Reviews for Relais Santa Chiara Hotel
Review 1:Beautiful hotel, wonderful location, fabulous view of the Tuscany countryside, fantastic breakfast/coffee, jetted tub in room, great balcony, helpful staff, highly recommend.
Review 2:A bit of trouble with the room temp. several cold days prior to our arrival so the rooms were quite warm, with no access to outside air.
Review 3:Beds were good and the breakfast was very good; fruits , cereals, breads, and meats. Only a short 5 minute walk to San Gimignano city gates.
Review 4:Beautiful grounds and pool area with gated reserved parking (extra fee); incredibly lovely and spacious lobby and lounge. Our upstairs room had a good sized terrace overlooking the pool and countryside. Just about a ten minute walk to the gate of San Gimignano
Review 5:Parking. I am very glad there was a spot in the assigned parkting lot out front of the hotel and we gladly paided the 13 euro/nt to reserve it. Otherwise, you are left to chance if there is a spot in the hotels 'back lot' about 100 meters up the street (only about 5-7 spots).... OR you're stuck trying to use the public parking down the road. Not too terrible unless it is raining, but I think the 13 euro per nt was well worth the spot right outside the door.
Review 6:The location was perfect. 5 min walk to the center of 'town', so you don't have to try to drive / park to see inside the city walls. Hotel was very nice, well kept, and clean. Room was good size and clean. Staff was helpful and breakfast was ample.
Review 7:Extremely disappointed we could not use the pool, not even the spa. When we go online to book hotel we see a great view of the pool. Were really looking forward to spending time around the pool.In the future, you should heat the spa at least or specify on your web site fyl
Review 8:the view,the clealiness, close to everything.Great
Review 9:the room were terible once we paid 2 classes haier' than we got something bareable. the 1st category of rooms were without windows ' the feeling was a cell in prison the 2nd category was with a window but no romm for personal luggage. Its dificult to explain how much was charged and for what?
Review 10:Breakfast was ok but more choice of food is needed.
Review 11:Beautiful location 5 minutes from the main town.room with a view worth the money. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 12:The room was a little smaller than we had remembered.
Review 13:This is our 4th time staying at this hotel and it is because of the wonderful staff and beautiful accommodations.
Review 14:Very nice hotel close to the city of San Gimingano. Friendly and helpful staff, very nice area around the pool and the view is fantastic! The room was really nice and well-cleaned.
Review 15:location was excellent and the staff were very helpful and always a smile. The hotel was lovely and well worth the money. Would chose the terrace again views were beautiful,
Review 16:Lovely setting with beautiful gardens and pool, just a short walk from the walls of old historic San Gimignano. Courteous helpful staff were wonderful.
Review 17:The room was a little small, the bathroom very small and a little old looking. The balcony was nice but had absolutely no view. The breakfast could've been better.
Review 18:The pool area, common rooms, lounges etc. are excellent. Lots of space and variety, plenty of places to sit and relax. Great views. Very, very good.
Review 19:The air conditionning was not working and the temperature rise to 38°! We ask the reception at 16h to fix it, but they came at 20h and just give us a ventilator saying that it is too late to call a professionnal! It is clearly not serious for the price of this hotel. There is a lot of hotel were you can have a better ratio quality price. A lot of mosquitos after 17h.
Review 20:Good swimming pool. Nice view on toscana. Not far away from San Gimgignano (10 min walk). Free parking outside the building.
Review 21:They have a parking system with name tags on the wall, we took one and paid for it for the whole stay. A guest took our parking spot and then they shift ours to another location. Then another guest took that parking too and they couldn't get that guest to remove his car. We end up having to park outside, to a "secondary" parking when we arrived the second night. Recommendation: remove the name tag system if you can't enforce it, just keep track of plate numbers and available spaces. Don't create the false expectation that the guest has his own spot and then let the guest loose it (twice in this case). Is not polite.
Review 22:The location and their infrastructure. Beautiful breakfast with views of the Toscana countryside. One of their laundry staff honesty: they did my laundry and returned 10€ that I have left in my pocket.
