Reviews for The Ritz Tourist Home
Review 1:The room was not ready when we arrived. We booked a room for 3 adults but got a room with a small child´s bed. When the room was ready they forgot a lot of element, like towels and when I asked for them they were not ready I had to wait till the end of the day. Poor wifi.
Review 2:We were close to the caves
Review 3:The owner could not speak English well enough and was not able to find the key to our room. He suggested we leave our things there while he is watching them. Of caurse we could not agree to that.
Review 4:The place located near to the caves but 2 km from the city center Dambulla. Not easy to find. Despite of the friendly owner I would not recomend this place. Firstly we booked non AC room but it was really humid and ugly. That's why we decided to change it to guite dry and cleaner AC room. However, the only towel that we got had stains and sing was leacking. Bed sheets quite ok. I would definitely not recommend non AC rooms, pick the AC ones if you want to stay there.
Review 5:For such a price, know what to expect; no bins in the rooms, no TP, no hot water in all the rooms. The place is pretty small, the garden is mostly dried up and not much to look at, it seems like the place is under construction as I spotted chunks of pipes, steel rebars, engine oil canisters, all spread out around the garden.
Review 6:The staff there was very kind, helped us around town a bit.
Review 7:The location was fine, not as close to the city centre as we thought but still it was good, within walking distance to the city and very close to the temple. The rooms were comfortable and clean. I would only recommend to have a room with AC as Dambulla was very hot in June. We enjoyed hanging out in the patio and having a chat with hosts that took very good care of us. Rohan, the hotel manager, was very helpful and nice. Thank you for a lovely stay and your hospitality!
Review 8:- bad coordinates! The hotel is not next to the dambulla cave temples, but about 600m further - the right coordinates are N 7° 51' 31,7'' E 80° 39' 32,1'' - far from restaurants/shops (but we didn't really need anything) - wifi didn't work the first day, the second day it was OK (maybe because all other guests left and we were there alone:-) )
Review 9:+ nice place (calm surroundings, all rooms are situated around a small, nice garden) + kind staff speaking good english + hot water + you can order a dinner here (2 hours before the dinner, wasn't bad), tea and possibly other things
Review 10:We had a short stay at the ritz but an enjoyable one. The staff were friendly and helpful and cooked us some really good food. The rooms had Wi-Fi & hot water and were comfortable for a short stay. Ideal location for visiting the cave temples & sigiriya is only a short bus ride away
Review 11:Rooms/bathrooms were SO horribly hot, couldn't feel any breeze from ceiling fan on full speed through mosquito net (which had multiple holes in). Bed was REALLY uncomfortable and the pillow felt like it was full of ROCKS - we had to use our own clothes rolled into a ball instead. You need new pillows!!! Loads of mozzies and spiders. Staff were using empty rooms as a place for local young couples to go in to have s*x.. made us feel very uncomfortable.
Review 12:Staff were nice, they brought me a fan as I was ill when staying there wit an upset stomach (although didn't speak much english)
Review 13:Mould on the walls but unfortunately it's common thing in Sri Lanka. Only cold water
Review 14:Very friendly staff large room nice bathroom terrace for your own usage close to the temples and bus stop
Review 15:The location of the hotel is little bit more far from the intersection then it's showed on a map.
Review 16:Friendly and very helpful staff. Hotel worker was very kind to recommend me the best time to go to sigiria and explained me how to find bus station. Very good bathroom with hot shower!!
Review 17:Very bad approach road...no place for parking...no reception counter...No assitance from staff or Manager....Zero professionalisum and no brakfast facility.... Please do not recommend this hotel
Review 18:Nothing to like here in this hotel...Is this hotel at the first place?
Review 19:Much further from city center and bus station than described on the website. First we tried to find it on our own, but the distance was much longer than expected from the hotel advertisement, and we had to take a tuk tuk drive. We need to add that we walked about 1,5 km and it took the tuk tuk driver another 2 km. Lots and lots of mosquitos. No toiletries. Too hot and humid in the room, despite the fan.
Review 20:Peaceful and quiet, friendly and helpful staff, nice garden.
Review 21:The room was very dirty, with bedbugs on the bed. WiFi wasn't working and the staff was quite rude. The breakfast also was terrible, we had stomach infection after a couple of days.
