Reviews for Arika Villa
Review 1:Bathroom had a slightly funny smell to it, and they don't have an alcohol license so remember to bring your own in!
Review 2:Very tasty restaurant, lovely staff and a place to relax in the middle of the forest. Once you get over how remote the hotel is and how quiet it is we realised it was a great place to stay and relax, monkeys in the garden were pretty amazing too!!!
Review 3:Airport pick up was arranged but had no email with details and didn't know if anyone would be at the airport or not. For dinner they have a set menu and the only vegi option was pasta in cheese sauce. Disappointed not to be eating Sri Lankan food. Also it's pretty slow and we were absolutely starving after travelling and not eating all day.
Review 4:It was a good location, nice and quiet but close enough to sites, about 20 mins to cave temples and 45 mins to sigiriya. The manager was really friendly and very helpful in arranging transport locally and a great driver to take us to Kandy.
Review 5:Expensive food & minimalistic .Lack of choices. Waiters could improve customer focused skills. No late food options availability. Run out of drinks options.
Review 6:Room is nice. Bed confortable. Location & surrounding beautiful setting.
Review 7:Staff was only moderate friendly and not very flexibel. Room was not cleaned properly when we came.
Review 8:The garden outside and possibillity to sit on the veranda. Very quiet. Room was quite nice.
Review 9:Ther was no Buffett only a set menu which was not very interesting as the selection was poor. Bookin.com should mention that there is no Buffett.
Review 10:The staff were very kind
Review 11:Shower water is a bit too cold. Aircon is a bit too noisy..
Review 12:Beautiful garden, huge room! And beautifully designed! Comfortable room with high ceiling. Warm staff! Highly recomend!
Review 13:Beer/wine isn't served here, but you can bring it in and drink it at the restaurant/pool if you want. Takes an hour for dinner to arrive (they warn you of this ahead of time so you can order before you are too hungry). The bathroom had a slightly strange smell, could have been from someone smoking outside. And, one night tons of little beetles flew onto the property. The staff did their best to manage it. The next evening hardly any beetles flew in.
Review 14:Beautiful hotel far from the main road. Nice and quiet, with a lovely pool to relax in after a long day of sightseeing.
Review 15:I wish the bathrooms would have been air conditioned. There were also a lot of ants in the bathroom and some mosquitoes.
Review 16:The showers were really cool. The location is beautiful, quiet, and peaceful.
Review 17:Very limited TV channels.
Review 18:The hotel itself was just beautiful. The location was though a little away from the city but really peaceful. The room was really nice and well decorated. The bathroom was almost as big as the room and it had a separate shower area. The pool was really good and the water was really clean. The food at the hotel was just amazingly delicious. The staff was so helpful and friendly that you don't feel as you are a guest.
Review 19:We were checked in to the room right next to the front desk. We could clearly hear the people outside of our room talking, which made it feel like we didn't have a lot of privacy.
Review 20:The room and pool were beautiful. Very relaxing atmosphere.
Review 21:Would be good if there was more variety in the menu or things that didn't take 1 hour to cook. Or possibly tell people when they check in that they should order their meal well before they want to eat it
Review 22:Friendly and helpful staff, great pool.
Review 23:Rooms and meals too expensive. For a little bit more can stay in nearby 5 star hotels. The location is also far away from attractions.
Review 24:Clean, comfortable, staff attentive and extremely helpful. Good management.
Review 25:Power outage constantly during the night swithched ac off constantly. Resulted in a poor nights sleep. Not ideal
Review 26:Clean Place with great personalised service.
Review 27:There were a few things that weren't kept ready. Like the coffee sachets or milk whiteners and we had to ask for these small things to the staff. But the smiling nd helpful staff was always there.
Review 28:The ambience. The swimming pool. The staff.
Review 29:The only thing I would mention is that we had a very simple breakfast of toast and coffee, which cost us 1,000 rupees (a little steep). Otherwise, all good!
Review 30:The place is so beautiful! We especially loved the massive showers and the pool. The place is quiet and staff are very friendly.
Review 31:The admosphere was very nice. You can relax in the forest with a great pool next to your room. The staf was very helpfull. Rooms are very big and the bathroom is very nice.
Review 32:Nothing. Would stay again.
