Reviews for Libertador Lago Titicaca Puno
Review 1:10% service charge added to final bill. Yes, it was mentioned on the listing but why not just include it in the advertised price to simplify comparisons? None of the other Peruvian hotels we booked through Booking.com added this fee on.
Review 2:Gorgeous views of the lake, fabulous breakfast spread. Loved being a bit outside of Puno and the lakeside walking path around the island the hotel is located on. Very quiet and peaceful.
Review 3:The staffs at the reception is a bit rustic, asked us to pay one person breakfast but we booked a double room. Also the hotel booking policy is very bad, if you really want to stay here, better book in last minute. We booked 2 months in advanced and found out that we over paid at least 100 dollars for a even worse room!
Review 4:The hotel location is really good, a bit out of puno to give you some private space. The restaurant is fantastic
Review 5:Some of the staff were unprofessional, almost incompetent. It's very remote so if you want to do anything in town you need to take a taxi.
Review 6:Great birding on the island. Great breakfast buffet.
Review 7:The staff service was excellent and food at their Uros restaurant was delicious! Excellent holiday, shame they couldn't provide an iron and the beds were a bit hard.
Review 8:- Excellent location on a peninsula in lake Titicaca (you can walked around the peninsula) - Very nice breakfast, good to very good diner - Great view from the rooms - Large, clean and comfortable rooms (if someone says they furniture is 70es like, that person has not lived in the 70es) - WLAN worked nicely - Friendly and very very helpful hotel staff. Examples: I forgot my ID card and they sent it to the next location of my trip. When Perurail canceled a train, they organized a car transfer to Cusco witihin minutes. (This is what makes a great hotel, not a one or two more machines in the gym)
Review 9:Fabulous hotel right on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Just a bit outside of Puno gives it a very quiet and private atmosphere, yet just a short ride to the city centre. Highly recommended.
Review 10:The receptionist. She was quite rude, telling me that I'd cancelled one of the rooms we were expecting so they didn't have space for all of us. We'd booked through booking.com and it wasn't until I insisted she show me the email she had insisted they had received that (which she searched for but didn't actually show me) that our room suddenly became available again! No explanation or apology from her - her colleague had to come over and apologise!
Review 11:The spaciousness of the hotel, the comfortable beds, the private pier to catch your boat to the islands... We only stayed one night and arrived late/left early so didn't have a full experience of the hotel.
Review 12:Checking in at the Libertador feels like stepping into 1970 when I am sure the hotel had its hay days. It is clean, nice and has friendly staff and perfect location so if you get a good deal it is probably worth it, it was fine for us during our short stay.
Review 13:The location was perfect and the view from the hotell over the Titkaka lake were great.
Review 14:The WiFi connection was very poor in our room. I would have expected better signal being in a five star hotel. Additionally, an indoor pool would have been ideal but the jacuzzi compensates for that.
Review 15:Breakfast was fresh and had a great variety. Staff was very friendly and the view was incredible!
Review 16:Public areas were cold. wifi was weak in rooms. Furnishing and decor were tired. Rooms were clean and the views were very good which is a plus. This is not a 5 star hotel by any means.
Review 17:Trips booked in Lake Titicaca through the hotel were very expensive. I asked for collection from the train station but there was no-one there to meet me, did not feel comfortable arriving in Puno without collection as can be a bit scary at night time.
Review 18:Very comfortable rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good food in the restaurant and nice bar.
Review 19:This hotel is lovely but completely unprepared to handle the large tour groups that it hosts. Since it is out of town, there is no where else to eat but if you are not part of a tour group the restaurant will have no space for you. Food is mediocre. Wifi does not work in the rooms.
Review 20:The room is far too small. Asked for an upgrade, nothing available. Only heating...not able to open windows for fresh air Shower water temperature running from dangerously hot to cold am and pm even after constant temperature adjustment The plastic shower curtain in the shower and small size of the tub/shower therefore making contact with the plastic curtain during showering The very small sized bathroom - the size of an Ensuite! Very noisy as all doors including the bathroom door do not close easily therefore they need to be pushed heavily and make a jarring sound....this is happening all over the hotel Noise from reception and bar travel up and into rooms near the lifts
Review 21:The view was amazing
Review 22:The wifi from the room I was staying was weak. I almost had to go to the restaurant or lobby area. That could improve. I had to use the business center to better have internet. But business center was very useful.
Review 23:The view of the Lake from the Room was exellent, breathtaking and employees were very friendly and accommodating.
Review 24:The location is terrible. It is way outside of Puno, But that is how they get amazing views. The price of the hotel is very expensive compared to other options. $160/night. Then each taxi ride into town is S/10 there and S/10 back. So that adds up. Plus their tours a stupidly overpriced. They wanted like $50 per person for Lake Titicaca tour. We went downtown and it was S/30. Almost 1/5 the price.
Review 25:The hotel is top notch, the views of Lake Titicaca are amazing. Breakfast is about as good as you can get. Real nice.
Review 26:The staff is a bit lost.Do not understand English. Rooms do not have Tea/Coffee and if you ask for it they say it will be charged. Secondly no Iron in the room. For a five star hotel these should be standard or provided on request without questions.Mostly groups come here.
Review 27:The hotel is nice and open. Location is good with good views.Breakfast is good.Restaurant has good food.
Review 28:Laundry was expensive
Review 29:We arrived at 5am and were checked straight into to a super king room with amazing views. Restaurant was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful
Review 30:The hotel is in the style of more classic business hotels. Which is ok if you are used to it and if you are not looking for something with more character. The jacuzzi was closed when during our stay. Toilet is not flushing always 100%, but compare to other places in the area, it was still pretty descent. Safe requires keys, that you need to ask at reception. No numbers system in European or US hotels.
