Reviews for Atlantis Backpackers
Review 1:Nothing :)
Review 2:One of the best backpack I had. - comfy bed with curtain in big room - clean shower and toilet - 500 Mo free wifi - well equipped kitchen - cool living room with pool, piano and lots of books! - adorable staff - free breakfast and free dessert! - very well located from the bus station and the ferry! Definitely !
Review 3:There are at least 4 cats in the hostel and they go EVERYWHERE. From the kitchen and toilets through the bedrooms and front door. Also seems like the rooms don't have a good cleaning since 1980's. Old mattresses, old linen and everything stinks like mold. Definitely a bad idea if you are allergic to anything. Also... None of the rooms have any kind of key. The doors stay open to anyone who wants to get in. And it's common to see couples in single beds from dorms without any regulation from the staff.
Review 4:Good location and very friendly staff. Having tea and coffee available all day along with toasts for breakfast and desert at night was very good. Toilets and bathrooms are quite clean. Good number of books around if you want to grab something to read.
Review 5:We stayed in an awesome retro but tidy 2 bed cottage. The hospitality was amazing, The owner went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. We will definitely stay again. So close to everything. It was great.
Review 6:Kitchen, laundry, common room, hospitality, quiet bedroom. Lots to love about this place. If you have a chance, chat with the owners. I had the pleasure of meeting Sheira and had a great conversation about their 5 year voyage to New Zealand from Virginia. The other travelers were cool to hang out with and share a drink with. I was only there for a night, but wish I had time to stay longer!
Review 7:Atlantis backpackers is a friendly, vibrant, bustling gem of a place. I loved the books, the murals and the quiet little nooks hidden away in this colourful labyrinth. Very warm and friendly staff and a lovely cat.
Review 8:Bathrooms
Review 9:The owner is so friendly and lovely that she can really turn your mood. She's very proud of her eatablishment, and not without reason. The paintings on the walls set the vibe (hippie-ish), and the hostel feels homey and comfortable. There's plenty of common spaces, and the owner does her best to help us out. You can tell that by the kitchen appliances (the kitchen is small, but there's nothing missing!), and the fact that you can have breakfast, and other little things such as free extra blankets.. I had a great staying and met amazing people at the Atlantis.
Review 10:The whole place felt dark and dinghy and it could do with a good clean. A cat was sleeping in our room when we checked in; I love cats but they shouldn't have access to guest rooms - the place was covered with cat hair. The room also stank of BO, although the sheets were freshly cleaned at least. The toilet and shower area also felt very small for the size of hostel.
Review 11:It's a central location with private parking available. We didn't make use of the cooking or leisure facilities but they looked good.
Review 12:Pet hair all over the furniture in the room, other guests being up quite late and being a bit noisy. had to wait 20 minutes to check out in the morning and nearly missed the ferry.
Review 13:Friendly staff, good location close to ferry and town. relatively cheap
Review 14:Would have preferred single sex bathrooms rather than mixed.
Review 15:Free tea, coffee, milk and lovely cake in the evening. Nice big kitchen and living room areas. Heating in the bedrooms. Great location for the ferry terminal.
Review 16:The hostel is located just 2 minutes walk from the Interislander ferry terminal. The staff is friendly and helpful, simple breakfast included. And there are cats living in a hostel with guests :)
Review 17:Its good for backpackers because its excellebt value for money but a bit noisey so not as good for young couples.
Review 18:It was clean, well equipped and friendly with an excellent location.
Review 19:Cold room and a long way to the toilets and showers from a double room. No breakfast for early start.
Review 20:Lounge with friendly Cats. Quirky, interesting memorabilia. Free DESSERT
Review 21:my room was a bit cold and the wifi sometimes dropped out.
Review 22:great location, right next to ferry terminal. Free breakfast was decent. Free desserts were OK. Milk available for tea and coffee was a blessing! Wifi generally worked. Staff were super friendly. There was a piano available and a lovely fire to dry shoes. I really enjoyed my stay!
Review 23:cats are loitering within the hotel. and might have slept on your bed b4 you, as all doors for unoccupied rooms are not closed. for non-backpacker you might find it a bit unclean. no heater in the room.
Review 24:Convenient Location. less than 5 mins walk to railway station and harbour. friendly staff. although i'd to wait for quite some times during check-in as I can't locate the staff thru the intercom. fully equipped kitchen. free dessert every evening. free breakfast every morning. very spacious common area compare to other backpackers I stayed. I quite enjoy the night there associate with people from other countries.
Review 25:Very concerned at a stranger walking into our apartment at 6.45am (we had the door locked) and when we advised reception they could not explain the reason for this nor was there any apology. We did not like the fact that the apartment was full of flies and no fly spray was supplied. Although we were told breakfast was available at 8am when we went for breakfast there was nothing available at 8am?
Review 26:The fact that it was situated in the centre of town.
Review 27:Bathroom were a wash in water and rubbish bins full. Not overly inspiring to use so didn't
Review 28:Quick and easy to find. Room was clean and tidy so easy to fall into bed and recover from a horrible trip on the ferry.
Review 29:The laundry service was out of use (though launderette 100m away) Got a parking ticket when I left my car outside (had assumed it was allocated parking for the hostel - bummer!)