Review 23:The standard bedroom was exceptional small, a very small bed queen size with a very hard mattress
Review 24:Great location , hotel had air conditioning and free Wifi
Review 25:Breakfast was meant to be included in the price. But we got a bill on departure for coffees at breakfast of 15 euros for our three day stay which we thought was a little naughty. We did not pay extra for coffees at any other Hotel we stayed at during our two week holiday.
Review 26:The pool area was lovely, the views were amazing, and it was close enough to the Center of town yet nice and quiet. Very comfy room with lots of drawer space.
Review 27:We absolutely loved the hotel. The reception staff were really friendly and helpful. We were amazed by the beautiful view and there was nothing better during the heat wave than being able to return to the pool and have a refreshing swim. The pool and garden is beautifully landscaped and it was so relaxing to sit out on the terrace for breakfast in the mornings. The other great bonus as far as we were concerned was being able to wander into San Gimigiano so easily. This was a very special holiday for us - we got engaged - and we will never forget our stay at Relais Santa Chiara! Thank you to all of the wonderful staff.
Review 28:Original room we booked (with a view) wasn't available, although a superior room was offered. This was rectified on the second night.
Review 29:Beautiful location & views. Quiet but in easy walking distance of San Gimignano, with relaxing pool area and garden- perfect given the very hot temperatures. Staff were very helpful
Review 30:If you use the free road parking make sure you read the signs carefully to avoid road cleaner restrictions.
Review 31:Everything was of excellent quality with attention to detail. Very helpful and friendly staff. Close to the city walls and yet felt like a countryside retreat.
Review 32:Nothing :-)
Review 33:Wonderful location enabling both wonderful historical and cultural experiences in the center of San Gimignano just a short walk away and lovely afternoons by the pool with a fantastic view of the Tuscan hills.
Review 34:We only had bad experience! We requested a suite with a view. We weresurprised to realize that our suite (room 201) was overlooking theparking lot and feels like a two star hotel. The swimming pool was tiny.Ac and fridge were barely functional. We were unable to talk to thehotel manager
Review 35:We liked the fact that we only stayed one night
Review 36:Room was a little small although the balcony really made up for it.
Review 37:Excellent location, air con and Wifi was definitely needed and the pool area was gorgeous with lovely views and set in a beautiful garden
Review 38:Building a bit bland, felt like it could have been anywhere!
Review 39:5 mins walk from town overlooking beautiful countryside. Staff friendly and efficient. Quiet room with large comfortable bed Garden with modest pool and sun beds.
Review 40:Bathroom could do with a little updating & was quite cramped The staff seemed a bit over stretched at breakfast time & items from the buffet were not replenished very quickly
Review 41:Set in the Tuscan hills just 10mins walk from the old city walls of San Gimignano Lovely pool & garden & the public rooms were beautiful On the whole a lovely hotel
Review 42:Smart modern hotel, our superior room was comfortable with a balcony and fabulous view. Ten minute walk uphill (not too steep) to town centre. Nice breakfast. Limited on site parking for a fee, more free parking just outside. Wifi is now free.
Review 43:One of the smallest rooms I have every stayed in. Only just enough room to walk around the bed. Nowhere to put any sized case. Our large suitcase had to be put on top of the bar fridge.
Review 44:Good location. Great pool and gardens. Amazing view from our balcony. But the balcony was bigger than the bedroom.
Review 45:Nothing...a very easy, enjoyable experience
Review 46:This is a very welcoming, comfortable hotel with very friendly and professional staff. The front facing rooms are worth paying extra for, with fantastic views. Unobtrusive service, lovely gardens, would go back next time.
Review 47:I had difficulty sleeping on the hard bed though my husband slept well. Both of us would have appreciated better pillows.
Review 48:We enjoyed the large terrace with the generous umbrella. We sat out there reading and writing for hours. Definitely worth the extra cost.
Review 49:I ask to the DO NOT clean my room for three days and they ignored all my resquests. regular breakfast, very few parking spots.
Review 50:great view, very quiet hotel, close to the city (about 400m), large rooms, free wifi.
Review 51:The bathroom could do with updating. Plastic shower curtain leaked a bit.
