Reviews for Hotel Torre Barbara

Review 1:the ultimate views. Super friendly staff - good recommendation and 24x7 availability. Terrace rooms got double doors/windows completely removing the street noises great breakfast

Review 2:It would require you to have a car to get there!

Review 3:It's a boutique hotel, with great atmosphere. The staffs were all very lovely and helpful, the whole checking in and out process was done pretty swiftly! The hotel is located half way up the mountain with great view!

Review 4:Staff were so helpful. The food in the restaurant was great. The pool and subbed area lovely- beautiful views from the entire terrace! The shuttle bus service is so easy to arrange and so helpful! Will definite return and we come back to the Sorrento area. Great breakfast too.

Review 5:The beds were a bit hard - we like to sleep on our sides and found them a bit firm for our liking. All personal preference of course!

Review 6:Very friendly and hugely helpful staff who were always on hand to answer any questions or give us what we needed. Valentina was quick to respond to our emails when we needed help getting from the airport and got us there with no trouble. We liked the elevated position on the cliff top and the awesome views across the water to Vesuvius from most areas around the hotel. The hotel offers a really handy free shuttle bus to get you to town or the station which compensates for the slightly out of town location. Access to Sorrento is easy and takes about 7 mins on the train for a couple of euros. The size (ie not enormous) and quieter location of the hotel along with the really friendly and helpful staff meant we felt well looked after and more than just one of a crowd in a big resort. We felt like we'd made the right choice in staying here and left feeling very relaxed after a few days relaxing by the pool watching the boats go by.

Review 7:Our room was a bit small, but that's the price room we asked for.

Review 8:It was paradise! After crowded Florence, we were able to breathe . . . and just enjoy the beautiful terrace and the view of Vesuvius!Couldn't ask for more accommodating staff. They had a solution to our every need. Dominico! He took us to the train station many times and to town to wash and never a grumble! We loved this place so much that we gave up two days of sightseeing to just sit on the terrace and soak up the atmosphere!

Review 9:The hotel was hard to find without a visible sign board. Getting into the car park is quite the challenge. The door would make a loud buzz when unlocking which is annoying when your neighbors come in late at night. Wifi was painfully slow.

Review 10:Beds were comfortable and location was great.

Review 11:No bad experiences but hadn't quite appreciated how close it was to the main coastal road. Not being able to get out of the hotel to walk was a bit of a hindrance to us.

Review 12:Loved the views and the restaurant food was very good. The hotel shuttle to the town and station was invaluable and driver very helpful.

Review 13:Old furniture in the room. No place to hang beachwear and towels. The breakfast selection was very limited, which I found disappointing for a nice hotel like this one.

Review 14:The location is good for those who want to stay out of town center - for same reason it is easy to get on the road when going on road trips. The view from the terrace is amazing. The room was equipped with it's own router so WLAN was very strong.

Review 15:Very small suggestions- the breakfast is a bit repetitive so if you're staying longer it might get boring. It would also be nice if the balconies had a clothes line because towels and bathing suits don't get dry in the room.

Review 16:The location is fantastic- close to the Circumvesuviana train (Seiano station), to the beaches of Vico Equense and the views of mount Vesuvius from the beautiful garden with a pool are hard to beat. The biggest asset of this hotel, however, is its staff- Rafaella, Valentina, Angela, Domenico and the others are amazingly helpful with everything, from advice on nearby restaurants and beaches to organizing day trips and making you feel at home! We would definitely be back!

Review 17:Staff were brilliant, very helpful and spoke good English. Free shuttle service to and from local stations. Food was excellent Rooms are spacious and very clean with Satellite TV and a well stock mini bar. Fantastic view of Vesuvius from the hotel balcony.

Review 18:The speed of the wifi could be improved - far too slow. Given the location of the villa near a busy traffic road, the house could be improved with acoustic glass in the windows.

Review 19:Location and villa.

Review 20:Although booked quite late and the only room available was basement with no view (not what I'd normally book) it was a great room and very comfortable.

Review 21:Breakfast view was amazing.

