Reviews for Strandhotel Zandt aan Zee

Review 1:We got a room the first night, it smelled like a sewer because of plumbing problems. Also the room needed a reno badly! switched the second night, which was so much better. Ps. Dont stay in room 1 - its a smaller space and the door doesnt open all the way.

Review 2:Loved the location.

Review 3:Room was very small, same for bathroom. Not really value for money.

Review 4:Nice restaurant with good food and value for money. Dog friendly, one of the few on Schiermonnikoog. Breakfast was nice standard with possibility to sit outside.

Review 5:Minor glitch. They did not accept VISA.

Review 6:The setting was perfect. The bus from and to the ferry stops in front of the hotel. Bicycle rent is a short walk away. It's near the ocean and near the village. Actually everything is near on Schiermonnikoog. The view from our room was excellent. The room was spacious. And the staff hospitable. The restaurant inviting. Breakfast was good, and the things we ate a la carte were delicious. Subtle decorations have been added to give the exterior a nicer look. When we visit the Island again we will definitively go back.

Review 7:Truly a room with a breath taking view.

Review 8:Maybe the price is a bit too much for the room.

Review 9:Beautifull room with seeview.

Review 10:The spider in the room. But the staff got rid of it.

Review 11:The staff was super, nice and helpfull. Beds were very comfy and the reataurant was great!

Review 12:The unmarked step in the bathroom which is lethal on your toes as its made of iron.

Review 13:Andre

Review 14:Beds could use an upgrade

Review 15:Location Outdoor Bar/Restaurant Being able to cycle everywhere Staff - very friendly and helpful

Review 16:Alll room doors had automatic closers, making the doors slam very loud all the time. The room was very small, the tv old and small, without remote control. The shower was hanging down, I had to fasten it with a piece of rope. I saw some hairs that didn't belong to us. Most importantly, the price was a rip-off with E 120 per night. They abused the fact that there were only 2 rooms left on the island for the weekend we wanted to book.

Review 17:Hotel was kind of okay, though simple and not very well maintained. Wifi was good.

Review 18:But the hotel seemed to be only half open & looked as though it hadnever been properly clad when constructed; it nestles nicely among thedunes, but would be immensely improved if the treatment of the exteriorwas less perfunctory. The bar/ restaurant seemed only to be open atthe weekend (though I was there in mid May). The staff were a bit of amixed bunch, the younger ones friendly & amenable, the older onesrather less so. Also, they didn't accept visa debit cards, but thatseems to be a bit of an issue in The Netherlands generally.

Review 19:A lovely setting, right on the edge of the dunes, only a hundred metresfrom the beach (though a good bit further from the bathing beach downthe coast). The terrace is ideal for watching the sunset over the NorthSea with a beer to hand. At the same time it's not too far (12minutes walk, 5 minutes bike ride) from the village. The food wasgenerally tasty, well made & plentiful.

Review 20:Room service was only provided every 2nd day unless one would leave the key at the reception (which no one has told us in advance), but for 120Euro/night I would consider that as poor service. Breakfast also was rather meagre, compared to other hotels of the same price-category. Additionally, cheese, ham and jam were packed as single-portions, which might be good from a hygienic perspective, but surely not for the environment. Our room was tiny, the bathroom was old, rather shabby and poorly lit; water-temperature changed arbitrary whenever someone else flushed a toilet and there was no hair-dryer. Room light was only partially working and the bedside lamp flickered whenever one moved in bed. Service in the restaurant was slow and they forgot to bring ordered drinks. We also happened to order the same salad on two different evenings and one time it was dressed with lots of nuts, the other without any, but the price stayed the same.

Review 21:Location was nice; restaurant, bar and terrace were very nicely renovated and snuggly. Lots of board games. There was free and fast wifi all over the place. Enough room to store bikes (although not canopied) and a water cooker in the room were a plus.

Review 22:We very much liked our weekend near the beach. We stayed in a deluxe room with sea view, probably the one with the best view to NW. Breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere. All fine.

Review 23:Very Friendly. Excellent Location. Beautiful view in the Room!

Review 24:The Deluxe room was a bit tatty, especially the bathroom. The menu is boring.

Review 25:The room was good and nice. But for that price it was for sure not deluxe.

Review 26:The ambiance of the restaurant. The location.

Review 27:Food choice a bit limited

Review 28:Perfect Location on the island, very familiar atmosphere.

Review 29:Service of the staff, Rooms have good solid furniture, Very near the beach.

The Fine Print
