Reviews for Fountainside Hotel

Review 1:Nothing.

Review 2:Super-clean place in a great location. I am alergic to dust and appreciate the fact that there was none in my room. Great breakfast well worth the money. Kind and helpful staff. Highly recommend.

Review 3:would have liked a real caffe latte in restaurant

Review 4:Friendly staff Excellent facilities Position great Cleanliness Prices for mini bar great Restaurant meals excellent great tasting and value for money including price of wine

Review 5:We have been regular visitors to the Fountainside Hotel over the past 7 years. We love it !! The location is great and the fact we can get meals is wonderful. Great value for money and they even offer BUSHELLS tea bags - much appreciated !!

Review 6:Great value for money - we didn't expect it to be so good considering how cheap it was compared to other hotels in Hobart. Our 3-yr-old had travel sickness on the plane so they fast tracked our check-in. Very clean. Good shower pressure. Comfy beds. In-house movie channels. Complimentary hot milo for the kids in the restaurant. Friendly staff - especially the housekeeping crew. Quiet.

Review 7:A bit expensive compare with the rest of the places we stay, and the cabin deco is a bit old for me. Location wise, i am not sure about the rest but it might not be the best place for us.

Review 8:The lift door closes v quickly and pressing the door open button doesn't open the door. Just slams shut.

Review 9:Cheerful and helpful staff. Good restaurant

Review 10:The price, but it was a late booking in a peak time.

Review 11:The room was of good size and we had a nice veiw. Breakfast was of exceptional value especially the continental which was great for the kids.

Review 12:Pretty expensive for what you get. Unhelpful front desk simply directed you to the Hobart information centre for everything (although they did show you how to get there on a map). If I'd had to guess, I would've thought 3 star (not 4) based on the general condition, maintenance & decor of the property. Very difficult to connect to Wi-Fi.

Review 13:Good location for shopping, but a bit far from the waterfront and salamanca. Cost prices for mini-bar was a very nice surprise! Free parking.

Review 14:The hotel is on a roundabout and traffic noise is inevitable try to get a room on a high floor. Car parking is limited but on street parking available 6pm to 8:30am.

Review 15:Large clean comfortable room. Mini Bar prices the same as bottle shop e.g. $3.50 for a bottle of beer. Decent breakfast for $12. About 10 minutes walk from the harbour and 20 minutes walk from the Botanic Gardens.

Review 16:This is the only hotel that I have been in that charges for biscuits tohave with a cup of tea or coffee. I did not think of looking at thebiscuit pack and had to fork out $3 this rather small incident left mewith a bad taste. Pity about that otherwise all good.

Review 17:Location and room size

Review 18:Nothing really but the hotel looks slightly old internally.

Review 19:Room is clean and has almost all facilities that are needed, close to most places, walking distance to waterfront... really value for money. We enjoyed the stay there.

Review 20:The heater in the room wasn't warm enough even though we tried to increase the temperature to 28 degrees. The shower between hot & cold water was difficult to adjust as the water temperature was either very hot or cold.

Review 21:The location was great & the room was comfortable & spacious.

Review 22:We've stayed here several times and love it's proximity to the CBD, great rooms, comfortable king beds, fantastically priced minibar and free parking! What's not to like.

Review 23:Door card very easily demagnetized, wifi not very easily accessible especially for iPhone 6s

Review 24:Centralize Location, Facilities in room & hotel very good. Room size marvelous!

Review 25:Although on the NE edge of the Hobart CBD Fountainside is still only a 10 min walk to Salamanca, less to the wharf area. The double room is a good size with a comfortable King bed. The bathroom has a large modern shower and is also a good size. The breakfast in the Dining room at $11.90 is really good value. Our room on the 6th floor had a pleasant view of the small park over the road.

Review 26:Outside of the windows were very dirty - quite noticeable and made room feel dirty when looking out at the beautiful rose bushes. Free wifi but had to sign in every 30 mins which was quite annoying and time consuming.

Review 27:Large clean room including the bathroom and bed linen. Mini-bar prices were very cheap - such a rarity! Car parking easy and free. Didn't eat at the restaurant so no comment.

Review 28:we have never stayed here before so didn't know what to expect. We very surprised by how close it is to everything in Hobart cbd and the wharf . You can cut through a couple of little lane ways to be right near the wharf area and also the city. The hotel is very clean and comfortable.

Review 29:"Never judge a book by its cover" the façade is quite brown & boring But- the interior & entry more than lived up to our expectations,

Review 30:the location for us was just perfect - amazingly quite flat walking distance to great restaurants in the "docks" area & Salamanca markets - museums etc.

