Reviews for Waterfront Lodge Motel
Review 1:The smallest room I have ever been offered, 7 feet by 11, partly taken up by rudimentary wardrobe and cupboard facilities. A small double bed squeezed in and a small window providing a view onto a piece of dirt covered in cigarette butts and what looked like used toilet paper. No alternatives available, though we were able to cancel the second night and secure a refund accordingly.
Review 2:Location is reasonably convenient for Hobart.
Review 3:The room is too hot in the afternoon. There is only a fan and no air conditioning.
Review 4:It's clean and tidy. The fridge is big. There is shared kitchen in the motel. The room is fairly big with a sink and microwave , and a table with three chairs.
Review 5:The staff knew nothing about what was in their city! There was no soap dispenser near the bath and the washing machine, dryer were very dirty andin a back corner hard to get at.
Review 6:The location was near everything.
Review 7:The room was dark, hot, musty and uninviting. We had to ask twice for clean towels. There was no wardrobe, only a rack, no tea towel or washing up liquid for the meager dishes provided, not even a tea spoon. Not impressed
Review 8:The location
Review 9:We arrived hours before check in time and the cleaners prioritised cleaning our room so we could check in early, so nice! The staff were friendly and helpful and location is quite beautiful, despite not being able to walk into town.
Review 10:Outside lights shine into room at night. Could have used some sheer curtains otherwise the heavy curtains needed to be used for privacy from the parking lot.
Review 11:8min drive into Hobart. Clean, comfortable basic accommodation, good value.
Review 12:Rooms were dirty, entrance hall had bad smell, rubbish left outside, window didn't open, someone's old contact lenses left on bedside cabinet, dirty cutlery. In short, avoid.
Review 13:Location was convenient
Review 14:I love the location. Peaceful. It felt like home. The staff member accommodated my request to check in early. Very friendly staff. I stayed in a heritage room. It was a bit old but well maintained. I had a good night sleep. Parking space was also a plus in staying there. I would recommend this to everyone.
Review 15:I didn't have a car, and I was surprised how far away from Hobart this was ($20 taxi ride) and away from restaurants and groceries. But if you have a car, it is OK.
Review 16:Good self-catering supplies--all you need is food.
Review 17:I didn't like that I couldn't stay longer.
Review 18:I loved the apartment and its location I understand I can stay here with my little indoor dog so I will do that some time. The price was very reasonable
Review 19:Excellent value. Spacious, recently renovated room. Kitchen and cooking facilities which we didn't expect; including wine glasses! Bathroom included a retractable washing line which was very useful.
Review 20:Not suitable if you didn't have a car as it was out of town. There was no restaurant or coffee shop and no air conditioning!
Review 21:Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful view.
Review 22:Room barely large enough for the double bed. No space for our bags. Low security, no secure lock on the door or window. The worst part was the noise. The size of the room wasn't important, as my wife and I were out all day and we only needed a place to sleep and shower. The room was at ground level and the door opened to the main drive. Around 10:30p we were in bed and people were walking past the the doors and windows with wheeled bags and talking. Cars would drive by. And sound was loud from other rooms, including the sound of water pipes in the walls. Someone had a 40 min shower. If we'd known, we would have stayed somewhere else. We stayed a second night in Hobart in a different hotel.
Review 23:The room we booked wasn't available. The manager called me and offered us a smaller room at a reduced price.
Review 24:Placed is locked up like fort knox... not sure if bad area or just to control use of facilities but had no security issues.
Review 25:Not far from the city or supermarket. Very clean establishment.
Review 26:Left item in room no response yet. Girl in office on sunday didnt knowwhat we wanted had to ring manager monday morning no reply re item asyet 23/12/2015
Review 27:Location,price
Review 28:Bed was uncomfortable, can hear the people in the next room, Tv setup was fairly ordinary.
Review 29:Cheap accommodation, friendly staff, decent parking and easy to get in and out, sufficient facilities with a pool. Great view of the lake and Mt Wellington.
Review 30:Would have liked access to the kitchen just a little later as I wanted to get ice from the freezer. I guess it pays to find out all the lock out times.
Review 31:Good value if you aren't fussy about an average room. It was fine for us as we were in a good location not too far from central Hobart but we had a hire car and there is parking on site. There is a communal kitchen if you want to cook but it did get locked up so it is not open all night.
Review 32:Could have been cleaner, the windows were very dirty and their was lipstick on one of the mugs from a previous guest.
Review 33:Staff were friendly and was in a good location.
Review 34:Equipment includes microwave & toaster & our favourite-mugs, rather than thick, small cups, in room plus guests' kitchen- excellent if staying longer.Very obliging staff, pleasant views & good position for day trips, by car or bus. Best value anywhere near Hobart CBD.
