Reviews for Hotel Tropis
Review 1:The staff were rude and unwelcoming. They give you a list of rules when you arrive. They close the pool in the afternoon and at night- I paid for this amenity and can barely use it. I paid a premium for a sea view room and there is no view. The sea is too far away. They speak poor English. The wifi was very slow. The free breakfast was disgusting - fake scrambled eggs, boiled hot dogs, stale bread. Worst hotel stay ever. Stay away!
Review 2:The location was close to the main street.
Review 3:disappointed that our 'double bed' was in fact two single beds pushed together, this was uncomfortable and clearly not what I young couple would want.
Review 4:The pool was nice and the hotel was very clean throughout, was nice to have a sea view as well and a nice balcony
Review 5:The only thing we didn't like was the shower ...... So small that if you dropped the soap you had to turn off the water, open the doors to pick up the soap !!!! We are not big people !!! Look we may have been unlucky as we had a standard room, but other than that it was great
Review 6:Hotel Tropis was in a good location, walking distance from town. Thou the walk up the little hill was a little tiring. They had a great shuttle bus to take you to the beaches where you were provided with beach umbrellas and lounges. Thou their swimming pool was hard to beat, it was fantastic, included a spa, cool or heated swimming pools. Fantastic (Sorry folks accidentally included a photo in Greece ... Couldn't delete it
Review 7:The only bad experience we had was the loss of our luggage when we arrived in at Reggio Calabria airport but that was no fault of Tropis. Staff at Tropis expecialy Manuala did they absolute best to locate our luggage. The only disappointment was the shower recess in our room was quite small.
Review 8:The bed was very uncomfortable. I was woken up every morning by the cleaners at 8:30 am (eg, the rooms are not generally quiet). The wi fi was very bad. As an English speaking traveller it was not the easiest place to stay. The staff did not know enough about transport to and from the airport. They said the only way to the airport was via 80 euro taxi organised by them or train. I ended up finding a bus from the centre of Tropea straight to the airport for 4 euro (including various other shuttle services).
Review 9:The hotel was in a good location and it was very clean.
Review 10:We can t evaluate it really well.because.we just satayed there for 1 nigth. Everything was great besides the location which isn t bad at all but is not in the centre of town.
Review 11:The sea views the comfty of room spaciuos and the bed
Review 12:Nice hotel if you are staying in beautiful Tropea - 10 minutes walk from the center of the city. Spacious rooms and good ratio price-quality. Also the guests are given free access to 3 beaches with free of charge umbrella and beach chair.
Review 13:The shower had a mind of its on and kept flying off the wall. Bed was a good size but very hard
Review 14:Nice clean we'll run hotel in a good position for tropea town
Review 15:English... is hardly not spoken in this hotell. Did not feel welcome anytime during the stay. Waitors in the restaurant was arrogant and unprofessional. If you are not a german old couple you are worthless for them. Bed was so hard it was hard sleeping and just a blanket for quilt. Minibar was not filled, had to be "activated" for a fee. Should be a service included for every hotell with ambitions. Since the hotell is on the top of a mountain there should be possible to buy some simple stuff at the hotell. Get down in the town to find toothpaste or snack takes 20 minutes if you even find a shop open late.
Review 16:Close to the train station. Breakfast/Food-option when booking gave some value to the stay. The location (pool, gardens, reception, bar) had potential to be good but the low service level took that away.
Review 17:don't be fooled by the pictures... The standard rooms with sea views are a tiny little box. I read reviews about the shower being small but I thought can't be that bad it's a 4 star... I am 5'2, 100 lbs and it was neary impossible to shower.. Drop the soap? Good luck. When we asked to changed rooms we found there are not rooms bigger than that and the manager walked us around making us feel like WE were the hassle. We paid extra for a pool as we were travelling in April due to a wedding, did we swim? NOPE. It was colder than the sea itself. If you are younger - do not stay here, everyone was 50+ and we were told to be quiet at 830? Common. When we arrived we asked the manager for a good place to eat in town and he said "no idea it'll be hard to find lunch" as it was during tropis's serving lunch hour .. We left anyways and found many restaurants, bars, etc within 5 min walk. Pretty low if you ask me. The beds were rock hard and not comfy at all - plus they were two doubles pushed together - when we asked for one bed, they explained that they do not even have that. The spa ladies and the one younger bartender were great, lovely people. Other than that I wouldn't waste your time with this hotel.
Review 18:Nothing
Review 19:Excellent location just outside Tropea center, 5m walk from the railway station. Good rooms, with sea view. WiFi, breakbeats, outdoor swimming pool.
Review 20:Wi-fi - separate username and password necessary for each device and required re-entry on each use. Didn't work at all for our last two days. Entry to fitness suite very restricted and subject to extra payment
Review 21:A pleasant, modern 3-4 star hotel with an excellent bar and swimming pool and clean and comfortable rooms. Good range of food, if a little basic, for breakfast, and very friendly and helpful staff. Within easy walking distance (5-10 mins) of Tropea, a delightful little town perched on the cliffs with plenty of places to eat. Shuttle service to three very nice beaches with complimentary sunbeds and umbrellas
Review 22:A very clean and beautiful hotel. Very helpful staff!!! Lots to do from pools to spas. The breakfast had a great variety to choose from as well. I just wished we were there much longer. Will definitely return.