Review 31:Wireless Internet a little unreliable

Review 32:Good location, quiet, reason breakfast at a great price. Friendly staff with 24 hour desk. Comfortable and clean.

Review 33:Very sensible food prices, very comfortable room which even had a blanket on the bed rather than a continental quilt (which unfortunately most Australian hotels are obsessed with).

Review 34:Ugly, heavy old fashioned 'style' furniture and recent naff false paneling in the circulation spaces. Money should have been spent on acoustic glazing on Fountain roundabout side..traffic noise problematic.

Review 35:Good position in Hobart, car parking available, generous sized room and bathroom with reasonable views out from an interesting modern building .

Review 36:Nothing was worthy of complaining but perhaps shower pressure could be a bit stronger.

Review 37:Best room and view in the hotel with all conveniences for an amazing holiday. We used both in house catering and dinner and breakfasts in the restaurant which was great value!

Review 38:Lift is old and cranky, though still speedy; electronic key to door was not immediately obvious as to how it should be used.

Review 39:Nice room; comfortable bed; great value breakfast.

Review 40:Wifi kept dropping off each time you did not use the device, which meant you had to connect again. It also took a few attempts each time you tried to log in, which was annoying.

Review 41:Nice staff, affordable.

Review 42:Lift is noisy and harsh when stopping at each floor. Magnetic keys lose their effect when they come near mobile phones. Therefore when you cannot access your room, you will need to go back to the reception to activate the key.

Review 43:Friendly staff. High standard toiletries, natural earth. Big fridge. Spacious room size. Fantastic views from high floors. Very close to CBD. Reasonable prices for bar items.

Review 44:Our only disappointment was the king bed, which had a large dip on one side, (we forgot to mention this to reception when we checked out).

Review 45:Fountainside offered fantastic value for money - our room on the 7th floor had everything we needed and the low minibar prices were truly amazing. The location (only 10 minutes' walk from the wharf) was terrific.

Review 46:When we got to the room we found we had no towels. When I rang down to let them know this the response was "would you like to come down and get some towels?" which, well, I didn't really want to do when undressed for a shower already (I think if she had said "I'm really sorry but we don't have any staff free to come up to your room" it would have been ok, but the way it was framed as my privilege to come downstairs annoyed me a little!) Also, when we first arrived a manager was clearly telling one of her staff off at the reception desk, giving a long lecture, which I found quite uncomfortable, and also wondered why they didn't go out the back to do this. They continued throughout my check-in (with a third staff member)

Review 47:Excellent location

Review 48:A small microwave would have been nice. The fact that the windows are not able to be opened.

Review 49:The location was excellent, the staff were terrific and the price was absolute value.

Review 50:The lift has mechanical problems that cannot fix it for a long long time. What's wrong with this lift ? My room beside the roads so sometimes a little bit noisy in the morning.

Review 51:Convenience.

Review 52:Only one, room was very dusty oh and not a good view from our room on 2nd floor.

Review 53:Location perfect, very quiet, meals were good and plenty on plate. Over all a great place to stay.

Review 54:The restaurant does not have any meal options for children which was very disappointing

Review 55:I like the location and cleanliness of fountain side. All the staff are very friendly and helpful

Review 56:The staffs are very friendly, helpful and professional. I lost my card from work which looks exactly like the key cards for the room, there are like thousands of them but the staff was very helpful, patient and smart to find it for me. The best service during my stay in Tasmania. The room is very clean and well equipped with a nice view.

Review 57:Property is a bit daggy and staff are relatively helpful - but overall its fairly basic. Lifts are noisy and slow - so best to get a lower floor room that's not too close to the lift shaft!

Review 58:Very spacious self contained apartment ideal for young families. Great value for a CBD location.

Review 59:Problems connecting to the internet but staff were very helpful to trying to get over the problems.

Review 60:Comfortable rooms, a good view and an excellent breakfast menu. Handy to walk into town.

Review 61:Room service was a bit pricey (esp breakfast) and the wifi was quite slow

Review 62:Nice and clean, great bed and a good shower. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Review 63:One of the front desk staff not very friendly made us think that we were not welcome. We asked about the breakdown of our room charges and she did not seem happy to explain.

Review 64:The location is excellent and the breakfast is good. Walking distance to Salamanca market and the harbour. The bed is very comfortable.

