Reviews for Hotel & Resort Capo La Gala
Review 1:The perfect Mediterranean resort on the Sorrento Coast. Boutique, gorgeous property. Stunning grounds. Your room is right on the blue sea, illuminated at night. We couldn't have asked for a more idyllic Italianian oceanside experience, our expectations were exceeded in every way. The staff here were some of the friendliest and most likable in our entire stay in Italy.
Review 2:I personally wasn't a huge fan of the dinner restaurant Maxi and it was quite expensive. The more casual restaurant was not open at night when we were there due to weather. However, they offered a free shuttle into town and gave a great recommendation for a local restaurant.
Review 3:The rooms were wonderful and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The balcony with the view of the sea was amazing!!! Loved everything about the hotel and amenities!
Review 4:The food in the Michelin restaurant could have been a little better and additional charges for breakfast eggs is ridiculous.
Review 5:The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Everything about the place.
Review 6:The pool temperature was sub zero; but we found that a common occurrence Italy and what does it matter when the Bay of Campagna is a step away?
Review 7:Impeccable service; wonderful food; beautiful location. Serious cocktail program was a plus. We did not have to concern ourselves with anything but enjoyment for the entirety of the stay.
Review 8:nothing
Review 9:Beautiful peaceful design in rooms (in blue tones).Amazing setting along the water. Great restaurants, specially the beach one.Very friendly staff
Review 10:It was remote from Sorrento, the hotel did have a shuttle to vico equense train station but this was a bit of a hike. The breakfast was poor, if you liked cornflakes or coco pops fine, you had to pay extra for eggs other than scambled. The restaurant was very restricted to fish and very expensive. €65 for a pizza and a bottle of wine at lunch time, pricey!
Review 11:The location on the water was nice and the staff were friendly.
Review 12:There is not much to complain about as this was an excellent hotel and we were lucky it was relatively quiet in July! 2 things that disappointed slightly - 1- it was not easy to swim as patches of algae and foam of sea water accumulated in the bay by the hotel. Nothing much to do about that. And 2 - the hotel could invest in better bed linens as they felt not as comfortable or soft as we would have expected of such a good hotel.
Review 13:1- very friendly and helpful staff 2- amazing room with balcony so close to the rocks and sea water 3- fabulous restaurant and sunset in front 4- it was quiet and private in a beautiful setting 5- car park valet service was very helpful
Review 14:Went to Capo la Gala for our 25th wedding anniversary and couldn't have picked a more beautiful and romantic setting. Excellent food and lovely staff
Review 15:The hotel is run very well and feels extremely exclusive which is what you pay for. The staff however were nowhere near as friendly or welcoming as I would have expected and there is a slight sense of tightness from management - a 15 EURO corkage fee for your own wine in rooms, only hotel bought water at the pool, a very expensive pool restaurant - 22 Euros for a plate of pasta (fair enough in the Maldives but within a 5 minute drive you can eat similar pasta for 8 Euros)... It just felt a bit much.
Review 16:The location and setting are second to none. Every room has a fantastic sea view of sparkling, clear blue waters. The rooms are comfortable, large and beautifully decorated and the communal areas are very classy. Great cocktails too!
Review 17:Overpriced room, food and drinks Not getting a hot shower Noise from the corridor Waiter asking for a tip
Review 18:The view Bedrooms and decor Service at the beach
Review 19:Our room was rarely replenished with tea/coffee. Also we were recommended to a below average restaurant in town, as were many other people in the hotel, which was a shame as we were only there for 6 nights
Review 20:We loved how close the hotel was to the sea and the incredible fresh seafood. Rooms were airy with a lovely décor and relaxed atmosphere. Amazing local wine and prosecco on offer!
Review 21:Only having access to a fine dining restaurant for dinner was limiting and it was expensive. I chose to eat here once for the experience, but was not enticed to return.
Review 22:The service was excellent; the staff were very helpful; the room very comfortable; and the location is beautiful. Very relaxing. As the resort is about a kilometre out of Vico Equense, it is very convenient to have access to the shuttle.
Review 23:I wish we went when the weather was a little warmer to enjoy to ocean. April- the water is a bit chilly. I cannot think of a single negative aspect. Truly a perfect place.
Review 24:Staff was over accommodating and went way out of there way to ensure we had an experience of a lifetime. The room was amazing, words cannot describe the views. Never been so close to Paradise. Platinum experience. We will absolutely be back every year!
Review 25:On site restaurant for dinner is lovely for one night, but as it is a 5 star Michelin rated venue, it isn't for every evening.
Review 26:Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Location was perfectly situated...not too far from busier areas, yet wonderfully select and quiet. Definitely recommend this for anyone wishing to be pampered without it feeling overly stuffy or pretentious. Spa facilities and staff were lovely. Breakfast buffet was also quite nice. Staff overall were stellar. If you want a truly lovely, quiet and restful get away, we recommend this venue in September.
