Reviews for Hotel Hacienda Puno
Review 1:The reception replied to my emails after a long time, for some of them almost two days after. Also, my friend didn't feel very well one of the nights because of the altitude sickness she had less oxygen. She went to the reception to ask them to provide the oxygen mask and they were very rude and allow her less than 5 minutes to stay because they were sleeping.
Review 2:Great location and a comfortable clean room
Review 3:The first floor rooms are NOISY, next to the reception desk and the bar. One of the ladies in the morning staff was especially unfriendly and unhelpful. We almost lost our tour call because she couldn't bother to call our name, even though we had already asked if someone had stopped by to look for us. The staff started construction work at 7:30am!!! Banging all over the building. The heater in the room was useless and when we asked for an extra blanket we received a questioning look. Wouldnt stay there again.
Review 4:The staff was very rude and unhelpful, they charged $1.50 US for local calls, check out and late check out times were ridiculously early. Shower was only luke warm water.
Review 5:The only good things were that the location was central, they gave us extra towels, and the wifi signal was very good, the breakfast was also a pretty good spread.
Review 6:Rooms are not very modern.
Review 7:Good location in Puno. Nice breakfast with lots of choice and on the top floor with nice view on the lake and the city. Extra heating in the room if needed.
Review 8:First night we stayed in an old but ok bedroom and second night in a super cool bedroom (newer and bigger) for the same price... I didn't understand why.
Review 9:Bed was super comfortable and the bedroom clean. Good breakfast! We left our luggage there for 4 days while we went to machu pichu!
Review 10:- The Breakfast was poor. - Some staff were really annoying about receiving tips for carrying our luggage. - The toilet paper holder was 3m from the toilet. Who the hell designed this?
Review 11:- Small Hotel with comfortable rooms - The Wifi reached upto our room and was of really good quality. - Small bathroom but with a good shower & bath. - Comfortable bed.
Review 12:Rooms are a bit worn, but clean
Review 13:Very friendly and helpful staff, tasty breakfast, location just around the corner of the main street. Upon arrival there was no warm water in the bathroom - staff checked and fixed immediately
Review 14:The room did not have a window outside, only to a small court yard so you couldnt keep the drapes open. Also lighting inthe room was very bad. The heater was weak and it was cold at night. Also no soundproofing so you could hear everything that was going on outside the room on the first floor.
Review 15:The location was great, staff friendly and breakfast good.
Review 16:There was pretty loud construction going on in the building during the day which made the place seem a little less classy, but fortunately it stopped at a reasonable hour. Our window looked out into a an extremely small, extremely filthy "courtyard."
Review 17:The place is kept up well, and the staff was very accommodating. They let us leave our luggage while we stayed on one of the lake islands, and the doorman gave us a helpful tip on how to make the cheapest local calls. Nice hot shower, and it stays warm in bed during the winter thanks to the room heater and a heavy alpaca blanket. The hotel restaurant on the top floor was a nice feature not only for the included breakfast but for a convenient dinner when you need to make it an early night.
Review 18:The hotel was freezing (including the foyer, breakfast room and bed room). The heater did very little but to make things worse the staff turned it off.
Review 19:The TV was very clear and the cable reception excellent. Comfortable bed.
Review 20:We got a special deal on this hotel - great value for money. Very clean, comfortable beds. They also gave us breakfast earlier than it is normally served because we were leaving early for our trip.
Review 21:We had a room without a window. The room was cold and the bed was uncomfortable. The personal was not very friendly. Check out time is very early at 9am.
Review 22:The location of the hotel is good.
Review 23:We arrived very early by bus at 5.30am and we asked for either an early check in our somewhere to leave our bags. The receptionist asked us to wait and an hour later we eventually stored our bags after having the staff speak in Spanish to each other, point at us and laugh. We regularly asked during the morning if there was a room available, but were made to wait till 12pm despite seeing numerous people check out during the morning.
