Reviews for Beachcomber Inn Picton
Review 1:Maybe a footpath along the grass to an unlocked enterance to reception from the side carpark would be good
Review 2:Overall it was really very nice so I likes it all & I would come back again
Review 3:Well appointed room which was set near the back of the hotel. It was quiet and had awesome views. The motel was also well situated for a run/walk through bush alongside the bay.
Review 4:When sitting on the balcony there is no privacy. The restaurant and other patrons were all overlooking us which wasn't the best
Review 5:Right in Picton township so easy to walk around everywhere. Nicely redecorated room we stayed in with a bit of luxury and a lovely view over the harbour
Review 6:Marvelous views from our room, it is WOW! Perfect location, 2 mins walk to the center and water front. Restaurant is great, too. Highly recommended to anyone go to Picton!
Review 7:we were there on a thursday and the restaurant was closed for dinner and breakfast the next day so the chef could have a day off, i just found this quite unprofessional
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:Outstanding fitout, sheer comfort and convenience. Loved it from the minute we walked in. The room had perfectly thought-out drawers equipped with kitchenware; everything had been considered. Excellent service from Toni at reception. Great trampoline almost in the harbour! Great access to the waterfront. Our Only regret? We wish we'd stayed more than one night.
Review 10:Restaurant meal was great, but had room service light snack on the following night which wasn't that great.
Review 11:Proximity to town. Clean and comfortable. Very spacious rooms
Review 12:We had dinner in the restaurant and it was so-so. It tasted okay but it cost more than it should have.
Review 13:The location was just off the wharf so that was fantastic. Watched the fireworks directly off our balcony.
Review 14:Friendly staff and very helpful. Clean studio with good facilities. Nice garden area/patio to sit out on . We stayed overnight prior to catching ferry and the location and cleanliness was excellent .
Review 15:Only stayed for one night and didn't get to use the swimming pool. A spa pool overlooking the marina would be great!
Review 16:The staff were super friendly. We loved the Christmas decorations, it made us feel in the Christmas spirit! The food in the restaurant was very good, and I am rather critical about food, but couldn't fault it.
Review 17:Disappointing that the restaurant and bar was completely pre booked for a private function. Not therefore possible to experience what I was told by locals is the best food in town . At least a drink in the bar would have been good.
Review 18:Very helpful staff. Walking distance to ferry. Well equipped and comfortable room
Review 19:Booked this hotel particularly because the restaurant looked so inviting. However, when we arrived, it was fully booked and we couldn't have dinner there. Huge disappointment!
Review 20:Clean, comfortable, well decorated, on the ocean with balcony where we could sit, drink our wine and enjoy the ocean.
Review 21:We would have appreciated a shuttle from the ferry ride, but once we arrived we realized it was a smaller hotel and that it would be difficult for the owner to leave the desk to come for pick-up. Another hotel shuttle graciously gave us a complimentary ride so all was just fine. We had an easy and convenient walk to the train when we left so we really had no need for a shuttle. I would definitely give a positive recommendation for this accommodation.
Review 22:It was very clean and the location was good. Great view and the room was better than I expected. Nice sized room. Appreciated the ability to request a late departure.
Review 23:No sink in the kitchen area. You had to go to the bathroom for water and to wash dishes.
Review 24:The fantastic location. We had and end room that overlooked the harbour and the marina. Hard to beat that.
Review 25:Difficult to access the WiFi and the staff member approached to resolve the problem was next to useless. The response that the system was designed by a man was unhelpful and did not resolve what is normally an autosetup operation. The response is reflective of a poor customer service culture. Note: the parking room is tight.
Review 26:Handy location to town and great harbour view if you are at the front of the complex. Looks like the unit had been redecorated and they have done a great job of modernising the facility. Plenty of room in the studio room we stayed in.
Review 27:found the shower over the bath challenging, not a suitable situation for elderly people, the spa bath was unusable as it sprayed water over the floor.
Review 28:comfortable room provision of kitchen things appreciated.
Review 29:Horrible service. There was no one at the reception when I arrived, despite the fact that I have specified in my booking the time of arrival. The intercom did not work, I was outside waiting for about 10mins and I decided to call the hotel and that is when someone answered the phone and come down to the reception. I did my booking for 2 adults and 1 infant and I was charged extra to have a baby cot for my child. What is the point in specifying in the booking that u have an infant if u r charged extra ?
