Reviews for Hotel do Sado Business & Nature
Review 1:Don't bother booking a junior suite- it's in the old part of the building where the air con isn't built in and the mattress is hard as rocks. Ended up being moved to a twin room which is in the new part of the building. Staff aren't overly enthused to help and activities must be booked 2/3 days in advance which was not mentioned.
Review 2:Location was good, staff dealt with problems when I had them
Review 3:We had a spider with its cobweb in the room, cigarette butts on the balcony and in the dining room the windows haven't been cleaned for many years. The space around the toilet in the junior suite is not cramped, it is very cramped.
Review 4:Nice view over the town.
Review 5:Despite of explicit mentioning in booking order, very bad wifi connection (which can be utterly frustrating)...
Review 6:Beautiful view, even more amazing view from restaurant, however standards have changed since '85 and they need to realise this..
Review 7:Room we were first shown claimed a king size bed but didn't have one and the wi-fi didn't work. Balcony OK but no afternoon or evening sun so no chance of a sunny G&T before dinner- all rooms of this type face east. Breakfast only fair - but not bad for the price we paid. Location is awful - although view is great. At the top of a quite steep hill, about a mile from "downtown", in an area you wouldn't want to walk through at night, meaning you have to drive down and park for an evening meal ( didn't try the restaurant). The locals treat the "priority roads" like race-tracks and they aren't clear or well signposted, leading to the nearest to a collision I have ever experienced. Scary. Maintenance standards in room left something to be desired.
Review 8:The room we finally got was excellent; large, good bathroom, balcony with good view, two large beds, fair wi-fi. Super aircon. Staff very helpful in facilitating room change and service generally very good. See "don't likes"
Review 9:You can not imagine this hotel has a 4 star rate...? It is very old, not updated at all. Urgently need renovation. Very noisy hotel, as there is wood in the floors you hear all the moves from the other guests, next to you - above you...
Review 10:Breakfast bring a 4 star hotel I would expect the fruit juices to be natural not from concentrate especially the orange juice.
Review 11:The room was great. Spectacular views.
Review 12:Junior Suite was a bit dated; Off the beaten path, if you don't have a car to reach city center.
Review 13:Politeness of the staff; Amazing view of the city bay; Good restaurant.
Review 14:Neighborhood dogs were barking continuously.
Review 15:Our room on the corner of the 3rd floor had a view of the city, the harbor and the Sado River. Felipe at the front desk was of great assistance throughout our stay.
Review 16:The room was quoted as having a balcony which we hoped to make use of during the evening, however it was so small there was insufficient space available to allow for any form of seating. Breakfast proved to be a disappointment with a limited choice on offer. The Bathroom though spacious looked tired; the separate shower cubicle's fixtures and fittings were of poor quality and the bath had no plug for some reason. Air conditioning was provided by a portable unit which proved noisy and ineffective.
Review 17:Location and views.
Review 18:No hot water. Slightly run-down air with general lack of maintenance. Too far to walk into the restaurant area of Setubal. Very uncomfortable bed.
Review 19:Excellent receptionist who immediately changed our room for a better one when we complained. Very nice views. Large rooms. Good parking.
Review 20:We were hungry when we arrived at the hotel (around 5 pm) and wanted to have lunch there. But the restaurant was closed until 7 pm. So we went to the city but restaurants were closed there too. So we had to wait until that time. But we had children with us and we all wanted to eat. So I think a hotel restaurant should have a different policy with opening times.
Review 21:We stayed there one night and it was very good for us. Recommend to others.
Review 22:Nothing negative. All perfect, even the weather in December :-)
Review 23:Comfortable, great panoramic and sunny views from the balcony. Very friendly staff!
Review 24:Stunning Views. Quiet location.
Review 25:breakfast.
Review 26:perfect location, good parking, nice staff.
Review 27:Older hotel, especially bathroom needs renewal.
Review 28:Great view over the bay. Surely not 4star but for only 60€ per room this was good
Review 29:Shower was dripping constantly (waste of water).
Review 30:Friendly staff, very nice to our infant. Great view from the room.
Review 31:Location and the magnificent view
Review 32:Beds
Review 33:Nice hotel with a view 25 min walk from the waterfront. However, we had some problems finding our way.
Review 34:everything plus the view
Review 35:Would have appreciated a pool on the terrace. WiFi was very unstable during our stay.
Review 36:Wonderful view from the terrace. Big, comfortable rooms
Review 37:Big, modern and clean rooms. Restaurant on top with view on the city of Setubal.
Review 38:noise from events at the hotel
Review 39:Location
Review 40:It was quite cold inside the rooms and also in the breakfast room. AC inside the rooms was not heating. Only cold air.
Review 41:Big, spacious and nice furnished rooms.
Review 42:The lift was out of order and I thought the charge for the bottle ofwater (1 euro) in the room was penny or more precisely euro pinching. There was no coffee/tea making facilities in the suite.
Review 43:The location is excellent as were the staff and the sea viewJunior suite.
Review 44:Poor lighting in the room. The breakfast was limited choice. The bathroom shower tiles needed a good clean. Didn't like a shower curtain. Lot of noise from barking dogs around.
Review 45:The room was very large, clean. Good restaurant.
Review 46:The hotel was designed for business conferences and awkward for regular travellers. There was no 'nature' in the area so it was a bit misleading. The rest of the town and restaurants require driving a distance.
Review 47:The room was very nice with an interesting view of the Setubal harbour.