Review 24:The location is very central and the breakfast great
Review 25:Express laundry service not available and I was sent to an outside laundry which was next door but at $310 per night you would expect the hotel to handle it The sewer gave a horrible smell to our room and although the staff was quick to seek to remediate, it was not pleasant The price was onerous for what the hotel looks like and has to offer
Review 26:If you want to be in the center of Puno its fine
Review 27:This hotel is very serious about applying Peruvian tax laws so please make sure to have your immigration card with you when you check in or else you will be charged an extra 18% upon departure.
Review 28:Manuel, the Head of Hacienda Puno, used his own mobile to make a long distance phone call to Lima to help us reserve a taxi to bring us back to our hotel. His helpful gesture was way beyond what he needed to do to assist us.
Review 29:We seized a promotion on booking.com to stay in this hotel and felt that the hotel treated us as second-priority clients. When we arrived, they told us we would have to pay an additional 18% tax even though we were both foreigners because my boyfriend couldn't provide his Andean migration card. The hotel was expanding its facilities and gave us a room right next to the construction work which was very uncomfortable especially if we wanted to rest a bit past 6:45am... Check out was at 9am which I have never seen in any other hotel before, and they refused to give us a late check-out option, which was very inconvenient for us as our flight out was late that night. The location of the hotel can be a bit noisy especially on weekend nights so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Internet connection was appalling and barely worked during the three days that we stayed there.
Review 30:The breakfast was good and complete, the hotel restaurant with the view on the lake is a nice feature.
Review 31:There were construction activities from 0700-2000 that created quite a bit of noise, but not an issue unless you wanted to sleep late.
Review 32:Location, rooms, and breakfast.
Review 33:Early check out time of 9am and staff were not willing to give us a later check out even though we arrived late at night. The breakfast was a bit limited and not to the standard you would expect for a 3* hotel.
Review 34:Nice warm shower, good location and wifi
Review 35:Internet kept dropping out and was slow a lot of the time but I think this happens in Peru in general.
Review 36:Comfortable room, very friendly & helpful staff, great breakfast and restaurant, and a great location - highly recommend Hotel Hacienda Puno!
Review 37:Receptionists were not really friendly but one woman, they were telling either minimum information or joking on the fact as tourist we don't know much about it works there in Puno in general.
Review 38:The position is perfect, near the plaza de armas and not far from the port. The bathroom was always with warm water and well equipped. The breakfast was really abundant and with many possibilities, service at table is nice.
Review 39:Nothing. Everything was great!
Review 40:Hotel is very nice with very good bathroom, clean and comfortable beds. Hotel serves a very good breakfast buffet with so many items which is included in room price. It has a restaurant on the top floor with views of Lake Titicaca. Hotel is located right next to main Plaza with so many restaurants and shopping near by.
Review 41:First day we stayed we liked the room. However after we stayed a night at the Titicaca lake we got a different room: the suite, which seemed like a nice upgrade... seemed that is. We couldn't sleep at all because the room was located at the street and there was honcking the entire night. There was only single glass, not enough isolation to prevent the enormous noice.
Review 42:good breakfast
Review 43:Probably the noisiest hotel I've stayed in. Not only guests leaving early for trips, but the room cleaning staff making a racket with their trolleys and wallow talkies from 6 in the morning.
Review 44:The location near to the Main Square and the hot spot of Lima Street. A quaintness to the decor and stairs was nice.
Review 45:Too many guests checking in and out which gets noisy as I stayed on the ground floor room. Luggage gets in the way too.
Review 46:Location n helpful staff. Good shower and bathroom.
Review 47:Heater not great...just square wall pad with no fan to circulate heat...common here I guess? Noise from streat as windows are not sealed for sound.
Review 48:Convenient location, room size, internet better than many, cleanliness, size of shower, lots of hot water.
Review 49:Our room had a glass wall with the street view which is awsome besides the fact that there is no sound nor thermal isolation.
