Reviews for Hotel Mary
Review 1:There wasn't anything to dislike.
Review 2:Staff were excellent, breakfast was pretty good for continental type. Room was cleaned with new linen and towels etc each day. Staff provided good info on public transport and their English was exceptional.
Review 3:Walls very thin so noise travelled easily. When some guests left early and made a noise, it was disturbing. Occasionally we didn't have enough toiletries e.g. shower gel.
Review 4:The location was wonderful, with fantastic sea views. Very convenient for town and train. Food was really good and staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 5:Wifi should be free in today's world but not so at the Hotel Mary".........you need to rethink your WiFi policy
Review 6:Everything apart from the WiFi policy
Review 7:We walked to the beach on one occation, not far to walk but steep stairs. W e also walked to the harbour one evening, then we saw a minbus from the hotel, nobody informed us that we could use it ! Somewhat boring breakfast.
Review 8:Great location, nice room and amazing view! They park your car , and get it for you when you need it .
Review 9:Wi-fi terrible. 4 star hotel and have to pay for wi-fi? Couldn't connect more than 1 device at a time! This is 2015!
Review 10:Location was excellent. Not a 4 star hotel due to rooms
Review 11:You can hear your neighbors every word. If you get a room next to an elevator, ask immediately for another one if you want to sleep past 7:30. Breakfast rather bland, compared to another four star hotels we've stayed in.
Review 12:Beautiful view and terrace, very nice staff, private beach, rooms are clean, AC works.
Review 13:Majority of the staff were very friendly. The view from the room was stunning. The room was nice and big, a huge balcony and a private beach( although you have to go down 240 steps to get to it)
Review 14:Check your bill! I was charged an additional €10 from the restaurant for my meal. If I hadn't have checked it would have been overlooked. Unfortunately this happens quite often on my work trips to Naples and the coast. Disappointing that people always try to rip you off!
Review 15:Great location and the shuttle service makes getting around from the train station and down to the beach really easy. Great views to the sea and friendly staff.
Review 16:Poor access to the beach down below the hotel and no hotel assistance in reaching the seaside. Rooms could be nicer although are clean and comfortable.
Review 17:Astonishing view from the hotel terrace and room balcony. Nice breakfest and helpfull staff.
Review 18:Only one device per room can be connected with wifi. And it is not easy to change to another device.
Review 19:Sea view breakfast. We had two dinner in hotel, it is good to have this possibility. shuttle service to train station or beach is good. Free parking.swimming pool outside our room.
Review 20:The pool shut too early
Review 21:the hotel was very clean and well maintained with beautiful views in most rooms. It was well placed to explore the surrounding area. The restaurant had great food and the staff were welcoming.
Review 22:The bed was too hard for us. The pool closes already at six o'clock in the evening, which is early compared to other places we've stayed, but seems to be normal in Southern Italy.
Review 23:The view from our SeaView Room and balcony as well as from the restaurant balcony is excellent. The staff are all extremely helpfull.
Review 24:You pay for the Internet where only one person in the room can use it ...the other person has to wait....not sense for how much it cost, plus is slow.
Review 25:Close to the beach and town
Review 26:Everything was perfect! The view from our balcony was amazing, and the staff were all so kind and helpful. Loved the food, loved the pool and beach areas, loved the location. We had the best time and we'd definitely stay here again! Thank you!
Review 27:Wifi could be a bit flaky had to keep logging back in. Minor point.
Review 28:Staff are superb and really make this hotel a great hotel. Everywhere is very clean and tidy. The pool is great. The resturant is excellent and sunsets everynight :)
Review 29:Shower cubicle on the small side - but as the hotel dates from around the 1960s they have done the best they can without ripping the plumbing system out and starting again. That said it was no big deal and we would happily stay there again and for a longer period.
Review 30:Fab sea view from room, friendly and very helpful staff. Lift from / to station provided. Easy access to town centre. Excellent value for money and well worth thinking about as a base for visiting Pompei, Sorrento and Capri etc. Ferry from local harbour to Sorrento and Capri.
Review 31:Breakfast was disappointing: coffee not great and lack of home made element in food.
Review 32:Comfortable accommodation, very helpful, friendly staff, great views over Bay while outside dining.Evening meals offered good choice.
Review 33:Wifi wasn't great and the walls were pretty thin, if you get a loud talking neighbour you will hear every word.
Review 34:The view was amazing. Every room has a sea view which is just beautiful. The restaurant balcony provided a stunning background for lovely dinners and breakfast in the morning.