Review 33:Very friendly and helpful staff as well as a large size modern room. The location is great in the middle of the jungle and only 10 minutes to Dambulla temple and 45 minutes to Sigiriya.
Review 34:Did not have good wifi in our room. Had to go to lobby which was about 20 feet away so not a major problem.
Review 35:Had zen like quality in the design and ambience of the facility; isolated from any noise from traffic or city activities, you are truly in sanctuary. Enjoyed the big rooms, big bathrooms, and clean and clear swimming pool. Breakfast and dinner were gourmet quality - great value for what you get.
Review 36:Wifi signal was patchy.
Review 37:Huge bedroom and bathroom with a patio overlooking a river. Hotel is in a great location, surrounded by jungle and off the main road but within 10 min drive from Dambulla and 30 mins from Sigirya. Very friendly staff.
Review 38:The food was bland, overpriced and expensive. Location isn't great its a 30 minute drive in a three wheeler to the nearest decent restaurant, our driver found it very difficult to find, then didn't reply to my emails when I tried to contact them about driver accommodation. Wifi did work in the rooms.
Review 39:The rooms were huge, tastefully decorated
Review 40:Bad service with 45-min average wait at the restaurant , which is not great when you want to leave early to avoid the heat of the day and have young (read impatient) kids. Restaurant served spicy paste bologanise and turned milk to our young kids. Room not even clean (spider webs) Location a bit remote from Dambulla
Review 41:The swimming pool The huge room
Review 42:Nothing bad to say.
Review 43:Beautiful villa. Fantastic kind and helpful staff. Wonderful chef cooking the best food we have had in Sri Lanka so far. Large rooms with big balcony overlooking jungle. Watched the monkeys playing in the trees every day. so close to us. Beautifully designed hotel. Thank you to the manager and staff . We would book again if we ever visited the area again and would reccommend 100 %.
Review 44:Our room(104) was wonderful, by the river and the jungle full of birds, an amazing open air shower. The manager was so very helpful, found us a very good driver and was so hospitable. A delightful stay, for 4 nights. Good spot from which to visit the various sites.
Review 45:driver didnt have quaters.i think they should be well lookedafter as well as they have to drive long distance
Review 46:the rooms were quite big and comfortable.had a good swimming pool.
Review 47:Don't stay here if you don't have transport- it is in the middle of nowhere. Food is quite expensive but good.
Review 48:friendly, well run boutique hotel. Efficient staff and good facilities.
Review 49:A bit far away from Dambulla sights if you do not have a car
Review 50:Actual duvet in bed (not a standard in Sri Lanka) Quiet location Spacious, comfortable room Great food Swimming pool
Review 51:Location, in the middle of nowhere, meaning you are stuck there for all meals which are completely OVER priced for Sri Lanka (ex: 5 tiny pieces of pineapple for 450 Rs + 10% tax, breakfast at 1350 Rs + 10%,...). There was no warm water, a pity when you pay more than 100 USD for a room... Wet towels were not replaced the following day. Lots of unwanted animals...
Review 52:Big size of the room, design of the hotel in general.
Review 53:Reception staff were rarely there, location isn't close to city centre, food is very overpriced (RS1000 for a continental breakfast?! And RS250 for water)
Review 54:Rooms were massive, bathroom was incredible (you have to see it!), pool was nice
Review 55:Breakfast not included Location far from the center (15 mn tuk tuk, or bus from the main road)
Review 56:Food is excellent (even if pricy compared to Sri Lankan places, it's worth the price) : we stayed 3 nights and tried every night different dishes : everything was delicious. Swimming pool is clean and very appreciated after a whole day of visit. The building is modern and stylish (qualitative material). Staff is very kind
Review 57:Hotel is situated along the main road 10km South of Dambulla. You need your own transport, toektoek or the local busses, stopping every 10min. No problem! Hotel and personal is passive with tourist information and other services. To shy
Review 58:Very lovely hotel. Stylish with all comfort
Review 59:- Staff not always super attentive. - A bit overpriced for Sri Lanka. - Food is definitively expensive for Sri Lanka.
Review 60:- Clean, nice modern hotel. - Fine swimming pool.
Review 61:Nothing to complain about really. Dinner and breakfast options could be a little cheaper, and our balcony could have been cleaned better but these are just very minor suggestions.