Review 50:Great location, clean and cozy room, nice staff. Breakfast is excellent. You can arange your tours from the hotel.
Review 51:the street outside is busy all night long with honking taxis. Try and get a higher room if you can! Also bring some earplugs.
Review 52:good breakfast, great location, helpful staff
Review 53:The hotel was clean and the staff was very helpful also with special requests. Very comfortable beds and good breakfast! It is only one block away from the plaza major. We enjoyed our time there and would recommend the hotel.
Review 54:The staff were especially helpful, calling a cab at the right time for us to be at the bus station, allowing us to "hang"in the lobby. We had a boat tour that returned at 4:00 and they let us store our luggage all day, then sit in the spacious lobby while we waited to leave for the bus station.Very good location.
Review 55:Manager in breakfast room was officious and rude. Then he was in evening dining area on last night when rain kept me inside. Service was dreadful. Could this have been deliberate why? Beats me
Review 56:Reception staff were fantastic. Warm and enthusiastic, they were always ready to help.
Review 57:Annoying noise in bedroom, probably from fridge or freezer, that kept starting and stopping all night.
Review 58:Location right in centre of Puno Plenty of choice at breakfast
Review 59:Staff appear a little unhelpful for a hotel of this quality/price.
Review 60:A high quality hotel but at a price, I don't think the service was any better than cheaper hotels during my stay in Peru but the breakfast buffet was certainly the best I saw during my Peruvian tour. I wanted to book an extra night, I was told to do it through booking.com and I think this was the staff being lazy. If you're on a budget I would choose a different hotel but if the price is right this hotel is centrally located and the facilities are top notch.
Review 61:I asked to have my passport placed in the safe for the night that I was gone, but it was found in an unlocked drawer when I asked for it. I was not given the wake up call that I requested.
Review 62:The hotel is very close to the main plaza and a "tourist" strip containing many restaurants with good value meals. The room for my first night was huge and clean, while a different room given to me when I returned from Lake Titicaca was much smaller and a little dingy. They stored my bag without question when I left for one night.
Review 63:The street below was very noisy.
Review 64:Good location for accessing puno. breakfast was fantastic and staff very pleasant. Beds were comfortable. Nice to have a relaxing bath and room had a heater.
Review 65:OMG, what a noise from the street! there is no isolation on the window,if you want to sleep bring earplugs or something, the noise is really bad!
Review 66:the staff helped us out from the troubled situation regarding the agricultural strike,a big thanx, otherwise we would be in a veeery big trouble.
Review 67:The bath tube plug wouldn't hold the water and the wi-fi connection wasn't great in the room
Review 68:The bed was comfortable, the hotel was charming, good value for money and the food in the restaurant was a treat
Review 69:I asked to have my passport stored in the safe for the night that I went to Amantani Island and it was left in a drawer. They forgot to give me a wake up call on my second morning.
Review 70:The staff was friendly. Plenty of hot water, good WiFi. Very close to restaurants.
Review 71:One of the staff members
Review 72:The was clean, the room spacious and bright. The bed was very comfortable and there was hot water both in the shower and sink.
Review 73:As often only a window to a dark, tiny yard. The worse thing was that there was a machine next to the room working the whole night long. Internet did not function in the room. So: take care with special offers. It seems that they give uncomfortable rooms!
Review 74:Furniture was of higher quality than normal standard in Peru; with bath-tube
Review 75:The hotel itself, while conveniently located a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas, can also be loud late into the evening, especially if staying on one of the lower floors.
Review 76:The rooms are spacious, the wifi reliable (in the Reception area anyway), and the breakfast buffet, which is included in the room price, was by far the most comprehensive of those provided by any hotel during our stay in Peru.
Review 77:The rooms could use some updating
Review 78:The breakfast was the best on our 40 day trip. The hotel is a block off the plaza. The decor and layout is outstanding. You can see Titicaca from the 6th floor dining room. The spiral wooden stairs are beautifully dizzy...and the elevator worked. The price offered by Bookings was half the walk in price and made for an extreme deal.