Review 35:we had car and thought it would be quiet easy to reach to Sorrento center (piazza tasso); however, hotel is not too close to center and takes 15 mins to drive to centre. if you want to have fun and drink until day light so you should better prefer any hotel around piazzo tasso, the center; because there are many many tavernas in the back street of piazza and also very lovely and cozzy fish restaurants in the marina grande that you would love to finish the whole bottle of wine they bring to your table :)
Review 36:view from sea-view room and breakfast area is so romantic and lovely; our room was clean and comfortable. staff is very helpful and kind; there is complimentary parking but no self park garage so they bring your car in front of the hotel enterance within 5 minutes after you requested. breakfast was not awesome but was good enough to enjoy the view have some food before you start your day :)
Review 37:There was dust all around the baseboard of the room! It is so 20th century to have to pay for wifi password! Breakfast is so-so! The walls are not that sound proof.
Review 38:The staff were pleasant. They readily provide information about the surrounding towns and parking garages. They provide great service in parking the car and bringing it to you. Vico Esquense town is quite close with some great restaurants.
Review 39:There was absolutely nothing to dislike
Review 40:My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mary. The staff were amazing, so helpful. We found we could take a trip to Capri from here, excellent news as we had planned to take the train into Sorrento and take ferry from there. As it was a staff member organised a transfer (very cheap at that) to the wharf below the hotel and collected us at the end of the day, so much less hassle. Room was spotless and there was plenty of variety at the breakfast buffet. But what stood out most about Hotel Mary was the attentive, helpful and thoroughly pleasant staff. Oh and the view from our room which was stunning. We would loved to have stayed longer!
Review 41:breakfast was not good in relation to the quality of the hotel, every morning the same, no ball playing allowed in the pool
Review 42:friendly and helpful staff at the reception, dinner was good.
Review 43:The only iss we had was not with the Hotel but with the address for it - our very new Sat Nav got very confused with the address shown by the website and we were lost for about 90 minutes.
Review 44:The room was spacious and very clean. The staff could not have been more helpful. The breakfast and dinner were fanstatic. We wish we had spend more time at the Hotel Mary
Review 45:Nothing
Review 46:The staff were on hand at all times giving individual attention to your needs. Very professionally run Hotel. The restaurant menu and the food served was excellent and would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Review 47:The pool is ice cold okay for me not for my partner. Shuttle to the beach nice to sit for a drink at the little cafe but the beach itself is all stones
Review 48:Down stairs room so you can walk straight out to the pool. Good standard breakfast resonable price dinner good shower helpful staff.
Review 49:Location, good for the Circumvesuviana railway which is great for Pompei, Sorrento and Naples. It is a smaller town, not full of tourists but lots of restaurants, bars and great views
Review 50:Walk to the centre of Vico Equence was on narrow pavement next to a busy road.
Review 51:Very friendly and helpful staff. Magnificient view to the bay with in the distance the island Capri.
Review 52:- noise from the road (despite that the hotel is doing its best – double isolated windows) - early closing of the pool (it closes at 6 pm when the conditions were the most suitable for swimming)
Review 53:+ rooms were very clean + staff was very polite, helpful, and friendly + private beach
Review 54:Useless hairdrier & no drawer space in room. Not keen on local town- Vico Equense - 10 minutes walk which I knew when booking & wouldbe fine. But the town itself was rather 'nothing-ness' - lack ofstreet restaurants/bars, shops etc - quite boring really so feltrestricted to hotel.
Review 55:Staff extremely obliging - much to their surprise we refused valetparking (due to being in vintage classic car and not wanting it shuntedback & forth with no tlc) we were then allocated the coveredwoodshed, which was perfect - turned out to be the owner's privateparking space!! All hotel facilities superb. We ate evening meals here 4out of our 5 nights plus breakfast each morning, food excellent &restaurant staff very attentive. Lovely views from restaurant terrace& rooms, pool pleasant & great to have option of free sunloungers/parasols on beach. Paid 5 euro total for whole duration ofstay for wifi - easy to connect & thought this set-up good idea.
Review 56:You have to go down 236 stairs to bathe in the warm waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea ... The breakfast always the same ... the same fruit ... eggs always cooked the same ... sweet ....
Review 57:Vico Equense is a fantastic city for its beauty and tranquility. The hotel is well located and within 10 minutes from the train station and 3 minutes from the city center. It is the ideal place to stay and from there visit the entire coast of Sorrento and Amalfi coast and the cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii, as well as the island of Capri. The train line Circumvesuviana is quick and inexpensive and at the end of the day walking back to Vico Equense relaxing.
Review 58:rooms overlooking main road cannot be used due to noise; pool has a schedule as from 9 to 18, been there at 09:15 and they were about to consider starting cleaning the pool... !
Review 59:position - unique !, a good quality hotel
Review 60:The beach is small and stony, the water is precious however. It takes quite an effort to get there, however the hotel provides transportation if you dont want to walk the steep stairs.