Review 48:The accommodations are great, Breakfast very good and the most important thing: The take care of us like a kings. Very friendly staff, very professional and always smile ready assist in anything we need. Locations, wonderful view and quality and price are great. Please, book now, used!
Review 49:There was nothing at all we did not like about this hotel
Review 50:This Hotel is fantastic, the decor, the art gallery, the views over the river and beaches, the rooms are spacious, well furnished and all have balconies. Even the buffet breakfast is sensational !
Review 51:The hotel is a nice and business-oriented place. the "bay view" room is very good (however a little hot due to the sun). Setunbal is a small seaside town, the beach is good. Would recommend having a car since the hotel is right on the top of the hill.
Review 52:We could not control the air conditioner and we could hear the neighbour's moves because of the wooden floor.
Review 53:The view, the terrace and the free wi-fi access.
Review 54:Would have liked a swimming pool on the terrace as it was so hot!
Review 55:The setting is very good, especially the terrace with fantastic views across the town and the estuary. Great breakfasts and very friendly staff.
Review 56:Hotel is in desperate need of a lick of paint and plaster workon the balconies. The Top-Floor restaurant looks very nice but , the menus are extremely limited.
Review 57:Reception was excellent and very friendly staff
Review 58:Having to request toilet paper for the bathroom. Having to request a change of room because of noise from the dining room and elevator.
Review 59:Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Review 60:We selected the hotel as it has a restaurant. As we traveled with 2small infants we need the in premise restaurant so that we can use baby-phone and/or put the kids to bed if dinner takes to long for them.We arrived at Valentines day. 1St experience. The lobby staff didn'twant us to go to the restaurant because we a) didn't have areservation and b) had 2 small infants. 2Nd experience, in therestaurant we only after a long discussion with the restaurant ownercould deviate from the set menu. It would have been nice if the lobbystaff would have been more friendly and would have used the moderncommunication tools (I reserved on-line) to send incoming guests a quickemail. Would have our experience better!
Review 61:The location but as we ate in the (by the way very good) Hotel Restaurant this was not a problem
Review 62:Great Hotel, Free Parking, Great view over Setubal, friendly staff.
Review 63:For the price of the hotel we received excellent service and accommodation. I would definetely recommend to others. It would be nice to have a sign at the to of the road where you turn right.
Review 64:Some of the staff were very inexperienced at handling older people Pepe was outstanding the others were not competent eg forgetting that we had ordered drinks not always lemon in the gin and tonic red wine from the bar ice cold water was not hot in our room on first night local dogs very aggressive barkers party very noisy until about two oclock am in summary ok for a business one night but not good for holiday no swimming facility and down market locality
Review 65:Good view food was good good value for money generally some of the staff very friendly
Review 66:One drawback is its location, though. I would recommend it to people by car, as it is on top of a hill - thus the panoramic views - but you need to be the sporty type to walk up there. I did several times and survived, so it can be done, just be prepared for it.
Review 67:The room and the bathroom are both very spacious. The rooms have a balcony, which may have nice views of the town and the sea. (Mine had - just asked for it and I got it.) Nice restaurant and bar too.
Review 68:I didn't like it at all, the rooms had a very disturbing smell, and the instead of water flowing out the taps it was something more like uring coming out instead!! Me and my wife wanted to have some quality time in the nature but instead we had a horrible night, we couldn't rest or at least take a shower. But to be hounest, the view from the room was excelent. The food wasn't even near ok. They had just two choices to pick for a meal.. I would never go back, that's for sure.
Review 69:No pool, how can you build such fine hotel without an outdoor pool, Few people staying there and breakfast was minimum. Small bed for couple
Review 70:Nice location and friendly staff, good value for money if you are able to walk downtown or take a taxi
Review 71:We were highly impressed with the staff and facilities at the Hotel do Sado, will recommend it to friends and will certainly visit again. Our suite was modern and spacious with views to the estuary and mountains. The restaurant on the 8th floor has glass on three sides and gave the feeling of being on a cruise liner. An excellent sojourn.
Review 72:I stay on a Junior Suite with a great view but when the night came the room lack on illumination, in addition there was only one power plug available and it was really bad located. Some of the staff (not all) give you the impression that is a effort for them to serve you, this is nothing to do with language or culture, since I'm Portuguese I understand the language and leaving big part of my life in Portugal is safe to say I understand the culture
Review 73:The location on the top of Setubal, which provide a great view of the city and the sea.
Review 74:One does need a car to quickly get from there to the city of Setubál. The room was quite noisy.
Review 75:An amazing terrace with a stunning view over Setubál.
Review 76:hard to find even with sat nav great location though once we found it
Review 77:fantastic views over setubal
Review 78:Good facilities under ground parking available
Review 79:Old breakfast. Arguing with the staff about the poor wifi.
Review 80:The views. Spacious rooms.
Review 81:Clean, location, view
Review 82:Very good breakfast and dinner. Secure parking in basement.
Review 83:Internet wireless connection very slow.
Review 84:Friendly and helpfull recepcionist, helped and gave nice suggestions.
Review 85:Musty wardrobe Haphazard house keeping
Review 86:Bed very comfortable Wifi
Review 87:Staff very helpful Price of room + excellent dinner a steal
Review 88:Swimming pool and gym would be nice.
Review 89:Great personnel, great views, close to mountaineous area.
Review 90:friendly staff, clean, good value...
Review 91:Difficult to find.
Review 92:Nice rooms, good restaurant, beautiful view.
Review 93:The fact that the family room is only one room.
Review 94:The view