Review 31:We've stayed in the room with lake view, which was absolutely stunning. With good wheather, you can see fabulous sun rising in the early morning. The pool is free for use, which offered relaxing activity after day tour. The hotel is filtering the visitors, that arrives which makes you feel secure. The hotel is 5 min drive from city center, but thanks to this it is pretty calm environement that helps for relaxing sleep. The breakfast offers quite a big choice with a special sugar free food - big plus. Overall the breakfast quality is quite good. Staff is aware and inform you about all needed formalities to avoid paying extra 18% tax for Peruvians living abroad. Might not be the case of other hotels. You will need passport and imigration paper received at the border when arriving to Peru and eventually ID or permit of the country where the native is living. Bar is preparing tasty Pisco sour. Staff is very friendly and always willing to help. Welcome plate with sweets was tasty and good suprise. On site restaurant is maybe a bit expensive for local standards, but the food is very tasty and in enough quantity. Rooms are clean, so as bathroom.
Review 32:Maybe your Wifi service can been improved.
Review 33:Sandra, your front desk staff was excellent. She's very professional, polite and helpful. Thanks so much! The gorgeous view of the Lake & walk around the Hotel. Also the return of my left garments. Mucho Gracias! Khoo & Dominic, Sydney.
Review 34:Hotel was a little bit dated and could do with some updating. Booked a taxi to La Paz through the hotel which up to the Bolivian border was good but then swapped at the border to a smaller cramped car which then wouldn't drive us to our final destination in La Paz and had to stop another taxi to swap to.
Review 35:Great views of lake from hotel and bedroom. Restaurant was good. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel clean.
Review 36:Room size a bit small and bathroom is due for renovation
Review 37:The location overlooking the lake and the Uros islands; Staff arranged a private boat from the hotel's jetty for us to visit the islands; good restaurant; staff friendly and helpful.
Review 38:The whole place is so white and cold. Receptionist seems cold though they try their best to help. Had an bad experience with calling a taxi in. The receptionist should have regulated the order which the taxi is called in. Location can be bad or good. Breakfast was not ready by 5am and we had to check out by 6am.
Review 39:Clean rooms. Can see both sunset and sunrise from the hotel. Have a park ard the hotel.
Review 40:Didn't have facilities would expect of 5 star e.g. Gym had about 4 pieces of equipment and 'spa' only was available after 4pm Have to pay premium on tours for hotel pick up, due to location being slightly outside town
Review 41:Fabulous views over lake Very clean Comfy bed Best buffet breakfast had in s. America so far
Review 42:Hot tub was cold. Steam room did not get very steamy. Shower went from hot to cold and back to hot. Would have expected more from a 5 star especially at these prices!
Review 43:the view! the staff the bed the property
Review 44:Restaurant staff unfriendly service poor food good but served coldish both nights had to ask to heat in microwave not good enough for 5 star also no pool or beauty salon
Review 45:Beautiful setting reception staff friendly and efficient
Review 46:External phone calls from the phone in the room had to be approved by Reception (????). I tried to call a number in Lima and got no connection. Receptionist refused to call the number from the phone at the reception and I had to use my mobile and pay roaming charges.
Review 47:location easy parking and access by car fast Internet
Review 48:Staff was fine, but not as welcoming and fluent in English as I would have expected. The lobby bar service was terrible during the day - hard to get service between noon and 5 pm.
Review 49:location, views, lobby and restaurant were all terrific.
Review 50:Bedroom is huge! Really good, 2 chairs and a mini table, little fridge Very clean room Bathroom is also big and comfortable with many facilities for the guest Breakfast is amazing, so many options and natural juices, homemade breads Staff is very polite and nice, ready to help you Great food in the restaurant, we did not leave it to have diner at Puno downtown for nothing! Nice relaxing area with sauna and jacuzzi Wonderful and special room view to the Titicaca Lake! That was breathtaking! Also, the hotel also allowed us to do a late checkout which helped us a lot due to our late flight.
Review 51:As usual with five-star hotels, lobby staff are over eager to help. I'm perfectly capable of taking my own bag to my room and not having to pay a tip for it.
Review 52:The view is second to none. The facilities are excellent, room service prices are reasonable and staff are very helpful.
Review 53:Staff not helpful with advice on tours and local restaurants.I Hadexpected this service from a 5 star hotel.
Review 54:Fantastic location on Lake Titicaca. The rooms were comfortable andwell serviced.
Review 55:We traveled throughout Peru for 10 days. One of the best staff persons we met was Milagros - who works at the front desk of the hotel. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and most helpful.
Review 56:The Restaurant had no atmosphere, the staff were rude and the food expensive and mediocre.
Review 57:The location was great and the views amazing. The hotel facilities were good
Review 58:Location: quiet! Facilities are excellent. Restaurant serves excellent food by meticulously trained waiters. Breakfast buffet offers everything you'd wish for.
Review 59:Diner is quite expensive in comparison with peruvian standards Far from the city center but that's not really negative because Puno is ugly
Review 60:Beautiful view on titicaca lake Good breakfast, with almost everything Good facilities
Review 61:The room was a little small.
Review 62:The location on its on secure private island was great. The food was pretty good considering the location. The service was excellent. The amenities were great. The price - well, you can't beat it. The room was very clean - we had a perfect view of the sunrise over the lake! the hotel also set up a private tour of the floating islands for us and it was worth the cost.
Review 63:It took too long to check in. The hotel had a communication issue with booking.com and did not update changes in our booking.