Review 35:Once checked in arriving to find room to door wide open was odd. Didn't concern me but might be of concern to others.
Review 36:Great location. Close to CBD, 3-5min drive. Quiet street. Free wifi! Onsite free parking! Staff were very friendly, efficient and down to earth. Room was very spacious and modern with own bathroom. Bed was really comfortable (didn't want to get out!) Very good value for money! A swimming pool which I wasn't aware of but was an added bonus.
Review 37:The kitchen is only open until 8pm. Not ideal if you wanna cook something after your sightseeing. Other than this, very good place!
Review 38:Bed was big and Comfy. Very Quiet
Review 39:walls were quiet thin, other guests played loud music well past appropriate times. and no contact for complaints to rectify these circumstances.
Review 40:Clean, modern, great appliances for breakfast. Definitely a good option for self catering (Microwave, fridge toaster, kettle and sink).
Review 41:Location bit far from city, need taxi ($17) or bus ($3.10) to city. Walk to nearest shop and restaurant around 20 mins. If u rent a car this will be no problem.
Review 42:Beautiful view in front of river, bed is comfortably warm (i see like electric blanket on the mattress but could not find the switch, perhaps it was on from central), great value for price.
Review 43:The heritage building looked a bit tired and could do with an outside spruce up. TV aerial inside had problems.
Review 44:Excellent value for money. This was the cheapest I could get in Hobart just before peak holiday time so that was great.
Review 45:Smells every where. We arrived 30mins earlier, so excuses any room to change clothes, bcz we have to be there a kind of the memorial services. The reception said yes so she gave a room not booked, poor conditions. We never had chance to changed to the room that we booked after.i only saw reception when we leave the place. I never intention go back to that place
Review 46:Friendly and helpful reception staff, good location (not right in the heart of the city but close enough to make it easily accessible), very clean small room with everything you need.
Review 47:The two bedroom unit is tiny! Only one bathroom off of the main bedroom/lounge means you disturb the other party to use the bathroom. Overpriced. The double bed in the second bedroom was like a rock! We ended up having to sleep in the two single beds. Would not go back. Receptions staff could not speak English very well.
Review 48:Nothing. Would not go back.
Review 49:We were in Room 25 31 rooms but only 18 car spaces No facilities for cooling - no air-conditioning or fans Wrong size sink plug Pictographic notice on door - not in English Toilet seat will not stay up when men are urinating Mugs are stained Bed-light hangs from wall by a wire Bed wanders around room
Review 50:Nothing
Review 51:a bit noisey with doors being slammed and people walking upstairs.there was no benchspace in the bathroom
Review 52:the room was serviced daily,we stayed in the "heritage cottage"
Review 53:rooms on the ground level were freezing cold because they were motel rooms , it takes about an hour to walk to Hobart city center ( 5km)
Review 54:Rooms on the upper level are nice , nice view from the rooms
Review 55:Have to wait until reception opens in the morning to obtain an invoice for your stay. Traveling for business requires early check-out and reception is not open. Will not print an invoice the night before - very unhelpful.
Review 56:Only a small heater and wooden floors make it very cold.had to close blinds as smoking area was next to my window, not able to lock the window.
Review 57:Location and having microwave and fridge
Review 58:the toilet seat was peeling and looked like it belonged in a public toilet, when we advised staff the blame was put back onto us for not mentioning it when we arrived
Review 59:nice view of the water, good distance to the city
Review 60:The lack of ventilation, to the room as glass received the afternoon sun. The window was old and heavy to use. It Did not feel secure in its operation.
Review 61:The staff were very helpful and polite. The room was small but adequate. The facilities were also up to par with more expensive accommodation.
Review 62:The bed, kitchen and bathroom were clean, but oh the windows.. Thick grime coated both the glass and the window frames - on the inside. It is understandable that the outside of the windows may not get cleaned regularly as they are high up, but the inside was readily accessible, and these windows would not have seen a clean in at least a year, probably more. So the otherwise quite nice view (of a corner of the Derwent) was difficult to see.. The kitchen also had only one glass, and minimal kitchen items - it made us feel like we were viewed as potential thieves. The carpet in the corridor has seen better days, is loose in places and could be dangerous.
Review 63:The receptionist was lovely.
Review 64:Room was falsely advertised on booking.com as a waterfront room. In fact the room was shoebox size overlooking a driveway - no water view unless you exited the room and looked from the door.
Review 65:Comfortable and clean
Review 66:Prices advertised for food and breakfast etc in the book in room were not the right. Prices when we went to reception they were double very disappointing get it right guys
Review 67:nice room and view
Review 68:I have a bad back and requested a ground floor room and was told that we had one. When we arrived, they had put us in an upstairs room. I was not impressed!
Review 69:No negative feedback AT ALL.