Review 22:Very difficult to find if you are driving. If you caught the train it is not a pleasant hike up the hill to the hotel. It is about a 20 min walk up hill and amongst traffic. The pool is very small and deceiving in the pictures. The cocktails were not very good.

Review 23:This was a lovely hotel for transit only. The room was clean and had air conditioning. As it is out of town they provide a free shuttle to and from Vico Esquence and the train station to get to sorrento, which is only 10mins away on the train. There is a lovely view from the terrace.

Review 24:amazing views from top floor room with balcony, great friendly staff. easy transfer into sorrento using regular train takes about 10 mins, dont risk driving as the italians drive like lunatics!

Review 25:Internet muy lenta, haría falta alguna facilidad para secar ropa de playa en los patios internos de las habitaciones.

Review 26:Limpieza, amabilidad de los funcionarios, piscina en el jardín con vista al Vesuvio

Review 27:It was nice hotel offered shuttle service to train station but very confusing when we first arrived to be told to book bus to get train im to Sorrento. Hotel was clean, fairly comfortable and quite nice but just too far to get in/out of Sorrento. Breakfast was ok. Staff were trying to be very nice & professional but just didn't feel like good service. Our first night there was lots of noise in halls about 1am & we told them of this but they didn't seem too phased. The actual hotel is nice, rooms basic but ok, beautiful view from restaurant terrace. Would recommend booking in Sorrento

Review 28:Slow wifi, noise from road going right in front of hotel even attending the rooms towards the rear of the building, away from the road.

Review 29:Very friendly employees at reception desk with great language skills (French, English). Good parking facilities. Beautiful views from garden restaurant.

Review 30:Hotel situated on busy costal road - very noisy from front of property. Access awkward to negotiate. Although room spacious bathroom was fairly cramped and dated - needs refurbishing.

Review 31:Beautiful views.

Review 32:They should consider changing breakfast menu over the week

Review 33:Great view of bay of Naples and Vesuvius from well equipped and clean room. Accommodating and friendly staff with good shuttle service.

Review 34:There were not hot drink facilities in the rooms. The dinner menu was a little limited but non the less still good.

Review 35:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean and comfortable and well maintained. Breakfast was very good with a lot of sweet and savory selections. Good location with transport links and excellent shuttle service from the hotel.

Review 36:The road in front of the hotel is busy, so you get traffic noise when you open the window. It's quiet if you keep the window closed and use A/C. It's also quite difficult coming and going with a car, because of the narrow, steep driveway and the busy road.

Review 37:Staff were very friendly, especially the front desk manager who greeted us when we checked in. She was a consummate professional, and very friendly—made a great first impression. The room was comfortable, modern and clean, and had a stunning view across the Bay of Naples to Mount Vesuvius. Breakfast on the terrace (again with a view of Vesuvius) was a wonderful experience, with little touches like homemade jams and yoghurt raising it above the level of the usual hotel buffet.

Review 38:Road noise. Need taxi to eat out of hotel. Hotel food good at breakfast but let down by evening meal.

Review 39:Staff excellent. Outlook over Bay of Naples stunning.

Review 40:I would have preferred to be in Sorrento itself and to be able to walk down to the sea. Would have liked a room with a balcony. Otherwise there was nothing we didn't like.

Review 41:The hotel was perched high on a hill overlooking the sea. Meals were taken on the terrace in a charming garden with beautiful sea views and both breakfast and evening meals were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was good. The room was clean and well equipped with a small fridge/mini bar. There was a free shuttle service to the station to catch a train to and from Sorrento which was just a couple of stops away.

Review 42:The hotel was not near any other local points of interest. You had to take a bus or drive if you wanted to try a different restaurant or sight see.

Review 43:The terrace view, Bay of Naples and MT. Vesuvius was fantastic. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 44:Situated on a busy road, so ask for a quiet room!

Review 45:This small hotel was perfect for a relaxing break. Staff were really excellent - very friendly and helpful. The free shuttle bus to local station, etc was a true benefit. Restaurant and pool area very good.

Review 46:We didn't know about the shuttle from nearest train station, so walked a long way to get there.. would be good if they let you know by email or something? Food at restaurant at night, overpriced and not that great.. breakfast is amazing though!

