Reviews for Hotel Madrid

Review 1:We arrived to the hotel at 9 pm where a very "nice" guy gave us a lecture on how we should always write them a message on when we arrive (we usually do it but now we were in a hurry travelling from Chefchaouen after a small change in plans). It seemed strange already because the guy was very impolite then they asked for the passports to check us in (it was a mistake we didn't ask to see the room first as here they obtained our data). After checking in the guy finally shows us a small room with two separate beds and says it's the only room they have left, apparently it didn't matter we booked the big room with queen bed. The hotel is very unreliable as then we were left with no other option at 10 pm already. It's also worth to add that there are drug dealers around the hotel trying to sell you hashish so it's definitely not suitable for families with children. Take it as a warning and don't make the same mistake as we did. Luckily we found a better place to stay and it turned out hotel madrid was overpriced compared to other properties in the neighborhood.

Review 2:Nothing

Review 3:We first had room 22 facing the road Hassan II, was difficult to sleep because of all the traffic (trucks preparing for the Thursday market) at night. Next morning we asked for a room in the back of the hotel, they gave us room 35. This was a much quieter room and also very beautiful. As in most hotels in this town the shower water is heated with an electrical boiler, which sometimes results in a colder shower. On our first and third day the showers were perfect (temperature-wise), on our second day it was much colder (not able to go through with the shower, just the legs, I did not have enough guts for my upper body ;-)).

Review 4:Located next to a gate into the Medina. The decorations in the hotel are beautiful. The breakfast is a nice mix of Moroccan and western food. The staff is very friendly and is a great help in finding your way around. We did the walk to the cascade/waterfall from Akchour (6 hour walk in total, plus 30 minutes by grand taxi to Akchour. If you are lucky you will see monkeys during your walk, we didn't). When we came back the staff asked us about the experience and told us about their experience too.

Review 5:I think he forgot to give us the remote control to the room tv but itsok. We didnt need tv anyway.

Review 6:The hotel is right outside the Medina. The rooms are clean and the staffare very accomodating. The manager is nice and sweet!

Review 7:most maroc breakfasts consist of bread items and here is no different. If like me you drink multiple coffees in the morning it may still be of value to book the breakfast

Review 8:In keeping with the Morocco house theme this place is great. Its very well located to explore the old town.

Review 9:no heating at all in the restaurant lounge area. it was probably about 6deg C indoors in feb. rooms are small and have a small air con unit which slowly warms up the room. was wearing all my clothes, all the time.

Review 10:its cheap by european standards, close to the town centre. staff are friendly

Review 11:There's wifi on every floor but in my room the receptivity was really poor! Toiletries provided were really cheap (only a tear-off pack of anti-dandruff shampoo)

Review 12:The friendly and helpful staff and the pleasantly decorated hotel and lobby (sad to say my bed was awkwardly decked in leopard printed bedsheets :\)

Review 13:Front room noisy, in January the room cold, only one power plug in room, no hairdryer, no power plug in bathroom, no AC.

Review 14:Location, breakfast, cozy, staff very nice, room size, interior decoration

Review 15:The hotel is located just outside the medina with access point right opposite the hotel or further up the road if you prefer.Shops, cafes and restaurants, therefore close by. Everything in the town in walking distance from the hotel, except the bus station which is a cheap taxi ride away The doorman/concierge/waiter was very helpful, spoke good English and was not pushy. The over-the -top decor, may not be to your taste but was a delightful "Moroccan" touch. The breakfast( buffet style) gave the most variety, we were offered the whole month we were in Morocco. No lift. Three floors so if stairs are a problem, request a room on the lower floor.

Review 16:The fake orange juice and lemonade at the breakfast buffet were horrible! There were no hangers in my closet (which may not have been the hotel's fault - did a previous guest steal them all?) In any case, I had a struggle getting them, and was finally given only two. Not a huge issue, but having no way to hang clothes (no hooks or racks, either) in a small room made for a sloppy situation.

Review 17:centrally located; charming decor with lots of local personality (especially the lobby); canopy beds w/comfortable mattresses, plenty of blankets and pillows; heating and cooling; cheerful, helpful service from Ouafi

Review 18:The hotel is looking very tired. It needs money to be spent on it so that it can capitalise on its location. Breakfast was ordinary.

Review 19:Location Staff were most helpful Ample hot water Very clean and functional bathroom. Has a great deal of potential.

Review 36:When we arrived we where told we had to pay in euros, and that if we didn't have euros we could go to the exchange place there was nearby and change. Also tryied giving us a different bigger price. Luckily we told him we'd pay when we leave the next day and the guy in the entrance was different, and we were able to pay the normal price in the local coin.
