Decor over fussy and twee. I don't like not having windows with adecent outside view.
Review 51:Quite nice for a couple of nights but the town has little to offer butthe associated restaurant served the best dinners we have had on five ormore trips to Morocco since 2010.
Review 52:The economy room was too tiny even for two petite Asians like us, it's literally just the gorgeous blue bed as u see on the website and not enough space to move around with two luggages in it. Get the superior room which is Huge to truly enjoy what a riad room is supposed to be. More wall hooks on room wall to hang towel, clothes would be great. Please consider dear owner :)
Review 53:Location is perfect! Right in the beautiful blue old medina, they only have 7 rooms. The rooftop terrace is great for breakfast, the spread is sumptuous and individually prepared, best olives I tasted in morocco was at Riad Meziana.
Review 54:Not easily accessible. You need to park your car away, and walk a little a bit in the medina to access it.it wouldn't very convenient if you have luggage
Review 55:very charming place. Excellent to relax and forget the cities noise. I was under the charm of this cosy riad
Review 56:Breakfast was not very varied.
Review 57:This is a beautiful and typical small hotel in the medina. It was quiet, clean and charmingly decorated in a simple fashion. Breakfast was on the rooftop terrace with beautiful views. The staff were friendly, although a little reserved.
Review 58:Getting your luggage there may take a little effort and the rooms are a bit noisy (not a lot of privacy)
Review 59:Dar Meziana is a wonderful little hotel, with a nice staff and a great breakfast with a view on the roofterrace. You immediately feel at home.
Review 60:A problems exists with fake guides operating in the parking areas nearto the hotel. Contact the hotel to arrange help with luggage and safeparking. Do not pay anyone until they have been approved by hotel staff.
Review 61:Location
Review 62:It was a little pricier than the other dars nearby, but it was worth the splurge for the night.
Review 63:All the staff was super friendly and helpful for our first visit to Chefchaouen - showing us good places to go, helping us around, etc - and the security felt pretty high since there was almost always someone at the front desk.
Review 64:Our room was a bit small.
Review 65:Dar Meziana is a very friendly little place to stay in the lovely town of Chefchauoen. The staff are very helpful, the food very good and the views from the terrace are lovely.
Review 66:The location can make or break a traveler. Should you want to ventureout of town at all (which is actually *not* necessary) you'll needto hike down to the very bottom of town to get a 'grande-taxi'....it's not difficult once you get there but the mountainsroads at nite are a bit dicey. Thankfully our driver knew his stuff andhe even returned to the restaurant to pick us up after dinner.Like many establishments in Morocco...they do not accept Amex.
Review 67:The staff was incredibly helpful....we were coming to Chefchaouen byprivate car and were unable to find our way to the entrance ....one ofthe guys came down to the town....bopped in our car and led us to theparking area and helped us take our bags to the Dar.The breakfast is hearty and fresh...much more than a typical carb overload...and the ambiance is lovely; fireplace going in the chilly morning...great terrasse to relax and take the sun in the afternoon . Great value and quite charming.
Review 68:When we stayed in late February, it was very cold at breakfast with no fire in the fireplace.
Review 69:Beautiful decor, great location inside the medina, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 70:We stayed here for 2 nights on the advice of our guidebook which saidthat this riad is absolutely perfect and I would have to agree! It’s abeautifully decorated riad, with friendly and helpful staff who speakEnglish. They have a fireplace which was nice in February in themountains and the room had a good heater. Very easy to find and well-marked – though I’d recommend coming from Bab Souk as the riad is a bitcloser to this than other medina entrances. Possibly the nicest roof ofany riad where I’ve ever stayed, with great views. Great breakfast – thetraditional Moroccan breads but they also made eggs (which is unusual tofind in a riad breakfast). They gave us a choice of two rooms and wechose one on the bottom floor, but it wasn’t noisy at all. Great waterpressure. Overall, a great value compared to riads where I’ve stayed inother cities. I would definitely stay here again!
Review 71:The room was clean and so was the bathroom, except for the cockroach. This is the first one I have seen in Morocco after living here for 18 months, it was unfortunate but I guess you can't avoid them forever! Also, the shower was very spacious but had no wall hook on which to hang the shower head so the entire bathroom flooded with water when I rested the piece on the taps. The water then ran into my bedroom. Fine for one night, would have been annoying if I was there longer or if my luggage had been on the floor.
Review 72:Great location, especially if driving yourself - just a stones throw from the Bab Souk. Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good. I stayed in one of the "beds in a wall" and was warm and toasty all night - once I figured out how to work the heating unit (note, the "wavy" lines mean heat, don't bother looking for a sun symbol)! This is my second visit to Chefchaouen in a year and I would recommend this hotel over the others in it's price range. Loved the great use of space - the benches adjoining the beds and the small table in the rooms. Great water pressure in the bathroom, plenty of hot water, which is fantastic after hiking to the hills during the day.
Review 73:The Moroccan decor is a bit overdone and busy. The breakfast room was very cold but they wouldn't allow us to take breakfast in our room, which was warmer and more comfortable. There were two fairly large spiders in my bathroom, the harmless kind, but I can't really knock them for that - the building is far from hermetically sealed; it's only natural that a few little critters will seek warmth and shelter, just like us!
Review 74:It's really close to the shopping and easy to find. It's quiet and a good bargain for the price.
Review 75:When we arrived there, the hotel was overbooked. We were relocated to adifferent hotel without any explanation from the hotel manager. Thehotel staff kept telling us that the other hotel is as same as DarMeziana, but of course it wasn'T. They took us to another hotelcalled "Casa Hassan". Casa Hassan was not as nicely decoratedas Dar Meziana. They told us that "Both hotels are the same becauseboth Casa Hassan and Dar Meziana are owned by the same owner and thereshouldn't be any difference". That was very ridiculous commentthey made.... My reservation was not confirmed at all thru Booking.comat Dar Meziana and we experienced very inconvenient time there and verydisappointed. If you were to book this hotel, be careful.
Review 76:Liked everything, but just know that sound travels in the riads (which was not completeu condusive to our honeymoon spirit if you know what I mean).
Review 77:Great staff. One of the best things about Chefchaouen was the breakfast at Dar Meziana! To die for. And spectacular views.
Review 78:magnificent building, beautifully decorated. very good staff and great location in medina. excellent terrace with views over the town
Review 79:the staff was more than friendly and attentive the roof terasse is beautiful
Review 80:Beautiful room , quiet location , friendly and helpful staff
Review 81:Terrace, breakfast, Chefchaouen itself
Review 82:A characterful place to stay. Great location in a lively and interesting part of old town. Very clean and comfortable.
Review 83:Staff was not very helpful whatsoever, wifi only works in the lobby
Review 84:Beautiful decor and views
Review 85:Location was hard to get to with suitcases
Review 86:Great Service Terrace View
The Fine Print