Review 47:awesome views and beautiful staff who we very helpful.. had an amazing stay!

Review 48:Nothing, couldn't find fault with hotel or the staff.

Review 49:The hotel is a converted tower. Conversion is to a very high standard, blending original features with modern conveniences. The work is to a very high standard with very comfortable, pleasant rooms with A/C and double glazing. Lovely dining terrace overlooking the Bay of Naples with uninterrupted views of Naples and Vesuvius for dinner and breakfast. Sorrento is close-by, though I'm glad we stayed here. Sorrento was not to our liking. The staff - Gabriella, Luisa and team were fantastic, helpful with ideas for trips and handy with train tickets on sale at reception. Free hotel transfer bus takes you to the nearby railway station and a phone call gets Michelle back to pick you up, at 30 minutes notice. Easy train journeys to get to Sorrento or Pompeii / Herculaneum. Restaurant food was excellent if you don't want to go any further of an evening. Good, varied menu and wine list. Dining Service by Gianluca was great - he was always pleasant and friendly. Breakfast also on the terrace - good selection of pastries etc. - typical continental style. Lena kept the breakfast show running smoothly. I really cannot fault this hotel, in any respect. If I go back to that part of Italy I would not hesitate to book in here again.

Review 50:We were however unpleasantly surprised with the rooms, pictures on the website are very deceiving, the bathroom is very old, and the tiles of the shower were black so we kept our slippers to take our shower, there was hair everywhere, serious effort should be made to renovate the bedrooms, but most importantly clean better!

Review 51:We loved the location, we were visiting the Amalfi Coast, we had a car (which is a must if you want to stay in this hotel) so we used to leave early every morning and visit a different town every day. The breakfast lady (Lena, I think) was really nice and helpful (Staff in general were nice). The view on the terrace is just amazing.

Review 52:Plastic cups instead of proper glasses for the mini bar.

Review 53:Spectacular views of the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius together with expert and friendly staff made our stay a magical one.

Review 54:Nothing. The Booking .com site needs to clarify the location of the Hotel. We took the train to Vico Equenese, the Hotel is in Seiano di Vico Equense. There was some confusion in us finding the Hotel.... and later the Hotel finding us.

Review 55:Everything!

Review 56:Little bit remote, so not really ideal to have a walk with the kids

Review 57:Great view over The Naples bay and Vesuvius. Lovely breakfast buffet and a possibility to have a nice evening dinner. Good travel distance to for example Pompeii. A place which gave the entire familie the right holiday vibes!

Review 58:Only complaint was that the A/C in the room didn't get as cool as this guy likes but keep in mind that my wife walks around the house in sweats during the summer because I like it cool.

Review 59:Location was very cool. Overlooking the Bay of Naples and MT. Vesuvius from our balcony was amazing! Room was a bit tight but we hardly spent any time in it so it served our purposes very well. Comfortable bed and shower, what this American needed! Staff was great as was the dinners we had here. Some folks griped about being close to the noisy road yet my wife and I loved it! The drivers in Italy are NUTS and watching girls and guys on scooters passing not only cars BUT buses on a 2 land road was a sport my wife and I really enjoyed watching!! The hotel was very well maintained and just felt very warm and inviting. Beautiful hotel, beautiful people, beautiful views. We'll be back for sure.

Review 60:The Rooms were on a loud street. The food was not that good. Breakfast was okay

Review 61:Staff was friendly, Housekeeping did a very good job with our rooms

Review 62:Staff extraordinary,view simply great

Review 63:Nice and friendly, slightly less modern, excellent locations for different directions

Review 64:Location nothing much close by limited choice on menu

Review 65:The view the room was nice , breakfast was good

Review 66:There was no sound on the television.

Review 67:Great breakfast with a wonderful view.

Review 68:The rooms in the 1st store have no windows outside.

Review 69:Free shutlles to Seyano train and Vico Equense port

Review 70:Excellent location and staff very kindly!!

Review 71:location; view; staff very helpful and friendly

Review 72:Menu very limited .. costly..

Review 73:Nice staff .. location.

Review 88:Out of season breakfast is poor.

Review 89:Clean hotel

Review 90:Excellent location, great free parking on site. Lovely surroundings. Very helpful staff. The breakfast was especially good.