Review 30:The shower was a bit disappointing with poor water flow
Review 31:Lovely modern room with excellent view and handy location. Good car parking. On site restaurant had delicious menu and accommodated us around a big group. Meals were huge
Review 32:Wifi inadequate in the room - very windy conditions were implicated
Review 33:Staff attentive without being intrusive; viee from room very appealing. Motel near the ferry terminal - not too far even with suitcases.
Review 34:Would be nice to have had green tea bags offered. Room 305 next to restaurant does get some noise from restaurant.
Review 35:Location in Picton is good. Room is clean, comfortable with good facilities. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 36:You cannot fault this place, was excellent!
Review 37:Everything! Beautiful view, very friendly and helpful staff, and only a 1 minute walk to town. Definitely 1 of the best motels we've ever stayed at.
Review 38:All rooms with view of harbour. Small swimming pool & trampoline in garden. Very friendly reception and restaurant staff. Very clean and spacious rooms. Excellent value.
Review 39:The warm welcome from the receptionist, the helpfulness & accommodating service given. Our room was clean, comfortable, modern with an excellent view. Room service food tasty, affordable & plentiful.
Review 40:water pressure in the room was low so took a while to shower and bath to fill for the spa bath.
Review 41:The room was v.ery spacious and comfortable, check in was quick and easy
Review 42:This property was superior in all aspects as far as value for money goes. Comfortable, stylish, clean & quiet with excellent staff who were keen to give 1st class service. It even has a guest laundry with $3 per load wash & dryers. Rate this property one of the best we stayed during our 20 day stay over both Islands
Review 43:No options available for an evening meal bar or cooked breakfast. Restaurant advertised in their promotions and advertising. Very disappointed to have to go into the town to eat or have a few drinks
Review 44:Location and Staff
Review 45:A bit stingy on coffee and tea was the worst I've tasted. On the road but reasonably well soundproofed.
Review 46:Design of room. Great location. Good outside seating. Helpful staff. Recycling bins.
Review 47:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect as it was close to activities we were wanting to undertake and also central Picton. The room was spacious and had great facilities.
Review 48:Wish I'd upgraded to sea view, room was a bit cold until manual heating had been turned on. Outside lighting was unnecessary and somewhat invasive. Parking was pretty tight on occasion.
Review 49:Great location
Review 50:Booked here for the location being next to the water and the fact that there was a restaurant on site, upon arrival we were told that the restaurant was all booked out and we would have to go into town for a meal, they also told us that there would be no room service. Bit disappointing as I only booked three days before arrival, and we were looking forward to just relaxing and not having to move far from our room.
Review 51:Location of Inn, close to town, good views from all rooms.
Review 52:We have stayed here on two previous occasions. We like the location, the view, the restaurant, friendly staff, comfortably furnished rooms. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Picton.
Review 53:Too many beds in the room. Nowhere to sit. The flashing neon light from hotel across the road was distracting expecially at night.
Review 54:Staff were lovely and extremely helpful, always a smile! The room was an excellent size and very clean and comfy.
Review 55:The only detractor was the hot water. I must have run the shower for about a minute before any hot came through. Thought it had run out. Same problem with basin - gave up on getting any hot to wash my hands.
Review 56:Friendly helpful staff. Good rate. Good facilities and all the Sky channels which is great! Don't want to miss sports etc. good location. Really impressed and would recommend it as great value for money. Toasty warm when I came in!
Review 57:beds a little hard. a small microwave and toaster in the room would have been nice. we didn't have a bad experience. breakfast available in the restaurant would be good.
Review 58:location, views both from room and restaurant. room size. 2nd bed in the room
Review 59:Beachcomber is in a great location one block away from High Street and within easy walking distance of the ferry terminal. The room has a great view looking across Picton and Queen Charlotte sound and included a small kitchen and fridge, and a good sized balcony. The restaurant served good food at a reasonable price.
Review 60:Twice I encountered one staff member, an extremely rude short blonde haired lady who needs to either have lessons in customer service or not work in hospitality. Every other person working at the motel was just lovely and very friendly
Review 61:The location was just great and the room was very nice.
