Reviews for Coral Tree Inn
Review 1:I thought was a king size bed but was 2 single bed. I would like to take chocolate for the breakfast cause I'm French but I can't ...
Review 2:Comfortable room
Review 3:I had 3 rooms booked 2doubles which were on the 2rd floor the 3rd room was for 5 people 3 of which we're young children this room was on the 3rd floor and there is no lift. This was a pain with the buggy and getting all the bags up and down the stairs.
Review 4:Good location only 5 min walk to town and under 10 mins to the beach. All 3 room we're clean and spacious Kids liked the pool and liked the fact there was a waterfall into the pool.
Review 5:We were lucky to be given a room upgrade at no extra cost when we checked in. The room was at the rear of the hotel so was quiet. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast (not included in room rate) was handy so we didn't have to do our own thing or find somewhere to eat each morning.
Review 6:Tiled hallways mean that slamming doors, guests / luggage moving around were very audible in the room.
Review 7:Very comfortable & reasonably modern room appointments for the price. Bathrooms were spotless. Staff member Indu really made our stay pleasant & friendly, she is a credit to the hotel's continued success.
Review 8:Whilst overall the hotel was clean and well presented the room would have benefitted from freshening with new paintwork, which was a little tired.
Review 9:The hotel was well located, close to restaurants and the harbour. The staff were very friendly and always had a smile for you. The facilities were good given the reasonable price. The room was well equipped with coffee and tea making facilities, hairdryer etc.
Review 10:About a 10 minute walk from the main Esplanade. Wish breakfast was free or cheaper (can't comment on quality as we didn't actually eat it due to price) WiFi was okay but could be better, due to speed/ frequently logged you out. 3GB allowance was ample however.
Review 11:Price you pay is more than worth it. Good clean tidy rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool and outdoor BBQ area are very clean. Decent TV. Beds comfy and hotel quiet. Fridge and kettle in room was useful.
Review 12:Ants, spiders & baby cockroach running in room. Paying total bill up front when I stated I would pay cash on checkout. No face washers in bathroom.
Review 13:Service at front desk
Review 14:Needs a lift. Was a struggle to get our heavy bags up the stairs.
Review 15:Location was great. Staff were very nice and helpful. Rooms were nice and comfortable.
Review 16:They were too popular and we couldnt extend our stay in the same room :)
Review 17:Decent price, nice enough rooms, decent pool area, close to the center, in the few interactions we had with the staff they were very nice.
Review 18:No staff on during night time.had to ask some guests to quieten down in pool area at 11.30pm.Bus pulled up down from our room VERY early, hardly slept, because motor was kept on as it waited.
Review 19:It was close to airport
Review 20:Few ants in the basin, the property is a little but old need refurbished
Review 21:Great location, short walk to any shops or cafe, friendly receptionist, nice and clean
Review 22:Here's the thing...compares to hotels in othe parts of the country, this is no where near worth the money. Cairns is incredibly expensive at all properties, which is a shame. So here you are paying for a premium hotel and getting an average...nice enough...but average hotel/motel. The place was nice for what it was, but not for the price (even though the price was the best we could find in Cairns for somewhere that wasn't a youth hostel with shares dorms and bathrooms). The other negative is small but I think important. The wifi is advertised as free, and it IS.they had no hesitation in providing us the free wifi...and for a hotel wifi it worked fine, not perfect but fine. The problem is that it is limited to 500mb per day and they DO NOT tell you this or list this anywhere. Maybe this was an isolated incident with us, but when we got our username and password from reception, they didn't mention a thing about a camp the login page doesn't mention a thing either, nor the slips of paper that they give you that have your login details on it. I had a lot of study to do while I was there and as a result, on about the 3rd day we found ourselves disconnected and had no idea why. When we asked reception, they seemed annoyed at us for not knowing that it was capped and sort of told us off for using so much...This was pretty unpleasant and such a shame, because for the most part the staff were so friendly and great.I understand that hotels might need to cap their Internet, but I don't think they should be allowed to try and charge you for a top up when they never told you it was capped in the first place. They should let you know when you grt the login details, or at least print it in the services guide in each room. Tbh, I think they should be required to list it on their booking.com (and other) listing...as you could really claim free wifi and then only provide enough to load the Google homepage...and then charge guests...aka not really free.