Review 70:Our early check-in was easily accommodated for & from start to finish, Peter (manager) was the best of help to us. We highly recommend staying in the Heritage rooms. Thank you so much.
Review 71:Not enough parking spots. Room (I suspect carpet) was a bit pongy-not sure if it was sweat or smoke, could have been both) Reception was disinterested
Review 72:For the price very reasonable. Good location fairly close to Hobart
Review 73:Room was not as clean as you would expect it to be! Bathroom was worse. Not very sound proof - could hear what was going on in the neighbouring rooms majority of the time. Had no access to the free WiFi even though our booking stated we would.
Review 74:Location, easy to find and plenty of parking. Bed was reasonably comfortable. Decent little kitchenette even though we had a tiny, basic room.
Review 75:Cottage rooms rather basic, in need of renovation, wobbly table! Outside patio deck had a hole in the flooring! Didn't need it but swimming pool derelict! Path to cottage quite dangerous down some steps.
Review 76:Very helpful staff, quiet location but close to city, reasonable price, excellent shower, kettle with tea and coffee making facilities, fridge and microwave.
Review 77:There were a few things that could be replaced or fixed. The shower was poorly designed and water went in our room. But i don't believe the owners designed the shower recess, maybe a refurbishment of the building and rooms would increase positive reviews, customer base. I would also encourage a photographer to come through and update all the images on the website and booking.com as they seem outdated and weren't entirely flattering for the site.
Review 78:Staff were lovely, parking sufficient and the view was spectacular. An adorable cat, belonging to the owners, was very comfortable and happy to have a pat and hang out while you had a smoke on the back porch.
Review 79:We booked the heritage studio, however we were not satisfied with this room as it was very noisey, the bathroom was dated and it was cold. We asked to be upgraded.
Review 80:Good location.
Review 81:Had an upstairs cottage suite which wasn't a problem to me but very steep and narrow stairs which could be an issue with people with disabilities or difficulty accessing and wasn't informed prior to arriving, should be in site description
Review 82:room was comfortable and had all I needed, clean and comfy bed and a quiet area no traffic noise
Review 83:I once stayed in the old accomodation out the back and I didn't like that area.its old and needs some work to get it up to the standard of the upstairs accommodation.
Review 84:I have stayed here a few times whilst working in Hobart and the accomodation has all I need when away from home.
Review 85:When we arrived for check in at 2:30 we were given the keys to our room(Heritage Studio). Made our way down into the building only to begreeted by an incredibly foul odour all throughout. Entered the room tofind our room had not been cleaned from previous guests. We received anapology but only 2 out of 3 nights money back, we went to another hotel.
Review 86:Only X1 light bulb in bedside lamps and overall poor lighting. Did not feel safe as no security chain on door and window entirely open to deck area. Uneven flooring and table unstable. No clock radio for alarm and no phone alarm alert faclity. Only x1 extra pillow. TV mounted way too high for comfortable veiwing. Electric heater provided inadequate to heat room due to drafts.
Review 87:Well situated. Price.
Review 88:unhappy receptionist, the room is not user friendly, room wasn't prepared ..( turned back) Nothing plugged in, the electric blanket, the heater, all that mattered. the heating wasnt efficient for the time of the year. Nothing was offered, unless one asked, especially breakfast,. No phone, few power points, shower very small, ( dont try to save water with your friend)
Review 89:the quietness, the cleanliness
Review 90:One night we had noisy patrons - walls are thin. Can imagine at top of tourist season it could be noisy at night, Also car parking was difficult because of limited manoeuvrability.
Review 91:Easy access to bus, shopping etc. staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasant.
Review 92:Heater took a while to warm up the room Otherwise, had a great stay!
Review 93:Helpful staff Tea/coffee facilities + fridge + microwave Good view Not too far from Hobart CBD by car Parking onsite Great value for money
Review 94:would be nice with cleaner windows :)
Review 95:Love the unfussy simplicity of this accommodation. Quiet but close to town. Easy parking and access to rooms (except Studio). Im a regular and stay often as I live out of town. Stay at least once a fortnight. Great value. A home away from home.
Review 96:The heritage cottage was quite cold but they did provide an electric blanket and there was a heater in the room.
Review 97:Modern bathroom and toiletries provided. Free wifi and it had a strong signal. Front reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 98:Room was very cold when we arrived, we did have a plug in heater but took a long time to warm up however saying that it is the middle of winter
Review 99:Comfy bed, great shower, good facilities
Review 100:Room smelled of smoke - apparently a previous tenant smoked in the room and the had tried painting the place but made no difference
Review 101:Good price and location
Review 102:The Heritage Studio apartments were very very old and run down. Bed was most uncomfortable.