Review 52:The location was excellent and the staff really helpful and friendly. we had lots choose from at breakfast. also, free off road parking for the car just outside the gates.
Review 53:Unable to control room temperature, room slightly cold at times. It would also have been nice to have tea making facilities in the room.
Review 54:Excellent breakfast, lovely to be able to sit outside to eat. Excellent views.
Review 55:The room was advertised as "small room" with balcony.....small was an understatement....the picture did not really reveal how small the room was....it worked but we would have liked to be able to move around the room a little easier!!
Review 56:The locations was great and the staff very helpful.
Review 57:The room was almost exactly the size of a queen size bed. This can be an issue for people with lots of luggage.
Review 58:Excellent location close to the ancient part of San Gimignano, but far enough to escape the constant crowds. We stayed at 9 hotels in Italy and this was the best breakfast we had. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Very good view of the Tuscan landscape from the pool area.
Review 59:the original room we had booked, although a junior suite, had no view so we were offered a (paid for) upgrade which I thought on top of the 268 euros per night was excessive. Having said that the terrace on the room we moved to was lovely and had chairs and sun loungers.
Review 60:The hotel has lovely views over the surrounding countryisde from the terrace and pool area, we had a lovely lunch on arrival and a chilled glass of wine. Our room was traditionally decorated and furnished but comfortable and we enjoyed the air conditioning! The hotel is a short walk to San Gimignano which is a must see village in the area and we had a great meal watching the sun go down oer the valley.
Review 61:No restaurant but many fine dining establishments to suit all pockets, nearby
Review 62:Modern hotel with all the comforts and amenities within a short walk from the walled city. Friendly, professional and accommodating staff
Review 63:This really was a lovely hotel. Very generous sized comfortable room. We stayed here for three days and just loved relaxing by their enormous pool. Fantastic view over vineyards and just a short stroll into the beautiful medieval village. Highly recommended.
Review 64:Top class staff, 10/10 for the helpful reception, wonderful breakfast staff and brilliant standard of room cleaning. The hotel was almost full but 4 of us could always get a sun bed in the afternoon. It was a short and pleasant walk to the town where there are so many fabulous restaurants you'll need to stay for over a week to try the best ones.
Review 65:A beautiful hotel, helpful friendly staff in a fantastic location. An inviting pool was a greatly appreciated after spending a couple of days walking around the beautiful city of San Gimignano.
Review 66:No food in the evenings. Mosquitos (this is a general problem and not specific to the hotel). Taxis are very expensive in San Gimignano (min €30 regardless of how short the trip is)
Review 67:Close to town and with good views and a nice pool. The staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful.
Review 68:Rooms were cramped but we knew that in advance & whilst compact lots of storage & spotlessly clean.
Review 69:Location excellent -10minute walk to San Gimignano but peaceful retreat during the day when town is busy with day trips. Beautiful gardens with pool. Staff really friendly & helpful. Would definitely stay again.
Review 70:When we arrived at reception one of the first things they suggested was that we could upgrade if we wanted. This was strange but on arriving at the room we saw why, it was so small you couldn't even unpack the suitcase and had a v small double bed, absolutely not acceptable. We upgraded to a very nice room at an extra cost of €60 per night and this room was lovely. I felt that the first room was used to create a situation where an upgrade was necessary in order to be able to charge extra, there is no way that the small room was worth the price we'd paid. I travel extensively world wide on business and this was far & away the smallest room I've even had, even Ibis or Premier Inn offers larger rooms at a quarterof the price. During the stay we heard other guests complaining about room sizes. Additionally, a small thing but representative of the overall attitude at the hotel was the factthat they wanted to charge for Internet access. When paying close to €200 per night you don't expect to have to pay for wireless internet. It's a shame because the hotel was lovely, just these little attitude changes would help to improve significantly.
Review 71:Great views, quiet position.
Review 72:All was good.
Review 73:Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Great pool and gardens. Location was a couple of minutes from the city entrance. Good facilities and breakfast terrace was really nice overlooking the pool area. Good and free parking.
Review 74:Staff definitely OK but not enthusiastically helpful - they don't own the hotel I guess.