Review 27:Nothing!!
Review 28:I loved being at the seaside and the location makes all of the Amalfi coast within easy reach. Crystal at tbe Spa also offers a very good leg treatment and massage.
Review 29:The location was amazing and the staff/service offered was excellent. We will be back! Also thanks for organising the private boat trip to Capri, it was breathtaking and the weather was ideal! Thank you
Review 30:This is just a stunning hotel. Excellent service, peaceful, amazing scenery & fantastic restaurant. The best of the 4 Mr.&mrs.smith hotels we've stayed in. If in doubt. Book it!
Review 31:Decor - paintings and flooring a little garish for my taste - but not so bad to have affected our stay Pool is too cold
Review 32:Small intimacy with space and style Restaurants - both excellent View Access to sea Staff attentive and willing to help
Review 33:Capo La Gala has found the perfect formula for the modern coastal resort: This hotel have an outstanding location on the amalfi coastline. The architecture is nicely adapted to its location with its breathtaking views, magnificent food and wine, and a helpful and professional staff making your stay rememberable!
Review 34:Rooms off reception can be a bit noisy.
Review 35:Stunning hotel, 5* service at its best, great restaurants, fab evening cocktails, beautiful views.
Review 36:Nothing apart from urchin pasta but I hear it's an acquired taste
Review 37:Everything
Review 38:Beautiful hotel.
Review 39:its location was very tranquil and beautiful
Review 40:Incredibly well organized, beautiful hotel with fabulous staff and amenities
Review 41:Fabulous food,Service and Location
Review 42:beds not comfortable, no guide of the hotel facilities in the room. Hotel didn't offer any water sports.
Review 43:Hotel
Review 44:The room is very small and noisy...which is not expected in a five Stars hotel.
Review 45:Restaurant and views are great as well as the beach.
Review 46:Food was too salty.
Review 47:Wonderful location. Cute decor.
Review 48:I knew it would be a higher than normal charge for drinks but it still annoys me when you are asked to pay €6 for a bottle of beer.
Review 49:Fantastic location and from the moment we arrived at the hotel to the moment we left, we were very well looked after. Good rooms, great food and wine, along with great scenery.
Review 50:A la carte breakfast menu, any type of egg or freshly squeezed juice was charged extra
Review 51:Loved the spectacular views, proximity to the sea, outdoor gym overlooking the sea and the spa!
Review 52:The casual restaurant closes in the evening leaving only Maxi. It would be nice to be able to have a casual meal at the hotel. If you buy seafood or meat by the gram it doesn't seem to be weighed correctly by the chef and you either pay less for a lot of an extortionate amount for very little. It seems made up. It isn't anywhere near Sorrento so should not be advertised as a Sorrento hotel. We didn't like Sorrento so it wasn't an issue but it is a bit misleading because a taxi to Sorrento is 30 euros each way.
Review 53:The setting is stunning. The decor is stunning. The staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel and rooms were immaculate. It has been one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.
Review 54:You could smell chlorine or something like it in the wing in which our room was located. I presume this came from the spa?
Review 55:The location is just sublime - service, friendly and very professional. The restaurant is most deserving of its Michelin star. Highly recommended - a really classy place.
Review 56:From us only positive feedback.
Review 57:Everything is perfect from the arrival with a glass of Prosecco to the location of the hotel, the fantastic rooms and the great restaurant. Very friendly staff who try to make your stay even more memorable.
Review 58:The pool was freezing cold, classic room is small with no terrace if you can afford it take room with terrace.
Review 59:Good location, excellent food, poolstaff very helpfull
Review 60:extremely cold swimming pool. too cold to use. pointless having the pool as no one used it and it was too deep for my wife. we love pool holidays and it was so disappointing. it was also very dirty. leaves, bird feathers and a layer of scum on top. standard rooms are really standard. they are 3 star standard in a 5 star hotel. noise from the rooms. don't expect to lie in. wide awake from 6.30am. you can hear everything for the hallway and rooms above. very surprised. hotel felt like a ghost hotel at times. very few guests for it's size. bar was empty nearly every night.
Review 61:location staff Michele the worlds best barman. food vico equense free shuttle to vico spa and treatments
Review 62:1. Noise isolation absolutely doesn't exist, we heard everything going on in the neighbor room! 2. Ceramics floors in rooms are not quite comfortable. Rooms decoration was very poor and cheep. 3. The restaurant that was announced as a "fine dining" restaurant is actually poor and cheap (I don't mean the prices!)! Food was not tasty and the choice of plates was small. Only the wine list was excellent. 4. The gym was opened just from 10-00 a.m. - too late! This is not a 5 star hotel and I would not recommend this hotel to anybody.