Review 23:The property is modest but has everything you need. BBQ facilities were a nice touch that I remember from hotels when I was kid..you don't get these much these days. It's a nice easy walk to cairns, there was free direct parking for our rental car, the wifi did the job. The rooms were nothing special but were nice enough, had a fridge to keep our own food etc. and were kept clean. Nice little balcony looking over the palm trees and pool, too. The waterfall at the pool was very peaceful too. The staff at the counter were friendly and always said hello.
Review 24:The receptionist in the evening was rude almost all evenings that we had to ask something to her. The spare bed that we asked for was uncomfortable. It wasn't really a bed, it was a roll-away. To sleep 5 days was almost impossible. There is no reception from 9:30pm so people can come and go. In de middle of the night some people came in laughing, screaming, making a noise for at least 1hour and there wasn't a person to shut up their mouth. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. You can find a hotel same price as this one or even cheaper close to the center. If you wish not to sleep and have no problem with people coming and leaving without any safety, this will be the place to stay. It is not a RESORT, they don't really know how resort looks like.
Review 25:The location was good, 10 minutes to downtown.
Review 26:Hubby complained about slowness of internet in room.
Review 27:Liked internet and refrigerator availability. Happened to end up in a handicap room and loved the shower.
Review 28:Very disappointed on return to be given a room overlooking the street. Room was noisy and couldn't use the balcony.
Review 29:On first dtay hsd lovely room overlooking swimming pool.
Review 30:Great Location, very clean, good value for money and had free upgrade of small room to a studio on a arrival , friendly staff. Overall I defiantly stay here again
Review 31:A little basic furniture, air con was noisy & our balcony only just fitting the two of us on it- other rooms had bigger ones
Review 32:The location was great, the pool which was rarely used was great for the little one. BBQ in the garden to use, luggage storage, staff very helpful, rooms well equipped
Review 33:air conditioner is so loud. the wall seems invisible. we can hear all movements next door and the open and close of the door outside.
Review 34:there is a swimming pool.
Review 35:Did not concern me personally but would be a bit tricky to have to take the stairs up to level 3 with luggage as hotel hasn't got a lift.
Review 36:Size of room, lounge room a small kitchen
Review 37:We were in a second floor room and had to lug our bags up two flights of stairs. I got the impression there was no elevator but I'm unsure. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the town center. The area around the hotel was very dark, so returning late in the evening was a little dicey, particularly after our cab driver from the airport commented on the "muggings" in Cairns. Not sure how true that is, but either way, we would have preferred a streetlamp or two.
Review 38:The room was clean and decently appointed. There was free coffee and tea and a small fridge. Staff was friendly and generally helpful. We were able to store bags for several days while we went on a dive trip. If you are planning on doing this, be advised the bag storage room is near the lobby and is not locked or monitored. We had no problems with our luggage, but you may want to consider this if you plan to store anything of value. We were only there one night and did not take advantage of the pool or outdoor grill and picnic area, but both looked nice. Overall, we were pleased with our stay.
Review 39:$50 holding deposit when you pay upfront for room . No Foxtel and the pool was cold they should have solar heating I only saw us swimming in it over three days we only went in once
Review 40:The location and the gardens and the big tv and free wifi . Rooms were a nice size too
Review 41:bar fridge in the room is tiny so don't take a lot of cold food. You have to be quick if you want off street parking. (There are 6). Beds are really firm.
Review 42:Great location, staff very friendly, nice pool/bbq areas. Was a good spot to stay on a budget.
Review 43:The entire accommodation area has tiled floors which results in a lot of noise from other guests using wheeled suitcases especially late night arrivals of which there seemed to be many.
Review 44:the parking was not off street. We had to park in the street. There was no option for ground floor, with no lift my husband had difficulty with the stairs at the end of our day.
Review 45:walking distance to town, but not too close. No noise was fantastic
Review 46:Noisy doors. Banging And resounding along the corridors late at night and early in the mornings ( presumably people catching early flights!) perhaps a shock absorber on the doors would help?
Review 47:Perfect for our stay. Lovely little balcony. While we didn't use either ( due to lack of time) there was a lovely BBQ and pool area which was well utilized. Cheerful helpful staff.