Review 65:Wi-fi didn't work for myself or my wife, only realised it wasn't working (connected but no data going through) the day before we left because I hit my data limit so wasn't worth asking reception Pillows were ridiculously thick, reception though kindly swapped them for duck ones which were fantastic. Not sure why they have such stupidly large pillows though in the first place? Kitchenette could do with a couple more cupboards up the top. Had to take everything out of the fridge to use it and then had nowhere to put it all Heating worked - very very slowly. Hot water in our room was almost impossible to get to the right temperature then once we had it at the correct temperature it kept changing temp. Wasn't much fun bathing an 18 month old. Slightly dated - but completely forgiven due to the staff being so helpful Bit of a nightmare with an 18 month old - knives and large glass bowls were in the bottom drawers, the mirror wasn't attached to the wall at the bottom, the covers came off the light switches and the electrical conduit moved. So we were on constant lookout to make sure she didn't hurt herself.

Review 66:Good location - 5-10 min walk to most of the main attractions Very clean- almost spotless Staff were excellent - very very helpful and accomodating. Even brought us a high chair Easy to find and lots of parking

Review 67:Nil

Review 68:Clean spacious room, comfortable bed, free parking. Location is near restaurants and shops. Food served at hotel restaurant is ok and price is not expensive.

Review 69:The staff were most helpful. In comparison with every other hotel breakfast I have had it was excellent and very well priced. The bed was extremely comfortable.

Review 70:Breakfast was good value but quality was good not great. But really, not a major issue at all. Don't let that stop you.

Review 71:Can't fault service or room. Had been renovated fairly recently I think and was just terrific.

Review 72:How clean & roomy it was. Very well priced as was the mini bar. Would highly recommend this motel to my friends & would stay again. This is our second time & we will be back

Review 73:sensitive to dust. saw it on wooden things throughout the room.

Review 74:size of bed. decor was lovely too. good mini bar selections. good all day parking if needed if you were a guest though.

Review 75:Wifi can be a little slow if everyone is online. Mostly at night.

Review 76:Well located, clean and comfortable. Easy to park and the minibar is very affordable.

Review 77:The staff were very helpful and friendly. I stayed in an apartment, great value for money, and the cheapest mini bar. Hotel is close to everything. Would recommend this hotel

Review 78:The facade of the building looks particularly dated. In need of a new paint. My hotel room was particularly chilly in the evening. Woke up cold several times throughout the night.

Review 79:The quality of facilities inside the hotel looked terrific. Certainly far greater than how things looked from the street.

Review 80:No heater or heating light in the bath room, not a good idea to stay over during cold winter.

Review 81:Friendly & helpful front desk staffs. Clean comfort bed room.

Review 82:Location was good, staff were friendly and accommodating, meals and mini bar prices were very reasonable, onsite free parking, free wifi and room rates were good value. The place was clean and well presented.

Review 83:The only bad point was the free wifi required you to re-log in every time you turned on your device.

Review 84:The room was big with a lovely bathroom. The staff were really helpful about day trip ideas and responded to requests quickly and with a smile.

Review 85:I always have trouble with beds when travelling, but not at Fountainside. Theirs have always been perfect for me! Great proximity to the hospital and the town centre, and the staff, cleanliness and food have always been excellent.

Review 86:Nothing. A really terrific stay.

Review 87:Everything. Great staff, great location, great room size, great restaurant, easy parking, nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend.

Review 88:No child menu & the extra cost for room service was unusually high.To be fair if you dine in the restaurant it is economical

Review 89:Fantastic value for money.Great location, excellent facilities & I would definitely stay here again

Review 90:The location was walkable to everything we wanted, the room was comfortable, the shower was really good, the mini-bar was (shockingly) reasonably priced, the wifi was free, the price (especially during Dark MOFO) was really competitive.

Review 91:Breakfast was mediocre. There was not much of a choice. It was only $11 though.

Review 92:Room and the facilities were excellent. Bed and other amenities are great.

Review 93:There was enough space on the rack to have two carry-on suitcases opened and plenty of space in the ensuite for personal toiletries. The room was well-insulated (it was very chilly outdoors) and the mini-bar is at reasonable prices. The room (level 6) had a great view of the fountain.

Review 94:There were three of us sharing a room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. There was space for all our luggage so we didn't feel cramped. It was great to have the facilities to prepare meals.

Review 95:Everything about the hotel was excellent. The service was brilliant and the staff were really helpful. Breakfast was delicious and great value. Location was perfect, the centre of the city and Salamanca markets were a short walk away. When next in Hobart we will definitely stay here again.