Review 79:Lots of noise from the street, but there's not much they can do about this.
Review 80:Good-sized rooms and bathroom with a bath - what luxury! Nice breakfast too.
Review 81:Could use some new towels and shower curtain, but this did not affect our satisfaction with our stay. A little noisy from the street, but that's to be expected.
Review 82:The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location close to the plaza. Very clean room, HOT water! Space heater, but didn't need it.
Review 83:I didnt like the city, puno will make you hate peru and i recommend nobody to make a stop there. It s chaos there and as soon as you arrive the first thing you wanna do is leave.
Review 84:It is a very good hotel compared to the peruvian standards. But the noise is awful, most of the rooms have the view over the streets if not all, and you should be prepared not to sleep at all. There is traffic all night long and cars are very noisy. The last night we ve spent there was worst than ever and a lot of people complaigned about the noise.
Review 85:- disappointing room (small, ugly decoration) - sat-receiver was not set up (had to search for channels before it could be used) - very short beds - heavy blankets (3 of them) - there was a smell of gas in the room and in the corridor
Review 86:- english speaking reception - beautiful lobby and staircase - safe - really good breakfast buffet (wide selection) - good location
Review 87:The towels were just awful and need replacing. Our safe, bedroom lock did not work but the great staff sorted it and replace the whole lock on the door!
Review 88:The staff were extremely helpful and without them. The Hotel would be very average, the breakfast was excellent for us.
Review 89:There are downsides of this hotel, including parking some 5 blocks away and all uphill (at 3800 m!). The internet does not work except upstairs in the restaurant. The first night we stayed with a Bookings reservation for $40, but when we extended we were given a lesser room for $50.
Review 90:The staff members of this hotel are fantastic. They will do anything for you, including taking you back and forth to parking, directions, recommendations.
Review 91:Breakfast is very poor I would not call it breakfast, and is serve till only 9.am. " first time in my life around the world that I fund an Hotel that serve breakfast only till 9.00 am" usually breakfast is serve till 10/10:30 a bit to early a think for people how are in holiday. I do not think that in Puno is full up of people who have to get up early and need to have breakfast early because ave to go to work.
Review 92:Our bedroom was little and dark, in contrast with what they show in the pictures and it tooks a lot of time to get hot water in the bathroom.
Review 93:Location was excellent, just one block from the main square. We enjoy the delicious buffet breakfast with a beautiful view from the panoramic restaurant of the hotel. The bathroom was spacious and fully equipped.
Review 94:Centrally located budget hotel. Furnishings were a lil tired looking, breakfast was good, wifi was good. We paid US$40/night.. Based on that, we thought the hotel was excellent in value and facilities. We stayed room 205 which was right above the lobby hence possibly why the wifi was good.
Review 95:we booked a room fot two, but when we arrived they told us the booking was only for one and that they would charge US$30 a night but the room would b the same... the lady who served us when we check in was very rude and unhelpful. when my wife asked her a question (in spanish) she just looked at her and then ignored her. When we got to the room the door to the bathroom wouldn't shut without locking it. the plug in the bath had been unscrewed and left on the floor. we screwed it back but the bath still leaked. the shower rail wouldn't stay in its place and kept falling down. the shower only sprayed one jet of water and it was hard to control the temperature. the heater also didn't work which is annoying considering Puno is cold. I expected a lot better when I booked
Review 96:good central location, big room, nice breakfast
Review 97:The staff at this hotel are not very cordial or helpful. My initial introduction to this hotel was not a pleasant experience. They were confused about how to check us in because our booming.com price was different from their listing price and even though there was an obvious misunderstanding, they didn't handle it professionally. Check out was even worse. They again tried to make us pay more for the room and held us up. I finally had to tell them I was running late to catch my bus and it didn't matter at all. All 3 receptionists, same attitudes. I had read other reviews and hoped to have a better experience, but they were right. Located right in the center and all we heard was honking day & night.
