Reviews for Kurashiki Ivy Square
Review 1:The inside. Feels like an old, little and boring hotel but... much bigger. Same for the public bath, it could have been better.
Review 2:The location. The vines running on the walls outside. So many photos to take! And right in the center of Kurashiki where everything is.
Review 3:Be aware that the shared bathroom is literally that! If that's not your thing, pay for a room with a private bathroom. Unless you absolutely love a Japanese breakfast, I'd find breakfast elsewhere, it was very expensive, with very limited western choices. No wifi in the rooms.
Review 4:Very central to the historic district. Great hot chocolate in the restaurant!!
Review 5:Location's great - quiet, private, just a couple blocks from the historic canal. It's got an interestingly stodgy Meiji style, and my above-lowest-rate twin room was very spacious and clean. The onsen is fairly utilitarian but fine, and certainly better than no onsen!
Review 6:Bed size is a bit short for Westerners.
Review 7:The rooms are a little old, but it is the most interesting place to stay in Kurashiki. It is not only near the tourist area, it is part of it.
Review 8:A bit far fro the train station. Caught a cab to get there.
Review 9:The entire facility is lovely. We had booked a standard double room but were given a suite.
Review 10:lack of wifi in the rooms
Review 11:location and the wonderful bath
Review 12:the location
Review 13:Very friendly and helpful staff
Review 14:The location was excellent. It made sightseeing a breeze. We walked to everything. The staff spoke good English and was extremely helpful.
Review 15:- Rooms are rather small
Review 16:- Hotel setting is quite special compared to other Japanese hotels - Good, central location - Competent, friendly staff with good English language skills - Nice onsen/pool
Review 17:Very well located in the historical district (Bikan). The hotel is located in an old coton factory, it's a nice place (the architecture is more british than japanese though), the rooms are big and very well equiped, the staff is nice and speaks English.
Review 18:Rooms very small with outdated furniture. They didn't tell us there was a public bath- might have been a nice experience . Dinner menus so-so. Why do Japanese serve red wine chilled?
Review 19:Great location to explore the old Kurashiki. Interesting building. Breakfast had good variety for Japanese and Western food
Review 20:Excellent location in the historical part of the town near to all the attractions. Beautiful and spacious garden and lobby. Rooms are big and friendly.
Review 21:The staff speaks few english, the room doesn’t have a shower and even though the onsen was a good experience, they really have low tolerance to tattoos which is not mentioned anywhere in the rules. I had to cover my small tattoo to take a bath.
Review 22:The location hardly could be better, very central. The building is really gorgeous, definitely a place to visit. The onsen is quite nice too.
Review 23:Long walk to the train station... need to take a taxi.
Review 24:Great location for seeing Kurashiki. Good Japanese Bath. Good for looking around the old part of this town and for shopping and museums.
Review 25:The rooms were very average and rather dated. I think the hotel is aimed at the 60+ age range
Review 26:The staff we're excellent. Attentive, flexible and they showed a real desire to assist
Review 27:Room is old design, not nice view (only there are second floor), dark.. Air condition was too noisy. Not for long stay.
Review 28:Very good location to go any main touristic area. Not too expensive and Hotel area is original designed.
Review 29:Cheaper twin rooms can be a bit small for some people, but you can choose upper grade with a small charge, so not much a problem.
Review 30:The venue carries the atomosphere of early modern Japan with different crafts work shops. Its location is superb.
Review 31:-
Review 32:The hotel is nicely located and the old red brick building is charming. The onsen in the hotel is very good. A nice surprise was the newspaper delivered in the room every morning.
Review 33:Boring furniture in the rooms, no wireless except in a "common area" uncomfortable and unnviting, no lounge
Review 34:The location and the conversion of the old cotton mill
Review 35:I do not like getting these questionnaires
Review 36:The location and the historic nature of the building.
Review 37:Noisy, dining room, periodically crowded with tours.
Review 38:Location in historic district. Re-use of industrial buildings.
Review 39:Very good hotel to visit Kurashiki and have some relax. Very kind staff.