Review 23:we did not like the fact that we had to pay to use the gym!!!
Review 24:Location was excellent, very clean spacious rooms, good wifi connection, free parking, nice swimming pool area, good buffet breakfast
Review 25:The fact that we didn't have wifi in the lobby / pool area
Review 26:A very well situated, close to town center as well as train station and tge beach, all could be reached on foot. I liked the free wifi and free parking. The breakfast buffet is pretty good.
Review 27:WIFI didn't work in my room or the room that my parents were staying in (different levels and areas). Mentioned this to reception immediately but the issue remained during our short stay.
Review 28:Nice rooms, lovely balcony (with handy clothes airer), well kept and easy parking.
Review 29:Lack of real fresh Italian coffee at breakfast.

Review 58:Our room included acces to the spa, but we were not told that it had to be reserved the day before so we did not get this
Review 59:Breakfast and dinner.
Review 60:The pillows were a bit hard
Review 61:Everything except one thing
Review 62:Staff attitude
Review 63:Everything!!
Review 64:The sea; it wasn't very clean during my stay.
Review 65:Tropea; the city where the hotel is located.
Review 66:Pool and Breakfast!
Review 67:Tropea is a wonderful resort town. Tropis Hotel of the main drag but a reasonable walk to centro. Lovely pool.
Review 68:Not in a great location. The 'sea view' room was a bit of a joke - you could technically see the sea, but it was mainly other buildings, ca park and and satellite dishes. You can walk in 20 mins or so to the beach, but it's steep and hot so not great for anyone with mobility challenges, and the shuttle bus has to be booked in advance so it's a bit regimented. Staff at reception weren't generally very friendly. Pretty bland and boring. No atmosphere. Bathrooms a bit stressful - very shiny tiled floors, making them very slippery! Booking.com's quote didn't include tax originally, so it came out a bit more expensive than we had expected. Overall, I think there were other much nicer places in Tropea, and that the sea is so clear and good for swimming that it's not worth paying extra for the pool.
Review 69:Nice pool. Some of the staff were really friendly. Decent breakfast (although certainy not the best we had in Italy), good wifi. Rooms comfortable. Big terrace. Tropea itself is really lovely - we were apprehensive about a resort town, but it is very pretty, has a good range of beaches and perfect sea for swimming in, so we really enjoyed it.
Review 70:The only problem was that when you get to the hotel and no parking space is available just beside the gate, you have to leave your car down by the road which is quite far from the rooms and not a secure area. There was another big parking area just by the reception level but one could not park there....just used to load / unload your luggage which was a waste of space in my opinion.
Review 71:Apart from it's quiet location, the centre of Tropea is just 5 mins away. Rooms are large and comfortable. Staff is very helpful and polite.
Review 72:Bathroom had a step up halfway to the toilet and a very small shower. Shower so small that if you drop your bar of soap it is difficult to bend down to retrieve it. Towels were new, apparently not washed, and shedding lint all over us. We came down to have breakfast after a tour group left and there was hardly any food left and they did not have any more. This actually was the worst breakfast on our 9 day trip and not worthy of a 4 star hotel.
Review 73:Great and quiet location, especially if one has a car. Not only does the hotel has its own parking but there is a municipal parking lot next door. About a 10 minutes walk down to the historic centre. New hotel but very sterile atmosphere. Nice clean room with a large terrace. Waiting staff speak German beside Italian.
Review 74:The restaurant and the staff in the Restaurant
Review 75:Close to centre of Tropea but not so close as to hear the nightlife in Tropea. (Music festival in full voice during our stay)
Review 76:I had some problem with shower and hot water, WI-Fi was very slow. But it seems the similar problem was everywhere in Tropea.
Review 77:Staff is very kind and helpful. If was problem they were solving this immediately. Breakfast were perfect!
Review 78:The first room we got was very small. We had booked a room with twinbeds and the wall light was directly above the pillow of one of thebeds which meant my friend banged against it whenever she turned herhead. We asked for a larger room and our persistence paid off as ourrequest was granted.
Review 79:Location was very good as it was a short walk to the centre of Tropea. The shuttle bus to the beach was an advantage as were the complimentarysunbeds and umbrella. Breakfast was great and the staff was veryprofessional. Hotel was very well run.
Review 80:it is easy to reach railway station (5 mins walk). Rich breakfast and good room, great view from big private balcony.
Review 81:Bit outside of main area of the town. Spa facilities not well thought in terms of layout.
Review 82:Value for money
Review 83:Poor lighting in the bathroom.
Review 84:staff, friendly and helpful, good choice of food and good value. Very clean and good sized rooms.