Review 61:The hotel itself is very nice. Close to Sorrento but the town is quiet. Vico Ecuense hosts one of Italia´s best gelaterías (Gabriele)
Review 62:Not used to these kind of beaches. Very rocky and black sand ( volcanic sand). Lots of garbage on the walk in to the beach.
Review 63:Marco at the front desk was so welcoming and offered many great suggestions. Food was always fresh and tasty. Waiters at the restaurant (Mario and Giovanni) we're so funny and efficient. Rooms very clean and slowly being updated room by room. Pool area clean but getting dated. Shuttle service very good
Review 64:The beds were a bit hard, otherwise everything else was perfect!!
Review 65:Beautiful water views from bedroom balcony and on the terrace where we had breakfast and dinner. Good food and staff very friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to help you. In easy walking distance to Vico Equense train station. Pompeii and Sorrento only 20 minutes on train. Beautiful part of the Sorrento coast. Thank you Hotel Mary for a wonderful stay, would definitely come back!
Review 66:We had no negative comments about Hotel Mary.
Review 67:We got a wonderful welcome from the staff who parked our car in their private lot at no extra cost. We had a double and a single room with sea views and balcony for five nights. Rooms were very clean and comforatable with a small refrigerator. All the staff were excellent and we enjoyed the extensive buffet breakfast and also had two dinners at their restaurants. The food was reasonably priced and very good. The views we had from the balcony and restaurant were a real plus expecially at night. We also enjoyed three dinners at a local restaurant called Al Buco with great prices and food with many locals; just a short walk in town from the hotel. A must stop is at Galateria Gabriele near the square for great ice cream and desserts.
Review 68:Only slight downside to older hotels are they aren't overly sound proof. Could hear the next rooms TV and them talking at one point. But, ear plugs or an iPod fix it if you're a light sleeper. I'd still stay there again!
Review 69:Beautiful location, fantastic view, not too far from the train station. Located in a nice little town. Pool and sun beds were nice to relax. Good breakfast, selection of cold meats, breads, jams, pastries, cakes, cereal, tea coffee etc etc! Staff were all really friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice and clean.
Review 70:Breakfast could be little bit better.
Review 71:Very nice wiew from a balcony, but only if you take a room with sea wiew. Other side is road next to your room! Stuff was very nice and helpful and spoke english. Small village is a perfect Place if you like peaceful place to stay. Good connections to everywhere.
Review 72:I missed the omelette from the breakfast, otherwise it was all good :)
Review 73:We had a room with sea view on the 2. floor and it was just perfect, the view was breathtaking beautiful. You also have the same view from the hotel restaurant at breakfast and dinner. The hotel has a very good location. The private beach was also great, not so crowded like other beaches nearby. You can go to the beach either by taking the 230 steps or ask for the shuttle service. We were taking the steps and it took 10 minutes to the beach. The staff is very polite, helpful and friendly. The room was very clean. Vico Equense is such a nice little town and you can reach Napoli, Pompei and Sorrento easily by train - the train station is 10 minutes walk from the hotel.
Review 74:It doesn't with free wifi even in the lobby.
Review 75:food is really nice!! please have dinner there!!
Review 76:Great spot walkable to beach and top views for dinner and breakfast
Review 77:The staff are very well trained and very friendly and helpful.
Review 78:Parking needs valet as the hotel is up the mountain.
Review 79:The breakfast here is standard
Review 80:Hotel staff
Review 81:Distance to beach
Review 82:The staff were incredible !!
Review 83:Very friendly staff and lovely views from restaurant. Good location to explore the Amalfi coast.
Review 84:Hotel listed as 'halal' but this is only for cheese and tomato on the pizza. None of the meats are halal.
Review 85:No in room kettle, poor laundry service
Review 86:Views from balcony and restaurant
Review 87:We did not have any problems.
Review 88:All the staff were extremely kind and helpful. We felt at home from the first moment we walked in.
Review 89:The Internet could have been better
Review 90:The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean .The pool and sun loungers were great
Review 91:Had to pay for WiFi and the beds/pillows not comfortable
Review 92:Location
Review 93:Swimming pool was not available from 6 pm...in summer! WIFI service was not included for free.
Review 94:Excellent service. Beautiful sea view.
Review 95:The beds were not great, and the rooms were poorly sound insulated.
Review 96:The staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 97:Staff very friendly, polite, helpfull and always service with a smile. Never fail to make you feel comfortable.
Review 98:L'hotel era vecchio
Review 99:Localita' con vista meravigliosa dalla sala da pranzo
Review 100:There wasn't anything not to like.
Review 101:We liked everything about the hotel.
