Reviews for Hotel Muscat Holiday
Review 1:The best available price of booking was an hoax. We had colleagues that managed to book directly for OMR19 less per night including breakfast. When we complained they said that online booking la could not be reimbursed even if the result of untruthful publicity. We then asked to at least been given breakfast given that we were paying more and getting less than other guests. We were offered one dinner at the bar (not the restaurant) and a fruit basket in the room. Hardly worth Omr 19 times 13 nights... Management never received us.
Review 2:The rooms are large aamd comfortable even if a bit dated. The food at the bar decent. Room service and cleaning staff friendly.
Review 3:Parking requires a code. There is no-one to tell you this so you either drive to the door, go inside and get it(they give a temporary one so you'll do this twice minimum because they neglect to inform you are reception at check in what you'll need thereafter) or you sit outside and toot until someone comes out. Then you reverse or go around the street again. One staff member was rude(Mr Darren) before I had even checked in and it was over this parking('Do you have a room here?'). You will find an amount considerably higher than necessary blocked on the credit card. Higher than necessary because the room service menu is very, very poor. The place is surrounded by other eateries and there is the lovely Chocolate Lounge across the road so why you would eat at the hotel, unless very late or desperate, escapes me. Exit the hotel and find the 'resident' taxi drivers hooting at you for attention. Staff loud in the corridors early in the morning. Early? 6am.
Review 4:Fast check in and out; room is spacious though definitely dated, location is good for a fast departure through Muscat's notorious traffic.
Review 5:Ive been staying in this hotel since 1997ish on business trips. The staff are good, friendly, efficient and relaxed. In spite of this being an older property, I think it still provided the best value and location for a business trip to Muscat.
Review 6:German tour groups. Breakfast was WWII over again as these groups conflict with business travellers who also partake of breakfast at the same time as they do. The time taken for breakfast was therefore much extended. I suppose this is the penalty of booking into a hotel called, Muscat Holiday. It is in serious need of renovation, décor is 1970's Arabia.
Review 7:The hotel is adequate for the business traveller but nothing more. Good gym facilities although they are open to the public and so they, and the pool get crowded during the evenings, just when I would like to use them. It has a bar which serves alcohol, which many hotels in Oman do not have.
Review 8:It took an hour for our room to be ready even though we booked in an hour after official check in. Also the AC in the sports bar was far to cold.
Review 9:The friendliness of the staff and the quickness of room service. The range of food and it's presentation as well.
Review 10:Additional payment for Smoking room Slow wifi connection Dirty rooms Not value for money Very old property and the rooms are shabby
Review 11:Nothing in fact. To my surprise, they have charged additional for Smoking Room. This was not known to me at all.
Review 12:The smell in the restaurant at breakfast time. The omelet and other eggs should be cooked in the kitchen not in the middle of the restaurant
Review 13:Mohamed at the reception. He's so gentle and very profesional.
Review 14:Use of swimming pool barred to guests as it was booked by local residents. Had to purchase water from 'mini bar' to make tea and only one tea bag and coffee sachet supplied. Argumentative receptionist wouldn't accept that this was unfair
Review 15:It looks good on the web site My third visit, so I gave it a chance, but never again.
Review 16:Room was clean and comfortable but basic Having to haggle for taxis prices every journey Far from Muscat Old Town / Souks etc
Review 17:Value for money Staff were helpful and friendly Convenient location for Airport, Grand Mosque and Grand Mall
Review 18:The air-conditioning in the two bars was extremely cold. There were signs on the entrance of the restaurant and the two bars about dress codes which was vague. My husband was wearing dress shorts and a shirt and was allowed into the restaurant and the Sports Bar but not the English Pub. There was no explanation provided. It is a very quiet hotel and feels as though there is no one around.
Review 19:We had our own car so Holiday Muscat was nicely placed, close the expressway allowing access to all of the major sites. Breakfast and meals that we had at this restaurant were good. This local fish Hammour was very nice. The gym was excellent and there was an outside lap pool if you were into swimming. The three pool tables in the Sports Bar was great.
Review 20:When you arrive the hotel no body at the entrance greets you well. You have to be at yourself till you are in your room.
Review 21:The Gym and sport activities are superb
Review 22:I walked in to ask if a room was available for the night. I was told there were none. From the hotel car park I then made a booking on booking.com. I would not say that Anne was unprofessional, but I found her manner extremely frosty and unwelcoming, almost as if we had to convince her of our worthiness to stay in this hotel. We popped our heads into the (empty) coffee shop and received a similar attitude. If you offered a lower rating than 'poor',I would have ticked it. A little more hospitable attitude towards paying guests could help compensate for the tiredness of the decor and furnishings throughout the hotel. We had an early flight so did not try the breakfast.
Review 23:The location is convenient.
Review 24:Water collects in the sink and the bath-tub.
Review 25:Friendly staff, great view from the room, comfortable bed
Review 26:Nothing
Review 27:Modern hotel full of facilities in Muscat with value for money pricing
Review 28:The pool and workout rooms were nice. There were three licensed establishments on site with bars.
Review 29:High prices rate with narrow rooms
Review 30:The local staff were very helpful I would love to see more of them.