Review 48:Could do better to upkeep of electric items kept in the room
Review 49:Walking distance to the Tourist Agents catering to visit to Great Barrier Reef Near to Restaurants Near to Departmental Stores
Review 50:The wifi was a little slow and couldn't connect on my phone.
Review 51:We arrived earlier than check-in, but the staff were very helpful in assisting us with our luggage into storage until we could check-in. We found we had been upgraded and our room was very nice. Beds were comfortable, bathroom clean and kitchenette well-equiped. The property itself has bbq facilities outside and a courtyard seating area. The pool is clean and has a few sun loungers around it. We did not have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on this. For us, the hotel was in a good location, about 10 minutes from the Esplanade where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. Overall, we found our stay very pleasant here.
Review 52:Hmm, perhaps the close proximity of all the rooms..sounds seem to be amplified at corridor. If ppl talk or close their door, can be heard loudly.
Review 53:Love that it had all the practical amenities such as a ba area with the necessary items to cook with (oil, sauces, foil). Bed was comfy and large. Chef was great, real friendly and a delight to start a conversation with. Peaceful, safe location
Review 54:cant thinmk of anything
Review 55:good location, approx 10min walk to town centre,15min to sea front.very helpful & friendly staff, they even sorted out & booked our trip to the barrier reef
Review 56:Noisy, awoken early by doors closing, people moving objects on tiled floors. Unable to open screen door to access balcony as we were in room at rear of building and it was deemed unsafe to do so.
Review 57:Staff were extremely helpful
Review 58:Helpfulness of staff. They guided us to a restaurant, arranged for a taxi early in the morning & noted and acted upon our request for minimum steps.
Review 59:Internet was slow, hot water ran out if we showered after 5pm, room was quite small: the photos suggest they are bigger than they really are.
Review 60:Staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 61:Wifi was very poor in room, to get a good signal you had to be near reception. We could not get access to the balcony as 'work was being done' tho never saw anyone doing anything. There were no facilities for smoking, you had to go out on to the street.
Review 62:Room clean and location
Review 63:A telephone call the morning of our arrival to say they had maintenance problems with our room. They offered an upgrade to Novatel Oasis Resort and free breakfast. We were impressed until after altering our bus transfer and on arrival at the Novatel, no room and no booking. Eventually after waiting for over an hour we were sent back to the original hotel where a very inferior room was provided, with twin beds, we had asked for a double and no real facilities. We were eventually given our money back and breakfast provided but it ruined the last night of our holiday....
Review 64:good value for money and excellent staff at the reception, especially Ms Indu who was super-friendly and helpful. Room was fairly old but in good condition-clean and spacious.
Review 65:No lift and minimal kitchen utensils . Doors make a loud noise when closing .
Review 66:Very attentive staff across the board . Received an upgrade to a larger better room . Nice swimming pool .
Review 67:More BBQ facilities would be nice; toaster or microwave would be handy
Review 68:Very helpful and friendly reception staff (particularly Indu); well kept and clean pool and BBQ area; laundry facilities; huge tv; free parking on the street
Review 69:Very hard pillow, but fortunately found the softer one ... Not enough room to keep clothes.very comfortable and relaxing
Review 70:Very good position and lovely staff, especially !the girl Indo ! Quiet at night !
Review 71:There were some tiny ants that got into the room through the balcony door. They weren't necessarily all over the place but some were visibly crawling around near the balcony door.
Review 72:The staff were very friendly. One in particular, Inda Gupta, gave us a lot of helpful information about the area and was very friendly every time we saw her. Free wifi was also very good. Not slow at all.
Review 73:Big heavy fire doors on each room were noisy/banged shut. Plumbing was also noisy so pipes whined when other rooms showered/toileted. Confusion at reception over $50 security fee on credit card. Japanese reception guy couldn't explain himself. Single beds pushed together to form double were uncomfortable.
Review 74:Location was handy.
Review 75:we had the full breakfast each day as we were taking day trips and needed to eat beforehand. the only eggs were scrambled and consistently cold in the bain marie, even tho we were often to first to dine. Otherwise the meal was fine.