Review 91:Beautiful view Great terrace to enjoy a wonderful Breakfast.

Review 92:Near main road , to far to walk any where

Review 93:Views

Review 94:some of the rooms are too small...

Review 95:The terace, it's decoration, position and view on Vesuv vulcano was amaizing.....

Review 96:Noise from road through day

Review 97:Staff lovely and helpful. Grounds and terrace very nice. Great views. Food very good.

Review 98:The entrance if driving takes a bit of getting used to

Review 99:Great staff, fab view. Like staying in a private club..would love to return.

Review 100:Value for Money almost alright Very limited beach(es) access Pool (Pond)

Review 101:Breakfast! Parking Room Location

Review 102:Very friendly staff, nice hotel rooms, good breakfast, clean, everyone very helpful, good parking.

Review 103:Everything was realy good. I cant say anything negative.Staff was very polite room big and comfortable cleanliness excelent.

Review 104:Stairs to loft, no place to put luggage except the floor.

Review 105:The sea view from the room and also the terrace was really wonderful! Everything about this place is perfect if you have transportation. Without it, there is some difficulty getting around. They do have a shuttle, but only certain hours.

Review 106:Shuttle bus is supposed to be waiting at Seiano station if you call 30 mins in advance. We did this but it was never there to greet us and we always had to call again once we reached Seiano. Cost of calls, inconvenience of waiting up to 40 minutes (with an upset baby after a long day out) & not enough traffic or distance from hotel to justify the delay. No apologies from Micheli the driver or Valentina at reception for the delay, only excuses.Customer service was inconsistent. Raffaella was professional as was the lady at breakfast bar & Gianluca at bar/restaurant. Micheli the driver and Valentina at reception came with alot of attitude.Worst lunch ever on our arrival and Valentina tried to pass off uncooked canelloni as al dente and hard rice in risotto as normal. We've had our share of canelloni and risottos and these were not cooked. No apology or compensation offered. We spent 30€ on this very disappointing food. If they can't provide food at lunch, they should say so.Food in evening was better but the wait was long.Rooms were clean but very basic.Staff were helpful regarding qs about the region but not super helpful. The hop on hop off bus along the amalfi coast from sorrento train station was something we found ourselves but it would have been great for staff to recommend this. They only told us the local bus service would not be suitable for kids.I had asked about organising the currerei bus to the airport in an email at time of booking. Rather than organise this in advance, we were left not knowing whether we'd get it as the day before our departure was a public holiday and the reception couldn't organise the bus. They could have anticipated this and organised the bus earlier. We did get it but not knowing was stressful. We just think that with more attention to detail and apologies rather than excuses or justifications for mistakes, bad service, delays & poor quality food, this place could be alot better.

Review 107:Stunning view of Vesuvius from terrace. Breakfast buffet 7:30-10:30 was good and the lady in charge of the buffet (Lena) was friendly and efficient. Far from touristy Sorrento. Pompeii close by. Close enough to Sorrento to enable Hop On Hop Off Bus Sorrento-Positano-Amalfi tour. Currerei Bus to/from Naples Airport costs 10€ pp and stops outside hotel if you order in advance with reception. Food at hotel restaurant ok. Raffaella (reception) and Gianluca (restaurant) were professional, efficient and friendly.

Review 108:room was a little bit small.

Review 109:it was all perfect, parking, breakfast, close to all interesting places.free shuttle and very friendly staff. rooms cleaned every day.

Review 110:location is far from any shops cafes or metro/bus stations, no beach access, tinny pool, having a car is a plus.

Review 111:amazing view for sea side from up hill, clean hotel with character, nice comfortable quiet rooms, spacious terrace, very relaxing, shuttle service to metro station.

Review 112:loved everything, wish i stayed longer, if your looking for a place slightly off the beaten path, this is it

Review 113:sits right on the side of a cliff, with amazing views of naples and sorrento, the photos do not do the place justice. staff were very friendly and spoke fluent english, highly recomend this place if you are looking to relax

Review 114:The only thing that we dis not like was the difficult entrance to parking at the hotel when arriving from Vico Equense. But, we learned how to maneuver the 7-passanger van after 1-2 tries.