Review 31:Location
Review 32:Very strong smell of paint and varnish in room. Found bed bugs.
Review 33:swimming pool, and bar
Review 34:the hotel is very nice place near everityng to much confort exelent
Review 35:Does what it is supposed to. Clean and comfortable place without being super fancy. Great place to stay for a short visit to Muscat.
Review 36:all
Review 37:nothing
Review 38:A lady in front disk wasn't understandable regarding the documents needed for GCC visitors !
Review 39:Expensive breakfast
Review 40:Location and friendly employees
Review 41:Everything
Review 42:Breakfast was itemized separately. My company hates paying 20$ breakfasts.
Review 43:Cleanliness, staff attitude, breakfast was good, taxi avalability
Review 44:It was only an overnight stay but the complimentary fruit plate was a nice touch. The room was comfortable and the bars were ok.
Review 45:Well maintained place with lots of facilities
Review 46:Very poor staff response. Uncomfortable room accomodation.
Review 47:Only the location. Sur Ball room. Nothing else.
Review 48:the hotel is nice, with a swimming pool, and many restaurants and shops within a short walking distance
Review 49:Bars were lousy. Breakfast too costly. Extra bed cost was same as the room cost.
Review 50:Big and Clean rooms. Value for money.
Review 51:The hot breakfast buffet was cold. There was no information in the room or Foyer about the hotel. I.E Restaurant or Bar opening times.
Review 52:Cleanliness.
Review 53:The phones in the room really need to be replaced
Review 54:Awesome location and excellent value for money
Review 55:Not Value For Money.
Review 56:Quality of the room and wifi
Review 57:Breakfast not included in the quoted rates
Review 58:Location, peaceful, nearby foodstreet
Review 59:F & B is very basic.
Review 60:Good wifi connectivity & generous in fulfilling your needs of the wifi connected devices.
Review 61:wonderfull hospitality as always !
Review 62:The internet scratch cards are a real nuisance. The breakfast is pretty poor for the money. The rooms are a little tatty and old. Definitely not worth the money I paid.
Review 63:Nothing in particular.
Review 64:It is value for money. Great location in Al Khuwair, close to the airport and amenities. Muscat Holiday Hotel is far better than some of the 5 star hotels in Muscat. The F&B outlets were great and the bar staff were extremely friendly and yet very professional in their service. This hotel will always be the hotel of my choice whenever I travel to Muscat.
Review 65:It was free wi-fi during the stay. However, they only gave us two wifi cards only for 12 hours. That is to say instead of 24 hours, we could only use it 12 hours. Rooms are decorated as a business hotel.
Review 66:It was clean. Water heater in the room. TV channels are sufficient Sports bar at the hotel.
Review 67:Although the room was clean it was a bit run down. It need to be updated. It wasn't as modern as I expected a 4 star hotel to be.
Review 68:The hotel was in a great location and very easy to get to. The staff was helpful. The bed was very comfy and the room was clean.
Review 69:Qld building need major refurnesh Very expensiv for the value The extra bed is un comfortable Batheroom not working
Review 70:Helpful staff All facilities are exeptabl spme how
Review 71:Great location and price for big room is best in town. Good facilities, licensed, friendly staff. Real close to the main road and lots of free parking. Restaurant is great. this was our second or third stay. Will come back for sure
Review 72:Value for money was a bit low given it didn't feel too much like a 4 star hotel
Review 73:Decent hotel with all facilities Reasonable late check out pricing
Review 74:No break fast included in the package 17% service tax is high amountaffects value for money. Parking was always FULL& far.
Review 75:Location was easy to find
Review 76:Reception staff were busy and kept attending to incoming calls while they dealt with me at check out, delaying me. Very minor point in the grand scheme... and it was only one occasion but I reckon it would have been really annoying if it happened a second time. Fortunately, they were pleasant and courteous.
Review 77:Location, (fab view) warm welcome, clean and comfortable. Nice welcome from the duty manager who also personally helped with my luggage. The room was pleasant and clean. The staff at reception were polite, smiling and welcoming. It was a short stay and I didn't get to use the restaurant or facilities.
Review 78:the advertised street price was 42 OMR while booking.com price was 52 OMR !!! both prices are excluding 17% tax , how come ??!!!
Review 79:the gym was good while the swimming pool was good size but always busy with kids !
Review 80:The hotel is outdated, 5 stars is too much for this hotel. The staff at the reception is not friendly.
Review 81:The hotel is clean. There is a pool outside. The staff during breakfast and in the hotel bar.
Review 82:Whenever I visit Oman,I always spend a few days in Muscat and I make a point of staying at this hotel because it is good value for money and staff hospitality is great !
Review 83:Not a great restaurant in terms of food choices & v expensive by ukstandards in terms of the food quality and choice.
Review 84:Great staff. Very friendly and helpful on reception and in therestaurant. Lovely clean swimming pool.