Review 22:It's quite close to the cave temples
Review 23:Location is a bit far from main town area but a tuk tuk journey only cost 100 rupee.
Review 24:Excellent wifi. Owner was super friendly and helpful , he took me to the reservoir and garden centre near by which were not mentioned in my travel book.
Review 25:There was problem with tripping water, but staff solved it soon.
Review 26:We had small room with clean bathroom. Very nice breakfast.
Review 27:a little remote, can hardly reach there first time without tuktuk
Review 28:Beautiful balcony and a vast garden, and I can see the sky full of stars at night!
Review 29:It is cheap
Review 30:mosquito a lot
Review 31:price
Review 32:Cleanliness, staff, big rooms, peaceful
Review 33:Great value for money Offered upgrade to room with air con on arrival Offered refreshements Close to Dambulla Cave temples - less 10 mins walk
Review 34:Not to clean.
Review 35:Nice staff trying their best.
Review 36:Very clean, casual pleasant surroundings
Review 37:Farr from the city center.
Review 38:Near to the Holden Tempel. Very helpful staff.
Review 39:Very hot at night and no airconditioning.
Review 40:Quiet place
Review 41:Bur still very poor. Wrong description of locality as they advertise. Friends of manager were constantly disturbing as!(as they were tuktuk drivers)
Review 42:Staff did the best what they could.
Review 43:It was difficult to find and twice farther than advertised. We walked in at 4pm the room was not ready. They started cleaning the room, but with a dirty floor brush, and left mud, dog and human hair all over the place especially in the corners. Sheets were muddy, since they whole yard is muddy and there is construction going on. I asked to change sheets and they gave us clean ones, but towels we got were dirty and smelly. Bathroom has never been cleaned in months. They let the dog out at night, who ate my shoe and dragged in the dirt, in the morning the owner placed my shoe next to our room and pretended that nothing ever happened. The room was small and crowed with useless furniture. We have been traveling for a year and I would rate this a the worst hotel yet!
Review 44:In the evening, it was quite noisy which was uncomfortable, but it's possible that we were unlucky and it was a one-off situation.
Review 45:The owner was very friendly, and the room a new and charming.
Review 46:All is good, great for up to two days to rest in negombo.
Review 47:The owner couple are very nice and we had a nice discussion. they gave me very good ideas for transport by bus to kurugale and continue to kandy or dambulla. seaside was great avoid swimming far due to strong currents.
Review 48:Unfortunately, we had to mark this place down as there was ongoing construction work at the time we stayed here (early May). It was noisy and inconvenient. I would suggest people bear this in mind when booking, and maybe contact the owner to find out if construction will be ongoing during your stay.
Review 49:Staff were extremely helpful and kind. Nice, comfortable room with mosquito nets. Clean ensuite with hot showers. Great location, only 5-10 min walk to entrance of Cave Temple, and short Tuk-Tuk to bus station.
Review 50:Hotel under construction, not finished, probably next year will be better! In spite of fan, room too hot
Review 51:Friendship of the owner and workers Quiet and nice place (in future) Close to the site
Review 52:The building wasn't finished yet and the room was a bit poor. Some workers always looking at our room.
Review 53:The helpful and polite staff, the location near the cave temple, the lovely baby frog who slept with us and didn't want to go out... It was the only guesthouse in all Sri Lanka that gave us the bill and cleaned our room. Close on the left, there's a very good restaurant wich is also a hotel..maybe the best dinner in Sri Lanka. Thank you once again, Shant! Overall Dambulla and the road to Ritigala was amazing..
Review 54:Nothing but I suppose if you want to be close to town it is a few minutes out - not a problem for us because it is more peaceful. They do not have food facilities but can recommend close by place which had a lovely meal and cheap.
Review 55:The staff were really friendly and very helpful. The rooms were comfortable and the patio area was nicely set up. It was close to the cave temple and the staff gave excellent tourist advice for travelling to other places. They also gave us cups of tea in the morning which was appreciated. Excellent value.
Review 56:No restuarent, you can buy tgings from nearby bakery. Litlle outside city.
Review 57:The hotel was under expantion. We got new rooms. It's 500mts fromgolden temple. Owner arranged tuk tuk to busstand and sigiria for 10-25%lessthan market price.