Review 62:The Arika Villa is actually the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. Clean, large, airy rooms, great swimming pool, fantastic modern architecture, excellent staff. I strongly recommend this hotel as a base when exploring the cultural triangle area!
Review 63:Location bit far from sites, but not a problem if you have a driver.
Review 64:Location serene and tranquil away from crowds. Staff very helpful, attentive, courteous. Spacious designer rooms with modern, clean facilities. Extremely relaxing, highly recommended.
Review 65:Huge room, pool just outside the door, very nice bathroom
Review 66:The breakfast is a bit expensive, but the black tea is great!
Review 67:Everything is just perfect!
Review 68:Nothing at all.
Review 69:The staff were fantastic. The location was peaceful and not far from the Dambulla Cave Temple. It is a clean and comfortable hotel.
Review 70:The attractive location. Comfort room. taste food. Swim pool. Staff
Review 71:Value for money, cost of food on menu, ants!
Review 72:Staff willingness to help, size of room
Review 73:Friendly, quiet & good pool. Cuisine very good & local. Great place to start a holiday in Sri Lanka.
Review 74:Rooms were very big and comfortable. Meals were excellent.
Review 75:nothing to dislike
Review 76:Comfort and cleaniliness.
Review 77:No alcohol in restaurant Bit far from everything No accommodation for drivers
Review 78:Big rooms Good bathrooms
Review 79:Only problem is they aren't licensed
Review 80:Really lovely resort and attentive staff. A little bit out of town and can have a swim in the pool or the river!
Review 81:Some chairs around the pool would be nice
Review 82:Very beautiful place and building. The swimming pool and the little river beneath are wonderful. Very friendly and helpful staff
Review 83:Nice and pretty new hotel. missing the visability of a hotel manager. Nice pool, but no sunbeds (according to the staff these were ordered (feb'14) so should be ok soon. No alcoholic drinks served, but you can buy it in town.
Review 84:Nice and big room and bathroom, terrace attached to room. Nice pool. Good food in the restaurant, but little overpriced for what it is, small portions.
Review 85:The hotel location is amazing. I liked the stay too much. The hotel structure with the view to a river and swing pool in the middle make you wish for nothing else. The food was also delicious
Review 86:the hotel is the best where I travelled in Str Lanka, staff is welcome and food is good, room is quiet and big, outside is a small lake with squirrel, view is also beautiful, will live here next time to SriLanka.
Review 87:A little bit remote - but its only 10 mins to Dambulla by tuk tuk. It does mean that it is quite and relaxing though which was very welcome after racing around Sri Lanka.
Review 88:Wow, what a find. This place is amazing. If you want excellent service and amazing food with peace and quiet, this is the place. Designer hotel, beautifully clean rooms and fab pool. Easy enough to get to Sirigia and Dambulla - both by tuk tuk.
Review 89:A couple of things to improve: the wifi was only accessible from the reception and there was no signal in the room. The frigde was so loud we had to switch it off at night. There were too many switches in the room and to find the correct one for the lamp you needed patience trying all of them in a row until finding the right one :)
Review 90:When booking, I tried to search for some comments about Arika Villa, but could not find almost anything. Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised to find a nice and modern-looking small hotel in a quiet location. We learnt that it was opened just 6 months ago. Villa has a great ambience and the staff is helpful and friendly. They told us they didn't have a room for drivers there, but the receptionist helped us out and accomodated our driver during our stay. Our room (#102) was really spacious with an exit to the backyard. The bathroom was big too and its open roof gave the impression of taking a shower outside (a very interesting design solution). There was also a swimming-pool, bbq and garden. There was no problem to get a socket adaptor from the reception. The hotel offers Continental, English or Sri Lankan breakfast and the menu for dinner is very good. We stayed in Arika Villa for 2 nights and we truly enjoyed the quietness, relaxing environment and being surrounded by nature. In the morning you could hear birds singing which was lovely! Despite the small drawbacks, it is a highly recomendable place to stay with children, friends or for couples at an affordable price.
Review 91:Difficult to find the place, expensive according to the facility and service.
Review 92:The staff are good, and the room is huge.
Review 93:Very good food, new facilities and friendly people.
Review 94:Not enough practical details , only one chair in the bedroom & no small towels nor shampoo .
Review 95:The peaceful location & staff & decor
Review 96:The welcoming and excellent staff and service. The wonderful food and surrounding by peace and wildlife.