Review 62:Couldn't get a drink of food until either 6 or 6.30 so went down town
Review 63:The convenience was great but disappointed at the neighbours out to the front left of the room who always seem to be on the balcony looking our way
Review 64:That we couldn't stay longer.
Review 65:The staff were very helpful as we checked in quite late and they arranged for the key to be left out for us. We had a great view of the ships from our room.
Review 66:Didn't have any microwave, plates etc, and the restaurant wasn't open for breakfast.
Review 67:The hotel had great views of the harbour, and was nice and close to shops.
Review 68:Slow internet (but that's New Zealand compared with UK). Nothing else.
Review 69:Excellent location. Very clean and comfortable. Simple check-in. The hotel is much more than it looks from the roadside.
Review 70:Only down side is spa bath took ages to fill & the noise in our room & I guess the next room! May be just update it with a normal bath.
Review 71:The size of the room & the fantastic view & so close to ferry .
Review 72:other guests smoking on their balconies either side of us which prevented us non smokers from being able to go outside & enjoy our balcony and the view or even have our door or window open because of smoke coming in, not nice for us or our 2 year old.
Review 73:Very friendly Staff, trampoline for my 2 year old & rabbit
Review 74:Nothing at all, couldn't fault it. One of the best stays I've ever had
Review 75:Beds very comfortable, decor modern and relaxing, fantastic views of Picton waterfront and the marina (room 303). Very quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would recommend it.
Review 76:A fantastic place with lovely rooms and views, brilliant staff and fab location. I though the hotels I had been to before were clean, this place is spotless! Wish I had booked more nights here.
Review 77:My only beef was we were on the third floor and the room was very hot! There was no air conditioning unit and we didn't sleep very well due to the heat.
Review 78:The room was lovely, clean and modern with nice views.
Review 79:Very comfortable, excellent accommodation. We stayed in 11 various accom whilst touring NZ. This was one of the cheapest & the best. Also brilliant view of Picton Harbour.
Review 80:Receptionist was friendly and helpful. Entering the room, it was light and airy. More importantly, I was impressed by its cleanliness and that there was no lingering smell. The bed suited my comfort needs.
Review 81:Would stay somewhere else next visit to Picton. The walls were thin or the door between our room and the neighbouring one allowed the noise of the occupants conversation keep us awake. I could even tell they were Austrailians it was so loud. And hear most of the words.
Review 82:The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was great
Review 83:We stayed 1 night to connect to the Coastal Pacific. The room was very clean with a good size and there was a lovely view of the harbour. The town is very small so everything is nearby and the staff were very friendly.
Review 84:Nothing really
Review 85:Very clean rooms. Good view. Central location with only a 5 minute walk to central town. Had meal in restaurant - reasonably priced. Okay meal. Front desk helpful. Room was large and comfortable
Review 86:Shower over the spa
Review 87:Comfortable room, great views over the water and nice sunny little deck area for relaxing. Easy walking distance to main area of town for restaurants, shopping etc. In house restaurant pleasant and convenient. Lift to upper floors.
Review 88:Wifi a little slow but other than that nothing to complain about
Review 89:The customer service, the cleanliness, the comfy beds, love this place. Stayed here 5 years ago and has had a great upgrade, still great service. Highly recommend.
Review 90:Would have like a toaster and microwave for basic cooking facilities. Quite noisy at night with boats at the wharf and people down town.
Review 91:Close to the town centre, great views from the balcony. Walk to the harbour and convenient for getting the water taxi to queen Charlotte walking track.
Review 92:We thought it was no smoking but the persons in the next room were smoking on their balcony which made smoke travel into our room. We ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely but the portions are far too big.
Review 93:Very close to ferry terminal with great views. Friendly staff, clean modern room.
Review 94:Wifi was temperamental and unreliable but that may have been a provider problem. Didn't greatly hinder our enjoyment of our stay.
Review 95:Clean, modern facilities and a close walk to town and the Ferry Terminal.
Review 96:Just be aware there are no staff available overnight. There were some very noisy drunk lads in the nearby carpark one night that kept us awake for several hours and there was no one available to assist deal with this.
Review 97:Huge king size comfortable bed. Being able to sit on balcony in the sun and enjoy the up-close view of the harbour. Swimming in the pool then sunning on the lounger.
