Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Mount Tanigawa, Hotel Futaba lies on the high plains of the historical Echigo-Yuzawa Onsen hot spring area. It offers comfortable Japanese rooms with private bathing facilities, as well as indoor and outdoor baths with splendid mountain views.
All rooms are fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and traditional Japanese futon bedding. They are also equipped with an LCD TV, electric kettle and private bathroom with bath and shower.
Guests can indulge in a Korean massage or reserve a private bath (kashikiri) at an additional fee to unwind in. There is also a women's-only spa.
A daily breakfast can be enjoyed at Futaba's dining room, where it serves either a daily buffet breakfast with a variety of Japanese and Western dishes, or a Japanese breakfast.

Review 1：Tiny little thing, only few stuffs speak English. But it's not bad because we can still communicate.

Review 2：This is the first Japanese-Style I have stayed in, the room is very beautiful/excellent private bath view of Mt. covered by snow. the Dinner Set was very impressive.Also, there's a shuttle bus travelling from the hotel, so, it's quite convenient. Totally recommended. :D

Review 18：The staffs are very helpful, warm and delighted. The private room for dinner is great so we can enjoy our dinner privately without disturbing or being disturbed by others. We enjoyed karaoke very much even we didn't sing. It s entertaining enough to watch others sing.

Review 19：The staff really don't speak any English at all, at all. Booking.com offered only a half-board package (i.e. including dinner) and it was clear from our booking that we were 2 adults and 2 children. On arrival we were told that the dinners for the children would be charged at adult rates. The reason was because the dinners were actually for adults. Every evening we had a private dining room and on the first night each of us had a separate table each with two burning fires to cook the food (even for a 4 and 7 year old!). The food was nice but totally inappropriate for small children. The toilet in our room absolutely stank of stale urine, it was disgusting. Just about every piece of furniture in the room was stained and several of the carpets in the corridors were ripped or torn. This hotel seems to have the pretensions of a luxury hotel, but those days are long gone. No Wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby! Bascially it was a huge disappointment for the money we spent. We have had great nights in simple family-run ryokans and had a great time, but this stay was not enjoyable.

Review 20：The baths in this hotel are really good. The 6th and 7th floors are given over to 3 different onsen, each containing mulitple baths. The best hotels baths I have experienced in any Japanese town.

Review 49：My sister and I stayed at the Japanese style twin room with breakfast and dinner included. The room was spacious and had all that we could ask for; a dressing corner, a small alcove (tokonoma) which made the room feel more zen, clean yutakas everyday and room was well heated. The staff were very helpful and friendly; it was Japanese hospitality at its best. The meals served were really delicious and it's value for money. The guests there were mostly Japanese so it must be pretty popular with the locals, which is a good sign. The highlight of the stay were the indoor and outdoor baths. The public bath area are really clean, modern and well maintained. Outdoor baths had views of the snow mountains; a really breathtaking experience. And there were really about 20 different hot spring tubs to try, so we went dipping in all of them. There are many eateries along the main street just 2 mins walk from the lobby. There are also hourly shuttle buses from New Otani Hotel to Gala Yuzawa, so it's convenient for those going skiing as well. This is the accomodation we enjoyed the most. Would definitely return!