Review 85:difficult TV operation; instructions should be written and not on screen ( in case you cannot open the suitable channel)
Review 86:Excellent value for money:very good location, nice pool, very friendly and helpful staff, big rooms
Review 87:great hotel for what we wanted which was a place to sleep and relax after touring the sites around Muscat. The facilities were clean, value for money and the staff helpful and always willing to assist
Review 88:1) Was not happy about the pork on the menu. Do not understand why? Consequently, I did not eat in the hotel. 2) There was no information available in the hotel lobby area for items of interest to tourists. i.e. the grand mosque, the opera house, museums etc...
Review 89:The bed was very comfortable.
Review 90:Rather small pool though this is more of a city than a sunbathing hotel so this wasn't a major issue
Review 91:Good range of eating & drinking options & excellent room facilities. Very helpful reception staff. Great central location. Next to a fabulous shopping mall. I would definitely visit again.
Review 92:The hotel is very expensive not worth it ,old furniture's and no services we had to carry our luggage's to the room,With the same price we could stay in a "five stars"hotel in the same area, that was really disappointing.
Review 93:The menu. I dont think its changed since I stayed there in 96. For the occasional traveler this wont be a problem, I stay there a lot so this has become a little tiresome. Im also a vegetarian and salad isnt the only thing we eat !!
Review 94:The staff are good, always friendly, the rooms are clean more spacious than some of the newer hotels. The Ibis opposite for example. In that hotel you have to leave your room and go into the hallway if you want to turn around.
Review 95:The hotel is a cheat. First they told me that as as per my booking Ishould come "tomorrow". When I showed them evidence that my bookingstarts "today", they said ok, sorry. I had asked for extra-bed just incase if I need it. However, before checking-in I told the hotel that Idont need the extra-bed and I was told, its already charged as perbooking.com Policy. Booking.com is saying they don't have any controlover hotel charges and it is only acting as a "intermediary".
Review 96:I suppose as Ive been there so much I have gotten very used to the roomservice menu, so I think it could do with an overhaul.
Review 97:Ive been going there on business since 97, and location wise its kind ofcentral. It may not be the newest of hotels, but its well maintained andpretty fair value. The staff are generally very good also. Omanis arevery genial and nice people and this comes across in the hotel. Mohammedwho checked me in and out on the front desk is professional and polite. The expatriate staff are similarly well trained, specifically Gail whois friendly and attentive
Review 98:It is not holyday in and not like other holiday inn hotels , when Igoogled hoiday in muscat it gave me this .The towels are not clean thereis yellow and brown stains on the t owels. Like other holiday inn Iexpected more facilities like internet in all rooms and not by cards ,like more than one restorant, like a seperate coffe shop . when I bookedon your site , I thought I paied the charge of my 2 night but when Ichecked in they told me it is just for reservation and I was lucky tohad money, please make it clear on your web site that I should pay when Iam in the hotel and all information of my visa card is for reservationand not for paying
Review 99:Hotel staff and welcoming , gave me best advices during my stay
Review 100:The tall barman in the sports bar was rude and unhelpful - not willingto happily respond to a simple requeat for a tv channel search -shouldn't be dealing with the public!
Review 101:1) Could not buy beer/wine at the poolside bar from 1:00pm to 6:00pm but this is an Omani thing. Muscat Holiday is abiding by local Omani law (I think). Yet, I could buy beer or wine inside the hotel restaurant pub/restaurants during this same time. How screwy is that?
Review 102:1) Comfortable bed/pillows2) Very nice pool 3) Churchill's Pub 4) You can purchase beer or wine in the hotel restaurants/pub/poolside 5) Located halfway between airport and Muttrah so its centrally located to visit various places in Muscat 6) Staff very helpful when we had questions
Review 103:Found the TV very complicated to use and when I did finally manage to find all the channels it would have been useful to know which were in English rather than having to go through the whole lot.
Review 104:Breakfast was excellent, and was not just continental which is what expecting. However, the price was not included in the room rate. The pool was nice too. Beds were comfortable. Shower was good.
Review 105:having to pay for breakfast, wasn't included in the deal. Internet login process flawed, expensive if you have to pay for it.
Review 106:breakfast
Review 107:hotel staff , house keeping
Review 108:hotel location
Review 109:Employees are not responsive to some customers' needs
Review 110:price; moreover taxes and breakfast excluded. fruit plate delivered only first day
Review 111:clean, spacieux, not far from the airport, relatively good address
Review 112:Good location - between airport and city
Review 113:i reached at 8 am , they helped me to check in at 9 a.m. instead 1 pm . Also when i asked for LATE checked out they didnt charge me alot
Review 114:I was in muscat only for one nite, and this hotel is a little far frome the mail attraction. Taking taxi in muscat is expensive
Review 115:the room is clean
Review 116:Outdated hotel
Review 117:Friendly personal
Review 118:lunch and dinner buffets could improve
Review 119:Location convenient, good fitness center and pool, rooms big, wine and beer being served
Review 120:Time taken to clean room each day even though the place was not full.
Review 121:It is very easy to access once found. Quiet. Lots of parking.
Review 122:TV, just a few English channels Limited restaurant options
Review 123:Room, pool, bar
Review 124:The room has met to my minimum expectation of a comfortable room to stay. One of the best room that provide a comfy pillow after a long flight.
