Reviews for Hotel L'Antico Pozzo

Review 1:The hotel stays inside the walls of San Giminiano. Pretty Nice for a medieval city. Leaving the hotel you can walk all over the city. The roons are nice. The breakfast is very good. The real star is the city and the hotel hás very good location.

Review 2:Location was superb - right in the heart of the town & walkable to everything. very nice restaurants nearby. Tho' we had to park outside of the town, we were able to drive up to hotel to unload luggage, & walk back to hotel was not far..

Review 3:The wifi signal was a little weak in the room but wonderful in the lobby!

Review 4:Excellent hotel location, convenient to town center. Staff was extremely helpful in providing assistance & luggage storage. They were always smiling and eager to help!

Review 5:Bed a bit soft but acceptable

Review 6:Front desk is very friendly and helpful recommending us a very good restaurant nearby. Told us to drive our car in front of hotel temparary for loading heavy luggague.

Review 7:My wife was ill for part of the time. The staff offered to call medical staff. They also checked to see if we needed anything extra. The breakfast staff was very efficient, friendly, and courteous

Review 8:The GPS was incorrect and had us drive down the center of this this medieval town. Unloading our luggage in front of the hotel was great, but driving it out of the town walls to a public parking space was inconvenient.

Review 9:The location is perfect if planning to experience the beautiful medieval town of San Gimignano. The large beds were very comfortable and it was nice to have a good breakfast before exploring San Gimignano. My favorite time was walking around the town at night when the lights are on the buildings and towers.

Review 10:Had to book two rooms to accomodate older children and therefor the rate was a little expensive for the single supplement but understandable. Facilities as indicated on line.

Review 11:Staff were very helpful and lovely to deal with. Ideal location for visiting the town.

Review 12:Nothing we didn't like, it was a very good choice.

Review 13:The location is perfect, well situated for shops , coffee bars and restaurants. The hotel is well managed, and the staff very efficient. The rooms are very nice and the breakfast more than adequate. Overall very good value.

Review 14:The staff were some of the most friendly and obliging that I've come across. Nothing was ever too much trouble. They were able to recommend places to visit, and restaurants and cafes in which to eat. They were also more than happy to make arrangements for visits etc on our behalf. They really helped to make our visit go well. The hotel also has a great location. It is well placed for exploring San Gimignano. Our day started with a good breakfast, which is included in the rate, and it was always good to return to our delightful room at the end of the day. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone wishing to experience San Gimignano after the day trippers have left.

Review 15:No downsides.

Review 16:Staff very helpful in arranging transportation in the area, breakfast was on the outdoor patio, delightful. Though there were more luxurious rooms, ours on the 3rd floor was lovely and the view over the tile roofs to the hills was charming. Would return, without a doubt.

Review 17:Arrived during the festival, our fault A bit expensive.

Review 18:Large Bedroom and back outdoor dining room, could be used anytime. Nice bottle of Chianti and Cheese from the store across the road.

Review 19:Some people will moan about access to the hotel and parking, but we are in a World Heritage site here, so accept the slight inconvenience of walking back from the car park after you have unloaded your bags. It's a pleasant walk anyway and there was nothing that I disliked about my stay there.

Review 20:The friendliness, knowledge and general demeanour of the staff make guests feel at home from the minute that they enter the hotel. The large bedroom came with a comfortable bed and a good sized wardrobe for hanging clothes. Breakfast 'al fresco' if the mood takes you !

Review 21:Mosquitos ... But the hotel sites that immediately with a killer of a spray!!!

Review 22:Spent two nights here as s base.... The location was brilliant for visiting the town... A little hard to find bit the kind stag guided me in .. The town is beautiful and the hotel was very relaxing.... If you want to get away from the bustle go for a relax in the garden

Review 23:No serious problems at all, but it would be nice to have a genuinely secure area to store luggage after checking out of the room. Also, be aware that, as with any hotel in central San Gimignano, rooms facing onto the street can be noisy if you have the windows open.