Review 76:very convenient; helpful staff; very good value for money
Review 77:Bed was very uncomfortable. There is no noise insulation - you hear every door shut and all of the people coming and going at odd hours. I never got a full night's sleep.
Review 78:we had several problems with the lights in our room during our stay which were not always sorted. room décor was Spartan and furnishings basic. pool area needed attention.
Review 79:it wasn't too far from the esplanade and we were given a free upgrade on arrival. free parking was available which was a bonus. room cleaned every day to a good standard and air-con was good.
Review 80:1. Weak Wifi signal in the room 2. Room facilities not suitable for comfort stay 3. Access to central area
Review 81:1. Staff at the reception is very kind and supportive 2. Baggage keeping before/after staying 3. Breakfast is good
Review 82:We were unable to use the wifi provided by the Hotel. One of the staff even asked us to call the service provider ourselves. However in making phone call, we were required to pay the phone call service which was ridiculous and nonsense.
Review 83:Beds too firm/ hard. Off street parking, although it wasn't metered.
Review 84:Staff very good/ helpful. facilities like pool and BBQ cabana good. easy walking distance to esplanade.
Review 85:We found nothing to dislike about this hotel.
Review 86:Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. The room was well-equipped and had peaceful outlook onto pool. Easy free parking. For short stays this hotel was ideal.
Review 87:air con was a little noisy, but as it was winter, we just switched it off when we are sleeping
Review 88:Staff are all very helpful, room was clean and good size.
Review 89:one reception staff is good(i think he is Janpanese),except him, othet staff are bad! I just request a toothpate, the staff like take a lesson to me...the quilt was low qulity that made us not comfortable, and we found a black beetle in toilet
Review 90:fair price
Review 91:Kleine koelkast. Parking op straat (is wel gratis en er is plaats). Internet is niet altijd goed bruikbaar. Ligging 25' van Esplanade.
Review 92:Zeer vriendelijke ontvangst met goede info en hulp bij boeken cruise. Groot bed, grote TV.
Review 93:The plumbing was noisy, knew when everyone in surrounding units were showering.
Review 94:The staff were outstandingly friendly & helpful. The location was convenient, within walking distance to the city & harbor.
Review 95:The breakfast wasnt very good, def not worth 20 bucks.
Review 96:It is a good place to stay while in Cairns, very clean, quite a big room. It has all the essentials, and a lot of spaces where you can park your rental car. The pool was nice and clean and there were outdoor bbqs where you could make your dinner if you didnt want to go out.
Review 97:There was considerable noise from people arriving or leaving during the night. The curtains did not block out the light so a sleep on was not possible.
Review 98:The staff were very friendly.
Review 99:Our room was above the entrance of the Hotel on Grafton Street. Every morning the laundry truck turned up about 7am and loaded his truck. Was very noisy and not conducive to a sleep in while on holidays. I would ask for a room over the courtyard if we stayed again.
Review 100:Close to the City Centre, room cleaned every day perfectly with coffee and milk topped up, friendly staff, comfortable room.
Review 101:Being woken up 1st Night at 3.30AM with a large tour group leaving premises. Being woken up at 5.30AM with another tour group leaving. Very difficult to have a good nights sleep.
Review 102:Location was close to Esplanade and Town
Review 103:noise is awfull bedroom door slam shut which echoes everywhere. i wanted a doub;e bed ended up withtwo singles together they say its a king
Review 104:location
Review 105:Got a room upgrade, that was nice Family room with microwave was really good Bed was much more comfortable Staff were great, very nice, friendly and helpful
Review 106:The wifi in the room was a bit challenging but once in the lobby, no issues.
Review 107:What makes this hotel stand out is the excellent hotel staff. Upon early arrival the manager offered to hold our luggage and provided us with a map of the town. In the afternoon Indu greeted us, made us feel most welcomed and helped us up the stairs with luggage. Her hospitality skills are impressive. The hotel is in easy walking distance of the downtown esplanade, marina, restaurants and night market.
Review 108:We only stayed one night, but the room was nice, we had a balcony overlooking the pool. Breakfast was good. Lady on reception was extremely helpful booking our tickets for the Cairns Night Zoo (highly recommend this) as soon as we arrived.