Review 98:Great location, perfect if you are catching the ferry, just a 3-4 minute drive, only 3 minute walk to shops, restaurants and marina. Comfortable bed, great facilities and reasonably priced.
Review 99:only 3 deviser is allow to use the wi-fi, I got no wi-fi to use becuase my bro and husband use 3 devisers. loging out one deviser did not allow new deviser to use the wi-fi
Review 100:The view is awesome, the bed is very comfortable
Review 101:The dining room was fully booked before we arrived so we had no chance to eat at the hotel.
Review 102:The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and wel appointed. The views over Picton harbour were amazing! !
Review 103:I had an off choice at their restaurant for dinner.
Review 104:The location was perfect overlooking Picton Bay and close to everything. They were wonderful to hold my luggage and I took a short hike while they finshed my room! They offered a superb suggestion for lunch. Great stay and my first choice to return!
Review 105:Starting to show its age - could do with a refresh of the décor.
Review 106:Central location, facilities all worked well, generous with towels and bathroom toiletries
Review 107:Not enough car parks, had to park up the hill for 1 night.
Review 108:Perfect location for a short stroll to shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. Very clean and comfortable room.
Review 109:Bed so comfortable slept like logs. Close to superb restaurants and shops. Lovely sea views and veranda to sit on and have a cuppa first thing in the morning.
Review 110:Abruptness of reception staff member verging on rude - would be better suited to a non hospitality industry. Room decor very heavy and dark for a waterfront location. For more than one night I would seek out a bigger unit next time, with some food preparation facilities.
Review 111:Location, view of harbour, bed
Review 112:A bit noisy in the mornings with cleaners and departing guests rattling trolleys and luggage along the outside corridors.
Review 113:Good location and views of harbour.
Review 114:I stayed on a Fri and Sun Night. There was no recognition when checking in again on Sun that I had stayed there on Fri. I think the system should highlight previous guests. Its a small point but it would make all the difference to hear 'welcome back'.
Review 115:Check-in was easy and plenty of car parking. The location could not have been better.
Review 116:Stayed over the new year and had the most amazing view of the midnight fire works. Staff were very friendly and room spotless. Have booked again for next year. Cant wait.
Review 117:Upon arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner by the receptionist. All staff very friendly and keen to please; many provided very helpful information about the area. The views from our room were stunning, as it looked out to the harbour; from our door we looked over the marina. Location was great - within a few minutes walk of town centre and beach. Had dinner at the restaurant - fabulous food - good selection including great seafood, all at a reasonable price. Had good nights sleep - no noise. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - hope to return again.
Review 118:Wish we could have stayed longer than one night!
Review 119:This place was lovely, clean, nice views from the balcony, staff were friendly. They even had hot chocolate as well as coffee and tea - a winner with my son.
Review 120:Restaurant was fully booked when we arrived, so could not eat there on New Year's Eve, and then closed for New Year's Day - a bit disappointing! Also, disappointing no breakfast offered in restaurant.
Review 121:Excellent, comfortable rooms with lovely view of harbour.
Review 122:Weak shower. The unheated pool was great children but not so good for oldies.
Review 123:We had a room on the third (top) floor. It was a very nicely renovated large room with an amazing view. We were able to watch boats coming and going in the marina and watched the fireworks of the Maritime Festival from our balcony. A great location, close to shops, cafes, walks and the ferry.
Review 124:No air freshener in bathroom!
Review 125:The room had plenty of space and the bed was very comfortable. Could not fault anything! Quiet location close to the water and the shops. And paid t.v with secure wifi in every room. What more could you ask?
Review 126:Nothing every thing was great
Review 127:Every thing - was very friendy staff.- very clean room with everything we needed . Even they allowed us to wash our car and park our car in their car park even after we checked out .
Review 128:Was a fabulous stay so only nitpicking but would have to say would have liked breakfast bowls provided for those who would like to provide their own breakfast.
Review 129:Loved location, decor and provision of bathroom amenities (ie shampoo etc). Friendly professional staff.
Review 130:The Dutch lady at reception was very helpful to me. She went out of her way for me and found me some leads to charge my laptop. The lead was her own property.