Review 30:Comfy room and welcoming staff. Good location for town and ferry. Friendly atmosphere.
Review 31:A towel would have been nice
Review 32:The owners were really friendly and the evening cake was a lovely bonus The bunks were fitted with curtains..really great for privacy and for cutting out the lght
Review 33:Noise travels from other rooms.
Review 34:Hospitable, homely atmosphere, - caring, friendly staff and the unexpected bonus of delicious free breakfast and supper..
Review 35:The layout of the hostel is odd as you have to go through the lounge and kitchen to access communal bathrooms. Also found it noisy.
Review 36:Location was great - 5min walk from the ferry and close to cafes and restaurants.
Review 37:The lady running the backpackers was just a delight and couldn't do enough. Nice and handy to the Inter-Islander. Everything supplied, warm, clean and very comfortable.
Review 38:The showers and toilets aren't sufficient and ain't clean. No windows to the outside and all rooms share the same open space so not quiet at night.
Review 39:Location. Nice decorations. surprising experience in a positive manner.
Review 40:It was overall great, would recommend if you just need a place to sleep and eat. Facilities overall seemed really rundown/old, but more or less clean.
Review 41:Very friendly owner with positive attitude and enthusiastic to give advice on things to do in the area or how to get to other places.
Review 42:nothing
Review 43:A place that is not just somewhere to stay. This place is really a nz gem and should be on everyone's must stay at least once list. Owner was extremely welcoming and the walls seem to all tell a story. Very impressive!!
Review 44:Location close to Picton's main street and only 5 minutes walk from the interisland ferry terminal Blue Bridge shuttle bus drop off long distance train and bus stops. the Domain museum and main street virtually all on the doorstep Welcoming and friendly host. Quirky decoration with nautical and Greek mythology themes.
Review 45:Cat sleeping on one of the beds, I'm allergic to cats and didn't realise there would be a cat! More flies in the kitchen than there were travellers in the building! Not very clean.
Review 46:Location was excellent, staff very helpful and happy. Free breakfast was handy to have
Review 47:Cats on premises. Too many people for the one shared bathroom. Flies in kitchen. Spoiled food in communal fridges.
Review 48:Lots of young people and energy here. Owner was wonderful. Close to CBD and ferry to North Island.
Review 49:No bad experiences but place needs a facelift deserves to be done up ! Too many flies in kitchen area Must be hard to keep cleaning this place.
Review 50:Location is great near the boat lovely walks and good local food. Only staying one night but it was all very relaxed.
Review 51:Staff friendliest we've encountered, helped us choose a walk to do and brilliant location 2 minutes from port. Double room perfect for our short stay.
Review 52:The backpackers was loud and woke us up at 2 am, the breakfast that was included with our rate was picked over 30 minutes after it was available. The apartment could use a refresher but it was a clean and fit our needs for a short stop in Picton.
Review 53:The location and staff were great. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment next to the backpackers. It was clean but outdated.
Review 54:Noisy! People talking loudly in the kitchen late at night.
Review 55:Colourful - literally and metaphoricaly. Lovely friendly host, Sheara. Homely atmosphere. Another guest playing awesome classical piano.
Review 56:you can't take the place with you when you leave...
Review 57:just a great woman - the owner, friendly uncomplicated staff, location perfect near ferry and park and playground and town centre, easy to find. the suite is a secluded two bedroom + kitchen + bathroom + living room apartment with parking
Review 58:Smelled badly of cat urine. Hopefully they can get this sorted out. As it is so close to the ferry, there is a lot of overnight noise. We had to have all the windows open because of the smell, so could not shut out the noise. Interesting decor.
Review 59:Unit was spacious and had off street parking.
Review 60:Very uncomfortable bed. Showers were quite dirty...needed a decentclean/scrub Toilet/Shower facilities are unisex. Inititally nota very good explanation of facilities and how to find our way around theplace. No outside seating area (well not that we could find.. The placeis a bit of a maze) very thin walls, could hear everything going on inthe room next to us.
Review 61:Friendly owner who gave great travelling advice. Central location wasvery good. Decor was very warm..lots of original art and murals on thewall. Lots of books and games etc in the lounge room.
Review 62:It was super noisy Stains on the bed, dust everywhere, fan had never been cleaned. The room was tiny at least half the size that it was advertised for. Smelt weird. Very unpleasant stay, noise restrictions were not enforced so had to endure other noisy inconsiderate guests into the early hours of the morning. There are these windows above the door so light steaming in from the hallway comes into your room, then the light from the skylight comes in early in the morning, so got very little sleep.
Review 63:Nothing
Review 64:only 3 unisex toilets, 2 wash basins make toilet room crowded with people in the morning and night.
Review 65:good hospitality, free breakfast, 1GB of wifi free, clean facility, very close to ferry terminal, has curtain for each bulk bed.
Review 66:Staff very friendly, welcoming and accommodating to our late arrival by ferry. Accommodation was significantly above our expectations. We were impressed by the attention to detail and little extras provided. We had privacy, comfort, our own parking and spacious facilities.
Review 67:Room was right next to kitchen, so the sounds of slamming drawers, clanking dishes, etc. sounded loud. Took an Ambien and all was ok.