Review 102:not homely - clearly had been good but not kept up with the times
Review 103:price and space
Review 104:Friendly staff. Good typical Italian breakfast. Hotel easy to find, convenient and in walking distance to many restaurants.
Review 105:Breakfast was good but not great
Review 106:Service
Review 107:friendlyness of the staff very helpfull well run hotel
Review 108:cold water in swimmingpool and jacuzy
Review 109:Fantastic views of the bay and mountains from the restaurant and pool. We had very long breakfasts.
Review 110:Lovely hotel with very nice and friendly staff. The room was nice and comfortable with great balcony with a sea view.
Review 111:Very helpful , courteous , friendly, and always available staff. Ready to accommodate your needs. Food was excellent at the hotel!
Review 112:Rooms were average. Nothing special. Had to pay for internet and it never worked from our room, which made it difficult to plan next stage of our trip.Too many students arriving on weekend.
Review 113:Staff was very accommodating and professional. Shuttles to and from the beach and the train station were timely.
Review 114:Nice atmosphere, cleanliness, ambience, friendliness of staff, cleanliness of pool. An excellent location to explore the Sorrentine Peninsula, Amalfi coast, Capri, Naples and Pompeii. Also we really enjoyed Vico Equense – a lovely town.
Review 115:Being asked every morning if we were going to be eating dinner that evening. On holiday it's nice not to have to make that decision so far in advance.
Review 116:Wonderful welcome by Castello, couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Really helpful staff.
Review 117:One internet device at a time, but we survived.
Review 118:A lovely view that was enjoyed from breakfast each morning. The beach was an added bonus that gave us a great pleasure.
Review 119:The main problem with the hotel is noise. You can hear every door beingopened or closed, and anyone talking in the corridor. Our room was onthe top floor, right next to the elevators. We could hear the elevatormotor every time it was operated - which was terrible. We did not ask tochange to another room, as we had completely unpacked when we noticedthat. The management has to add a significant amount of sound isolation.
Review 120:We chose to stay in Vico Equense since it is conveniently located in anarea close to the Amalfi coast and Pompei, but is not full of touristsitself. And chose hotel Mary because of the sea view and free parking. Both choices proved to be good. Our room (no. 411) had a balcony withvery nice sea and mountain views. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has a private parking lot, and the staff provide you withvalet parking. This was very convenient. The hotel has a nice restaurant and pizzeria, where we dined two nights out of the five we stayed there. We tried two more restaurants in town (Terramia and Titos, both were fine). Breakfast was also OK, but the variety was not great. The restaurant staff were very friendly, especially Mario and Antonio. Thanks guys, for the great service. The room itself and the shower were clean. Shower pressure and water temperature were excellent. Overall a very nice place.
Review 121:Could be a bit noisy, walls seemed a bit thin.
Review 122:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was very good. The rooms were very clean.
Review 123:Hotel booked a school of teenagers that were mostly unsupervised. Very noisy and disruptive both early in the morning and late at night.
Review 124:Staff went out of their way to assist us. Very friendly and helpful,
Review 125:Hallway is really noisy in the morning. The breakfast could be a bit more various: with different kind of cheese, hot meal (scrambled egg, sausage, ham and eggs).
Review 126:Staff is very friendly, polite and helpful. They could answer all our questions and help us in everything. View from the room and restaurant balcony is as scenic and romantic in reality as in the photos. Clean and spacious bathroom. Good location: close to main tourist attractions (Neaples, Pompei, Sorrento, Capri), but no so busy and close to nature.
Review 127:Pool was a bit dirty one of the days with dead insects and small debris floating in it. Also, the corridors outside the rooms are very noisy early in the mornings and the Doors bang very loudly.
Review 128:Lovely airy rooms, big bathroom, lovely balcony with a view of the Gulf of Napoli. Breakfast is very good, lots of fresh breads and meats and fruits. The sun bathing area and the pool is also lovely but could be cleaned a lot more. The staff, in particular, Catello, could not do enough for us and drove us to the Train station for free on our departure. Really liked this hotel and excellent value for money.
Review 129:The restaurant is a large room without ambience. The location feels a bit isolated, though it is only a short walk to town.
Review 130:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was large, with a double and two single beds...for just two of us. Pretty sea views from our balcony and also the dinning room. The restaurant dinner was very good. the room and dinner were both very good value.
Review 131:The steps on staire to go to the beach.
Review 132:Helpful , friendly staff. All of them talking English. The hotel and the room were clean . Our room had a wonderful view. Vico Equense is a lovely town.
Review 133:The closing-time of the swimming-pool at 6:00 p.m. is too early. 8:00 p.m. would be reasonable.
Review 134:very clean, breakfast buffet is large, the staff is very friendly
The Fine Print