Review 96:Minor thing - it would be great to have a desk chair to adjust to the height of the table. I'm a shorty and had to do a lot of work during my stay...so working on my computer was not as comfortable as I would have liked.

Review 97:Cleanliness and quiet room

Review 98:Will be good if the shower area has a glass door to prevent water from splashing out.

Review 99:This hotel works for the comfort of the travellers - the minibar is priced like a convenience store, wifi and parking is free. The staff at the front desk is very helpful too. In winter, suggest to pay a little more for the Superior rooms where the toilet seats are heated.

Review 100:The facade doesn't inspire much confidence initially but the friendly staff and the clean comfy rooms more than made up for it

Review 101:Clean, comfortable bed. Room is of good size with room for luggage and clean bathroom. Free parking Didn't use the free wifi so I can't comment on it It's about 15 min stroll to Salamanca

Review 102:At last - a hotel with sensible charges for the mini-bar, breakfast and the restaurant. I could buy a good range of wines 10-20% cheaper in the restaurant than I could at any bottle store in town.

Review 103:found shower hard to get the tempature right... wasted water

Review 104:location to city centre and very easy walk to docks. the toiletries were of high standard. staff were extremely helpful...

Review 105:Couldn't really say what we didn't like, as we didn't spot anything we didn't like.

Review 106:The Staff were wonderful, friendly & helpful. The restaurant served tasty fresh food and was very reasonably priced. The mini bar, while we didn't use it, was the best priced mini bar I've ever seen. All just a short 5 min. walk to the centre of Hobart

Review 107:None.

Review 108:Everything. The staff made our stay there all about us and our comfort and concerns. The price of the accommodation put a smile on our face too. We would return there in a heartbeat. Thoroughly recommended.

Review 109:Lack of close by coffee shop/breakfast stop or convenience store. Atm closer would also be advantage, had to walk to city to obtain.

Review 110:The staff very helpful clean and nicely decorated value for money.

Review 111:we had to attend Hobart Hospital and found that it was less than 100 metres away. Parking was free and they allowed us to park there even after booking out. Staff couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable and we will be staying there again when we need the hospital.

Review 112:The wifi was very frustrating dropping in and out.

Review 113:The hotel was close to all the places we wanted to be,walking distance to most attractions and the prices of meals and mini bar were excellent .

Review 114:Loved the restaurant, great food, great value, warm and cosy atmosphere. Staff were really lovely . When you go - try the Soup/Salad Buffet - Yum Yum

Review 115:Traffic noise and there was no parking when I arrived and had to park the car on the street and get up early to move the car before parking inspectors come.

Review 116:I liked the cleanliness and comfortable room.

Review 117:Just starting to see it getting mildly tired since it's last upgrade

Review 118:It's where we stay in Hobart for the last 5 years and it's consistently good

Review 119:The only down side to this hotel was its proximity to a busy roundabout and no double glazing. Still, it did mean we were up and out fairly early to make the most of our time in Hobart!

Review 120:On arrival, staff were extremely helpful in finding us a room on a higher floor than the one we'd booked, even though they were very busy. We liked the fact that there was a laundry available to guests - very important when travelling around. The food at both breakfast and dinner were of an extremely high standard and very competitively priced.

Review 121:Breakfast was not included for this rather price-y hotel but parking was free...so possibly cancels each other.

Review 122:Nice helpful staff despite being a big and busy hotel. Excellent location by the harbour within walking distance to key Hobart sights and restaurants.

Review 123:Nothing

Review 124:Friendly helpful staff, good location close to city waterfront. Very comfortable room and bed. Great breakfast and good value dining and wine selection. Convenient for airport. Would stay again if opportunity arose.

Review 125:Wifi was a little hard to log into but once we realised you need to also have the hotels web page open it worked well.

Review 126:Super Clean, plenty of space, studio was well stocked with kitchen utensils, lovely bathroom with nice products, great location with easy walking distance around Hobart. Free parking.

Review 127:If you select the twin rooms these are on first floor, rather noisy as the locals seem to enjoy revving their cars at the major intersection outside. This noise factor was the only downside of the hotel. Windows were double glazed and reduced most of the noise.

Review 128:Room, bed, bathroom. All clean, modern, in good condition and a very comfortable bed.

Review 129:The top floor room was execellent and incredible value for money. Comfortable bed, clean and very well appointed with the cheapest mini bar prices I have seen anywhere, ever. Great staff and an excellent location in Hobart. Top Hotel Highly recommended