Review 115:Hotel staff members were really great; friendly and great service. I also liked the location; close to a number of great sites to visit (e.g., Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri, Positano, Mt. Vesuvius), yet it has an atmosphere of relaxation and privacy. They had a great room for 4 (2 parents and two kids ages 9 and 11) and a nice room for the grandparents. Really a great vacation and we loved the hotel!

Review 116:The staff were excellent, our room was very comfortable and the restaurant in the grounds was ideal. the view was beautiful and if I was lucky enough to be staying again.. I would pay the extra for a sea-view room.

Review 117:There was only one outlet in the room that could be used for charging electronic gear, but this was just a minor inconvenience.

Review 118:This is a beautiful hotel with a spectacular view of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. We were driving and it was a bit tricky finding the place and getting into the parking lot, but, once there, it was fine. Our room had a balcony overhanging the heavily-traveled road, and noise was not a problem. There is a lovely outdoor terrace with a sitting area, a bar, and a magnificent view. We utilized the free shuttle service to get into town for dinner. Staff could not have been nicer. All in all, we loved this place. We only spent a night here, but this is definitely a place we would consider for an extended stay.

Review 119:Clean, modern, located right in the center of the town, beautifully designed, very friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast and beautiful breakfast area

Review 120:Not walking distance to anything; driveway a little difficult to maneuver in the rain; breakfast and coffee left a lot to be desired.

Review 121:They had a terrific dinner menu and fabulous view from the restaurant/deck; driver, Dominico, was great and a necessity.

Review 122:All meals breakfast and evening dinner are served on the open terrace, when we arrived it had been raining all day and all though the staff put heaters on around the tables it was still cold to eat a meal in comfort, after our first day the weather changed and eating breakfast on the terrace was a pleasant experience especially with the view and location. The hotel offered a resident menu for the evening but with limited choice at 25euros pp, a'lacarte meals in our opinion were very expensive, with the lowest price bottle of wine costing 23euros, if money is no object then this hotel would appeal to those who can afford to eat and drink at these prices, we preferred to use the courtesy bus and catch the train and eat in Sorrento where there are numerous restaurants to chose from with a variety of prices to suit all pockets.

Review 123:The hotel has an excellent position with fabulous views of Versuvius and the bay of Naples - hotel staff where very helpfully, and had a courtesy bus to be dropped off at the nearby train station 6 minutes from the hotel which runs from Naples to Sorrento, with Pompei along the route.

Review 124:Room, it was kind in the basement. Mobile phones didn't work due tomissing signal. Window was kind of hopper light.. Bathroom was dark

Review 125:Location, facility, view

Review 126:Breakfast was horrible -- leftovers day after day, nothing was fresh. The "wireless" was slow and intermittent, not available in rooms, onlyethernet connections to laptops. They also did not tell us aboutanything available when we checked in -- dinner, driver, beach towels, hours for breakfast, etc.

Review 127:The views, dinner, the shuttle driver Dominico and the rooms.

Review 128:Location.......departed early so as to be in Sorrento. It may have been on oversight on my part, but when booking this room, I truly thought it was located in Sorrento.

Review 129:Cleanliness and comfort, as well as the restaurant.

Review 130:Fantastic stay at the Torre Barbara! It's a great small boutique hotel with lovely staff, clean rooms, great view and the building has been restored in a fabulous manner. Rosa on reception and Dominicio are 2 of the best staff I have ever come across in a hotel.

Review 131:Traditional style Merchant House that has been fully renovated to a good standard. Stunning views from the terrace over the Gulf of Naples and directly overlooks Mt. Vesuvius. Super sunsets. Highly recommended.

Review 132:The hotel was located far away from the trainstation, and you cannot walk to the station because of the trafic on the road and missing pavement. The restaurant was very expensive and you can only have one cup of espresso in the morning unless you want to pay for the next one. The hotel have to change that policy.

Review 133:The girls in the reception are very smiling, helpfull and serviceminded. Domingo the driver of the free shuttle to the trainstation was very good. The restaurant had a beautiful view over the bay of Napoli.