Review 109:I had a first floor room however there was no lift. However the staff were very helpful and assisted with bringing my cases to and from the room
Review 110:A short walk to town centre and quiet location. Nice pool and staff were wonderful
Review 111:- we requested that reception book us a taxi to go to the airport for an early flight, which they confirmed that they had. The taxi didn't arrive, and when I called the taxi firm, they claimed to have had no booking. Although it was before reception opened at 0530am, there was a receptionist in the hotel. He said he would call the taxi firm to chase, but requested my wife stay outside, locked the door and we never saw him again. Luckily I had the taxi firm number to be able to book. Could have been a missed flight.... - shower was a bit of a nightmare - water going all over the bathroom floor. Need to invest in some decent shower curtains. - wifi really wasn't enough in the room, considering it is advertised as 'all areas'. We got the best connection in the bathroom, and none in the bedroom. - bit of an infestation of tiny, tiny little creatures in the bathroom - phone in room didn't work, so I wasn't able to call reception (had to go down in person) Overall, considering the cost, would I stay here again? No. I'd rather pay an extra 5 bucks a night a go elsewhere. Which is a shame, because this place could be so much better with a few tweaks.
Review 112:Not a bad location - 10 min walk / 15 min stroll to the 'centre'. There is also a pool in the complex, which although we didn't use, is a 'good to have'.
Review 113:Acoustics.......noise travels easily. Hotel management are aware of this. Most guests find this out quickly and comply with low noise levels.
Review 114:Friendly staff, great location and all facilities for a hotel of this style and location are available.
Review 115:no 24 hour reception so check had to be before 9 which would be an issue if taking a later flight
Review 116:good sized clean room, decent amount of free wifi available, 15 min walk to pier check in for the great barrier reef, good air con in room
Review 117:No bad experience.
Review 118:Our stay was for three nights only. It was to give us the opportunity to see Cairns and we did a day trip to the Barrier Reef. Staff at the Hotel were very friendly and helpful.
Review 119:Not as central as I thought for walking back in the evening but taxi doesn't cost more than £5 from town. Loud doors and residents - this seems to be v popular with Chinese trips and there was one particularly noisy mass early morning departure with lots of talking in the corridors and door slamming.
Review 120:Good base for easy walk to reef terminal and boats. Really nice reception staff.
Review 121:The lovely staff were very helpful. Not too far from the airport, the esplanade, or shopping area. For the price we thought it was great, especially the staff, they do deserve to be mentioned twice.
Review 122:Really helpful and friendly staff - Indu, Craig, Kenji. Good location and well maintained property. I would stay there again and would recommend it to other travellers.
Review 123:The wifi was very patchy
Review 124:Very comfortable family owned hotel, near to the centre yet quiet. Helpful friendly staff, pleasant room, lovely pool. Really enjoyed our stay in Cairns
Review 125:The storm at the time we were there..And the slamming of doors from other guests late at night.
Review 126:Very handy to the event we needed to be at. very friendly and helpful staff
Review 127:No elevator.
Review 128:Very clean & well maintained. Nice pool & outdoor cooking/dining area included. Desk staff very friendly and helpful. For a 3-star hotel (on a global scale) I'd give this 5 stars. Location is fairly good - about 4 blocks to the social action, restaurants & city center, but only 2 blocks from the esplanade.
Review 129:Breakfast was basic but sufficient. Room 116 the curtains even when drawn do not completely cover the window, should be resolved.
Review 130:The reception staff, I think the man was Craig but I am afraid I do not recall the name of the young lady.
Review 131:WiFi is too slow. The air conditioner is too dirty, the filter and the inhaler and the exhaler parts are full of dust and hence germs, need professional cleaning at least twice per year.
Review 132:Small note wasn't a fan of the two single beds put together, however this would not stop me coming again.
Review 133:Great value for money, very clean with good size room over looking pool. 10-15 walk to esplanade. Would stay here again. Thank you!
Review 134:Its really good value for money. The wi-fi can be a bit slow if your room is on the extreme end as ours was. The air conditioning is the old box type so it tends to be noisier and doesnt cool as well.
Review 135:The staff is very friendly and helpful
Review 136:WiFi was very "patchy" and was easily overloaded causing it to "collapse". Staff made efforts to improve the situation.
Review 137:Pool was a relaxing area with nice surroundings. Willing and helpful staff.