Review 98:Not a problem but would like to have had someone who speaks a little English.
Review 99:Great hotel for very receivable price Very comfortable room Great breakfast and excellent restaurant for dinner. Right downtown. WIFI was great. Direct TV, lots of English speaking channels.
Review 100:Nothing
Review 101:Perfect location next to the main square, close to restaurants. Staff were very helpful. Room was very clean, with heater. Shower was hot and powerful.
Review 102:Front desk staff - limited English.
Review 103:Close to central Plaza, restaurants and cathedral. Great breakfast, lovely rooftop setting. Old style traditional hotel but very pleasant with some lovely features. Heater in the room!! Oxygen for guests if needed. Tours arranged.
Review 104:-The rooms are dusty, cold and noisy (heaters are available). - Beds are uncomfortable and they rarely change the bed sheets. -Breakfast is very basic but correct.
Review 105:- Well Located in the center, a minute walk from plaza de arma. - The rooms are big and there is hot water 24h. -They also have oxygene in case any traveler needs it.
Review 106:We didn't like ... - old room and furniture (pics were probably from newer rooms) - no English although a bigger hotel - poor wifi
Review 107:We liked ... - close to main plaza - good breakfast
Review 108:The first night, we were in a room close to the street, and it was very noisy. Good thing : we were able to change room for the 2nd night.
Review 109:The location is good : the hotel is very close to one of the main streets (restaurants, shops...) Breakfast buffet
Review 110:The reception staff were incredibly rude, not helpful, gave us incorrect information about the prices. There was no hot water, the bathroom light broke and the reception staff were very unhelpful. The breakfast was cold. The rooms were dated. The reception staff again claimed new prices when departing and took money out of my account without any permission or notice. When asked to speak to the manager he was unable to speak or help us that morning, causing further complications making us nearly loose our tour. The following day when arranged to meet with the manager he then claimed not to work on Sundays and would rather a bad review of his hotel. This is my first review of this nature but I was appalled by the service and attitude and would hate this to occur to any other future guests.
Review 111:The only positive of this hotel was the door man/porter who was the only polite and educated member of staff in this establishment.
Review 112:Lack of competent staff who argued and were deceptive at reception Prices from Booking.com were not accurate Lousy service in the dinner; overpriced for the quality Same menu every day for breakfast Room small and dark and needed painting; pictures deceptive; drainage poor;needs some work. No dead bolt or alarm clock Wifi very iffy Towels need to be replaced as they were frayed and rag like
Review 113:Hot water Friendly man that cleaned our room Cesano
Review 114:Helpful staff, very clean facilities
Review 115:Breakfast, Room Quality
Review 116:Internet access is not good
Review 117:One of the most cozy hotels I stayed. Great mattresses, cozy rooms, sunny terrace for the breakfast
Review 118:Great breakfast and prepared to help in case of altitude sickness..they even have oxigen to provide if needed.
Review 119:Hotel rooms are extremely cold, even an extra heater did not help much. No hot water in the bathroom.
Review 120:Staff and good food
Review 121:Quite a weak wifi connection in the hotel
Review 122:Very nice and helpful staff
Review 123:Much noise in the room
Review 124:Terrible service, unhelpful staff- Susan. No hot water
Review 125:Staff were excellent. We stsyed twice in a couple of weeks. Great breakfast!
Review 126:the breakfast start from 6:00. If you book some tour you may miss the breakfast.
Review 127:location near main square clean and comfortable beds
Review 128:Nice view from the breakfast place The breakfast itself
Review 129:Location was very nice, you could get everywhere by foot. It had a rich breakfast buffet and the view from the breakfast room was amazing.
Review 130:The worst recepcionist ever. Very bad service of the staff.
Review 131:Good location
Review 132:Can hear the traffic in the street and the contestant beeping of horns which goes through the night
Review 133:Good location and decent hotel for the price