Review 63:Very good staff - friendly and attentive!
Review 64:Sea is not always very clean (but the hotel cannot be blamed for this...) The town next door (Vico) is worth a short visit but fairly small and one needs to drive (17km) in a hostile environment (bikers are daredevils) and go to Sorrento to find a proper nightlife.
Review 65:Great atmosphere and fine hotel concept Great staff Nice view Great Spa Good restaurants (Maxi and Nerea) The Pizza alla Nerano! The outstanding way we were treated during our stay. The fairly small size of the hotel
Review 66:Nothing.
Review 67:Everything was perfect! This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The view from our room was breathtaking, the room itself was beautiful & clean, the staff was extra friendly, the Michelin stared restaurant was wonderful. We loved it so much that we extended our stay there.
Review 68:Fantastic staff, great location - direct water access - relaxed atmosphere. Fresh, well-prepared food and superb attention to detail. Rooms were comfortable and well appointed and all have gorgeous views. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing, comfortable, indulgent break. Closed in winter.
Review 69:Pool very cold. Slightly overpriced drinks. Breakfast a bit mean. Omelette 6 euro yet scrambled eggs free. What is the difference in terms of effort and eggs used?
Review 70:Absolutely beautiful place. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and well furnished. Nice honeymoon destination.
Review 71:Highly recommend a stay here.
Review 72:The staff at the hotel were friendly, informative, helpful, and genuine in their interest to make our stay a perfect one. The rooms were lovely, clean, large bathrooms with all amenities. There was a guest car to take you privately to the train...from where you can easliy access Pompeii and Sorrento. The food at the restaurant was excellent.
Review 73:The overall dining experience was spoiled by the extravagant pricing and 'nouvelle cuisine' portions. Access to the sea was inconvenient and risky when the sea was a bit rough. They could easily overcome that. It could be dangerous for kids and older people. For 5 stars, the rooms are small - surprisingly so, based the images on their web-site. The room balconies were primitive, with almost no privacy. Ironically the cheaper Classic rooms had more private and slightly larger balconies. The Wedding reception held during our stay was intrusive (a main entertainment area directly above our room.....'dancing on the ceiling?'), and contrary to the much-lauded and publicized 'exclusively private, and chic' promise. The hotel Parking was a disaster, and my car was damaged as a result of congestion and carelessness. The shuttle bus curfew was unreasonably early.
Review 74:The location and situation. Being low to the water, the bathing and lounging areas were secluded, and sheltered from the traffic on the coast road. Dining-in was a quality experience - and the Chef's specials were impressive. The staff were friendly - especially the room maids. Nothing was too much trouble. The 'beach' attendant was particularly helpful and hard-working. The shuttle service was useful and freely available at short notice.
Review 75:Our room was on 5th floor and think the 4 rooms on this floor are theonly ones without a balcony. If you don't want Michelin starred cuisineat night your options are restricted to room service or complimentaryshuttle bus to local town where restaurants are nice but it's not thatattractive a town.
Review 76:Liked just about everything! Very grown up hotel which was great for uson a child-free anniversary trip. Location beautiful, room lovely, beautifully refreshing (chilly!) seawater pool, fab breakfast, greatservice. Will go back in a shot!
Review 77:we loved it. only suggestions would be: since there is no air conditioning it would be great if the gym was open for longer/ earlier to avoid the heat. the food is excellent, but it would be nice to have more variety (both breakfast and lunch) for those guests staying for longer durations (maybe have daily specials).
Review 78:Sunsets, scenery, setting and staff all perfect. Loved this little hotel, it is a mile or so outside vico equense, but the hotel provides a free shuttle to the station. Ideal base to discover sorrento, pompei and versuvius. The amalfi coast is east to get to from here. Would recommend.
Review 79:I took my sister for a hen weekend, this was our first visit to Italyand we are fussy!! This was the best holiday experience we have ever hadand I will be back on a regular basis. I cannot fault a thing. The headbar man was excellent and the food in Maxi is the best that has everpast my lips! Wonderful experience.
Review 80:We thought that the hotel is a romantic getaway for couples but we were surprised to find families with young kids and babies staying there.
Review 81:The hotel staff polite and always helpful.excellent restaurant.the view from our room was fantastic.
Review 82:Nothing
Review 83:Location and quality of food and service
Review 84:They claim five star service and are one of the few hotels that actually deliver.
Review 85:the "gourmet" restaurant food was pretentious We tried it and never returned
Review 86:Wonderful restaurant, friendly staff, great rooms, relaxing location
Review 87:Nothing !
Review 88:Amazing food
Review 89:beautiful hotel with a stunning pool and sea access. Staff couldn't do enough to help us with every request. Fabulous food.