Review 103:Very clean. I suppose you only get what you pay for. The other part of the complex, seemed a lot nicer than the attachment we stayed in.
Review 104:Was not given any access to wifi Asked for my room to be made no newsheets Left towels on the floor as requested if I wanted new ones nonew towels were given bed was not comfy n made noises every time Irolled over
Review 105:This is not so much of a complaint but something they can work on. Their WiFi is very slow :/
Review 106:I must say I was a bit skeptical when I booked the place because of the few negative comments I saw. But this place is perfect! It's quiet and yet close to all the necessary places. My friend and I stayed here for 4 nights and it was great! The room was worth every single penny we paid. The staff were very friendly as well
Review 107:it's the 2nd time we chose to stay there and stayed for 7 nights in all this time, found out the Asian lady at check-in lobby often went away for doing something else, sometimes she was away3 times just in half an hour. :(
Review 108:we like their good location, self-catering facilities the most, room is clean. Price is reasonable. We stayed there a week in all, will go there again for next vacation for sure.
Review 109:No facilities and nothing within walking distance (placed in a residential area). Reception did not open until 9am on Sunday and no key drop off facility - had to sms a mobile number to advise key left in room. Noisy location, noisy building and squeaking bed!
Review 110:Checking Out
Review 111:Strong room deodoriser scent gave me bad headache. Couldn't have window open to air due to cold time of year. Parking area cramped and difficult with larger car.
Review 112:Well presented cosy room with great bathroom facilities :)
Review 113:Unable to connect my iPad to WIFI, staff disinclined to help.
Review 114:Value for money, suited my purpose of safe, comfortable stay while my husband was in hospital.
Review 115:Wouldn't reccomend the Heritage Cottage. Brilliant shower, but absolutely ridiculous the positioning of the toilet!! Very poor design. Wish I had brought my own sugar though!!.....there were only about 5 sugar sticks in the provisions!!! Pretty poor!!
Review 116:It was dirty, no TV reception, free wifi didn't reach the room, the room was made up even when requested it not be.
Review 117:Nothing, the best part was checking out
Review 118:We came to tasmania on winter time. We had a heater in the room but doesnt heat up the room only feel warm when your right next to it good thing there was an electric blanket.
Review 119:Close to the city. Staffs very friendly and helpful.
Review 120:Inadequate parking meant my wife and I (both in our 70s) had to walk up and down a hill from the car to the room. Room was 'tatty' with badly chipped basin, a layer of dust under the bed and moth eaten curtains. Staff didn't seem interested
Review 121:Proximity to Hobart. Generally quiet at night
Review 122:Parking very tight.
Review 123:Staff friendly - room needed to be updated. Stoke detected kept going off one night - battery needed to be replaced. This is something that should be regularly checked.
Review 124:Very cold the first night, no electric blanket or spare blanket. Electric blanket placed on bed for subsequent nights, although extra (top) blanket had to be borrowed from friend's room, despite my request to management. No wifi in rooms. Location not convenient for my Convention, but close to other Hobart attractions such as MONA. No sound-proofing, can hear all activity in hall area. Didn't worry me because part of a big group, but hope we didn't disturb others with our coming and going.
Review 125:Cheap
Review 126:Not enough parking, had to park our car in a paddock, that wasn't sucure...room was very cold when we arrived.
Review 127:The staff were friendly, room was clean and tidy.
Review 128:Bed Springy & noisy I nearly tripped walking that far from car to room and nearly tripped on step between bathroom & bed area unable to use shower.unable to step into bath. We will not stop there again if our needs are not met
Review 129:If your a light sleeper take earplugs as you can here some noise through the walls but not enough to worry about.
Review 130:Great set up everything i needed inc microwave and a great bed and shower
Review 131:upstairs narrow steps and noisy when other guests arrive/return at late evening... but lotherwise actually very good!! a bathmat would have been useful as shower water went all over bathroom floor... comfortable, decor very pleasant and comfy bed. Close to city.
Review 132:decor and bedding and bed
Review 133:Dirty microwave missing sheet mouldy tiles very low maintenance level on the building. 3.5 stars in overrated. WiFi needs to be available in the rooms.
Review 134:Staff member was very 'matter of fact', no personality. Room was tiny with space for barely the bed. Parking was only out the front and had to take luggage down steep incline to the room. The bathroom had those refillable canisters for shampoo, conditioner, soap but two of the three were empty. No restaurant or food options onsite. Would not stay there again or recommend.
Review 135:Price.
Review 136:Communal kitchen wasn't up to much and closed quite early. Awkward if you had been out all day. Free wifi only in reception quite far out room and only in office hours.
Review 137:Good location to Hobart and other sites if you have a car. Room was clean and comfortable. Medium fridge and microwave in room with cutlery etc. good facilities for the price. Would stay again.