Review 24:The building is both comfortable and full of character. The rooms are well-appointed, with comfortable beds, and, like all areas of the hotel, were kept very clean. The breakfast was excellent with a huge spread of bread and pastries, cold meats & cheese, cereals, fresh and dried fruit, etc., and the staff were friendly and very helpful, making sure that we found our way to the correct bus onwards to Florence.

Review 25:We were advised to drive our car to the hotel entrance to unload luggage which produced anger from some of the shop keepers who shouted and were threatening. We were not impressed at having to pay an extra 16 Euro for a single can of soft drink from the mini bar. Not a great deal of money but irritatingly extortionate.

Review 26:The uniqueness of the interior of the hotel, had clearly had a number of other uses beforehand, private residence, monastery etc.

Review 27:Yes, it is worth staying in San Gimignano and this an excellent hotel to do it. Big, comfortable rooms & bathrooms, decent breakfast, great location. Recommend restaurant Cum Quibus round the corner, top class inventive modern Italian.

Review 28:The only thing We did not like was the beds which were very tired and small, and the fact that, even in April, the place is hot with no air conditionning.

Review 29:Front desk people, Location Cleanliness Breakfast room.

Review 30:Staff was super friendly and helpful! Room was excellent! We absolutely enjoyed every part of our stay! Don't miss the traditional local honey which is served in breakfast

Review 31:not a lot to dislike, it was cold weather but beautiful day. I"m not sure what we would do if it had been raining. It was the middle of winter!

Review 32:very friendly and helpful

Review 33:Nothing to dislike

Review 34:The location was excellent. We were made to feel welcome and the staff were helpful and attentive. The room was comfortable and breakfast was excellent

Review 35:No tea or coffee making facilities (although this seems to be standard in Italy).

Review 36:Location good. Staff very helpful. Room was spacious. Excellent instructions on website about how to get to the hotel,

Review 37:Room was a little small, but so was the bill!

Review 38:Good location & lovely staff - perfect as a base to explore from...nice garden/courtyard out the back for the summer...& storing bicycles!

Review 39:Wonderful view from our room. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Nice to go for a walk in the green space behind the property to the various towers within the town. Breakfast was fine.

Review 40:Some noise travelled from room to room at night, but not a big deal, people eventually went to sleep.

Review 41:A superb location, but if you arrive by bus, be prepared to walk about 600m uphill along cobbled streets! More of an adventure than an issue! Very friendly staff, clean rooms. Quirky layout. If you're on the third floor avoid the stairs. They're almost vertical. Use the lift! Breakfast, typically European and plentiful...plus even had muesli, fresh fruit and tea...lovely.

Review 42:Nothing.

Review 43:We liked everything about this hotel. We were there for 4 nights and would have stayed longer if not for other travel plans. The breakfast was excellent. Be sure and ask about the well in the lobby. An interesting story about past practices.

Review 44:It was great staying in side the walls. Surprisingly, it gets noisy at night (but we did keep our window open). The recommendations ofthe staff were very good and everyone was helpful.

Review 45:top floor room a little small pillows too small (everywhere in Italy we found this)

Review 46:in the heart of the city-perfect for early morning exploring, friendly, helpful staff, beautiful views from the room quaint old building restored nicely, comfortable place to be, lovely courtyard

Review 47:if you are not very mobile or struggle with steps you may find it hard

Review 48:Staff very helpful and welcoming the room was adequate very clean and comfortable... we only stayed 1 nite, but would stay again and thoroughly recommend

Review 49:Bathroom small, bath tiny, taps dripped, awkward step into bathroom, no proper wardrobes or mirror, breakfast mediocre

Review 50:Location, friendly staff, comfortable bed, nice frescoes on walls

Review 51:Can't think of a thing!

Review 52:The building was old, but our room was modernity remodeled and very clean. The room was small, but adequate since we were only sleeping there. The breakfast was very nice.

Review 53:Great location, excellent room temperature control and comfortable design. Good breakfast. Best hotel we stayed at during our trip in Italy.
